The portion sizes were tiny. I think this place is trying to be sit down nice but at the same time same time serving food on disposable foam plates and plastic forks, spoons and foam cups. It's giving roadside fish shack vibes when it could be more. Serve on real plates, and silverware. And if you aren't, maybe just serve food on a buffett style or like Subway where you pick what you want and then sit and eat?! Genuinely, the worst experience of my life at a restaurant.. Hour and 45 min wait for 10 lbs of crawfish as we watched 4 other tables being served crawfish that had arrived long after us.. the worst part - our daughter got food poisoning and was up all night, the sickest I've ever seen her. I've never had anything bad here! Definitely get the crawfish if you go during season, they are the perfect size and are seasoned very well! We could have gone without the fried pickles but they were also delicious! Ask for Sydney as your waiter if you go! She was on her game and was very attentive to what we needed! Ate there a few weeks ago. My wife and I both got the catfish poboy. It was served with "special" fries and a pickle wedge. When the poboy came out, the fis was not fresh, it had been sitting under a heat lamp and was barely warm. the "special" fries were not "special", they had also been sitting under a heat lamp, were barely warm and not crisp, were limp and not hot at all. waitress was not very good, was more interested in hanging out with the other wait staff. I've got to admit that they have the most affordable and delish crawfish in town at a steal for $4.95/lb, which can't be beat during this time of the year. The crawfish were seasoned well, not too overly salty nor too spicy! The fried seafood was also breaded and seasoned well- perfect for anyone's tastebuds! The turnip greens were prepared along with bits of bacon--kind of like a hidden treasure in your greens, making it well worth the find! The Fish House is definitely worth a trip! My family loves this casual/family-friendly place. We've been coming here for about 3 years now. We've never been disappointed. The staff is always super friendly. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms. But of course, the best thing about The Fish House is the outstanding food! The fried crawfish appetizer with remoulade is delicious, along with the fried pickles & ranch dressing. We love their chilled iceberg salads that come with the majority of entrees. Most restaurants these days serve Romaine salads, which are good, but I'll always be partial to good ol' simple iceberg. If you're a boiled crawfish lover, theirs are perfect - always piping hot & fresh. All of their fried seafood is wonderful. The jambalaya is on point. I have to say though, one of the BEST menu items at TFH is the steak. Steak certainly isn't what comes to mind when you think of dining at a seafood restaurant but it's honestly one of the best I've ever had. The seasoning is perfect. They're always cooked to the temperature of your choosing & always very juicy and tender. The steak with a baked potato and jambalaya is probably my favorite meal at TFH. I am a business traveler and The Fish House was recommended during my March 2016 trip. I stopped by for lunch today and met Brad and Cherries the owners, very very nice people and very hospitable. I inquired about something light and Brad suggested the blackened catfish over jumbalya. This dish was 5 star, had corn on the cob and turnip greens as my sides. Turnip greens were just like Grandma use to make, very well seasoned and not bland at all. This will definitely be a must stop during my trips to the Monroe/Sterlington are. read more

Catfish is perfect and how I like it, and the fried shrimp have a very nice light breading which isn't overbearing or too much and seasoned just right. They have typical sandwiches and poboys, but I opted for the special that day: chicken and chose sides of dumplings with greens and a salad. It came with hush puppies. The salad was fine, the chicken and dumplings were great and the hush puppies were amazing! I tried some fries which were also very good. Everyone at the table raved about their food.
