A MUST!!!! On our way back home to California after road tripping to North Carolina with our dog. Wanted a place to have a good dinner (not fast food) that was also dog friendly. Check Yelp and the reviews for the Waterfront Grill were great so we headed over. Love the truly rustic vibe and the beautiful setting along the Bayou De Siard. The minute we walked up to the entry the employees were so welcoming and gracious, seriously every single one of them!!!! We sat on the deck, they brought a pitcher of water out for our dog, ordered our drinks (the bartender even came to our table to make suggestions about my drink order....and he was spot on!!!). We had the gumbo, crab cakes (house made) and grilled asparagus....all delicious! Excellent conversations with several of the staff, genuinely nice and social. Little turtle food vending machine, .25 cents for a handful....my husband turned into a little boy asking me if I had more quarters so he could feed the 50+ turtles that came swimming up below the deck for food (was pretty cool to watch them). Wonderful desserts, took the bread pudding and the pecan pie home with us ....fantastic!!! Cannot recommend this place enough!!! read more

My husband & I, along with our two dogs stopped over in Monroe on our way to Tennessee. The on- line menu of this place looked promising plus the fact they allowed dogs in the outside seating area. I liked the idea that we would have a view over water. The good things I have to say about this restaurant is that the water view was great and we had we had the sweetest, most attentive waitress who even brought out water for our dogs. The food was a giant disappointment We started off with an appetizer- Oysters Weemo. They seemed like canned oysters swimming in a pool of seasoned butter & water. It was served with store bought French bread that disintegrated when dip in the "broth." I then had the Catfish Desiard. Ugh! It's one of those dishes you walk away wishing you hadn't done that! I didn't even finish it. My stuffed potato was dense & hard to swallow. My husband had the Shrimp Rakhee. It was good. We got the Jane's White Chocolate Bread Pudding to go & had that later. It was also good, but we've definitely had better. Bottom line - not the worst place we've eaten, but also nothing to get excited about. In regards to Emma H.'s Response, upset? No disappointed is the word I would use. I'm glad you guys have been in business for 27 years. But that doesn't give you the right to make excuses for the last 27 years of service. Look back at your response and it consists of excuses for everything that was pointed out instead of accountability. This is a sign of bad management and a lack of care about what the public thinks. Instead of excuses, make improvements in each of these areas. As far as "Have I been to other restaurants and get back to us". I have, here and in neighboring Shreveport and Bossier. Here locally, Trapps has great services, a great menu, and great prices. And as many times as I have been there, I would say they would make an excuse for bad service or wrong orders but I can't. Because this has never happened at Trapps. And as much as I frequent them, they have had ample opportunity to mess something up. Just a couple of days ago I was at Drago's. Again, top-notch service and food. As top-end as that restaurant is here and in New Orleans, their prices and services are still way better than Waterfront for what you get. That is one issue with local restaurants, they all see what the other is doing and mimic each other instead of sticking out of the crowd and being known for doing so. Now I know you must have been upset when you wrote your response and that's ok. With that being said, I invite you to reach out to these places to see if maybe you can help improve these areas of management, services, and overall quality. This place is a favorite in Monroe, LA among my work. I've been here before with oK experiences. This time was exceptional. This restaurant literally sits on the Bayou and overlooks whatever is like getting in the waterway. The interior environment feels very much like a sports bar. I had just about settled in ordering the Shrimp po boy when I asked the server for any alternative suggestions.....he said he recommended the Shrimp Rahkee. So, I ordered it.....and boy and I glad I did! The shrimp were nice and large nicely coated w/ a white sauce. The flavor was amazing with just the right "hint" of Cajun. In the side I ordered asparagus and a "stuffed" potato, which as it turns out is just a twice backed potato. The meal also included garlic bread which was made on soft bread. Stopped in for lunch and it was delicious. I had the crab cakes and a stuffed potato and both were great. The house vinaigrette was delicious. My husband had the gumbo and he said it was very good. We had our dogs so we needed a dog friendly place. This restaurant really met the mark. We sat on the back deck overlooking the river which was full of turtles. Our server was a nice young man (Gabriel?) He was very attentive to us and even brought the dogs a bowl of water without my requesting one. I was excited to see catfish on the menu so I ordered the chef salad topped with blackened catfish and honey mustard dressing. It came with all the toppings you would want on a salad plus two nice pieces of catfish. I knew I couldn't eat it all, one piece of fish came home with me. It was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the sirloin steak sandwich which comes with two sides, he opted for a baked potato and a side salad. His steak was cooked perfectly and it was several inches bigger than the bun, which in the end he didn't eat because he had so much food. We would definitely recommend this place for a nice lunch or dinner. Some reviews call it pricey but I believe we got good portions and quality food and service for our money. read more

Came here as part of a very large group. Visiting from Cincinnati for training. It took a long time to get our meals, but they kept the drinks flowing. Because we were part of a large group, the menu was limited and we had a choice of three entrees. I was disappointed that we got here late and close to dark because they have a really nice view on the water and I didn't get to enjoy it. I selected the Catfish Desiard because it was highly recommended along with the Shrimp Rahkee. The catfish entree came with options for sides, and I selected the baked sweet potato that came with butter and cinnamon. The entree also came with a side salad with croutons and cherry tomatoes. Waterfront Grill does not advertise this, but you must make reservations to get a table indoors. I called at 3PM on a Monday to confirm they were open for dine-in and the hostess confirmed they were. I said we'll see you in a couple hours and she said "OK. The first thing she asked us when we walked in the door was "Do you have reservations?" She got defensive when I asked her why she didn't tell us that reservations were required when I called less than two hours ago knowing we were coming in. She then offered us a table at the bar (with no view outside) and then a table outside by the river. The outside had a great view, but with temps and humidity in the 90s - plus the flies and mosquitoes - it wasn't a great experience. If you don't mind a rude and uniforming hostess, the food is worth a visit - the BBQ shrimp is fantastic - so overall one star for the hostess and five stars for the food. We sat outside for dinner. It was a wonderful night to sit outside. Working with a client this week we were told to try to barbecue shrimp. The dish came to the table swimming in grease. I asked if this was a normal look for this dish and was told it was butter and seasoning. This dish was not eaten by everyone at the table because it tasted like straight grease. My entree ordered was grilled pork chops which was very good. This restaurant is known for no fried food just grilled so I think I expected healthier foods. read more

Yes!!!!! The location is on the bayou which was an amazing experience for those of us that live in a land locked state and have never been to Louisiana! Red beans and rice! Best I have ever had! Salad and dressing were equally as amazing and the bread....absolutely amazing. I not sure what kind of bread it was that comes with the red beans but if it was available to purchase, I would have brought some back with me on the plane! I loved the outside deck seating and the fact that they provide turtle food so that you can feed the turtles in the bayou while you wait for your food. Amazing views of the local pelicans, turtles and water turkeys as they called them (ducks) fortunately I did not see any alligators however I know they were there somewhere! read more
