We dined here on a Friday night. There is an outside dining option, so we decided to try it out. We didn't have to wait very long for our food. We had a seafood platter and a shrimp platter. They provide nice size portions. There was a band there, but it still seemed to be "quiet" at the restaurant. I'm not sure if that's usual since this was our first time dining there. We were immediately greeted with a smile when we walked in. It only took a few min to be seated. It's got that hole in the wall feel that we love. The bartender was our server and he was very friendly and quick. The fried ravioli was delicious! Our drinks were made to perfection. Try their peach crown house specialty drink, it's yummy. Although I was not as impressed as I had been on other visits, it was still pretty good. My wife had a Shrimp Po-Boy with Homemade Chips. She said it seemed a little smaller than before, but tasty nonetheless. I had the lunch special, Jambalaya. It wasn't a huge portion, and there did not seem to be much chicken or sausage in it. We are on our way back to Dallas from Orange Beach and decided it would be a good place to eat after reviewing it on yelp. The food was definitely as good as the reviews! We were very hungry, and we had some family wanting a burger, some catfish, and some gumbo, so this place seemed to cover all options. We started with the fried pickles, fried crawfish tails, and crawfish white queso. The queso is served with homemade potato chips, which was a really good combo. It was all excellent! Everyone liked everything, which is surprising for my picky crowd. One of our main entrees included the fried catfish platter, with your choice of two sides. The catfish was lightly dusted and very crispy. It was probably some of the best catfish I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The burger was really good also. The fries are large, like steak fries. We didn't get a picture of the gumbo, but we all agreed it was awesome! We had some gumbo in AL and this definitely beat them out by far! We got there about 4:30pm, so there was not a crowd... and the service was fantastic! Well, MY food was okay until I saw the hair after I ate the last fried shrimp. I reported it and my plate was taken, I was not to be charged for my meal but I'd only eaten the fried shrimp. I'd have been okay with their replacing the food I didn't get to eat. The ahi tuna was great (my bestie offered me some of her food since i no longer had any). There's something about this place that I really love. Maybe when walking in I noticed there was I believe a buy one get one happy hour. It was irrelevant because I couldn't exactly drink around my family since half of them quit drinking. But this place is huge, near the water, and there was live music going on. My dad wanted to get fried pickles and fried crawfish tails for an app. I couldn't stand yet again how much salt was in the fried pickles so that was a loss for me but the crawfish tails were pretty good. They have items on the menu that were taunting me like: gigantic baked potatoes called 'spuds' that are stuffed with crawfish etouffee, cheeseburger, boudin, etc. Catfish, seafood platters, burgers, gumbo, jambalaya. But I couldn't get over that no one wanted to split the seafood nachos and my heart was set on that. Dead set after I saw the pictures on yelp. It's more or less a mountain of fresh potato chips, peeled off the potatoes I swear somewhere on the property. Smothered with onion, tomato, jalapenos, fried crawfish, grilled shrimp, and covered with what they exclaim as the best white queso dip on this side of the Mississippi. You had me at 'the best' and 'queso'. Unfortunately they don't seem to have a halfsies option of these nachos and it seriously was a mountain. The queso was undeniably amazing. The crawfish and shrimp were just an excellent accompaniment. The only thing weird to me is potato chips as nachos but I'm willing to make an exception with these being thick cut. My sister's burger looked pretty good. My dad split a seafood platter and my brother got yet another shrimp po boy, which seemed to be his go to 95% of the trip. Out of the dive spots I checked out though this was probably my favorite. I'd come back and get a beer, split the nachos and try something else. read more

Met out of town friends for an early dinner. They wanted some authentic Louisiana food, so Trapp's was our choice. Crawfish tails and fried pickles for a starter-tails were pretty small and dry: hard year for crawfish industry! They had a ribeye special-steaks were cooked perfectly! Salads were fresh and delicious, smothered catfish, steak fries, asparagus, and real mashed potatoes were all well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The kids were happy with chicken strips and fries. Service was fast and friendly! It's a casual atmosphere, very family friendly with inside seating and outside seating with river views. It's pretty warm inside. We ended up with a pretty cranky baby, but our waitress brought a little fan to help her cool off and settle down-pretty thoughtful!! We'll be back! read more

The atmosphere was just ok. A construction company was paving the street in front of the restaurant with no signs or fences up. Trapp's is a solid Louisiana restaurant on the Ouachita river. I wouldn't call it my favorite Cajun restaurant, but I won't turn it down. I usually get either the blackened shrimp or blackened catfish. Both are usually very good. Their mashed potatoes are really good, as is their sweet tea. Jasey was our server and although she was in training she was super knowledgeable about the menu. We went on a Tuesday without knowing they have a steak dinner for two special so there was a little bit of a wait. The restaurant is located on the river so we opted to sit on the back deck, also we had our dogs. We were quickly served our drinks and after some questions about the menu we ordered. I tried the spinach salad with cranberries and a raspberry vinaigrette and my husband tried the creole salad with a blend of lettuces, tomatoes, carrots, cheese and hard boiled egg. It had a dusting of creole seasoning and he topped it with honey mustard. We both enjoyed our salads. My husband also had a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo which he really liked. I wasn't as hungry but since Jasey had great things to say about the crawfish Etoufee I had a cup to go, incidentally I enjoyed it for breakfast. The building is older and could use some tlc, but it was clean. I would recommend giving them a try, maybe not Tuesday night unless you want the steak special. read more

Candace Fortier I went there on a family vacation. It was rated highly in several places. When we got there the line was not that long but we waited 15-20 minutes until someone came to seat us. I asked to sit outside but was told that a large party was coming and had reserved it and I would not be able to. We were seated at the window where we could see the deck but that was about it. We did go walk by the water outside of the restaurant after we left and the view is nowhere near as nice as the pictures. We waited another 45 minutes for our waiter to take drink orders and I told him we knew what we wanted and ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals. After another long wait, we got our drinks and our meal. We never did get our appetizer. During all this time there were 2 tables that I could see on the deck that were empty the whole time and we watched people leave several other tables on the deck and other people be seated out there. Some of those tables were given their food before we got ours. I did call the waiter over several times about the appetizer, our drinks, etc. but that didn't speed up the process. We spent 2 hours total time here. It may have been okay if we were on the deck but where we were sitting was horrible, the food was not all that good, and the wait staff and host were unaccommodating, almost rude. We took most of the food in go boxes. I would not recommend this restaurant and won't be returning. read more

This is a great restaurant located next to the river, that's serving up great food. After looking at the number of cars in the large parking lot across the street I was somewhat skeptical that we were going to be able to find a seat, but our timing was perfect and we were able to be seated just after 12:00 PM with no wait. The service was just okay during this lunch service but they were working hard they just seemed to be a little overwhelmed but it wasn't horrible. On the other hand the food here is amazing and arrived at our table in a timely manner. Fried Crawfish App - a mound of perfectly fried crawfish tails with a nice spicy seasoning served with a side of remoulade sauce. Chicken and Sausage Gumbo - this is great Gumbo which was a little surprising to me being this is northeastern Louisiana but apparently the chefs not from the area. The roux was a little lighter than I'm used to but the texture was perfect. The chicken was fall apart tender and the sausage was absolutely delicious. This gumbo was not spicy but it was seasoned well and had tons of flavor, of course adding a few dashes of hot sauce elevated it from good to great. Cheese Burger & Fries - beautifully crafted burger, in my opinion it all starts with the meat and this burger was delicious and cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. The artisan bun was just as insane and the shredded lettuce, ripe tomato slice, and sweet red onion took this burger to the next level. I also enjoyed the fries but only a few since there was so much food in front of me. This is one restaurant in West Monroe that you must try and a place I'll definitely return to given the opportunity. read more
