The best thing here is the steak and the view! The food is southern-steakhouse with a hint of Cajun influence. The steak is really phenomenal. And the atmosphere is relaxing with a great view of the river. The steak is what gives this place its rating, it may be more like a 4.5 star steak. It's well seasoned and the temperature spot on. You would never ruin this steak with any kind of sauce. It's seared crisp on the outside and just perfect. The crab cakes are the style that's breaded and deep fried. This style would usually be my second choice, but these were well seasoned, crisp and delicious. The gumbo is good. Gumbo has so many varieties and can be so phenomenal, so one ranks average but still enjoyable. I would order it if I was here, but if I was looking for gumbo specifically, I might look further south ;) The sides are ok. Nothing to write home about. Didn't try the catfish :) read more

When I inquired about difference I was told the price of catfish had gone up last week and they didn't have time to change the menus. Ate here for the first time last night for dinner. I sat at the bar & was greeted promptly & offered a menu and asked if I wanted a drink. Had the local beer on tap, Flying Tiger Blonde. I ordered the Catfish Desiard, which was highly recommended by Adron at the bar and it didnt disappoint. It was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. They put lots & lots of mushrooms in almost every dish on the menu EVEN if you clarify you want it without. The hosts and servers are sloppy-dressed for the menu prices. The fish was not fresh-caught as claimed. The SOUTHERN LIVING acclaimed dish was putrid & soggy and I couldn't even eat it. It was definitely microwaved! I gave them 3-STARS because this was the best crab cake I've ever had! Wonder if they were made elsewhere?! We spent $95 on a meal for two and left our plates 3/4 full. I highly recommend checking out Waterfront Grill and sitting outside by the bayou. They have an assortment of seafood options, casual food for the picky eaters, drinks and a great view of the bayou. While I was there, we saw turtles in the water, cranes flying by and even people water skiing. The service is also fantastic! read more

Very Overpriced and nothing to write home about. 1st visit there. Wednesday night and it was slow, so we asked for a table by a window to face the water. We were told there was none available. We walked by 7 empty tables by the window getting to our table. Had to wipe off my chair to sit down. Made the mistake of ordering "market" priced meals. Mine was a Ribeye Sandwich. And by sandwich I mean they literally just put a ribeye on top of two halves of a basic store bought hamburger bun. Nothing else. Also, it was overcooked. Side was the smashed potato which was dry and overcooked as well. My wife had and 8oz Filet with asparagus. It came out looking like a lump of meat with some veggies that had seen some things. My wife said it tasted ok but there was literally nothing else. No sauce on the asparagus, no nothing. Her 8oz lump of meat was $43! Now we've thrown down some $ on food before, but have never walked away this disappointed. Save yourself and go somewhere else. read more

My wife and I were in town for baseball games vs ULM and coach Mike recommended Waterfront Grill. It's close to the ballpark so we ran over there in a break between a doubleheader. The restaurant was busy but not in the weeds and the waiter helped us choose what we were going to eat. My wife ordered the BBQ shrimp because she loves spicy food. Me, being a total wuss ordered the shrimp Rakhee loaded potatoes and a salad. Holy moly the food was great. The rakhee is a great tasting creamy cheesy Alfredo Ish dish that I would order over and over again. Incredible. Get it. My spicy wife loved to bbq shrimp. I tried one and it had great flavor but about 3 tads too spicy for me. She licked the plate clean. Then of course we had to split a brownie smothered with ice cream. Greatness. I was here for business and this was the first suggest place to go to. I made sure to get their version of remoulade dressing for the salad. It was good! I still cant tell how to describe it, but remoulade is very popular dressing around here. The Blackened catfish desiard was the bomb. This is what I had and what was suggested to me. It is pretty much the #1 thing to try here. The catfish was super soft and it has shrimp and panko crumbs. So delicious. 5/5 My coworker had the BBQ Shrimp and it was a little meh. Not what we expected, but maybe its an acquired taste. 3/5 We had the bread pudding. I don't really care for it, but my coworker likes trying bread pudding at places. He thinks it was 3/5 for the pudding. I would definitely come back here just for the catfish desiard. read more

I always get the shrimp rakhee and it is always delicious. Their food is pricey but you get what you pay for. Waitstaff is friendly and service is usually quick. Also has a nice view of the bayou. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in Monroe. The view out the window is beautiful. The restaurant is located on Bayou Desiard, which runs through the campus of the University of Louisiana, Monroe. I've had many different meals here and have never been disappointed. The oysters Weemo, the filet, and the Shrimp Rakhee are my personal favorites. I want to really love this place. The menu feels promising and the food was just ok today. I expected more. The crawfish cheese dip is rotel dip with a couple pieces of crawfish added. We wish it had been thicker but instead it ran off our chips and everywhere else. We then ordered a grilled shrimp po-boy with a side baked stuffed potato and a bowl of gumbo. Traveling from Texas to North Carolina and found this gem online. Called ahead to confirm they had a dog friendly patio and they made sure the fans and air were on for us (we did NOT ask for this but very much appreciated it!). The view is BEYOND GORGEOUS! Drew was our server and he deserves a major thank you! He took great care of our dog and us. He made recommendations about food, brought our dog cold water to drink, and was a pleasure to converse with! I ordered the oyster weemo and it was not what I expected it had alot of water in it and it was kind of soggy, I asked my waitress if I could send it back and she politely took it back wit no problems. Me and my mom continued to eat, about 10 minutes later a manager lady came to my table and asked what was wrong with the oysters and I let her know the same thing, she then said well that's what was on the Description and that it's a $20 dish we can't take that loss. Now I'm like what are you saying? She already took the dish but if it's a big deal I can pay for it and if you don't want to take losses learn how to cook better, she then mumbled under her voice about calling the police. That's when i got extremely offended because I can't to this day understand how a police officer could have any input on this situation. So I paid for the dish and I then asked for it back since I paid for it and they told me it had been thrown away. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant do not go here! My wife and I were in town for a conference and she wanted to come here. Awesome decision!! We wanted to sit outside, and though we were the only customers that wanted that, the staff was very gracious. They turned on the fans, got an umbrella for the table and were just great overall. It was hot and Im sure no server really wants to have one outside table to check on, especially when its hot, our guy was great! (I wish we had remembered his name) He checked on us often. BBQ shrimp appetizer was off the charts good! As were the crabcakes. The shrimp in a cream sauce with pasta was perfect. We ate ourselves to the breaking point. Getting to feed the turtles was pretty cool too. This restaurant location was a favorite of my wife, years ago when she was young and they did not disappoint.
