The lovely Spensyr was reminiscing about Louisiana spicy BBQ shrimp, so we came in for dinner. We started with gumbo. Big chunks of chicken and okra filled the cup, along with perfectly cooked rice. BBQ shrimp was salty and spicy, pretty good but I wouldn't specifically seek it out if we came back to town. Our burgers were cooked perfectly, with a crunchy crust and tender insides . Service, atmosphere, waterfront view: all on point. Here's what we ordered: Appetizer: STUFFED MUSHROOMS. They were very dry. As if they were sitting under a heat lamp or forgotten in the oven. Flavor of the crab was good, though I think I would have rather had a majority of the cheese on the bottom, mixing with the juices from the mushroom and crab instead of heavily coating the top like a crispy crust. Entrees: SHRIMP RAHKEE. Saw so many good reviews for this. I was underwhelmed and disappointed. The whole thing lacked flavor. I had to shake a generous amount of salt on top and it was still lacking flavor. Shrimp were large and juicy, they just needed more flavor. Sauce was thin, could have been thicker and more complex. All of it was just bland. I ordered this over pasta which was cooked perfectly al dente. For my sides, I got the STUFFED POTATO and ASPARAGUS. Stuffed potato was nothing to write home about-- it also tasted as if it was sitting under a heat lamp or left in the oven a bit too long; flavor wasn't bad, though.. Asparagus was asparagus. Would have preferred a nice crusty bread like a French Bread over the Texas Toast. Not terrible, but not great. My teenager ate up my shrimp. My teenager ordeeed the SHRIMP SALAD. He said "it is what it is." Nothing super special but he didn't really have any complaints. My husband ordered the PORK CHOPS with ASPARAGUS and STEAMED VEGGIES. He really Enjoyed the pork chops and shared a bite with me, which was delicious-- cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. His steamed veggies were dry and asparagus was asparagus. My youngest ordered a KIDS CHEESEBURGER. Unfortunately, much like many places serving a kids cheeseburger-- it was pretty basic. My youngest had a few bites and wasn't interested in finishing it. This is served with chips. I should mention that all of the entrees looked visually tasty and we really wanted to like them. Maybe we were just there on an off night. Our server and everyone working there was very nice and attentive. The owner gave us a hearty smile and good bye. Service itself earned half the rating for me. We were told that they were "booked" and could only seat us outside. But there were lots of empty tables inside. So we got seated outside in the sun on a hot afternoon. One of our members in the party was 88 years old and he had to sit in a high seat outside in the heat. The food was average. Only good thing was our waitress. She was amazing! read more

Waterfront grill is a must visit in Monroe. It is picturesque. It's sits on a body of water and you can see boats pass. We even saw a team practicing water skiing. There are inside and outside options. We sat inside but we were able to see the water and the turtles swimming in the water too. We started with the crab cake and it was seasoned to the perfection but the start of the show was the remulaude sauce that accompanied it. The server said the lady that makes the crab cake has been doing so since before he was born. Thank you for your service I ordered the blackened red fish with asparagus and a stuffed potato. My colleague ordered the pork chops with stuffed potato and asparagus. The asparagus was some of the best I have had at a restaurant. Seasoned down ok and NOT salty seasoned. The stuffed potato was ok We ordered deserts. I had the brownie and she had the bourbon pecan pie. The brownie with ice cream was just ok. After all that good food I wanted to be wow'd. She enjoyed the bourbon pecan pie and it was thick too. I had a Mexican mule that was perfect. If I ever have to go for work again, I'm definitely eating there. read more

The food was INCREDIBLE. The crab cakes are the best I've ever had in my life, and the catfish po-boy was life changing. The inside of the restaurant has a great feel to it. Arrived at 5pm was asked if we had a reservation. Said. NO, was from out of town and didn't know that a reservation was needed. Several dining rooms didn't appear to be busy. We stood in the doorway while several coworkers discussed where they could seat us. They offered us a table, there was only 2 tables occupied. We were greeted as soon as we were seated and asked what beverage we wanted. The drinks came quickly served by yet another server. Placed our order with Jerih (sp). Grilled pork chops and grilled redfish. Service was very good and our meals were delivered quickly. Pork chops were cooked well and vegetables tender steamed. The redfish on the other hand was over cooked and tough. The the carrots in the steamed vegetables were raw. We notified our server who offered to replace the entree but we declined. The meal was removed from our bill. There were still many open tables when we left so don't understand the issue of not having a reservation. read more

Nothing fried and a cool casual vibe. That is how I would describe the Waterfront Grill. Located on the bayou in Monroe, I ended up here with a large group of co-workers. We arrived around 12:30 and it was a packed house. Since there were ten of us we had to wait around 15 minutes and split into two groups but that worked out well. It is always so hard to try and talk to everyone at a table of ten. The menu is quite large and I was unsure what to pick. I knew I was going to have a large dinner so I decided a chef salad was a good idea. Little did I know the level of meat on the salad would be what most places use for lettuce. My salad was blackened shrimp and chicken and it was delicious. I think it was around $20 but it was a lot of food. The bowl wasn't giant but it was packed with meat. The building itself appears to have been here a very long time. There is a view of the bayou in the back half of the restaurant so I would recommend sitting there. I will be adding this to my list of places to eat when I am in town. I recommend you do too. read more

The service was good, and I really enjoyed the pan seared ahi tuna! The view of the Bayou is unbeatable.

I love eating at The Waterfront Grill that overlooks the bayou. If we're lucky the university's water ski team is practicing. So cool!! I started off with a salad with the remoulade dressing which is my favorite. The salad could have been fresher and crispier. I shared the pork chop dinner with my daughter which was delicious. This was my first experience at Waterfront so I wasn't sure what to expect, however I was impressed. We had a table that overlooked beautiful Bayou Desiard and there were people on their boat out on the water, which was fun to watch. I started with a cup of gumbo. I thought it was good. It had plenty of flavor and the perfect spice level. I didn't have to add hot sauce, I was very impressed. For my main meal I chose the "catfish desiard" as my main course. It's a pretty big catfish filet topped with parmesan cheese and served on top of mushrooms and shrimp with a side salad and a stuffed potato (twice baked potato). The fish was fresh and had great taste, the stuffed potato was DELICIOUS... the salad was lackluster but the rest made up for it. Our server was lovely and bubbly. Everyone was. In regards to Emma H.'s Response, upset? No disappointed is the word I would use. I'm glad you guys have been in business for 27 years. But that doesn't give you the right to make excuses for the last 27 years of service. Look back at your response and it consists of excuses for everything that was pointed out instead of accountability. This is a sign of bad management and a lack of care about what the public thinks. Instead of excuses, make improvements in each of these areas. As far as "Have I been to other restaurants and get back to us". I have, here and in neighboring Shreveport and Bossier. Here locally, Trapps has great services, a great menu, and great prices. And as many times as I have been there, I would say they would make an excuse for bad service or wrong orders but I can't. Because this has never happened at Trapps. And as much as I frequent them, they have had ample opportunity to mess something up. Just a couple of days ago I was at Drago's. Again, top-notch service and food. As top-end as that restaurant is here and in New Orleans, their prices and services are still way better than Waterfront for what you get. That is one issue with local restaurants, they all see what the other is doing and mimic each other instead of sticking out of the crowd and being known for doing so. We came in last Saturday evening around 7pm expecting a wait because the parking lot was full - we were immediately seated by the friendly host, who was very accommodating of our pet dog. A large reason in coming here was seeing multiple endorsements for how dog-friendly Waterfront Grill is, and they were. Our server (didn't catch a name, but he said his girlfriend was a dog groomer!) was super friendly, attentive, and made a lot of clutch recommendations, including the pork chop that my father proclaimed was "the best he'd ever tasted." I haven't been here for a while but I came in during the early afternoon for a salad that I ordered on the phone. I waited as numerous people walked around until one person finally acknowledged that I was standing there. They called someone from the back who seemed pretty irritated that she was called out while making my salad and made a comment about me arriving during shift change. I apologized. I definitely don't want to upset whomever is making my food! That didn't appear to make her less irritated. About 14 of us had a family get together here Saturday night. We had a reservation and was seated once all of the party arrived. Service was very good. The restaurant decor is typical southern seafood. Food was good. I had the barbecue shrimp and the pepper jack spinach dip. If you like hotter than hell lol than the spicy barbecue shrimp is right up your alley. The flavor is good and I like good heat but it was over the top spicy even for me. Loved the spinach dip. Most of my family had the porkchops. They had a nice char and good flavor but were a tad dry. My wife had the boiled shrimp and they were very good.
