I went to get some pants hemmed that I needed for a trip the following week. I noticed upon entering, the woman who worked there acted as if I interrupted her. I overlooked it because I know sometimes people are going through things and I like to give grace. And then she asked if I wanted to try them on. I mean, I guess some customers come in with their clothes already pinned and ready to be altered, but no, I'm not that organized. When she asked what heel height I would be wearing with them I told her about 2 inches. Well, she insisted that I did not need them to be altered, and I insisted that I did, especially with the wide leg cut, I felt like there was a level of back-and-forth that was unnecessary. This was very unusual for me in a place of business and I didn't know exactly where it was originating from and it's not something I can say I've experienced before to this degree. read more

Absolutely fantastic work and very well priced! I got a wool sport coat heavily altered, and it was done in less than two weeks in the busy formal season! And it looks absolutely amazing! 5/5 Well priced, extremely friendly, very fast turnaround, amazing work. read more

let me tell you, this place is incredible. I bought "custom suits" years ago that didn't fit right until I brought them here. They did an incredible job and i will be a life long customer. Highly recommended. Very dedicated. read more

My previous tailored retired so I had to find a new one. I took two blazers for alterations and I was very pleased with the results; so much so that I've taken additional items for alterations. Nissama is professional, knowledgeable, sweet and kind. I love talking with her when I drop off and pick up my clothing. I plan to continue to get all my clothes altered at Italo's Tailor Shop. read more

I cannot say enough about Nassima and the work she does. She truly cares about the clothing you bring in, most of all she has a heart that is caring and compassionate. We took in a dress, very last minute, that we could not zip. She took the time for a walk in and helped us on the spot. Her work is subperb and she is a remarkable person!!! Thank you again Nassima, for everything you did for us!!! read more

Ítalo has own that shop for years and as long as your detailed with your exclamation, he will use his attention to detail to make that idea a reality. I had jeans, chinos, and all my garment modified by him. Prices can be outrages depending on the altercation but it's worth it. read more

Hem of pants and taper of a tank top and skirt; $35 for hem, $35 for skirt taper, $15 for tank top taper...so this is how you take advantage of a college student? $85 for 3 simple items? I'm a guy and I know that's probably double the going rate! So, my UD student daughter dropped off these three items today and left with a surprise due on receipt bill obviously raking the students that use this Main St establishment. Whatever happened to student discounts? Shame. read more

I'm so glad I found Italo's! I bought a pair of really nice camouflage colored cargo pants a few months back and when I put them in the dryer after wearing them the first time, one half of one of the snaps on the pockets broke in two. Fortunately Dan at Italo's was able to salvage the snap and fix my pants, which was a relief even since they don't make those pants anymore. The repair was done in ten days and only cost $5! if you are even remotely in the area and need a garment repaired, Italo's is the place to go! read more

Italo's Tailor Shop - Italo's was able to fix the snap (two pieces on top) and put them back in the hole (lower right) of my (overpriced) camouflage cargo pants. - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Newark, Delaware

I drive from Greenville to Newark to get my shirts tailored here. I simply have not been able to find the same quality of workmanship from anyone in Wilmington. Dan is just that good! I came here on a whim a few months ago to get a few shirts brought in on the sides, just picked up three more shirts today, and plan to come back again and again. Dan is really personable and has great recommendations re. what types of shirts to get and how to properly alter them. The price is very reasonable for the quality - $26 to bring in the sides and sleeves of one dress shirt. I can't recommend him more highly! Also, just FYI, the shop is on the 2nd floor above Brewed Awakenings. Just enter from the street as if you're going into the coffee shop, but instead of entering the shop on the left, go up the long staircase. read more

These people were rude, unhelpful, and did not even want to try to help us or listen or look at what we needed to be altered. He just said it takes them at least one month to do any work, because they are so busy. read more

I get my vintage Levi's tailored here so that they fit just right. He does a fantastic job

Just an additional side bar of information, he does not take a credit card, only cash, so if you have a problem there is no recourse.

Dan does excellent work. He's done major work to suit pants and jackets for us. They fit us perfectly after Dan does his magic. He always has a smile and he works fast. We couldn't recommend him more! read more

Dan Nguyen of Italo's tailor is a fantastic tailor. I am very happy with the work he did for me bringing a suit in. It fits like a glove.

The best. I still drive down to UDs campus to use him because he is worth the 45 minute drive

Last year my wife took her wedding dress to Dan to alter prior to our wedding. He did an excellent job and she looked amazing in the dress. He was even able to show us the dress shop sold her a dress that had been previously altered. Again, Dan is expensive but he is worth it. If you want to use a discount tailor, I'm sure there are many other options. read more

Great service and a very nice owner! Both my husband and I were happy our experience and highly recommend them.

Old tailor shop on an a second floor Main Street building. Great tailor.... old school. Highly recommend.

I took a jacket to this tailor to have the sleeves shortened. The job was done quickly and professionally and I am very happy with the result. I would use this tailor again. read more

I find it very hard to believe that there are no reviews for Italo's yet as this is by far the best tailor you will find in Delaware. Make sure your financial expectations are realistic before visiting as Dan is a true tailor and not a dry cleaner's seamstress that can move your buttons and mend small holes. It will run you about $80 to have a sports coat brought in at the torso and have the sleeves shortened but it is money well spent. I will be the first to admit that i experience a little "sticker shock" each time i go but not once have i had an issue nor have the alterations failed with time. I would say that the work is undetectable but thats not quite true as its often better quality than the original. If your going to spend $300 or more on a nice jacket or even more on a suit, do not think twice about in-house alterations even if they are free or discounted. Take your jacket or suit to Dan and you will never go anywhere else. read more
