Yes!!!!! The location is on the bayou which was an amazing experience for those of us that live in a land locked state and have never been to Louisiana! Red beans and rice! Best I have ever had! Salad and dressing were equally as amazing and the bread....absolutely amazing. I not sure what kind of bread it was that comes with the red beans but if it was available to purchase, I would have brought some back with me on the plane! I loved the outside deck seating and the fact that they provide turtle food so that you can feed the turtles in the bayou while you wait for your food. Amazing views of the local pelicans, turtles and water turkeys as they called them (ducks) fortunately I did not see any alligators however I know they were there somewhere! read more

I've traveled all over Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado for work in the past, and traveled all over the country for road trip vacations growing up, but this was one state I haven't been! Let me tell you, so far, I love it! What a great recommendation from the front desk at the Courtyard Marriott, that was fully supported by yelpers! Got the BBQ shrimp and the stuffed potato... The best thing here is the steak and the view! The food is southern-steakhouse with a hint of Cajun influence. The steak is really phenomenal. And the atmosphere is relaxing with a great view of the river. The steak is what gives this place its rating, it may be more like a 4.5 star steak. It's well seasoned and the temperature spot on. You would never ruin this steak with any kind of sauce. It's seared crisp on the outside and just perfect. The crab cakes are the style that's breaded and deep fried. This style would usually be my second choice, but these were well seasoned, crisp and delicious. The gumbo is good. Gumbo has so many varieties and can be so phenomenal, so one ranks average but still enjoyable. I would order it if I was here, but if I was looking for gumbo specifically, I might look further south ;) The sides are ok. Nothing to write home about. Didn't try the catfish :) read more

Ate here for the first time last night for dinner. I sat at the bar & was greeted promptly & offered a menu and asked if I wanted a drink. Had the local beer on tap, Flying Tiger Blonde. I ordered the Catfish Desiard, which was highly recommended by Adron at the bar and it didnt disappoint. It was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Decent local place but not fancy, at all. If you don't like mushrooms--THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU. They put lots & lots of mushrooms in almost every dish on the menu EVEN if you clarify you want it without. The hosts and servers are sloppy-dressed for the menu prices. The fish was not fresh-caught as claimed. The SOUTHERN LIVING acclaimed dish was putrid & soggy and I couldn't even eat it. It was definitely microwaved! I gave them 3-STARS because this was the best crab cake I've ever had! Wonder if they were made elsewhere?! We spent $95 on a meal for two and left our plates 3/4 full. I always give restaurants the benefit of the doubt because I was a server for decades; but, I was just SAD. read more

My wife and I were in town for baseball games vs ULM and coach Mike recommended Waterfront Grill. It's close to the ballpark so we ran over there in a break between a doubleheader. The restaurant was busy but not in the weeds and the waiter helped us choose what we were going to eat. My wife ordered the BBQ shrimp because she loves spicy food. Me, being a total wuss ordered the shrimp Rakhee loaded potatoes and a salad. Holy moly the food was great. The rakhee is a great tasting creamy cheesy Alfredo Ish dish that I would order over and over again. Incredible. Get it. My spicy wife loved to bbq shrimp. I tried one and it had great flavor but about 3 tads too spicy for me. She licked the plate clean. Then of course we had to split a brownie smothered with ice cream. Greatness. Sooooo friendly helpful staff, epic food, and a spicy wife. What's not to love? Get there It's worth it. Oh and we met the owner Sam. Greatness. read more

I was here for business and this was the first suggest place to go to. I made sure to get their version of remoulade dressing for the salad. It was good! I still cant tell how to describe it, but remoulade is very popular dressing around here. The Blackened catfish desiard was the bomb. This is what I had and what was suggested to me. It is pretty much the #1 thing to try here. The catfish was super soft and it has shrimp and panko crumbs. So delicious. 5/5 My coworker had the BBQ Shrimp and it was a little meh. Not what we expected, but maybe its an acquired taste. 3/5 We had the bread pudding. I don't really care for it, but my coworker likes trying bread pudding at places. He thinks it was 3/5 for the pudding. I would definitely come back here just for the catfish desiard. read more

I highly recommend checking out Waterfront Grill and sitting outside by the bayou. They have an assortment of seafood options, casual food for the picky eaters, drinks and a great view of the bayou. When I inquired about difference I was told the price of catfish had gone up last week and they didn't have time to change the menus. Stuffed potato was a bit over done but the steamed vegetables were good. For Monroe I would give 4 stars but nationally it would be a 3 star. read more

Very Overpriced and nothing to write home about. 1st visit there. Wednesday night and it was slow, so we asked for a table by a window to face the water. We were told there was none available. We walked by 7 empty tables by the window getting to our table. Had to wipe off my chair to sit down. Made the mistake of ordering "market" priced meals. Mine was a Ribeye Sandwich. And by sandwich I mean they literally just put a ribeye on top of two halves of a basic store bought hamburger bun. Nothing else. Also, it was overcooked. Side was the smashed potato which was dry and overcooked as well. My wife had and 8oz Filet with asparagus. It came out looking like a lump of meat with some veggies that had seen some things. My wife said it tasted ok but there was literally nothing else. No sauce on the asparagus, no nothing. Her 8oz lump of meat was $43! Now we've thrown down some $ on food before, but have never walked away this disappointed. Save yourself and go somewhere else. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in Monroe. The view out the window is beautiful. The restaurant is located on Bayou Desiard, which runs through the campus of the University of Louisiana, Monroe. I've had many different meals here and have never been disappointed. The oysters Weemo, the filet, and the Shrimp Rakhee are my personal favorites. Traveling from Texas to North Carolina and found this gem online. Called ahead to confirm they had a dog friendly patio and they made sure the fans and air were on for us (we did NOT ask for this but very much appreciated it!). The view is BEYOND GORGEOUS! Drew was our server and he deserves a major thank you! He took great care of our dog and us. He made recommendations about food, brought our dog cold water to drink, and was a pleasure to converse with! The blandest most disappointing meal I've had in awhile! And expensive!!! Me and the girlfriend went and started with the pepper jack spinach and artichoke dip. It was basically a bowl of watery queso dip from a jar with some spinach floating in it served with a generous helping of stale tortilla chips. Things only got more disappoint when our entrees arrived. She ordered the ribeye sandwich which was basically an unseasoned, overcooked ribeye thoughtlessly slapped on a cold bun. I ordered the BBQ shrimp po boy. It came with some assembly required as it was plain shrimp on bread with the BBQ shrimp sauce on the side in a cup. I spent my meal trying to combine the two. First trying to pour it on which made a huge mess, then trying to dip and losing my shrimp. Not to mention the stuffed potato which had less flavor then most instant potato flakes! The only good thing is the view. Quite honestly a cheese sandwich on the banks would have been a better date than this over priced joke of a restaurant! read more
