This place has kind of fallen off, IMO. The last time we came here, we brought my hubby's cousin since he was visiting from Florida. We had a good table, the staff was nice and accommodating but the food was horrible compared to my prior visits. They completely messed up our appetizer orders, giving us the wrong proteins with our tostone sliders. They looked pretty but they were not made right. I ordered their oxtail risotto because, that's the dish that had me in love with the place when I first visited. Unfortunately, this time it was far too salty and the risotto was way overdone. Since I was starving, I just ate what I could because, if you know me and my reviews, I never order anything else if I have to send a dish back to the kitchen. I'll sit and starve and then pick up something from somewhere else (don't judge). We've had 50/50 experiences since my vey first visit but I think this will he the last time we give them another shot. From what I've heard, they've changed chefs and that could be the reason for the inconsistency. Either way, Travesias won't be my next stop. read more

This is my third time visiting this restaurant and the aesthetics are beautiful. This is a perfect blend of Latin and Asian food. My partner always orders the Chofan and he's obsessed with it. I personally liked this place, I really wish it was in a slightly nicer neighborhood but I think they did great. The food was amazing, the presentation was very nice and they even have a backdrop outside for those that would like memorable pictures. I made reservations for Father's Day for five adults at 5pm. We all arrive around 5:05pm we spoke to a male that was in front of the door told them we had a reservation he rush back inside looking confused. We waited about 5 minutes more until a women came out asking if we would like to sit outsides because they had no room inside. We declined because it was rainy and windy. Weather was at 67 degrees a bit cooler and I also had a my grandma with us. The women went back inside looking confused speaking to the male we saw early. She later came out saying she has no table for us even though I called and made a reservation. She can't give me a reason on why they didn't inform me this when I called and made the reservation. Told her that's it's very uncomfortable all she kept saying was " I don't know what happened" very unprofessional. I was left trying to find somewhere else to eat last minute with my family for Father's Day. I don't recommend this place for any holiday's. They are all over the place nothing is in order. Wow, wow, wow. This place gets an a plus just for the cleanliness. Bright and beautifully decorated. The outdoor seating area was warm and clean and felt like i was inside, outside. We were greeted right away and were not unattended for a moment. Drinks were served right away I had a delicious caipirinha, followed by shredded goat and cheese wheat croquettes. I don't really go to the bronx but I'm glad I went this time! The moment you enter this small restaurant, you get greeted by a worker smiling at you. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoors since we were with a large party. They allowed us to have the table which was by the corner decoration. Pictures are attached. I heard that they tend to change the decorations every so often. We were able to set up balloons and small decorations by that corner. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty quiet. I'm assuming that it's because they are in the process of getting their liquor license renewal. At this time, they had delicious mock tails until their get their liquor license. The food was great and the service was awesome. The servers were all very attentive of us and kept asking if we were okay. We were amazed by the the dishes. One is a seafood mix which wasn't great, one is chicken which was good, and the other is a Cuban sandwich was great! The best Sangria i have ever had!! This restaurant has been on my radar for about a year now! From start to finish i was impressed with the service, the food and the drinks. What i loved was the decor of the restaurant changes every season, so it's a different experience every time you go! We went for brunch and they provide a prefix menu for $38 per person. It includes an appetizer, and entree and a carafe of sangria or mimosa per person. Gratuity is already added to your bill just FYI. We ordered both Travesias Tres Golpes ( plantain croquette, fried salami and cheese, fried egg, bechamel). This is a dish you don't share because it was that good! If you are hungry i would get this because It's pretty filling. The plating was beautiful and i loved how they elevated a traditional South American dish. For our entrees we ordered the Lomo Saltado, which is seared stack and a breakfast box. The breakfast box had chicken, bacon, cheese, fries and avocado sauce. Lastly the drinks we ordered a sangria and mimosa and shared them. Both were so good but the sangria hands down was the best i have ever had! I had made reservations for 7pm but we arrived earlier than expected (6:30pm) and we were accommodated immediately despite how busy they were. For our appetizer, we ordered the Bangkog Calamari which was nothing I've had before and I've had my share of fried calamari in my life time lol. It was crispy perfectly cooked not chewy and the delicious passion fruit sauce it was slightly tossed in was OMG amazing! My daughter had chicken fingers and fries- good portion and the tenders tasted so fresh and nicely seasoned- she ate all of it and she never eats all her food lol. My mother had the Sizzling Salmon entree which arrived sizzling to the table, looked phenomenal and she loved it. I had the LobsterFongo and it was soo darn good I took my sweet time savoring every bite. My dish looked like a work of art! I could have that mofongo for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!! Lol! The lobster was well seasoned, tender and juicy, perfectly positioned over the mofongo which was on top of a white creamy garlic sauce that was to die for. For desert we shared the Chocolate Lava Cake with creamy vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce.... so delish! Overall our meal was spot on A+. Our waitress was nice but hoped she would have been more attentive as I had to try to make eye contact numerous times to get her attention and our entree took quite some time to arrive. We were seated at 6:30pm we got our apps in good time but our meal didn't arrive till almost 55 minutes later. Not a huge deal as I understand it was a busy Sunday evening, our glasses were being replenished by additional staff constantly which was great and the food was so fresh and delicious that I have no hesitation to give Travesias Restaurant a 5 Star rating! I came here on a Saturday late afternoon just on a whim. there was quite a few seatings outside so we walked in and asked if we could be seated. We were seated immediately with no issues. Service was pretty good. The hostess waiter and bus boys were very attentive. Food was absolutely delicious. we ordered the empanada trio and each one of them was very flavorful. and the sauce to go with the empanada trio was even more delicious. I had the skirt steak medium and it was moist and very flavorful. my guess had the shrimp with the rice and really enjoyed the dish. The sangria was delicious and just strong enough. Travesias, WOW! The first encounter/impression is 10/10 because of the beautiful outdoor patio your eyes are astonished by when you arrive! The ambiance is a VIBE. Now the wait was a bit long in terms of food but all that told me was that everything was being made fresh to order. I also didn't mind waiting because I was entertained by the range of Bachata and Latin music being played over the speakers. Frida's Bubbles was delicious. The food was worth waiting for. We had the appetizer sampler and the To' Chimi Burgers which were so good and tasty. The sampler was enough for 2 to share and definitely a great way to try out different appetizers.
