Jasey was our server and although she was in training she was super knowledgeable about the menu. We went on a Tuesday without knowing they have a steak dinner for two special so there was a little bit of a wait. The restaurant is located on the river so we opted to sit on the back deck, also we had our dogs. We were quickly served our drinks and after some questions about the menu we ordered. I tried the spinach salad with cranberries and a raspberry vinaigrette and my husband tried the creole salad with a blend of lettuces, tomatoes, carrots, cheese and hard boiled egg. It had a dusting of creole seasoning and he topped it with honey mustard. We both enjoyed our salads. My husband also had a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo which he really liked. I wasn't as hungry but since Jasey had great things to say about the crawfish Etoufee I had a cup to go, incidentally I enjoyed it for breakfast. The building is older and could use some tlc, but it was clean. I would recommend giving them a try, maybe not Tuesday night unless you want the steak special. read more

This is a great restaurant located next to the river, that's serving up great food. After looking at the number of cars in the large parking lot across the street I was somewhat skeptical that we were going to be able to find a seat, but our timing was perfect and we were able to be seated just after 12:00 PM with no wait. The service was just okay during this lunch service but they were working hard they just seemed to be a little overwhelmed but it wasn't horrible. On the other hand the food here is amazing and arrived at our table in a timely manner. Fried Crawfish App - a mound of perfectly fried crawfish tails with a nice spicy seasoning served with a side of remoulade sauce. Chicken and Sausage Gumbo - this is great Gumbo which was a little surprising to me being this is northeastern Louisiana but apparently the chefs not from the area. The roux was a little lighter than I'm used to but the texture was perfect. The chicken was fall apart tender and the sausage was absolutely delicious. This gumbo was not spicy but it was seasoned well and had tons of flavor, of course adding a few dashes of hot sauce elevated it from good to great. Cheese Burger & Fries - beautifully crafted burger, in my opinion it all starts with the meat and this burger was delicious and cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. The artisan bun was just as insane and the shredded lettuce, ripe tomato slice, and sweet red onion took this burger to the next level. I also enjoyed the fries but only a few since there was so much food in front of me. This is one restaurant in West Monroe that you must try and a place I'll definitely return to given the opportunity. read more

Arrived about 8:30 on a Wednesday night. Party of two. Seating was prompt. Hostess came by to get our drink order because our server was tied up with a large party. Very nice, this is looking good. Seafood nachos for an appetizer. Like everyone has written, it is enormous and could almost be an entree for two. Loved the house made potato chips and tons of tasty, fried crawfish tails. Plenty of medium shrimp but they were tasteless. He ordered the crawfish smothered catfish, salad and corn. The corn side was very unusual but tasty. He said the catfish was good but not memorable. I ordered the chicken and sausage jambalaya. It was similar to when you make a big pot of chicken pilau for a crowd and it sits around on the stove for awhile. And when you get to the bottom, the chicken is all dark and dry. My jambalaya was similar. It sat around for a while. Is that what you should expect when you order something an hour and a half before the kitchen closes? I don't think so. 86 it from the menu and don't serve it. Couldn't differentiate between the chicken and the sausage because they were both dried out, a dark brown color, and the exact same color as the rice. Visually it wasn't very appetizing. It did taste better than it looked but that's not saying much. I've eaten enough jambalaya around Louisiana and New Orleans proper and I was disappointed. Was it terrible? No. Would I order it again? No. Would I return to Trapp's? Maybe. But that's not saying much. read more

Candace Fortier I went there on a family vacation. It was rated highly in several places. When we got there the line was not that long but we waited 15-20 minutes until someone came to seat us. I asked to sit outside but was told that a large party was coming and had reserved it and I would not be able to. We were seated at the window where we could see the deck but that was about it. We did go walk by the water outside of the restaurant after we left and the view is nowhere near as nice as the pictures. We waited another 45 minutes for our waiter to take drink orders and I told him we knew what we wanted and ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals. After another long wait, we got our drinks and our meal. We never did get our appetizer. During all this time there were 2 tables that I could see on the deck that were empty the whole time and we watched people leave several other tables on the deck and other people be seated out there. Some of those tables were given their food before we got ours. I did call the waiter over several times about the appetizer, our drinks, etc. but that didn't speed up the process. We spent 2 hours total time here. It may have been okay if we were on the deck but where we were sitting was horrible, the food was not all that good, and the wait staff and host were unaccommodating, almost rude. We took most of the food in go boxes. I would not recommend this restaurant and won't be returning. read more

If you're a "Yankee" you're treated like a second class citizen. The one time I had decent service the bartender revealed she was also from Michigan, seeing my Central Michigan hoodie. That was my first time dining there. It was a good experience, so I went back. The second time the wait staff shot me dirty looks the entire time. When the waitress dropped off my food she turned her head away to not even look at me. If you're a local, or at least from the south, you're good to go. If you're from out of state (especially if you're in town for work) get fast food and sit in your empty hotel room. It'll be less dehumanizing than eating at this establishment. read more

Probably ordered the wrong thing, got sucked in by all the awesome pictures of the seafood nachos and someone who considers themselves a nacho connoisseur, was gravely disappointed. Well very impressive to look at and proportions was excellent, the nachos we're lacking in both taste and flavor. The potato chips seem to be overly baked or fried and non-salted so they were very plain. The queso was also very bland with little to no spice. Thank God for the jalapeños though. I think this place is just well reviewed because the people who eat here are regulars that don't go elsewhere often. Portions are small, flavors are solid but not outstanding, service is pretty fast and attentive. The real killer is how much you pay for pretty mid food.
