This was my first time visiting the Train Wreck Bar and I was not disappointed. It's smaller than most bars I've been to but it's still a nice spot to go with friends and have a few beers. To start, our server was hilarious! Anytime we asked for a refill he would respond with " Absolutely not". He was clearly joking around which I love when waiters can be themselves. The food was delicious. I got Korean Pork Tacos and they were really good. It's supposed to come topped with coleslaw and onions but I'm not the biggest fan of coleslaw so I asked for it on the side. The only thing I'll "dock a point" if you will; the pork was shredded instead of in little chunks like traditional Korean pork is supposed to be. I wouldn't say it's authentic but still very tasty and would recommend it either way if you don't care about authenticity. To drink, I got the Dole Whip and it was so refreshing, definitely would be a good summer cocktail. If you don't like tasting the alcohol, this is definitely the drink to try. 10/10 will be coming here again! read more

Train Wreck was one of a handful of places that were actually open. We were looking to hang out with some friends and weren't disappointed. It's a bar and restaurant with cool ambiance. We sat on the semi-open patio on a nice day. The drinks and food were spot on. We mostly ordered fried seafoods. Everything we ordered was fresh and well prepared. The restaurant relies on its lack of maintenance and dilapidated building condition for physical charm and character. We went for a late lunch on a weekday. It was not too crowded but they were busy. Wesley was our waiter. He was nice and welcoming. We ordered beer and calamari to start followed by an Elk burger and a smoked brisket sandwich. The calamari was lightly fried but the portion was small for the price. My husband enjoyed his elk burger but the fries were limp and soaked with oil. My thinly cut brisket meat looked more like leftover pieces from earlier lunch service. It tasted super dry even with the excessive amount of bbq sauce. I had sweet potato fries with my sandwich. They were even soggier and oiler than my Husband's sad fries. Wesley did check on us once asking if we needed refills on beer. Overall the vibe was casual, food was okay, not bad but not great. The bill was over $70 excluding tip, way overpriced for the bar food that was just okay. I don't know if anyone else is sick of the food scene in western Washington being subpar. Bloody Mary in the mason jar is the bomb. I have only been here for breakfast and it is very good and large portions so you can share if your a small eater. The inside of the bar is so cool. Dear Train Wreck, You're anything but! What a cool place to grab some food on our way up from Seattle for a roadside viewing of the infamous tulips. The food was ENORMOUS, leaving us with no choice but to finish or try to cart carnaged remains off the the car to continue munching on later (let's be honest, no one likes cold fries). The accommodations were met (one in our party of 3 didn't like cheese so they were able to put his elk burger on bread they typically use for breakfast) and my spice tolerance is one that could qualify for an addiction (give me MORE) and the ability to add sauces on the side for everyone to taste and pick their faves was the icing on the cake (queue a sweet dipping sauce for their sweet potato fries). There we met Heidi, who excelled not only at guiding us through the menu, but also expertly installing smiles back on our faces. But wait, there's more! OMG, that breakfast burrito! The photo doesn't do it justice - it could easily feed a family of four! Michelle's brisket hash was perfectly cooked as well, but the very best part was that we made a new friend. The restaurant/bar is 21 and over only due to it being, well, a bar! But the food far exceeds what you would typically expect from a bar. Talk about a great restaurant/bar! Highly recommend Train Wreck Bar if you're in the Burlington, WA area! We came on a busy Sunday afternoon, so we expected a little wait (approx. 25 min); but well worth it. We started with a few apps, the Oyster Shooters & Fried Cheese Curds. To be honest, the oyster shooters still had some frozen cocktail sauce sitting at the top of each shooter. I let them thaw for a little and they ended up being ok. The Fried Cheese Curds were awesome! Served with marinara sauce that was very good, not to acidic. I enjoyed the Korean Pork Tacos which were perfectly cooked. The Asian Slaw and Korean Aioli added that perfect crunch and spicy to the tacos. They estimated out food would take approx. 45 min for our food but it came much faster; around 25 - 30 min. Located in a funky, old brick building right next to the railroad tracks, with plenty of street parking (in addition to the gravel lot behind the bar), they make everything in-house, and do it all well. Food, drinks, and service are all top-notch. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu, but some personal faves in our house include the Chicken BLTA (recommend adding Jack cheese and their chipotle aioli), the Nameless Pig, the Pastrami, their fish & chips, the Quesabirria Torta (roll up your sleeves, get extra napkins, and dive in), the Philly Cheesesteak, the tomato soup & (ooey, gooey, delicious) grilled cheese, and the Skagit Mushroom Burger (mmmm, Gouda). Even the fries (potato or sweet potato) are house made, as is the bread, the ketchup, ranch, and aioli. Portion sizes are very generous; light eaters will want to share, or box up the leftovers to enjoy later. You won't leave hungry.
