Property Destruction Masquerading as "Tree Service" - Avoid at All Costs Overall Rating: 1 Star (If I could give zero, I would) I am writing this review with immense frustration and disappointment after Tree Tech completely destroyed and butchered the protected live oak trees on my property. What I hired them for was a professional, proper trimming; what I received was an act of arboricultural vandalism that has left my property irrevocably damaged. Here are the facts of my experience: Disregard for Protected Status: I explicitly informed the company, and it was noted in our contract, that the trees are protected live oaks subject to local ordinances. The crew on site completely ignored this, performing severe, damaging "topping" and "lion-tailing" practices that are universally condemned by professional arborists and often illegal for protected species. Lack of Certification/Expertise: It became immediately clear their team lacked the presence of an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist as advertised. A certified professional would never have butchered mature trees in this fashion. Property Damage: The work was incredibly sloppy. Beyond the irreparable harm to my trees' health and aesthetics, the crew damaged other plants and left a significant mess of debris scattered across my yard that I had to clean up myself. Unresponsive Management: I attempted to contact the owner/manager immediately to halt the work and discuss the damages. My calls were initially ignored, and subsequent attempts to find a meaningful resolution have been met with shrugged shoulders and a refusal to take ownership of the extensive harm caused, although the final cost was adjusted. The value of the lost shade, privacy, and the sheer age of these magnificent trees cannot be replaced by the minimal "service" provided. This was not just a bad service experience; it was the destruction of a core part of my property's value and ecosystem. I have retained all documentation, including the contract, photos before and after the "service", and have already contacted local authorities regarding the potential violation of protected tree ordinances. I will also be filing formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and local consumer protection agencies. Save yourself the heartache and potential legal trouble. Do not trust your valuable trees or property to this company. Seek out a company that has reputable, ISA-certified professionals onsite during the whole job instead. read more

This company gave me one of the lowest bids for cutting down 3 trees and doing two stump grindings, so I hired them. I did tell them that my plants, irrigation, and existing electrical were important to me to prevent damage. They arrived on time, when they said they would. I did emphasize to them again that there was electrical and irrigation near the tree and to be careful. They actually did a good job of cutting the tree down, using a rope to tie off bigger branches. They left kind of a mess, which is what I expected since I had landscape rocks mostly. I knew the grinding wouldn't be pretty. My only gripe is that three of my landscape lights were not working after they left. After further inspection, I found a cut wire on top of the area where the trees were. I e-mailed a photo of the cut wire and an explained to them what happened, even after I clearly explained my concerns about the electrical wire. Their only response was that their contract, which they pretty much force you to sign, says they take no responsibility for any damage they cause. I would've thought that at least they could've attempted to have been more careful since I clearly explained my concerns in advance multiple times. It is evident that they really don't care about your property or any damage that they do to it. If you have electrical wires or irrigation, I would advise going with someone else. Now I will have to spend countless hour's digging up my my landscape to fix all the damage they did. I'm fairly certain they probably damaged my irrigation as well. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. read more

Recently I had the shade trees to clean up plus two dead birch trees to remove. I price checked Tree Tech because this was a big job. They came in $1500 lower than the next estimate. The same certified arborist has completed the estimate all these years, and the crew was on time, hard working and polite. As part of the job, we removed a branch that was hanging over the fence into the neighbor's yard, so the crew had to remove it by entering their backyard. My neighbor said what a beautiful job they did and they couldn't tell the crew had been in their yard. Now, the shade trees are beautifully trimmed without ruining their shape or damaging them. Very disappointed with the service. The person who came out said they couldn't reach high enough to trim the canopy over the pool and roof--apparently due to equipment limitations. It's frustrating because we didn't need an extreme trim, just the minimum to balance weight and stop leaves from constantly falling into the pool and onto the roof. Even more disappointing, the person who gave the quote wasn't there to guide the work, which led to poor communication and a job that felt half-done. Not only were they quick and flexible for scheduling the estimate, they were incredibly understanding when we got stuck for several weeks in scheduling while waiting for our neighbors to move the boat in their front yard. lol And when we were ready to schedule the actual tree trimming, the appointment was within a couple of days of that call (I was expecting a week or two) - and the appointment itself was fast, and efficient. The tree is in great shape, and there was negligible debree left to deal with. (As in, a bit of sawdust in the lawn, and a few more leaves on the ground than normal - we didn't need to actually do any cleaning afterwards.) This happened during our last horrible windy, rainy weather! It was frightening, my trees had fallen on my house, between the homes, and on my neighbors home!! I called 7am, Kinda was on it. She was ready to send help immediately. Yet I told her neither roofs of the homes were damaged. Tree Tech Services arrived 48hrs later and removed trees down to the stump. We use them to prune and maintain our beautiful shade trees, as well as removing those that are no longer viable due to age, etc. Recently we lost 4 cypress trees that were blown over by the 1/8 storm ( they took out our fence and landed on the neighbor's house !), leaving a huge root ball system that needed to be ground out/ removed so that we may proceed with fence replacement. Lew, our arborist with Tree Tech worked with our schedule to make sure tat this was done promptly, despite the overwhelming amount of work the tree companies had at that time. I own an investment home in Sacramento CA and had a large tree in the front yard of my property that was in dire need of trimming for its branches covered the driveway and would hit the roofs of cars that were parked there. Having a property management company that managed my property I naturally asked them if they could look into getting someone out to trim the tree back to the size it was in the Zillow listing from 2018. My property manager sent "Tree Tech Services" a picture and description of what I wanted the tree to look like after it was TRIMMED. I received the estimate and gave the go ahead to do the work. When I got a photo of the tree after, I was SHOCKED -- it had been butchered and cut so far back it will now take years for it to come back and create shade again. I was and am still Pissed at how INCOMPETENT this company is !! It is the hight of summer and the only shade that I had in the front was from this tree -- WHY WOULD I ASK TO HAVE IT CUT TO THE STUMP? -- I would NOT -- They are idiots !!. Seeing that I have several properties in Sacramento I will NEVER use or even consider using these idiots for any of them. They don't listen to the customer and don't THINK about what they are doing, Hummmm -- Maybe I should not cut this tree all the way back to the stump, or maybe I should call to verify that's what the owner wanted ?? The estimates was the lowest for the same work required from all vendors, and they were able to get the work done before the others.
