I've been to Tre Dita twice this year...once on a date and the next with colleagues. Both times have been great as the food, drinks, atmosphere and service has been on point or more both times. Located in the St. Regis Hotel right at the very end of upper Wacker Dr overlooking Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. Bar scene is nice as if you want to get a bar seat without doing a table reservation, its best to get there between 4-5pm. Both times I have dined in the bar area. The first time, my date was late so we wound up getting a nice table in the back corner, looking out at the lake...very cool and the only time someone being late as hell benefitted me lol! The next time with colleagues, we got a nice table in the general area. Drinks are awesome as I've had the Golden Siren (their best), Blanco Bianco Amargo (decent mezcal and tequila drink) The Dita (a very good manhattan) and the Il Tempo Vola (a good old fashioned). The food is a chef's kiss! The Schiacciata Bianca bread is very tasty and can be an appetizer in itself. Gamberi in Salsa verde is good Burrata e Crudo...the prosciutto was muah! Cacio E Pepe...very good! Tagliatelle al Ragù...outstanding New York Strip w/yukon gold potatoes...all I can say is damn!!! so good! Very cool space with dope vibe! Service is always on point! Bar masters are always knowledgeable about their cocktails in which most of them are very good! We started with the schiacciata Bianca, of course as it came highly recommended, which was so soft and fluffy and very oily - we saved some for the pastas later which was a good idea since it was pretty big. The fiori di zuc a was also recommended and was somewhat different than expected, but the ricotta was really good. For pastas we did the duck ragu which was the most recommended and the tortellacci. Both were really good. The ragu was tender and flavorful, though I usually like my noodles a little less aldente. Came in for a friend's birthday dinner and luckily arrived at the St. Regis right as they are going the champagne sabering in the lobby, which may have made us a few minutes late for our reservation, but they were wonderful and understanding. Can skip out on a champagne sabering experience (and free champagne). The restaurant is beautiful and bright and we were lucky enough to be seated in a booth overlooking Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. Once seated we were promptly greeted by Mike, who was absolutely wonderful, brought us these lovely little sips of this lemony vermouth and walked us through the menus. We settled in drinks, I went with the old fashioned, be sure to ask for a large ice if that is your preference and drinks can out quickly. We were also treated with this lovely cheese honey and black pepper amuse. We had the panzanella salad - delicious. Fresh crisp light with creamy buratta. A fantastic start to the meal. For our mains we shared the filet, cacio, guanciale, and vongole, more than enough food. All of the pasta is made fresh, they have a window looking into their pasta studio and see them work their magic. But hands down the cacio is a star. I love the thick noodles. The guanciale and the vongole were also both delicious, the clams were super tender and the guanciale was salty and savory. For dessert we opted for the pistacchio il dolce. We loved the rigatoni he pointed out it wasn't the spicy one it was the other menu option! So good. Loved the burrata and all of the cocktails were interesting! Absolutely stunning venue! You are instantly taken aback as you walk in and see the tall windows with the beautiful view. Classy and modern vibe inside. Service as expected was top notch, you can tell everyone is professional. Our dinner started out with a welcome lemon liquer drink which was nice. I couldn't get a res in the dining room (I called the day before so that's on me) but since they knew it was a special day for us, they gave us a table for two in the bar but we were all by ourselves! Took us awhile to get reservations but the wait was definitely worth it! We were seated promptly on a Wednesday evening by the open kitchen. It was cool to see them fulfilling orders from the kitchen with detailed instructions, the staff really care about the minute details. We ordered the schiacciata Bianca to start, the bread was melt in your mouth perfection. We also ordered the fiori di zucca and the gnocchi fritti. The fried squash blossoms were beautiful but lacked a little flavor. The gnocchi had the perfect flavor profile and I would definitely order it again in a heartbeat. We then ordered the gnudi di spinaci and the halal filet mignon from creekstone. I don't think I've ever had such delicious steak before, it was flavorful and juicy even though we ordered it medium. None of the desserts looked appealing but we did get complimentary sorbet because it was my husband's birthday. From valet parking to the second floor of the hotel, checking in for my reservation while checking my coat which was HUGE perked for me, as I hate toting my coat around with me. I was greeted and seated immediately. My waitress was Jilleen. She was extremely impressive with her Italian accent and thoroughly acquaintance with the menu. She made great suggestions for the menu and infinitely wine selections. Jilleen first started me off within the Italian culture, I was presented with a pre-dinner drink. It was called Aperitivo, typically an alcoholic beverage, but can also be non-alcoholic, that is enjoyed before a meal to stimulate the appetite". I then ordered: Schiscciata Bianca, Battuta DI Manzo,Pici Cacio E Pepe, Filetto DI Manzo(8oz) And of course a red wine (can't remember) and a pistachio slice of cake. Everything was pleasantly fresh delicious and the quality was very much appreciated. It's an upscale place with fine dining atmosphere. I have been wanting to try Tre Dita out since June--it is still really hard to get a reservation for the dining room. The service was great--Very prompt and gave great menu recommendations. Salad: La Panzanella was very good! Highly recommend Meatballs: braised beef short rib meatballs were good, but I wasn't expecting them to come out fried. Honestly seemed a tad dry for me or needed more sauce. Would still recommend trying though. Branzino: I wasn't a huge fan--was bland to me. I have had better Branzino's in Chicago and was very pricy $89. I'm glad I tried it but won't get it again. Tortelli: my FAV of the night, just wish there was more! Normally when you think of pasta you think 'heavy', but this pasta was flavorful, light and airy. They make all their pasta in house in their pasta lavatory! We sat in the dining room, which has great city views if you're by the window. Aesthetically, I loved the bar area better for ambiance. Drinks: Margarita, Spicy Margarita, and espresso martini. My only complaint with the drinks is that they are smaller than normal. All were very good and the espresso martini was one of my favorites I've tried in the city. Con: they are still charging a $9 covid tax--but why?? Makes no sense to me. Our server took it off for us, so I paid it back to him in tip. Overall, I think it is a great fine dining restaurant, but a bit overpriced. Guess you're paying for the ambiance because the food was good, but didn't blow me out of the water. Tre Dita was named one of the most beautiful restaurants in Chicago. It's located on the 2nd flr of the St. Regis, in the new Vista Towers. Reservations are available per week basis, so getting a table on a Saturday night was tricky. We got seated in the bar section offering cozy couches and plush chairs. We did make a point to stop in the dining room to appreciate the grandeur and space. Service was impressive and impeccable. The sommelier did a nice job to recommend wine, not an easy feat considering the size of the list focusing on all of Italy. Pasta is made in house and we got to appreciate the skill, craft and fun tools. For dinner, we tried a couple pasta dishes. Flavors and textures were quite simple but elegant. The squash blossoms were lite and crispy stuffed with cheese. Focaccia was a little different in that it was also airy and delicate. Get the Gotto if you want chocolate, that was incredibly rich. While we liked the Nonna, it seemed small and a little less satisfying. We celebrated a birthday that night and the chocolate/coffee mousse cup was the best bite of them all! This is the second time I've been to this restaurant. We went earlier this year a few months after they had opened, waiting for them to work the kinks out, and we're impressed with everything. First of all the room is stunning. The floor ceiling soaring windows and view is one of the best in Chicago. Everything we had to eat from the Panzanella salad, to the 64 ounce ribeye was excellent. Our waiter was one we remembered from RPM Seafood. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about this visit. Again, the Panella salad was great, stuffed Squash Blossoms. We're very good and the oxtail pasta was excellent. The things We were not happy with were the Cacio de Pepe and the Bone in ribeye. The pasta is normally a spaghetti type of pasta and this used a thicker pasta that we did not care for. As To the steak, it did not have the flavor we expected, and the meat was very tough. Additionally, we asked for it to be prepared, medium, and it came out more a medium rare. My last comment is regarding the service. Our server failed on many points items that were supposed to be delivered to the table when we sat down, never arrived., Drinks took exceedingly long, we had to request additional cocktails as he never asked us if we wanted something. The one star rating is due to how we were greeted by the three hosts when we walked in the restaurant. Not a smile or a pleasant word. We were a party of four for dinner, told to wait a few minutes. So we took a few steps into the bar area to look at it, and then one of the male hosts rudely told us, " the bar is at capacity " and we could Not look around! To my eye the bar was only fifty percent full. There were many open bar stools and empty tables. The host hurried us out of the bar area and back to the waiting area. Very disappointing. Once seated, the dining experience was outstanding! The woman who took our drink and food order was delightful! This place was so good... It's located in the St Regis building on the 2nd floor. The focaccia blanca was so good. It was probably the best I've ever had. The bread was so light and fluffy, and the light olive oil and rosemary, as well as the flaky salt were incredible. I also got the anchovies. They came with super light and crispy bread slices to put the anchovies on. The anchovies were in a parsley with oil and the saltiness was really nice. And the oil was really infused with parsley/herbs. The anchovies had a really nice texture too. I enjoyed the rigatoni dish wish guanciale. The handmade pasta had the perfect consistency, and the guanciale is good. Highlight was the bursting tomatoes. Dessert gave a complimentary chocolate mousse kinda thing. It was coffee and good too there was caramel. The bottom for the glass container had a sticky dollop of maybe sugar water to prevent sliding. That's attention to detail! Service was highly knowledgeable, and the ambiance was fancy. The only thing is many people arrived at 2pm, and we were slightly delayed in seating. The ambiance is completely a 5 star experience. Romantic, Elegant and Upscale. The drinks were delicious. The waitress knocked over a drink and it completely splattered all over me. She removed the drink from the bill but offered NOTHING but napkins for my wet clothing. Two stars removed for this lack of service. I was completely disappointed and mortified. A complimentary round or a second drink removed would have been best. The starters were delicious! The squash blossoms and meatballs were amazing. The meatball is not what you expect. They literally taste like fried pot roast. Seriously a must try. Two stars also removed for the pasta dishes. The spaghetti was probably the best out of the 3 we tried. DO NOT GET THE LASAGNA.
