I normally don't leave reviews, but after the experience my family and I had on Mother's Day,…read moreeveryone needs to hear about this lol. We arrived for our 2:30 reservation and let the hostess know we were there. Instead of being seated, we were awkwardly directed to the bar while there were multiple empty tables available. By almost 3:00, we were still wondering why we hadn't been seated while other groups who came in after us were getting tables first. The bartender was actually the one who noticed we had been ignored and asked if anyone had taken our order yet. We told her we hadn't even been seated. Thankfully, she stepped in and helped. Once we finally got to our table, it took another 20-25 minutes before our waitress came over. I understand she appeared to be the only server working, so I don't blame her personally, but the restaurant seriously needs to make sure they're properly staffed, especially on a busy holiday like Mother's Day. The drinks and food took forever to come out. If you're offering unlimited brunch drinks, customers should actually be able to get refills in a reasonable amount of time. There was honestly no point in paying for bottomless drinks when we barely saw refills. At that point, just leave a pitcher at the table. The food portions were also disappointing. The appetizers barely had any food on the plates, and the Rasta pasta came with maybe two tiny pieces of chicken thrown on top. I've had Rasta pasta many times before, and this definitely was not it. What really made the experience worse was the customer service from another staff member , the woman with the very obvious botched BBL. She came over asking if she could clear things from the table and whether we needed anything. I politely asked for another mimosa refill for my mom because she had literally been sipping the same drink since we arrived around 3 ish it was 5:30 when we were asked this. She then came back asking if we wanted the bill. I reminded her that I had just asked for a refill, and her response was, "I can't do that, we have to take this somewhere else. I have to seat other people and your time is up" Excuse me? Then our actual waitress came over and clarified that our time wasn't even up yet and that we still had 25 minutes left. Clearly nobody there was communicating with each other because moments later the same woman came back AGAIN telling us we needed to get up because she had to seat other people. The way she spoke to us was incredibly rude and unprofessional. No customer should be approached like that, especially after already waiting forever for service the entire visit. Overall, horrible organization, poor communication, slow service, disappointing food portions, and disrespectful customer service. Definitely not the Mother's Day experience we expected

I remember when Fish N' Ting first opened several years ago and I'm pleased to know that this family run establishment is still kicking. I would put it in my top five list for Jamaican restaurants in the city. The menu is wide and varying and accommodating of different diets. If you love jerk chicken, you need to try it here! The jerk chicken lovers in my life can't get enough. My recommended dishes are the whiting (fried) with rice and peas, rasta pasta and now the lobster (which I didn't know they had). The seafood is made to order, fresh and super tasty. I never thought sweet chili and lobster would be a good combo but it totally rocks! It was truly delectable. My only issue is that they charge for gravy if the dish isn't saucy (as if) lol but I get it!

My order took about 25 minutes, but the escovitch snapper was clearly made fresh. The rice and peas with steamed cabbage were flavorful and delicious. The fish had a nice spice, but the escovitch dressing was missing that signature tang--didn't taste like it had any vinegar, which was a little disappointing. Not the best escovitch I've had, but still satisfying overall.

Follow me @theblackgirlatleisure on all socials for more reviews…read more Cocktails/Drinks: 8/10 I've visited Ranch Caribbean Vybez two times within the last month or so. Their drink menu is creative and includes some of your favorite wines, spirits/classic cocktails. I've ordered/Tasted: The No Woman No Cry Two different Chardonnays (don't remember the names) Mojito Extra Dirty Gin Martini (wasn't my favorite, it tasted like maybe there was vermouth missing from it or there wasn't enough. Still pretty good though.) Each of these drinks were really good! My favorite was the No Woman No Cry, it tasted really tropical. A nicely balanced cocktail that wasn't too sweet! Food: 10/10 The food has come out hot, fresh and delicious each time I visited. I've had: Coconut Shrimp (crispy, really nice crunch, nice amount of coconut) Lamb Tacos (these were made with curry which was something new for me, loved it!) Jerk Ribs (these were SO good! Tender and seasoned to perfection) Mozzarella Sticks () Service: 9/10 I've gone during a slower evening and during one where it was more packed. The first night I was seated immediately at the bar and was taken care of very quickly. The feeling that I got was very pleasant and welcoming. I know this was a courtesy, but my gf and I were able to stay a little past closing (don't expect this when you visit, I just wanted to share to let you all know how kind they were!) The second time I visited it was more busy because they were hosting an event. At this time food took longer to come out. Other than that, the servers did the best they could. Ambiance: 10/10 The ambiance here gives really fun girls night, good music, after work drinks, and a perfect place to have a yap session or even just a chill dinner in a beautiful place with friends. I love how welcoming the staff makes everyone feel and how they check on the tables just enough (and not when you're mid bite ). The Bronx needs more places like this! Overall: 9.25/10 I'll definitely be coming back to hangout with my girlfriends. I think this spot is so cute, the food and drinks are high quality and it's just overall really good VYBEZ (wink). Definitely come here during the week. Their happy hour menu feels ILLEGAL because the prices are so good and the food is even better.

Well not only was the pepper shrimp spicy but it was the best I've ever had. The shrimp was so big plumped and juicy. I didn't expect it to be nicely coated with such delicious flavor. My mouth is still watering as I write this review. I paid a little over $17, but it didn't bother me because it was fresh shrimp and veggies and of the amount of food I received was a lot. I mean they could have threw in a free small beverage to go along with it, but I wasn't mad, because this is NYC. I've paid higher prices for food that had less amounts and not even worth the price, but anyway I digress. The restaurant is quite small but big enough for you to stay and dine if you wanted. Along with great customer service, and delicious food a girl couldn't ask for anything more. Not to mention they were playing music to bop your head along with. I don't know if I would return for anything else on the menu right away because I would be hooked to buying the pepper shrimp again. When I get past that I would try something else. Overall, my meal was five stars but since I've only had one amazing item, and I don't know yet If it would be consistent , Im giving them four stars. I think they are worth visiting. Thumbs up and Happy Yelping!

It's a family-owned, halal establishment known for generous portions, and it has been a community staple for over 25 years. I heard about Carifesta on social media and wanted to check it out. My daughter and I drove from Connecticut to try the food. When we arrived, the staff told me there would be a 45-minute wait. No problem. We ordered the Guyanese Chicken with Lo Mein, Jerk Chicken Sliders, and the Guyanese Fried Chicken. The Guyanese Fried Chicken was very flavorful but overfried. The chicken had a bone, and as I ate, it fell apart, which told me it was overfried. Next, I tried the Chicken with Lo Mein, and the noodles were overcooked and lacked flavor. The chicken was good and tasted like baked chicken. It had good flavor, but it wasn't out of this world. My daughter had the Jerk Chicken Sliders, and she said they were okay. She said she tasted the Jerk flavor, but the chicken lacked flavor. I'm not sure if they were having an off day, but if I'm in the area, I would give them another tryout.
