The receipt I was given.

I wasn't going to write a review, but I want people to be aware of being taken advantage of. Walked into this place around 10:00 PM after traveling all day. Thought we'd grab a quick bite to eat since we were staying at the hotel just across the highway. There were no other customers in the dining area and we were immediately greeted by a guy who said he was the owner. He was very nice and friendly, even joked and chatted with us for a while. We ordered 2 creole carbonara dishes to go. $16 each. I requested shrimp on mine, which was an additional $5. When it was time to leave, we received a bill of $49.12! $16+$16+$5=$37 I asked what the reason was for the other $12. He claimed it was tax! There's no way that Louisiana's taxes are that high! My husband knows me enough to know that I will go in, so he calmly said, "That's about right", signaling for me to NOT. I signed the credit card receipt (not adding a tip) and we walked out. Whatever this guy was doing, he could just take his tip from that. It was obvious to me that he had already added in a nice big, fat tip for himself. The bottom line is: DON'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS! I don't mind tipping. As a matter of fact, I tip quite generously! But when I see people operating like this, it makes me write reviews like this and never visit your establishment again! As for the food itself, it was just ok. My husband and I ended up having heartburn all night, even though we were up pretty late. I won't be giving this place my business again.

Love this place! The waitress was fun and friendly! $4 Miller-Lite beers, fried green tomatoes and the Cajun fries were amazing! Add bonus was the great country music station playing, that our waitress found out for us was Sirius XM Channel 58 Pure Country!

Great food, service & drinks ! Sometimes they have live music as well. The burgers are especially good and the Cajun pasta is delicious.

Terrible. Grunts dry, scrambled eggs had a weird taste, toast was good. I'll leave it at that.

Great food...quick service! Better than expected from a small restaurant in a unique location.

From sitting down to the moment our group of 6 was kicked out by the owner, the service and overall ambiance was not right. For starters the waitress struggled with taking orders for our table. A robot brought us part of our order and a human never acknowledged that part of the order was missing. Human missed request that had to be repeated, human missed drink orders and made excuses to why they weren't timely. When bringing requested extra plates to the table there was a greasy substance still on the plate. Though other tables received their drinks that arrived after us, it just didn't seem right. Let's go further , the food was received cold and not warm to touch. The drinks never arrived and waitress never noticed , though we pointed out to her and others. Well after requesting a box for leftovers , that was hard to get from the waitress. It was almost comical that nearly every aspect of this visit was a terrible experience. We were from out of town and shocked a business could run as this was. We asked for the manager and was told she was on Vacation. Then told the owner was coming over from another restaurant they own. WHAT?! NO WAY two restaurants, they can't be managed the same and survived. Well we had a discussion with Bert and he asked where we were from, told us how busy they are. PSA: we were the second group of people in the restaurant at 9:15. The city of Magnolia has had this Cookoff for over 30years. I would think he should've prepared differently. Bert then told us..."I don't appreciate your Sh!@y attitude" "yall need to leave and don't worry about paying for the meal". Well our group dispersed and was soon to leave . I had more questions for Bert. I confronted him over the counter, before I could get a word out he said " I'm done get the Fu&? out of my restaurant and never come back, I don't want to see any of you ever again in MY restaurants. " then he proceeded to say, if you don't get the Fu&? Off my property I'll call the cops" This was in ear shot of our group and others at the restaurant. Well here we are, a very dysfunctional staff and owner and clearly not a fan of calm constructive criticism. Sorry Bert, and he should never act that way in front of our group and especially our wives. Do so much better Mule Kick!

Our server, Vivian, was so personable and knowledgeable. We could tell instantly that she loves what she does! A storm was coming in so we decided to just stay and enjoy ourselves. Over the course of a couple of hours we enjoyed the Firehouse Blonde, fantastic pretzel bites and then fell in love with the Day Wrecker Pilsner We left that afternoon with a growler of Day Wrecker, a t-shirt and a resolve to tell anybody who visits Natchitoches to make sure they visit Flying Heart and ask for Vivian - she's a 10 out of five! Cheers!

I arrived around dinner and searched for a spot a solo diner wouldn't be oout of place. I like breweries and this seemed like the perfect fit. Located in what appeared to be an old warehouse, the space is massive. Normally that would mean poor service, super loud people, and other issues. The last giant warehouse brewery I went to involved getting your own food and barley being able to ehar yourself think. Flying Heart broke that mold. Dining is traditional restaurant style. My server was great. He was friendly, made recommendations, and ensured I had everything I needed. While slightly loud, the place was packed and it was not overwhelming. For food, I decided to try their pizza and was impressed. I still think Bayou Teche beats them brewery pizza wise, but this was a solid pizza. If you are in Natchitoches, I encourage you to come to Flying Heart.
