Historically, I'm not one to seek out French-inspired dining. I have a hard time getting excited about paying a lot of money for a tiny portion of food artistically placed in the middle of a very large plate. But hey, when in Sun Valley... And I have to give credit where credit is due -- we had a great dinner. We had the lamb and the Hungarian goulash, and both were very good. But surprisingly, one of the stars of the night was the Caesar salad. It was exceptional -- possibly the best Caesar I've had, or at least the best in a very long time. We split it, by the way, which is why the portion in the photo looks so small. For once, the tiny portion wasn't the restaurant's fault. Then came the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was ridiculously good. So good, in fact, that my wife -- who specifically announced that she "wasn't hungry for dessert" -- proceeded to eat practically the entire thing while I sat there starving, watching my dessert disappear one bite at a time. Marriage is about sacrifice, apparently. Evan was our waiter and was awesome -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The entire Sun Valley resort is beautiful. Between the architecture, mountains and village atmosphere, you could almost forget you're in Idaho and think you've somehow wandered into Deutschland. Overall, a great first experience at The Ram and definitely something you should try at least once. Next time, though, we may skip everything else and just order Caesar salad and TWO Sticky Toffee Puddings!

We are visiting town to support an event for the culinary world and wanted to try some local establishments. I took my wife and the food was wonderful. We had the yellow tail and two pasta dishes. The yellowtail was perfect but I did feel as if the past was a little "too on the "al dente" side. The being said, I did thoroughly enjoy the food. However; from the moment we walked in the door, we were treated as a nuisance and felt unimportant/unwanted. The hostess was atrocious and made it very clear we were being judged while rolling her eyes to common questions like "do we need a reservation or can we be placed on the list or seated." After she did common tasks during our conversation (and briefly stepping away), we were able to get her to seat us (after asking again). This started us off with hesitation which was only further exacerbated by the staff taking our order and not refilling our alcoholic drinks. We love to enjoy experiences and are not afraid to spend our hard earned money - sadly, this made our time here short lived. We were not informed if there was a dress code that established our treatment/experience here. I don't know if it's the Idaho potato but those fries were amazing! They were crispy on the outside but soft and tasted very fresh on the inside. The restaurant staff were very nice and gave me a complimentary lemonade-like drink. It was very interesting. It was topped with a layer of egg white and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It almost tasted like a non-alcoholic pisco sour. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes next time we are in the area.
