Chicken fry rice aka fry chicken with vegetable fry rice
    Erickson R.

I've visited here twice, which on both visits I got the chicken fry rice which was amazing. I had it the first time and I had to come back second time to make sure my first visit wasn't a fluke, the order reminds me of Caribbean Chinese food. The chicken was seasoned to the bone and the rice was tasty. My only recommendation is to clarify the menu as I did have some difficulties understanding it. Luckily the person taking orders explained the menu, for someone who orders chicken fry rice from a Chinese restaurant, i expect chucks/ pieces of chicken in the rice but that wasn't case, I was given vegetable fry rice and quarter chicken chopped up and placed on the rice, which i absolutely loved, then I ask for shrimp fry rice and she explained it's shrimp that's cooked in the rice and not placed on top of the rice. So you see my confusion. So if it's your first time order, ask questions so you know what you are getting But all and all, the food is amazing, I plan to go back for their duck fry rice.

I had high expectations from this place. Placed order for pick up.. I ordered their fried chicken. On the website/menu the price was listed as $11 but I was charged $13. The chicken was not crispy and portion was extremely small for the price. The chicken has an off taste to it and was missing a sauce on the side. Unfortunately I won't be back.

So happy I listened to the reviews! I'm not even half way through the food and I had to stop and write this review. I'm always skeptical ordering from new places on Uber eats, but this Jerk Chicken Fried Rice is perfection on a plate!! The fried rice has to be top 5 best fried rices I've had. Jerk chicken is definitely a bit spicy and being African I'm use to spice but it's that you can't stop eating it spicy. More then satisfied with my order and will most definitely be ordering again (maybe the shrimp for next time).

D E L I C I O U S! Great food and customer service. Everything is made with TLC and absolute freshness. The food is well seasoned and honestly there is no bad thing in their menu. You will be in awe with anything that you order. Such friendly service. They are truly customer oriented and connected to the surrounded community. I'm not one to eat spicy foods but I definitely eat that jerk chicken!! Even if I have drink it with a glass a milk...it's way too good to put down An overall great restaurant and definitely recommend it.

Jerk Chicken Fried Rice, So Good!!! ($9.00)

Loved it. I have been up and down White Plains Road in search of the best Jerk Chicken and had not found anything that held my attention since when Arawak used to be the spot to go to before they closed. Looking for something different to eat other than the traditional Friday night take out, I stumbled upon the Yelp review of Carifesta which offers a fusion of West Indian and Asian dishes. I cannot more highly recommend the Jerk Chicken Fried Rice meal. Rarely, do I order any dish that I do not put some type of hot sauce on. I am glad I tasted before adding any sauce because the rice was perfectly seasoned and moist. And the most exciting part of my Carifesta experience is that finally... finally I had the Spicy Jerk Chicken I was looking for. It is not drenched in sauce, and not dull in flavor... This Jerk Chicken has just the right amount of heat and kick. I will most definitely be back there. The only hard part is now going to be deciding to get the Jerk Chicken again, or experiment with another dish.

If you want authentic and I mean AUTHENTIC Halal/Carribean cuisine CARIFESTA is the place to go to. From everything to spice and flavor with consistency each meal you receive will never disappoint. They offer catering at a great price and the portions for catering as well as individual ordering are amazing. I welcome all to get some CARIFESTA in your life you won't regret it. P.S the owners are extremely nice and courteous to their customers.

They don't have a consistent schedule. They shut down the Bronx location. You need to call ahead to see if they are open. DO NOT POP UP.

Rice & Peas & Tings is located toward the rear of the Bronx Terminal Market food court. I wound up here early on a Sunday morning and decided to give them a try. After the warm greeting, I asked if it was too early for stew chicken and was told 'Course not'. I was given a hearty serving of food, with EXTRA GRAVY like I requested. I could have fallen in love right there. I grabbed one of the many available tables, near the Christmas tree, so I could look wistfully out, onto...the highway. While the plate was plentiful, the chicken I received was small boney pieces. If you look, you can see the chicken back in my picture. This is not exactly a complaint (bones are for chewing), but I would have liked to have more actual meat. The chicken itself was also slightly sweeter than my preference, but still very good. Honestly they had me at the extra gravy and could probably do no wrong. The rice and veg were both well cooked and I have no complaints on either. I will definitely return and try different things from the menu (looking at you oxtail).

Saw a large sign boasting, Rice & Peas & Tings, so I strolled over. Behind the counter was this cordial young gentleman who I had a lengthy conversation with. In a part of our conversation he informed me that they recently opened in the Terminal in 2024 and they are eagerly looking forward to sharing their food with the masses. For the undecided, samples are offered to help in any decision making. I didn't accept his offer of samplings, but what better way to entice someone. They have a DJ so if you're looking to vibe while enjoying Ghanian food, this could be the spot. It was my first time trying Malt and the best way I can describe it is it tastes like molasses, slightly bitter, slightly yeasty but very mild overall. We started off with the Chicken Suya which was a bit dry and chewy but the suya seasoning made all the difference. It tastes like a blend of chili powder, ginger, garlic, onion powder, paprika, etc. It was a fine starter but definitely skippable. For entrees, we got the Street Waakye and Jollof Queen. I've had waakye (pronounced waa-che) before but this was pretty dry. The spaghetti was light and I actually liked that they used thinner noodles rather than the regular spaghetti. This dish comes with fried fish which was light, flaky, and moist. The real winner was the goat stew. I'm salivating just thinking about it! You get the essence of tomato, the tenderness and slight gamey flavor from the goat, and the thick and luscious sauce that was an explosion of flavors. I even dipped the boiled egg into the sauce which was unbelievably satisfying. The jollof rice from the Jollof Queen was cooked way better than the waakye. It was moist, well-seasoned, and didn't really need anything added to be good. I loved the sweet plantains and the chicken was also well-prepared. Considering how much jollof rice there was and that it was ~$25, they could've given more than 2 pieces of chicken. Overall, it was a pretty good meal! When the bill came, I saw there was an automatic 18% gratuity added which is totally fine considering we were a party of 7. However, they then pointed out that this wasn't tip and was a fee for "the table". I eat out a lot and never in my life have I heard of this. We ended up adding another 10% on top of that. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. I don't agree with them trying to squeeze out more money from customers who are already coming and spending money; this is definitely not the norm anywhere else I've been. Not too many restaurants in NYC serving Ghanaian cuisine but you'll enjoy some traditional dishes here.
