I've tried on several occasions to give this restaurant a fighting chance to impress my palate, but each an every time it's a huge failure. Food: They often don't have 50% of the items on the menu. I know restaurants tend to run out of popular dishes late in the day but I've tried at different days and times and it's usually the same response "sorry we don't have that item, it's been out all week." The presentation is beautiful, lots of bells and whistles but the quality of the food is poor. We had the me'nage a taco, they applied the entire cabbage onto a small taco, we had to dissect the dish to find the meat (very small amount). It was a soup (bowl of cabbage juices) after every bite. Absolutely disgusting. The salmon comes on a skillet and it's over done. Again bells and whistle but lacks quality. Drinks: I would ONLY go here for drinks. Great cocktails. Staff: wonderful and very friendly. Because they are use to not having certain dishes, they try to cater to disappointed guest by comping drinks etc. They are very delightful. Main focal points here, are part of Brian Martínez's many travels, hence the word, Travesías. Inside is small-scale, but has a unique and simple design. My sisters and mom's meals were fantastic. My friend had a groupon for four that was expiring so we went on Tuesday to redeem it. We started out with passion fruit margaritas because they were the special for the day. Tried the new bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. Omg so good we also had the empanadas trio.... Since it was taco Tuesday we decided to try the wide selection. I had rock shrimp, steak, and Pastelon all equally delicious in flavor. The masterpiece of the night was the Maduro cheesecake that was epic flavors swimming in your mouth. Once the bill came the manager wants to inform us that the Tacos aren't covered in the groupon. I personally believe the waitress should have informed the table when we were making our order. I was finally able to go enjoy the outdoors with my best friend and partner; meals were of a decent price and following protocols for safety and health were demonstrated here. Went here for the first time a few days ago with a friend. Loved the food, the presentation of the food and the environment. Great music was playing in the background. Clean establishment and nicely decorated. The staff was very professional and attentive. This spot is amazing. The food, drinks and the option of being place inside or outside is great. The guac is a bit salty but everything else I ate was great. The steak, lobster, calamari was bomb. Astonished I asked for a few minutes to look over the brunch menu. We decided to do the sangria choose our entrées and appetizer. Roughly 5-7 min later she returned with our sangria. The DJ was playing a great selection so we were talking enjoying the music the weather was pretty nice. Remind you I am expecting for the appetizers to arrive shortly. WELL THAT NEVER HAPPENED. She never came back to check on us. After walking outside to tend to other tables numerous times. 40min later she comes over and asks "you got your orders". I told her no. She said she will be right back and goes to the kitchen to tell us. Our food will be ready in 3min. She brings out our food and I said well we never got our appetizers either. She looks at me in astonishment and said Oooo really. I'll be back let me go check and let you know. She then returns to tell me that they will bring it out shortly. The CHULETON DE CERDO with Yucca Fries was crack! That pork chop was perfectly seasoned and with the perfect sear. The paste was al dente and the sauce is not heavy at all; very creamy and light. I told my waiter. I had a problem with my food that I wasn't happy with it and the manager came over and says that nobody's ever complained before about it. That's the first thing. The second thing was we ordered two piña coladas one for me and one for my wife and, it seemed to me like they were watered down, my wife doesn't drink so after one drink, she usually feels it she said to me that doesn't taste like there's any alcohol in the drink, so we ordered two more piña coladas with shots on the side also and put those into the piña coladas And the same thing happens where she doesn't feel anything. So I talked to the waiter and he gives me some story about when you mix alcohol and coconut that it downgrades the alcohol. I had the house special fried rice this time and it was amazing. The food is on point but the service can use work so I can't give them 5 stars. Here is the back story on walk out comment: I arrived at 7:45pm and let a waiter know my party is 15 minutes away and one less person was joining us. The manager comes up behind him and he tells him I'm not sure what she needs in Spanish. I am an Afro- Latina so yes I look Black but am quite fluent in the Spanish language. He just said ok to me and now I'm wondering why would he be the 1st to come up to me if he is unsure of the English language. Throughout the night, he proved he knew English, he didn't want to listen and understand my minor issue. I also had to learn at 8:02pm that they had happy hour til 8pm. I went here for brunch about 2 weeks ago with my family. When we walked in there wasn't a lot of people but it quickly filled up. I would recommend making a reservation if you're coming in around the more popular brunch times. The food was brought out quickly and everything was very good. The drinks were also amazing. Nothing bad to say at all. I had the French toast as well as the tres golpe(mangu,fried cheese,salami) and both were delicious. I will definitely be coming back since I live like 5 minutes away. Updated after my third visit. Everything from my first review still stands. This is a nice brunch spot. Visited this place with a large birthday group, and it was awesome. I think there had to be at least 25 of us, and they took care of us very well.
