Tre Dita is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food! The interior is very elegant and makes the meal all the more enjoyable. The staff are all amazing and great! To start, we ordered the Flori de Fiori di Zucca ($26), Schiacciata Bianca ($11), Polpette di Brasato ($26), and Burrata e Crudo ($34). I forgot that the Flori had ricotta inside so that was a surprise when I bit into it. Our waiter cuts the burrata and pours the oil on top. The burrata was delicious and great to share. The focaccia was very light and delicious as well. No need for butter on the bread. The Polpette was good but nothing amazing. I would say that I would skip the Polpette and Flori next time. For the pastas, we ordered the Linguine al Limone ($29), Trofie al Pesto ($42), and the Strozzapreti alla Vaccinara ($34). All the pastas were delicious! We loved them all. I would say that they are on the smaller side and I was still hungry after eating our apps and pastas. Fortunately we also had a couple steaks coming which filled me up. For the steaks we ordered the King River Ribeye (wagyu) ($220) and the Costata Alla Fiorentina ($240). The Australian Wagyu was my favorite. It melts in your mouth and was amazing. It made the other ribeye just taste not as good. The other ribeye was delicious, but didn't compare to the wagyu. Even though we were full, we still ordered a couple of dessert. We ordered the Dolce al Pistacchio ($21) and the Tiramisu Classico ($19). Both were delicious and very beautiful. The Tiramisu caught all of our eyes as the top showed the firehorse as it is the year of the firehorse. It was fun as the top you get to crack open for the tiramisu. We enjoyed our dinner very much and everything was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant as it is great for a lovely dinner with great food.

The perfect location for a celebration or special occasion! Amazing interior, skyline views, outstanding food and service! Elevated Italian that still feels comfortable. Pro Tip: reservations are hard to come by but grab a seat at the bar for food and drinks!

(Kari's Rating 9.25/10) Came with a friend without a reservation on a Tuesday evening at 4 PM for an early dinner. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were seated right away in a small corner spot. We got a small spot in the corner and it was so beautiful with the sun setting. We were seated in our server Mark greeted us right away. He was having critically knowledgeable about the drink menu, and I ordered the L'Inizio. They gave us a little shot of vermouth as a palate cleanser. Mark told us that the food would just come out as it was ready. We ordered the deep-fried gnocchi, the Burrata salad, the tomato focaccia and for our mains we ordered a New York strip and the parpardalle a ragu. You can definitely tell the pasta was homemade, and the sauce was very light. The New York strip was delicious and cooked perfectly as I always get it medium rare-more on rare side. It was a lot of food as always and I had plenty of leftovers to take home. I was between the double chocolate cake and the pistachio, but I decided to go a limb and get the pistachio cake to go. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious the pistachio dessert was and I definitely continue thinking about it. Would come back for the vibes and the server as Mark was incredibly personable!

YUM!! The bread is the best bread I've ever had I think. I could eat the whole loaf myself. Gnocchi was lovely for the app. Pasta wise, I enjoyed the arrabbiata a lot more than the linguini because I felt flavor fatigue faster with the linguini. That being said, they were both so delicious in their own right. Tiramisu was fantastic! Our server, Josiah, was super accommodating and helped recommend the dishes as well! The restaurant was packed as expected for a Sunday night so it was still a little wait even though we had a reservation. The views of the city from the big windows are spectacular. I'd love to visit again sometime!

Delicious meal, great ambiance, attentive service (shoutout to Megan), but yes it's expensive. Wish we also had a table by the window but it was a great view and people watching regardless. Loved the pasta bar and watching them hand make the pasta. What we got: - squash blossoms - came highly recommended by Megan as it's not a typical menu item. Was pleasantly surprised, almost like an elevated and Italian take on a jalapeño popper - braised short rib meatballs - so good and they look deceptively small but it's very meat forward - pappardelle - prob our fave dish of the night, also meat fwd and great flavor - Arabbiatta - amazing heat that builds. I usually go for a pasta with protein but this was amazing and a nice contrast to the richness of the pappardelle - chocolate mouse - Megan sent over a nice chocolate mousse to end the meal even though we were too full to order dessert and perfect nightcap - old fashioned - good but nothing to write home about and hate when places don't have the big rock ice - French 75 - nice and sour Already planning on coming back to try the rest of the menu and hopefully snag a table with a view.

We loved our experience at Tre Dita but holy $$$$ get ready to spend some money. We got seated around 5 PM on a Saturday night and had a good view of the river/buildings. We were seated promptly and given menus and quickly ordered cocktails. Not sure if they were short staffed but from the time we ordered our cocktails to receiving cocktails and ordering food was at least 15-20 minutes. After this no other issues. What we ordered: -Schiacciata Bianca (5/5): Must have at the table, delicious, light, and warm -Gnocchi Fritti (4/5): Wonderful cheesy goodness -Alici Marinate (2.5/5): Anchovies were overly salted but the salsa verde made up for it -La Panzanella (5/5): The burrata made me feel like I was back in Italy. The cherry tomatoes were so crisp we were fighting over them. -Gnudi Di Spinaci (4/5): My husband loved these as they were made out of ricotta cheese but I thought there very heavy being made of ricotta. Still good but harder to eat. -Tiramisu (4/5): Decent and huge but beautiful

It was a lovely evening that was highlighted by the exceptional service. Decor was elegant and seating was comfy in the bar (although we thought it wouldn't be when first arriving). We decided to try Restaurant Week even though previous reviews of this event weren't great. We were pleasantly surprised by the portions - we had leftovers even - and everything was high quality and tasty. The desserts were weaker, but absolutely fine. Cocktails were fantastic. Obviously a good value during RW, but bring your wallet for the regular menu. Tip: Park Whiz at the Coast building next door for a much cheaper option.

Visited Tre Dita for Valentine's Day and everything was beautiful...from the view and decor to the overall ambience. The food was delicious; I had the pappardelle al cinghiale and really enjoyed it, and the wine was great as well. Our service was really good and made the experience even better. My boyfriend was obsessed with the bread (he ordered 3 loaves lol). My only wish is that adding protein to the pasta dishes was an option. Overall, a great experience and I'd definitely go back!

Lettuce Entertain You has never let me down. Tuscan Italian handmade pasta. Second floor views of Lake Michigan and Chicago River. Marble, high ceilings, intimate and elegant style to this place. Thank you to the wonderful bartender for assisting me with a deep bourbon selection and explanation and opinion of the menu. I love this place. Thank you Tre Dita team and Chef Funke!

We got lucky and snagged a reservation for a Thursday evening at 6:30. We were seated promptly, shown the pasta lab on the way to our seats and for a chance to walk through the beautiful ambiance and decor around the restaurant on our way to our seats. What an incredible ambiance!! Beautiful and so picturesque. Great for a fancy date night, girls night or whatever you're looking for. We started with the Schiacciata Bianca (focaccia), the gnocchi fritti and gamberi in salsa verde (prawns). For pastas, we got the rigatoncini all'areabiata, cacio pepe and strozzapreti alla vaccinara (oxtail ragu). For meat, we got the pollo alla toscana (chicken) and for dessert we got the tiramisu. When I say that everything was esquisite I mean it. The focaccia is a must order. It's light, airy and fluffy. The gnocchi was basically cheese curds but in the most incredible sauce ever (I think it was the caccio pepe sauce) and when I say I could drink that sauce...oh my. The blue prawns were a complete hit too. The salsa verde is so herby and tasty! Couldn't help but keep the sauce and dip our bread in it. All 3 pastas were delicious! The pastas are all made fresh and you can tell. No bloating here! The arrabiata sauce did have a slight kick, but we loved it! Caccio Pepe was a classic, but this is one of the bests I've ever had. Still, my favorite was the oxtail ragu pasta. It was so incredibly flavorful that I couldn't help but ordering one to go. Finally, our meat dish was the chicken. I think this was my least favorite dish of the evening. Personally, next time I'd go for steak but we had a member of our party who doesn't eat beef and the waiter recommended the chicken. The flavor was good, but I didn't enjoy the texture. It felt a bit soggy and the sauce was missing something. Chicken wasn't the most tender I've had either. Slightly overcooked. Finally, the tiramisu was great! Not overly sweet, a bit strong on the espresso flavor but oh so delicious!! The service was also top notch between explaining the menu, giving recs and taking our picture we loved them!!

Absolutely loved this restaurant!! My friend asked me to go to dinner with her because she had reservations and couldn't cancel last minute. Glad I was able to go because it has been on my list! It was busy when we arrived but we only had to wait a little bit until we were seated. It was packed but was not really loud. You could still hold your conversation without raising your voice. Loved everything we ordered. We got 2 salads....yes, we really ordered 2 salads. We both love salad and couldn't decide so we got both to share. We also got filet mignon and pasta to share! Everything we ordered was delicious. We definitely cleared both of the salads!! Loved the little spicy kick to the pasta and it was cooked to the perfect texture as well. The filet was perfect portion for the both of us. Of course, we both loved the arugula that came with it also. We were both so full but of course, there's always room for dessert! We decided on the olive oil cake. I've never had it before so I didn't know what to expect. My friend assured me that it was good and nice and light. When it came out and I tried it, I think I was hooked!!! It was delicious! Definitely was not disappointed and I want to come back again for other items on the menu we didn't get to try!

My mom and I had a lovely evening dining at Tre Dita. We were hotel guests and requested reservations ahead of time. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and we were glad to have a table by the window. The service was A+ and they really made my mom feel special (as she was celebrating a special occasion). We wanted to try so many things on the many but wanted to be cautious and not order too much food. Here are my thoughts on everything that we tried! Fiori di Zucca (squash blossoms): So delicate and yummy! Schiacciata Bianca (focaccia bread): Soft, warm and delicious. I wanted to order a 2nd! Polpette di Brasato (meatballs): Delicious! Again, I wanted to order a 2nd but my belly was getting full. Cacio de Pepe: I would have preferred a smaller pasta and more cheese/pepper flavor, but it was still a good dish. Gnudi di Spinaci: Oh my, so soft and flavorful! I think this was my favorite dish. Dolce Al Pistacchio: Surprisingly good pistachio cake!! Tiramisu Classico: Whoa! This was amazing and so balanced. I typically don't like tiramisu, but this changed my mind. Very well done!

What a wonderful dining experience. The view, bar and dining room decor, service, and the remarkable food. 4 of us had dinner and worked our way thru the menu. A must start is the Schiacciata Focaccia since you'll want it for soaking up all the sauces! For appetizers we had the giant squash blossoms and the Burrata E Crudo with prosciutto that was the best I've ever had. It melted in my mouth. The pastas come in sharing size so we picked 4. The linguine limone had a terrific lemon flavor, trofie al pesto was smooth and creamy, my favorite was the pici al cacio e pepe, the most unique was the gnudi di Spinaci, which was little round dumplings and mushrooms. We shared a NY strip which was perfectly cooked and sliced. We left room for dessert which were the tiramisu classico with a thin chocolate piece of art on top and the delce al Pistachio which was a dacquoise cake with pistachio praline. What a fantastic meal.

She absolutely fell in love with the place and said she was having a great birthday. She wasn't planting seeds, I swear, but our server, ever the professional, said he'd take care of us. And he did, punctuating our dinner with a wonderful dessert with a birthday candle. Speaking of candles, the focaccia appetizer came out with a lit candle that melts a tasty, buttery dipping sauce. I had work done at the dentist earlier, so I had a hard time eating. Every bite was painful, but I heated up our leftovers and fell in love with my rigatoni with vodka sauce all over again. Yum. Especially not a good dinner option despite being excited for it for our Valentine's Day dinner. Food- really liked Caesar salad and Mac n cheese. However, this is a steak house. We ordered ribeye in medium and NY strip in medium rare. However, ribeye was medium rare and ny strip was cooked medium well. I considered telling our waiter but he never appeared at our table to ask about how our food was. He showed up half an hour later to ask if we wanted dessert. I didn't eat my ny strip because it was so dry and my husband had a few bites. Service- as mentioned above, the server barely showed up. Also our food arrived later than everyone next to us. The couple next to us got sat down after we put in our entree order and get they received their entree before we did. No apologies or context given on the delay. Also, I know they offer half orders for certain dishes like salad for takeouts and deliveries and saw older TikTok videos that mentioned getting half portions too. We asked if they do half portions so we can try more items in the menu, we simply got a "NO" without any kindness or explanation given. It was said as if we were asking them something stupid. Ambiance- I think the bar area is nice looking, but we were sat in the basement. It was crammed, the tables were small, and because it was a small room, you can really hear other tables conversations. For casual restaurants I don't mind that type of ambiance but if we are dropping more than $300 for 2 of us, I am going to compare it to comparable places in that price range: Bavettes, Gibsons, maple and ash, swift and sons, Alston, etc. this is significantly lacking compared to all of those "nice steakhouses". Theres not even a coat check. Also our leftover was packed in a cheap black plastic bag. Once again, not matching with the price point. We are locals and were very excited to try this place not far from us, but sadly, it was a truly disappointing experience and if anyone asked me if I'd recommend this place, I would say look elsewhere.

I was visiting from out of town and was not familiar with the parking around the area. I asked one of the staff members and immediately they reassured me that the side street would raking was totally fine to park just so long as it wasn't the front of the building where you have to pay. The food started with a complementary potato soup which was flavorful and lovely. We got a round of drinks and one of our party didn't care for her drink and it was replaced no question. We had the flat iron steak, the chicken, and the salmon and each entree was wonderful. The proteins were all very tender and juicy. I was also very pleased with the salad that came first which was lightly dressed and very seasonal. We finished our dining experience with a slice of cheesecake. It was a nice cap to the end of a wonderful meal. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion - I would love to come back and try some of the other items on their menu.

**Hidden gem!!!**…read more Penumbra is SUPER sexy and low-key elite. This is one of those spots that will make you look like a total restaurant pro if you take someone there or recommend it. The ambiance is intimate, romantic, and just feels exclusive without trying too hard. I took my girl there for her birthday and she absolutely loved it -- which is always the real test. We had the ribeye and the Rotini Bianco, and both were excellent. The ribeye was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. The Rotini Bianco was rich, creamy, and done just right. Every dish felt intentional and well executed. Don't hesitate to book. If you're trying to impress or celebrate something special, this is the move.

Came here with my sister, and we were able to order one of each tasting menu. All of the meats were delicious, high quality. The Wagyu tasting menu was of course much fattier and more tender. One of my fave cuts of meat was the Wagyu ribeye cap, not surprising. The Wagyu hanger from the premium tasting menu was my fave cut from that menu. The servers were friendly. They cook the meat for you at your table, so depending on how they're staffed the night you go and how busy they are, you might have a short wait between some bites. But it wasn't noticeably slow. The tasting menu is served with japchae (yum!), assorted banchan, salad, and ssamjang sauce. They also give you sesame oil with salt and pepper. Most of the meat was seasoned so well, it didn't even need sauce. The banchan sides are great to help cut the fattiness of the meat. If you ask for rice, they will give you some. I know they give you lettuce to wrap, but I prefer a little white rice to help cut the grease personally. Was happy they had it! If you want to order meat à la carte, the biggest surprise of the night was that the marinated short rib which is usually a fave was oddly the least seasoned and the marinade was not super flavorful. I would stick to the Wagyu hanger or maybe one of the ribeye options. Would recommend for some good beef and good service!

I ordered the small ceaser, Korean fried chicken, and smashed burger + beer combo. Everything was perfect. The salad was refreshing, crunchy, and flavorful. Light but filling. The Korean chicken had a tinge of sweetness/spiciness with perfect fried skin. Also, very juicy. Burger tasted like a really elevated Big Mac which is great, and fries were solid too. The bartender who I think was Andrew did a great job serving us too. He was a one man show having to deal with everyone at the bar. So glad we were able to try the food from here. The ambiance is also nice and elevated, definitely a good date spot.

Walking into the Chicago Grand Avenue Joe's was like walking into a full elevator - difficult, but not impossible. This place was jammed, on an early Thursday night. I know "Joe's" menu very well and I ordered: * Their Wedge salad with a ton of accoutrements and asked for this salad to be chopped and tossed. It was excellent * Their fried calamari with two dipping sauces which was also very good and filling. * A light pale pilsner that (again) was very good paired excellently with my order. I guess what I'm trying to say is - this place earned such a stellar reputation that being in this sea of happy diners is well deserved. The staff was accommodating, the ambience was wild and wooly and the people were enjoying themselves, to no end, me included.

The chicken paillard was very tasty but it seemed odd that the chicken and salad were both served on the same very hot plate. Luckily the salad didn't get warm enough to wilt the greens. For starters, we had a reservation which I would recommend. We were seated right away and while the place is large inside, I'm not sure what walk-in availability is like. The food: we really enjoyed the octopus, escargot, I had the Filet Mignon Au Poivre, and the banana/coconut entremet. The octopus was tender and flavorful; octopus cooked right (especially in smaller pieces) is hard to find so I was impressed. The escargot was nice and buttery/garlicky, and piping hot. I LOVED my Filet with the green peppercorn cream sauce! It was delicious and my husband was surprised I ate so much of it. It was cooked exactly as I asked, the meat had good flavor, and the sauce was delicious and well balanced + the right consistency. Lastly, the banana and coconut dessert was a pleasant surprise. The banana flavor was fresh (not artificial) and had the right balance of coconut. It was creamy, not too sweet, and had the right balance of textures with the outer coating and the crumble underneath - if you like banana or coconut at all I'd say it's a must order! The creme brulee was just okay. My issue was the service - the table next to ours LIT ON FIRE because a menu was over the top of a candle. After burning half the menu and the fire was getting larger, our partners ran over and put it out with their napkins. They yelled and there was NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from the staff at all - at least 2 staff saw and one waiters eyes got big for a minute and she turned away. Not even a thank you from anyone to our partners for putting it out, and they had to ask for new napkins because theirs had black char on them. We were in the middle of enjoying our appetizers and my friend was just digging into her French onion soup from our first round and the staff kept trying to take our plates away. My friend had to tell them 3 times to please leave the soup at the table, and overall made us feel very rushed. We weren't taking a long time to eat at all so felt very weird? When the entrees were dropped on the table, my friend got a steak and they kept trying to give her a butter knife. It took multiple attempts to get the correct knife. Then once we were done eating it took a while to get our plates and old glasses cleared away. Overall service timing was off and their aggressiveness in the beginning of trying to take our plates away + the lack of response to A FIRE in the restaurant was pretty alarming. While I enjoyed the food there, the service was pretty bad and I feel unsafe with the lack of response to a fire in the restaurant so I don't think we'll return.
