I've been wanting to make a visit for a long time and they didn't disappoint. I heard about the pepper shrimp and most places I've tried it fell to deliver the spice. Well not only was the pepper shrimp spicy but it was the best I've ever had. The shrimp was so big plumped and juicy. I didn't expect it to be nicely coated with such delicious flavor. My mouth is still watering as I write this review. I paid a little over $17, but it didn't bother me because it was fresh shrimp and veggies and of the amount of food I received was a lot. I mean they could have threw in a free small beverage to go along with it, but I wasn't mad, because this is NYC. I've paid higher prices for food that had less amounts and not even worth the price, but anyway I digress. The restaurant is quite small but big enough for you to stay and dine if you wanted. Along with great customer service, and delicious food a girl couldn't ask for anything more. Not to mention they were playing music to bop your head along with. I don't know if I would return for anything else on the menu right away because I would be hooked to buying the pepper shrimp again. When I get past that I would try something else. Overall, my meal was five stars but since I've only had one amazing item, and I don't know yet If it would be consistent , Im giving them four stars. I think they are worth visiting. The chicken was good and tasted like baked chicken. It had good flavor, but it wasn't out of this world. My daughter had the Jerk Chicken Sliders, and she said they were okay. I was so excited to finally try carifesta Guyanese restaurant after waiting so long, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I waited 20 minutes for my food, got into my car ready to eat, opened the container, and this is what I received. I've visited here twice, which on both visits I got the chicken fry rice which was amazing. I had it the first time and I had to come back second time to make sure my first visit wasn't a fluke, the order reminds me of Caribbean Chinese food. The chicken was seasoned to the bone and the rice was tasty. My only recommendation is to clarify the menu as I did have some difficulties understanding it. Luckily the person taking orders explained the menu, for someone who orders chicken fry rice from a Chinese restaurant, i expect chucks/ pieces of chicken in the rice but that wasn't case, I was given vegetable fry rice and quarter chicken chopped up and placed on the rice, which i absolutely loved, then I ask for shrimp fry rice and she explained it's shrimp that's cooked in the rice and not placed on top of the rice. So you see my confusion. So if it's your first time order, ask questions so you know what you are getting But all and all, the food is amazing, I plan to go back for their duck fry rice. read more

I have been up and down White Plains Road in search of the best Jerk Chicken and had not found anything that held my attention since when Arawak used to be the spot to go to before they closed. Looking for something different to eat other than the traditional Friday night take out, I stumbled upon the Yelp review of Carifesta which offers a fusion of West Indian and Asian dishes. I cannot more highly recommend the Jerk Chicken Fried Rice meal. Rarely, do I order any dish that I do not put some type of hot sauce on. I am glad I tasted before adding any sauce because the rice was perfectly seasoned and moist. And the most exciting part of my Carifesta experience is that finally... finally I had the Spicy Jerk Chicken I was looking for. It is not drenched in sauce, and not dull in flavor... This Jerk Chicken has just the right amount of heat and kick. I will most definitely be back there. I came here really unexpectedly with my family because I wanted to try Guyanese Chinese cuisine. We ordered the jerk chicken fried rice, roasted duck fried rice, and house fried rice which comes with beef and shrimp. It took approximately twenty minutes to receive our food which was good considering that everything is made fresh. The woman in the front is super nice too. As for the food, I LOVED the jerk chicken. It was spicy and flavorful. I've tried a lot of jerk chicken recipes that aren't as spicy as I like, many are too sweet for me. But carifesta probably has the best jerk chicken I've ever tried. My mom loved the house fried rice too, she said it's completely different than the fried rice you get at your local Chinese spots. Only thing I wasn't a fan of though was the roast duck. I know duck is a very fatty meat but the roast duck had a weird smell to it. I probably wouldn't order that next time I come here. I'd maybe opt for the shrimp or the jerk chicken again. This is the best Guyanese/Chinese style food in NY!!!! -REAL DEAL ALERT! I love this place. Their curry goat is amazing, but call early or else it will be finished. The jerk chicken is mouth watering! The pepper shrimp is another one of my favorites. And of course their Chicken fried rice is a MUST! It is a very nice family owned restaurant. I have knows the owner for years, until he opened another location in Queens. Now his daughter picked right up where he left off, and I must say..she's doing great! Friendly people, yummy food.
