I am new to the area, so I checked Yelp reviews before choosing a place. As I am on a budget and Tram's Salon had decent enough reviews, I knew what to expect. I was happy enough when I left the salon but the next morning when I dried and straightened my hair, I noticed that - like another reviewer - the left side of my hair was significantly longer than the right. No big deal, it was just a few layers. I have a little experience with hair, so I fixed it myself. I did not love the cut but the ladies at Tram's are extremely sweet and the little salon has a nice atmosphere. Also, if you buy 9 haircuts, the 10th is free. The place was empty and just smelled like they had food laying around. They had no music playing. There were 6 staff just kicking their feet up on the furniture and eating and talking. So much talking I couldn't even relax. My nail "specialist" kept stopping and just listing to their convocations. I'm pretty sure she was using dirty nail tools. She was also very aggressive. I couldn't help but jolt like 5 times. I asked for square. She did round. Polish came out bumpy. I could of did a better job myself. Never coming here again. read more

Great experience! Called for a same-day appointment for my son...done, easy. Walked into shop and was greeted by David, who sat Fin in a chair almost immediately. We explained what style Fin was hoping for and I showed David a photo and could tell he 'got it' right away. Walked out 15-20 mins later with a happy kid and not feeling like I spent a fortune! I haven't seen other reviews here for kids' hair cuts, so thought I'd add mine. I've take my son for cuts here for many years. He has very thick wavy to curly hair, cowlicks in weird places, and a high prominent forehead. Few hair stylists can give him a good-looking cut. Tram always does a great job, balancing a short, but not too short, haircut that is flattering. Cuts for kids under 12 years old are cheaper, but even now that my son is a teen, the price is extremely good for the quality cut that he gets. read more

I've gotten my hair cut twice at Tram's salon. The first time it was by someone other than Tram. I got a decent haircut, but didn't necessarily feel like I was in good hands. The second time, I decided to go with Tram because of earlier reviews. Tram is a true professional--she seriously listened to everything I had to say before cutting my hair, and made sure I was okay with the amount of hair she was going to cut before she did it. She gave me her honest opinion about what would look good with my face shape and even how the layers I was requesting would flow with my hair. Tram's advice, coupled with the low prices for haircuts ($14 for women!), make this place a winning combo for me. Also, my hair grew out very elegantly and I've actually gone a while without a haircut because it still looks good! When I go back (and I definitely will), I'll be sure to stick with Tram as my stylist. read more

We decided to try Tram's, since we had experienced her service at Budget Cuts. We still go there once in a while, but the new manager (if she is still there) drives us bonkers. SO, last night it's 6:30pm, I can't take my hair for another minute. We are driving across the bridge home. I call Tram's, yes they are open...come on in. That was fantastic. I walk in, am seated immediately and the haircut begins. As soon as Tram was free, she started on our little one's hair. She had changed the station to Power Rangers to entertain him during his wait. That was thoughtful and much appreciated. They close at 7pm, but despite that Tram offered to have my hair flat ironed, which I was going to skip because it was so late....but REALLY wanted to have it done. The finished product was great....In 45 minutes i went from sitting in my car feeling horrible about my hair to having a great sleek cut! My hair, the wee one's hair, shampoo & conditioner and tip for under $70. That was awesome too. read more

Tram and her staff were super welcoming & cheerful! From the snacks to the smiles, I felt like they truly wanted their customer's experience to be positive. They really connect with each person & show that they care about your satisfaction. I love love love the highlights Amy gave me! It's become so tough to find a salon that can actually figure out a formula for my hair - well she figured out the trick & I'm definitely coming back. They also encouraged me to get my nails done at the same time which made me feel super productive! This review is for the newer nail salon they opened at Trams. I was pleasantly surprised with my gel mani/pedi! The nail salon is right next to the hair parlor and is clean and has air conditioning and heat....which several West Seattle salons are lacking. Major bonus points for the massage- they used hot stones during the pedi massage and ended it with a warm towel that smelled great. My manicurist topped off my gel mani with a relaxing kneck and shoulder massage. Loved it here! Plus they have a really great selection of gel colors to choose from. read more

I did a perm and it was good. The staffs were so friendly. The price was so expensive. The perm was $117, which was reasonable. Then, I got a 1.5 mins trimming of my hair and that costed me $20. I don't know that I can burn money so fast within 1.5 minutes. I feel like crying, but I really like the staffs here. read more

So pleased with my first experience at Tram's. It had been forever since I'd gotten my hair cut because 1, I'm lazy, and 2, the last cut I got (elsewhere) was crooked and I wanted to grow my hair out, but it was so damaged, I was a little embarrassed to go in. I walked in on a weekday afternoon and had no wait. Got a wash and cut, and I am so pleased with it! Love Tram's salon. I always get a nice shape-up/trim for my long, layered hair at an affordable price. I can always get a prompt appointment; actually, each time I have been able to walk-in and get service rather than booking weeks in advance like other salons. I can tell they have a ton of regulars which speaks to their great service. Tram did a beautiful balayage treatment on my hair. It was affordable and Tram went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable during the treatment. The color was flattering and just what I wanted. She styled it really nicely for me. The salon had a very friendly and warm atmosphere and Tram's cute dog Leo provided great entertainment. Overall, I love this business and recommend it to others. read more

I just went into Trams salon to get CLEANED UP for my SENIOR pictures and I told the lady to only cut a TINY TINY bit off because I had senior pictures. She ending up cutting at LEAST 2 full inches off my bangs and now I have to reschedule my senior pictures because it looks so fucking awful holy shit i will never go back to this salon ever again and I advise you all to do the same read more

The ladies talk about their customers in Vietnamese (bad tippers/good), which is rude considering most of their customers are not Asian and wouldn't understand. A lady named Julie took an hour to cut my hair and kept saying in Vietnamese (surprise: I understand Vietnamese) that I had too much hair and she ended up chopping more layers off then discussed to make it presentable in her eyes. Decent haircut, but not the blunt cut I asked for and showed her pictures. She used a round brush to comb my hair during the hair drying, so it left my hair curled inward. I realized it was not a blunt cut after I went home and washed my hair. She also cut two inches off for layers, when we originally discussed half an inch. Here's the annoying part. When I had called in, a guy told me a women's haircut was $19.95 so I gave the place a try. At the end when I was paying, Julie decided to charge me $29.95 for "styling" which was just hair drying. How does hair drying equal 50% more of the listed price? Julie's intent was just to rip me off over an unspoken "styling" fee. Needless to say, there are better places for the same price I paid. Be more respectable and not talk about your customers in your native language while they're in you're seat. Customers keep your business alive and pay your bills. read more

Tried this salon for the first time today. Vicky was very friendly and did a great job with my cut. Price was very reasonable and there was no wait as I went in mid-afternoon. Tram has been cutting my hair for many years...all the way back to when she was at Supercuts. I have followed her to her subsequent locations and was thrilled when she opened her own place. I have changed styles many times, and Tram has always known what would make my hair look it's best. I would recommend her to anyone...and I have- many of my friends, my sister, my nieces; all go to Trams Salon to have their haircut. She has a great staff working for her. Mary gives an amazing scalp massage when shampooing my hair. Another of her stylists gave my 14 year old niece a "cool" new style for starting high school. All of these qualities would usually cost a fortune. The fact that Tram's prices are so reasonable is the icing on the cake. My hairstyle is very detailed, and Tram is the ultimate perfectionist. That it costs less than $15 for a haircut is amazing. Word of advice: call ahead if you want an appointment with Tram; she is very popular. But....if you can't wait, any of her other stylists are sure to give you a fantastic cut as well. read more

Went to get my haircut here and was treated horribly. The woman who cut my hair took the least amount of time possible and when I asked her to smooth out the fade she scoffed at me and quickly tried to fix it. It seemed like she was trying to break the record for the fastest haircut ever, her lack of customer service is concerning. I will never be going back here and advise you not to either. read more

I've been to Tram's about seven or eight times and had the same stylist each time. I've liked most of the haircuts I've gotten. However, the last two times I've been there, my stylist is on the phone the whole time she's with me-from when she calls me to her chair to when she rings me up at the end. I find this not only really annoying and disrespectful, but also an impediment to getting a haircut I love versus a haircut I just like. Get off the phone and I'll give you a five star review! read more

I have been going to Tram's for a few years. Tina has done my hair all these times. Initially, I didn't know what style fits​ me best but she recommended me what would look good on me. She always cuts my hair exactly the way I want. The people there are very friendly (I love Tram's dog). I want to start out by saying I'm used to going to a salon downtown that charges $65 for women's cut. That being said, I was definitely apprehensive about a less expensive salon. Boy was I wrong! The girls at the salon are so sweet and attentive, they give amazing scalp massages, and my hair always turns out how I want it. I highly recommend this place. The first time I got a haircut and color by this place, I loved it and loved the price. The second time I had an appointment with the same woman for a haircut. I called ahead to say I would be a little late and actually got there about 10 minutes past my appointment time. She was cutting someone else's hair and I thought "fine, I was late, it's okay that she slid a guy in for a quick buzz." When she was done with him though, she takes another walk-in guy for a haircut - what the??? When it was finally my turn, she seems to be in a rush and starts hacking away with thinning shears. Needless to say, I hated the haircut and it seemed like there were "dog ears" hanging in the front and it was some sort of rock star shag. Went back two days later for my Saturday morning color appointment with that same girl. I get there before 10:00 appointment and she comes strolling in the back door shortly after. She makes zero eye contact, even though I saw her only two days prior, and she proceeds to start cutting some other person's hair. Tram assures me that she herself will do my color. Time is ticking. I give her the look 30 minutes later, and she says she will mix the color and "X" will apply it. Finally get through the whole process with "X" and I don't even think I ever figured out what her name was. I guess you get what you pay for - appointments don't mean anything at this place. They just try to get as many people in and out of there as quick as they can. Never again. read more

Well.... I need to take back my first review.. my second go round at this salon and my hair was completely messed up! No layers in my hair and yet she managed to cut my hair uneven! My left side was longer MUCH longer than my right side... I thought my first time was great for 9.99 but that is what you are getting when you go ... a hair cut for 9.99, so I guess I shouldn't have expected it to be perfect.. read more

This place is a hit or miss. I used to go here regularly because the haircuts were of good quality and affordable. This time however I must have done something to really piss these ladies off because they let 4 people go ahead of me without appointments, had me waiting for over an hour for a 5 minute haircut that looks hideous after being very specific in what I wanted. after reading the good reviews I decided to give Tram's a try... I can not believe how many compliments I got on my hair today! I walked in for a cut and color and they got me in right away. my hair is not the easiest to cut or style as it is thick and frizzy and I am attached to my flat iron. most stylists try to talk me into doing my hair curly even after I tell them I hate my hair curly... at Trams it wasn't even discussed! thank you! Tram is such a great stylist! I have recommended her to several of my friends. She is very attentive to her clients' wishes and never disappoints. If you say just a trim, she'll give you just a trim. She knows everything about color, what is flattering and what chemistry will work for any type of hair. Not sure what Tram's Salon some of these reviews are talking about but this Tram's is top notch. I go there religiously for mani/pedis and haircuts. The staff at both salons is extremely friendly and accommodating. If I am pressed for time I call ahead for nails (usually only 15 minutes) and confirm they have time for me but even when I don't, the wait is never more than 10 minutes or so with so many technicians and stations. I never go at closing time. These techs work long hours and we would be rude expecting that they should stay past closing because we arrived late. In over 2 years I have never observed any staff members being rude, only accommodating! I used to sit in traffic 50 minutes each way to pay $95 for a haircut. Now I drive 5 minutes and don't pay nearly that for a great haircut and get complements from total strangers. With 80+% travel, my time is worth a lot to me. The first haircut I had here was fine. Prices are great. The second time, I asked for layers and to have about 1-2 inches total cut off. Halfway through the haircut, I started getting nervous because she wouldn't stop clipping. I politely told her I thought that was good, but she continued to cut. Overall I probably had 5 inches off and it's taken me a few months to get it to where I wanted to be. It's upsetting when customers aren't listened to, regardless of what the stylist believes to look good :( read more
