Great customer service and responsive! i will call back for work again in a heartbeat!

We hired California Tree Experts for a two day period to remove several dead trees on our property and clean up a few overgrown and damaged trees. Scott and his team were on time, professional, and the price was very reasonable. When the job was done they cleaned up thoroughly and made sure we were satisfied with everything. Great service at a great price! read more

We had a large redwood tree that was loose from the ground and ready to fall in the high winds and rain. They came out in the middle of the night and evaluated the tree, and due to it being a safety issue, they removed the tree at that time. We want to thank Scott and his partner for the excellent work, the quick response, and putting our safety and our neighbors safety as a priority. I will continue to use them in the future and would highly recommend using this business. read more

I had a mature pindo palm that was infected with phytophthora. After reaching out with multiple arborist. They all want to offer some type of treatment that doesn't make sense. I already did my research and kind of know what I'm dealing with. After reaching out with Scott from Cal tree expert, he is straight forward and honest about how tuff this disease is. He gave me all the advice and teach me how to treat my palm. After I know his honesty, I offer to pay for him to come out to take a look. He didn't want me to spend money on something that he is not confident on treating. So he ask me to send him some photos and advice me. This guy is so honest that money is not his priority, taking care of customers and trees is his priority(I believe). I will and recommend anyone that has tree problems to him for sure. Now I know why he has all the good review. Honesty always pay off. read more

California Tree Experts was so fast and professional. I highly recommend this company. First of all, after our big storm, our tree fell, and they were willing to come out and take a look at the damage right away. They gave us a fair price and we knew they were pretty backed up, but they assured us they would come out as soon as possible to do the work. When I explained a couple of days later that, it looked like my tree was starting to damage my shed, they expedited our service to mitigate my damages. The gentlemen who came out were fast and professional, and did everything they could to keep the tree from damaging my shed further. They were neat and did such a nice job cleaning up. They communicated with me throughout the whole process and even helped me with securing a tarp to a part of my shed that was damaged until the part comes in. I was so happy with the service. We will definitely be calling them with any other tree services that we need. If you need any of your trees, pruned or removed, this is the company! read more

Scott and his crew were very timely and efficient. Scott was prompt to come give a quote, explained what he would recommend for each of my six trees and listened to what I was seeking. He was able to get to my project quickly, showed up when he said he would, answered all of my questions and for me, most importantly was licensed and insured. When he left there was no mess or anything I needed to deal with. read more

These guys are THE BEST around. Extremely professional, prepared, and helpful to the point that you would expect to pay top dollar. However their prices are totally reasonable and they even helped us out after their working hours for the day for no extra charge. We have been consistently impressed by their work, and once they even went 80 feet up a redwood to save my cat. They do it all. And without a single complaint or hesitation even in the least favorable of circumstances. As long as they are in business I cannot see myself using anyone but California Tree Experts and I could not recommend them more highly. read more

I found Scott and California Tree Experts by reading the many reviews for tree companies. I will be calling him again when I require any type of tree work. I required the removal of two large redwoods that had died. Scott was responsive to my call and we settled on a quote within one day of inspecting the property. His crew was on time and professional. They went right to work and completed the job and all the cleanup within five hours. His pricing was very fair for complex work required. Highly recommend Scott and California Tree Experts. Check out what other of Scott's customers have said about the high quality of work they provide. It is all true. read more

Scott and his crew did a great job removing 2 dead birch trees from our front yard. One of the trees was literally falling apart, but he managed to remove it carefully. When they did the stump grinding, they made sure the windows were protected from flying debris. Response time was fast and he was able to complete the job quickly. I will use them again. Highly recommended. read more

Wow, what a great job they did and amazing customer service! We had hired another tree service to do the work and had booked out 2 weeks earlier. They were a no call no show. I had called and left 2 messages when they finally called back. They said they could take me in another two weeks and didn't offer a discount for the inconvenience. We were on a tight schedule as we were having our roof replaced. I called Scott and he came out the same day to give me a quote (which was $300 less than the other company) and brought his crew the next day! They did a great job and I could not recommend them enough! read more

California Tree Experts - before and after - Tree Services Near Me

First time home owner here. Trees. Can we talk about them? Knowing friends in the arbor business I knew they could be a costly benefit to any property. So when choosing a home I noted what type of tree, condition and size the house in question had. Fortunately the house that worked out a sale did not have too many tree issues, but they were neglected and needed care soon. Hanging over the roof (yikes) with broken branches precariously drooping overhead (double yikes) I looked into local arborist asap. Scott got back to me and visited our yard on a Saturday. Sort of a laid back guy, in casual garb (it was the weekend after all) he seemed to be knowledgeable on our trees needs. He gave an expected price and even informed me of my orchard trees in the back (bonus info!) So I committed to hiring him. Due to a booming economy, market and business, it's been hard to get any contractor to commit to various projects around the home. So I appreciated Scott coming out and talking care of business in two weeks after our estimate. His crew did a good job, didn't bother the neighbors even though they had to work on branches hanging over their property. The crew worked well together and kept the expletives at bay (something I appreciate when the kids are watching them work from the windows). The trees look good and it's nice not to have to worry about any dangers they once possessed. Thanks California Tree Experts! read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about them! Such great guys! Their quote came in around the lowest, they were the first to respond to my quote request AND they came out to do the work as soon as they had an opening. I HIGHLY recommend them if you have any trees that need some love. Love them! read more

Timely and quick work. The crew had our tree down and cleaned up within three hours. Very happy!

For all around solid tree trimming service and even some landscaping now and then, they are great. The tree trimming guys were friendly and professional and worked quickly. I could communicate with them extremely easily, which is nice. The reason I'm only giving three stars is that they didn't go the extra mile as far as clean-up afterwards. My sidewalk, deck, rock garden, and even my sliding glass door (!) was left messy with twigs, mud and such. I have hoses and brooms sitting right out there and if they didn't have a way to clean up, I would have lent them my equipment. As a widow with a disabled daughter, I look for service people who go the extra mile and leave things nice and clean when they are done. Edited: I added an extra star because the owner showed up today to apologize for the mess and to clean it up. That makes me feel better! Thank you, Scott! Edited again a few months later: CA Tree Experts now earns a full five stars from me, after having them do work several times. They took my suggestions to heart and have just done a superb job on a much-needed backyard clean-up today. The employees who left the mess before are no longer with the company. I received friendly service from the whole crew today. Thank you!!! read more

Tommy was an absolute life saver - in this case he literally saved our cat's life! She was up a huge redwood overnight in the freezing cold. She couldn't get herself down and the fire department couldn't help either. Tommy saved the cat by climbing up the tree. Calif Tree Experts responded right away on a Sunday morning and were out in an hour. We can not thank them enough! We would give them 10 stars if we could. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! read more

I DO NOT recommend California Tree-- FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: 1) NO WRITTEN BID: They (Scott and Bill) did not provide me with a written bid-- first red flag-- They ONLY gave a VERBAL estimate for 1600usd No diagram of the work that was expected...(the company I chose provided this along with a written detailed documented estimate--with itemized map of work to be done-- That is the way to be professional and it took only another 3-5 min.) ALWAYS GET A WRITTEN ESTIMATE say Judge Judy. 2) TOO EXPENSIVE: The bid was vastly more expensive (3 times more expensive than the bid I chose for same work, second red flag). Their explanation, "Worker's comp insurance costs have risen". 3) NO DOCUMENTATION: They provided no written documentation of their workers comp. and liability ins. (also provided to me by the company I chose along with his bid) 4) LONG TIME TO REPLY: I was called three days after my initial call, it was on the fly, they "were in the area", could show up in 30 min. Good thing I was home and available. 5) They offered me a service that later I found out could not be provided: a stump grinding in too narrow a space,-- they said they could, turns out the machine would not fit. They offered no alternatives, the company I chose offered one. I did not experience their service other than during the bid/estimate process...that was enough for me to say "NO" when compared to the company I chose, Johnston's Tree Service-a certified arborist. Scott and Bill were friendly and very personable, maybe they do good work based upon other reviews...They were just not the right ones for me for the reasons I stated above. read more

I had a large limb break free and come to rest on my house. Scott and his crew were out the next day, same day for the estimate. Excellent work, him and his crew were able to save any more damage from the limb when they removed it. They trimmed the tree exactly how I wanted and did a spectacular job. They cut all the wood to size for me to burn when dry. Hard working and fair prices, will definitely use California tree experts again. read more

Scott and his crew were very professional and tidy. I called him last week and he came the next day and gave me an estimate for the work I was requesting and scheduled me for last Wednesday. Unfortunately PG&E had our street closed off on Tuesday for repairs that did not finish when I called Scott to let him know he rescheduled me to Friday without any hesitation. He and his crew came out and took down some lights and moved some of our planters to make sure nothing got damaged and left the yard cleaner then when they showed up. Highly recommend them great company and even nicer people. read more

Scott and his team are my heroes! A huge tree fell on our house and put a hole right in the roof of my son's room. With today's rainy and windy conditions, time was of the essence to get the tree cut up and removed from our roof so we could appropriately cover the hole. California Tree Experts' team was fast and efficient. My family and I are grateful for their help in our time of need and could not give a greater recommendation for their services! Thank you again Scott and the whole California Tree Experts team! read more

If I could give -10 stars I would. He pollarded our mulberry and DESTROYED most of the rest of the yard. I say "he" meaning Scott's company as he only showed up to delivery lunch to his employees. The same employees who, when asked by my husband, "Please try not to break the other plants in the yard" told him, "We're doing the best we can." Wow! That's customer service! Not good customer service but, customer service none the less. Those of you who didn't get a call back from him, you dodged a bullet. Be grateful. California Tree Experts did major damage to my wisteria, my geraniums, my azaleas, my columbine, my lobelia, my lamium, my baby tears, my sedum not to mention the weeds I used to call my lawn. Oh, almost forgot the damage to my rain gutters. (Yes, Scott, they messed up TWO rain gutters from rolling the chunks of wood off of my roof to destroy the other landscaping! You must have had the same issues with your ropes as you did with the refund you shook my hand on - both nonexistent. You know that makes you a crook, right? A crook whose word is worthless.) This is not the last you'll hear from me, Scott. read more

Scott and his crew did an outstanding job for our church today. We had three huge cork oaks that were dead or dying that had to be cut down, in our parking lot. Not only did they show up early, they were very safety conscious throughout a rigorous day with as many as four chain saws working at once. Scott was very easy to work with and his years of experience shone in every move he and his crew made. I highly recommend Scott Etherington and the crew at California Tree Experts. read more

I reached out to several companies for quotes on a root pruning and root barrier because they were growing into my walkway and driveway. Scott was extremely responsive and came by right away to give me a quote. He had by far the best service and client relations of anyone I contacted. Eventually I decided to go with him and had him prune branches on a couple of my oak trees in addition to the root work. He was very easy to work with on exactly what I wanted and left things clean and tidy when they were done. I'm definitely going to be giving Scott a call next time I have tree work that needs to be done. read more

What an amazing, amazing crew. We had a lot of trees that needed deadwood removal and a massive oak that needed to be removed. These guys were fast, courteous, and professional. The crew was great and made fairly quick work of quite a few trees on the property. Even after adding quite a bit to our list of work, they handled it and cleaned up well after completion. We needed a dying tree taken down right away in our backyard before our landscape project started. Scott was able to assess the job right away and he and his crew were able to come the next day. He even trimmed another stump tricky to grind due to location for us at no charge. They were efficient, on-time and cleaned/removed everything professionally. We had a huge palm tree - the type with the nasty thorns - that had been planted too close to our pool by the previous owner of our home. Scott saw the photos I sent and agreed it had to come out. His bid was far less than the others I got but it had no effect on the quality of his work. He and a helper had the 30 ft tall palm down in pieces, in the truck and gone in under two hours. And they cleaned up everything. I have trees that will need work this winter and he will get that job. Great work at a very reasonable price. read more
