as a visitor to Monroe, Louisiana, this restaurant was a highly recommended place. The restaurant itself was very large with a nice decorated bar. The music playing was very fun and the workers were extremely welcoming. However, given that it's near the river, it would be nice if they considered having outdoor tables, but it doesn't seem like there is much to see either way. We all got various cocktails, and I would highly recommend the lemonade if you really like something sweet. My table and I shared the duck wraps. they were filled with cream cheese jalapeño, and was wrapped in bacon. It was slightly sweet, which I didn't entirely prefer, but it was still very tasty and a unique dish that I would recommend everyone to try. I personally got A Burger and it was much larger than I thought it would be. It was very tasty, but it didn't have much sauce so it was slightly dry. The rest of my table got various seafood dishes, and they had very large portions. They all mentioned how well seasoned everything was. The one caveat of this restaurant was that everything took so long to get to our table. our waitress also didn't come check on us after delivering our food until it was time to pay, which was unfortunate. read more

Was looking for somewhere to stop on a roadtrip in Monroe, and with all the high reviews we had to make a stop. And this stop was WORTH IT. I would easily, hands down, come back here again. The service was next level - their team helped us out a ton with our party that had an animal with us that we couldn't leave in the car in the Louisiana heat. They graciously let us bring the cats crate inside and the manager said - animals lives matter just as much as human lives. Just the comment alone had me overwhelmed. Very thankful for this kind team, they even brought the cat water to our in her crate. The vibes here felt really cool, we walked in and were immediately greeted with great art, comfortable seating, and a great open space. The food - phenomenal. We got there right as lunch started and for the table we ordered the roast beef poboy, creole catfish, espresso martini, and the delectable DELTA PUDDING. I would come back for any of these dishes, but that delta pudding was seriously the winner. Stopped in here for lunch and it was empty for the most part so I was a little concerned. I sat at the bar and was greeted by immediately by the Joli. She recommended the deer camp meatloaf, so decided to try even though I'm not much a meat loaf eater. I can honestly say that was the best meatloaf I have ever had. It was so tender and flavorful. And the brussel sprouts that accompany it.....amazing! Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. We ordered via DoorDash. The portion sizes were incredibly small for the price. The pizza arrive burnt and the crust was so hard the kids couldn't eat it. My BLT wedge salad was wilted and overdressed. More of a side salad size. The amount of salad that came with the upside down Cesar was also only a few bites. The chicken was done well and the fries were so over salted (and we love salty food) that they were inedible. The banana pudding was a disappointment. It was such a small amount for $15!!! Been over four years since I have been in the area and Cottons was always a great spot. Small group of four of us. Easy parking across the street and we were seated immediately. Decent beer menu but no stouts but the has Shiner so it was on. Three of us had the item pictured. We thought it was going to be more of platter and weee surprised when it came in a bowl. The initial disappointment was quickly erased after we took our first bite. Amazing. We had the biscuits which were not as good as I remembered. I have no idea where to begin but I will just say this, when a skilled Chef gets his or her hands on quality raw ingredients, something magical happens. This was one of the rare occasions that I had to pause after every bite and just appreciate the mastery that created this symphony of flavors. The Duck rolls were perfectly seasoned slices of duck breast filled with a mixture of cream cheese, diced jalapeno peppers and wrapped in bacon, and then baked until golden brown. To add another layer of flavor to this insane dish, it was drizzled with local honey! Five stars. The homemade biscuits?! What can I say, they were as good as anything I have ever eaten, even from my mother's kitchen who was a fantastic cook, but these gorgeous pieces of heaven were beyond delicious. Flaky, moist, delicate and complimented by a flight of jellies and old-fashioned syrup. Five freaking stars! The Deer Camp Meatloaf was a slice of meatloaf resting on a bed of mashed potatos and topped with a ridiculous pile of slow-roasted, balsamic vinegar-infused Brussels sprouts, again I am not usually a fan of this veggie but damn they were good! Five flipping stars. The catfish and cheese grits were delicious as well. Not really a grits type of person, but there were part of meal, they were the only "stumble" of this epic meal. 4.5 stars. The Fried pork chop and red beans and rice was exceptional! These red beans and rice were cooked to perfection and the pork chop was thin, juicy and the breading was just enough to cover the tender chop. Easily the best meal I have had in years! Well done, Cotton. Oh! The ambiance is classy and calming tunes play as you eat and take in all the amazing art work on the walls and natural wood floors and exposed brick walls. The customer service was perfect as well!! This meal checked all the boxes. If you are ever in the Monroe area, you must stop in for an experience you will not soon forget. DO NOT FORGET DESSERT!! Steak was perfectly cooked and the portion was a good size and well seasoned. It came with a side of mashed tators with gravy and a side salad. The gravy had a seasoning in it that I couldn't figure out but came to the conclusion it was Worcestershire sauce. It was interesting. The salad was fresh and had tomato and red onions on it. I had the roast beef sandwich with cheddar cheese on it. I subbed mashed potatoes instead of the duck fat fries. The sandwich was very peppery. The beef was tender and I could tell this place uses high quality meat. The meal was a great value. The entire experience was just wrong. The old fashioned was the least amount that I have ever seen served. The redfish was served on the half shell, which isn't noted on the menu, and they brought an extra side we didn't request. When we inquired the waitress said the other side came with the meal. After the meal we were charged for our original side which was supposed to come with the meal. The manager did give us a few dollars off, but over all it was a terrible experience! read more

One of the most beautiful restaurants we've visited. We went twice - trying out the restaurant and the bar upstairs! A true historic gem. The food is amazing- we had the biscuits with cane butter and seasonal jam, upstairs at the bar we had the oysters with Parmesan, we also had the Pond and the gulf with redfish (no andouille for me though) and my husband had the gas station fried chicken and the Nashville fried chicken. EVERYTHING was perfect! Not to mention the bartenders are the bomb! The Bees Knees and Old Fashioned's we had were perfect and that's often hard to do with a Bee's Knee's. Shout out to August for that! He was just as cordial as can be as well. The other waitresses and bartenders were great also. We will make this a permanent fixture when we visit.
