Service was attentive on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was not very busy at all. I was traveling alone on business so sat at the bar. Alcohol selection, far below par, no tonic available, but settled for a bourbon instead of which very few to choose from. The bartender was nice and poured a good drink. I was interested in lobster and crab, the server took my order and recommended the snow crab and lobster. The lobster tail was surprisingly good, got it with medium spice and Cajun seasoning. The crab was OK had a time of it getting the meat out, but I guess that's normal and I'm not very experienced. Only complaint was the dipping butter they provided was not actually butter, but something else, probably whirl, which in case you don't know is a butter oil substitute. All in all a good experience. Cost 46 bucks before tip for lobster and snow crab, which seems like a pretty good deal. I'll probably go back but only because it's very convenient and close to the hotel area I stay in. read more

Me and my crew decided to have an early dinner here, and it did not disappoint. Jody was taking care of us, and she was very informative on what we should order. I decided for the pound of snow crab and that comes with sausages, a potato, and a corn. Get the house sauce medium spice, it's delicious and oh so good. My fiancé and I were really looking forward to trying this place since the reviews were so good, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. We arrived around 8:00 PM and waited about 30 minutes for our crawfish (which is understandable) The egg and potatoes were good, but we did not receive the sausage that was supposed to come with the order. We also didn't even finish the potatoes. The crawfish itself was very soggy and most of them had straight tails, which was concerning and not the quality we expected. We calmly brought this to their attention and explained that we understood they close at 10:00 PM and weren't asking them to remake the batch -- we just didn't feel comfortable paying for the entire order given the quality. The waitress was kind and seemed sympathetic, but after speaking with the manager, we were told they could only offer 15% off and a free pound of shrimp for "next time." We explained that we're from out of town and wouldn't be able to use that offer. What was most disappointing was that the manager never came to speak to us directly and didn't seem interested in resolving the situation. We ultimately paid the full tab and left rather than escalating it further. Overall, the food was pretty bad, the waitresses were very nice, but the management handled the situation poorly. The outside of the building is a little rundown but don't let that scare you away. I was also a little scared because at 1pm on a Saturday there were only a few people there;however, shortly after a bunch of tables started to fill up. There are a lot of tables and specials are listed when you walk in - read the board. They also have a full bar to order from. The staff greated us as we walked in and our server was beyond friendly and checked on us many times. We got the weekend special which easily fed the two of us. We did the everything butter sauce with med spice - to me the med was a mild/med if you like more heat I think hot would be ok - we will try hot next time. All of the seafood was cooked well not rubbery at all. Other reviews said this was more like Asian seafood - maybe not pure Cajon options but the seasoning was Cajon. We had corn, potatoes, eggs, peel and eat shrimp, crab legs and sausage slices. Overall for $52 (with tax and tip) we ate very well. I stopped here for a quick lunch on my own when I was in town for work. The staff was very welcoming and I was seated and helped right away. It was not busy when I came so the wait for food and drinks was minimal. There are tons of seafood items on the menu, but I settled on a catfish and shrimp basket just because it seemed like the smallest item on the menu and I didn't really want leftovers. Me and my family were staying in Monroe, LA for the weekend and found this place. Now the outside may not look like much but the inside is very nicely decorated and we loved the ambience. The customer service was 10/10 from our waitress Katie. She was so nice and attentive and what we liked the most was she was honest about any questions we had about the food or drinks. She gave us recommendations and overall made our experience delightful. What we valued was the honesty being our first time here. The seafood boils were freaking delicious and FULL of flavor! The Cajun and garlic really fill the area when you open the bags. First and last time here at Laughing Crab. Got there right when they opened so we were only 2 of 3 people in the whole restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and polite. The restroom had an overpowering smell of cleaning product despite still visibly looking dirty. We put in our orders and were told a 6 minute wait and had about a 30 minute wait despite it not being busy. My sweet tea was so sweet that you could hardly drink it. Way too much sugar. Once we got our food we both had noticed that the food didn't taste fresh. The black muscles I had ordered did not taste fresh and almost had a discoloration to the meat. I decided to still give them a try and that was a big mistake. After leaving the restaurant with a hefty bill considering the food wasn't that great at all I started to feel sick. I ended up getting food poisoning and feeling sick the rest of the night. Save your money and your health. If you choose to eat here please beware. read more

The place is large, plenty of seating for everyone, most of the seating is in booths, so you are seated in a semi-private setting. And you are seated right away. The service is great and the food hot and fresh. We had everything to choose. We had shrimp and crab for four, had catfish, chicken and a Po'Boy sandwich. Everything was delicious. The restaurant itself is what you would expect from a restaurant that has crab boils. The owner of the restaurant laughed in my face and lied when I asked if she was the owner. She kept walking away as I was talking to her.
