Black-Owned Trinidadian Mom and Pop type restaurant located in Castle Hill. Jenny's Roti Shop thankfully honored our Yelp/Grubhub order all the way to Throggs Neck. You know how music can bring back a memory? Certain meals can do that also. Well, while having Jenny's those Trinidadian flavors brought me back to the good old days of about 15 or so years ago. Damn, it's been a long time! (Eric B. & Rakim just came to mind.) Anyway. Jenny's meal of Jerk Chicken had that extra spiciness just the way I like it. Then there's the order of Stew Chicken. The Trini flavors were prominent in this dish, with that extra gravy melding in nicely into the Rice and Peas and side of mashed pumpkin. Mmm mmm mm!! Plus, can't forget my favorite accompaniment, Buss Up Shut. Setting things off with those fluffy, warm sheets of dough to wrap your meaty sauced stews in. Man, those combos brought me back! They also included Dhalpuri to soak up the order of Boneless Curry Chicken with chunks of potatoes to create your own Roti. Everything was perfect with the exception of one forgivable misstep...the missing Oxtail. We included an order of Oxtail that did not arrive. But the error was quickly remedied within the hour with an email apology and a credit for the cost. High Five on the Customer Service Score! I was ordering one of the rotis for someone else and they didn't answer me back how they wanted it done so I kept going back-and-forth with her and she was so ultra patient. I totally appreciate that. Customer service, good customer service, is what it's all about in the food industry and in any business. Well, Well.. this little place was a pleasant surprise. I was running errands and came across this little gem. I looked in and there was a line. Lines are a good sign. As I looked at the menu everything looked delicious: I finally decided on the chicken roti special with extra sauce. As I headed back to work I could not wait to sink my teeth into that chickenroti. I am not giving Jenny's 1 star because their food is bad. Their food is actually very good. I am not giving this to them because they are rude or have terrible service. They are very sweet. Me and my wife are long time customers and have been treated very well up to now. I am doing this because they dropped the ball tonight. Through Seamless/Grubhub, in-where we are also long-time patrons, the driver assigned to deliver food, Raysa, was tracked coming to our home but never delivered the food and even hung-up on my wife, when my wife called her after receiving a 'Delivered' alert. Jenny's participation should have been to contact Seamless in order to keep and secure their customers (that would be us). They didn't. Instead, they passed the responsible to us to do it. Though a refund was finally given after a lot of customer representative back and forth arguing (note that for yourself, when dealing with Seamless/Grubhub about their delivery people that mess up or mess with your order), now Jenny's reputation and patronage is ruined with us. A real and thorough business not only would have placed the called after hearing the complaint from one of their customers, they would have insured a replaced order was delivered in order to maintain that relationship. That didn't happen. As it stands now, Jenny's is on a very long probationary period with us (which means, they lose money from us and others we know). We are known for dropping businesses due to these type of practices and boycotting them officially (Social Media Blitz and other forms of Preventive Service). Consider this a warning to those that do business with Jenny's. They will make your food but they don't have your back in getting it. read more

Ive been here about 4 times & I really want to like this place, especially being one of the only Trini spots in the BX but the food could be better. The staff are really sweet people but the food always needs more seasoning. Not enough salt, curry, etc & the food is overpriced. So I know with Covid things are usually delayed, but I have YET to have an issue with Jenny's. I've tried two other "roti shops" that were close enough to Harlem and this is BY FAR the best!!!! Doubles are perfect (which is hard to do when sending them for delivery because I like my doubles sloppy lol). The Chana is cooked to perfection and they flavor is perfect and it's NOT soggy! And the goat roti (insert heart eyes). The portion is a bit smaller than I'm used to but honestly, that works out in my favor cause this is the third day in a row I'm getting it cause I'm too lazy to cook, and the potato starting to show on meh belly lol. Had their double and saheena Doubles was ok the bara that is the channa was dark not at all what channa is supposed to be or looks like( jera channa and not the flavored (shadow Benny ) channa that's supposed to be in doubles . Against my better judgment I had Jenny's saheena basically there's no rolled taro leave and dhal filling this version is spinach chopped super fine to look like confetti in seasoned (masala/jera dough and deep fried it was the texture of a Guyanese float /fried bake . This place is super solid. Basically everything on the menu is excellent and the people working there are genuinely great. A lot of roti spots can be hit or miss but this place is always on point. One thing to watch out for is that because the place is popular if you get there late (ie right before closing) they're likely to be sold out of many items on the menu.
