Getting to this review late - we went last February. Went in a group of 4. We were able to get reservations no issue. Seated promptly at a nice table. We all ordered different items, and it was great to have more than one vegetarian option. Prices also seemed super reasonable for an upscale place in Ketchum - on part with a really nice restaurant where I live. Wine list was good too and we enjoyed picking something out. Wait staff was friendly. The only real downer on the evening was that we tried to order a dessert wine but they spent so long looking for it that we had nearly finished our desserts by the time our server came back to tell us it was out of stock. So we just got the bill. I would definitely come back here when in town though! read more

OMG, what a great experience, First, they whole heartily greeted us as sat us down right away for a 6:30 reservation. The waiter was a very nice gentleman and was very familiar with the food and wine menu. We had the Antinori Tignanello (Super Tuscan) that was reasonably price. We had a wonderful time at Rominna's on Christmas Eve; it is a very cozy environment and we had a fantastic server who was very attentive even though the restaurant was packed for holiday. The server wouldn't take our appetizer order...said they were too busy to not take the entire order all at once. Who says that? We looked around and about 50% of the tables were empty. Doesn't matter, who doesn't allow for taking an appetizer order first? Food. Two of the four meals were good. Order two caesar salads, split. $44 for both (charged $6 to split) Each plate had 4-5 small to medium sized leaves with unremarkable caesar dressing. Their online menu is not kept up to date. The chicken entree wasn't what was described...very much more an Alfredo. Bland. Spaghetti Bolognese loaded with peas...unusual soffritto for bolognese. Bland. We enjoyed our time at Romina with our server Laura. The service was an absolute 5 stars. We were seated in the garden which is amazing. The overall vibe was like summer breeze. As for the food I liked it but felt it lacked that next level to be super delirious. The Burrata and the salad were good not great. Update to note that relative to new Italian restaurants in town, the prices are now "reasonable". Rominna's would now be my first choice for Italian restaurant in Ketchum. There is a range of authentic Italian plates and the service is good. Ambiance is a little crowded and loud, but similar to most restaurants in Ketchum. read more

Amazing!! Food, service and ambiance were all great! Best calamari appetizer I've had; light crispy 'batter' and so tender; perfect aioli pairing. Crab cake was to die for; delicious, and the broth was so tasty. And the roasted pear salad was great. Overall an outstanding experience! read more

We tried Rominna's based on the recommendation of a Ketchum local. His recommendation was spot on. The food was spectacular, our serve was wonderful and the atmosphere was cozy and romantic. I had the Chicken Fettuccine and the hubby enjoyed the Diablo. i would give this place a ten if that was possible. read more

Older looking restaurant with a bit of old decor. Seated quickly for a Friday night. Only 3 other tables at 6:45. Waitstaff a bit slow but once we were seated, fairly attentive. I had the Chicken with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms. Pasta was undercooked for my tastes. Did not care for the flavor. Started with a salad which was average. Husband had the Penne with sausage, he liked it . He started with Calamari which he enjoyed. I did not see what the hype was for this place. Love the restaurant, the food, the staff, and the hospitality. The excessive fees and automatic tipping on top of a taxed bill are taking advantage of us. We're from San Francisco and used to ridiculous restaurant pricing policies. Never had a $50 corkage fee per bottle... and multiplied by 3 bottles that's $150 is abusive. On top of that the automatic tip for a group of 20% which is a reasonable policy was on top of the tax and the corkage which is not. We brought this up to our waitress and management on hand to be told this is the chef's policy is evasive and a disservice. Don't ruin a good restaurant by these tactics which cost us $300. Awesome little restaurant. Superior service and food. This was our last night in Sun Valley and first night we could get reservations. Boy, was it worth the wait. Our party of four was seated promptly at 5:30 when the restaurant open. We were told of the night specials and available options for beer and wine. Note: they do not have liquor. We started with the Blue Crab Cake appetizer. It was an amazing experience on the pallet with all the flavors it offered. From there we moved on to order the Penne with House made sausage, the Seafood Risotto and the Mahi Mahi. Each dish was wonderfully prepared, aesthetically pleasing on the eye, and equally as pleasing on the palette. I highly recommend each entree. Once dinner was over we were presented with a dessert menu. We shared the Panna Cotta and Flourless Chocolate Tart. Amazing, amazing desserts. I can see why this restaurant is one of the top in Sun Valley. Run, don't walk, to try this family owned restaurant (the chef is the owner and the restaurant is named for his daughter). read more

We got there at 7:30pm and we waited over an hour for our food. There were people that sat down after us and got there food before us. When we did get our food it was dry and very tasteless. The manager never talked to us, but we talked to him. We said our whole meal is comped. He suggested to us "please do me a favor and don't ever come back." Hmmm I don't think we want to come back, and you can be sure in a small town the info will be spread. That is not at all how we should have been treated. read more

We had a great experience at Romina's for dinner on Jan 27th. Important factor: we had 35 people. And we were scheduled to have dinner at another venue that had to cancel. A friend recommended Romina's, and they were able to accommodate us in 24 hours notice (!). They were able to pull together a private dining atmosphere on short notice and served up great food off of a price-fixe menu. With that many people, the staff hustled very hard, and the service was excellent. Great wines too. We went yesterday for dinner my ravioli was good. My husband's pork tenderloin was dry. I had read a review that said they charged a $50 corking charge but since we weren't getting a bottle of wine I wasn't concerned. But it became very obvious when we got our bill why the restaurant was almost empty. My husband got a salad and I was going to have a couple bites so I asked for an extra plate.. They split it for us which is not what we asked for but OK. $6 charge for that. And then they charged a $9 liquor tax for two glasses of wine that is BS the liquor tax in Idaho is.45 cents for a gallon of wine. We'll never go back! Other reviews state bogus charges. read more

We ate here for the last supper of our visit to Ketchum and Sun Valley. Our first meal was at Ketchum Grill, which actually has slightly better crowd-sourced reviews on various platforms and frankly, wasn't anything special. In between, we tried several others, from low to high price points. All I can say is that this was a delicious dinner, hosted by smiling and hospitable professionals, who knew just about every nuance of the recipes and wine list. Compared to other, more highly regarded and (in some cases) measurably more expensive options, I don't think there's better fine dining bang for your buck than Rominna's. We had poached pear salad, calamari, steak, chicken pasta, spicy shrimp pasta and the pork chop. Everything was well seasoned, exactly as described, and the flavors were well layered and executed beautifully. The wine list is off the chain AND... reasonably priced. Being from CA, I'm used to retail mark-ups of 2, 2.5 and 3x retail, but our (delicious) Three Sticks Pinot Noir was sold at retail price. We are blessed to be able to dine this way, but not wealthy enough to not be price-sensitive. In a town like Ketchum, value is both relative and fleeting, so I give them an extra half-star for plating food this good at these prices. read more

I am told that I dined at Rommina's when it was opened a couple of years ago, but I have no recollection of that meal. Obviously it was not a memorable experience since I have avoided the restaurant ever since. But friends have recently had very nice things to say about the place so we gave it a try. Extremely glad we did. First of all, the setting on their patio makes for delightful al fresco dining. It is shaded from the sun, so no fighting glare during the evening meal. Our table was away from the street making for a lovely quiet setting for pleasant conversations. Five of us dined and all of us came away favorably impressed. The biggest hit of the evening was an appetizer special, burrata with figs dotted interestingly and flavorfully with beads of balsamic vinegar. The sea bass fish of the day was nicely prepared. The Diablo Shrimp was very tasty featuring a chili oil requiring extensive time and effort. And their cold-smoked pork chops were remarkably tasty. There is a nice wine list with many fine to luxury choices. But their handling of wines is not commensurate with the quality of their cellar. Specifically it is their cavaliere attitude regarding vintages, posting one vintage year on the wine list but pouring a different year's bottling at the table without advising their diners. l have to think the Sun Valley dining clientele include many knowledgeable wine connoseiurs. This is not the community to engage in such a disrespectful practice. read more

I was in search of fine dining and came across this little gem last night. From the moment I walked through the door I was invited to sit at the bar with the owner and chef Pierre who offered me a sample of the finest wine. Unfortunately they didn't serve it in a glass so I ordered a nice tuscan red wine that the bartender recommended that was quite good. For dinner I ordered the pear salad, penne pasta, and blackberry sorbet for dessert all of which was simply amazing. When I finish my meal I enjoyed my time with good conversation with the locals only to find myself toasting champagne to Pierre's late brother's birthday. After so much alcohol and toasting...I had to wish everyone farewell. Overall my experience was one I'll never forget and a place I'll return. read more

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to--and being a visitor from Los Angeles where there are many Italian eateries, that says a lot. The items that particularly stand out are: 1) The Quail. This instantly became my favorite poultry dish ever. It was so good I visited Rommina's again before leaving town just to have it. 2) Rominna's integrates fruits into a number of their dishes in a very outstanding way. The flavors of the fruit components compliment and balance the non-fruit ingredients so well it's seamless. Oftentimes, restaurants just put sugar into their dishes to get the effect, but the way that Rominna's achieves this with the natural flavors of the fruits was really memorable. 3) The cheesecake with drunken berries was to die for. Not like the cheesecakes from the Cheesecake Factory - it's really hearty, flavorful, and yet understated -- another dish where the natural fruits really pop the flavor and the luxurious cheesecake itself leaves you wanting more. 4) The hospitality of Fransisco and Pierre was phenomenal. They're so kind and generous. They instantly made me feel like a familiar face and "local" within the first 5 minutes of my first visit. Their service really puts Rommina's over the moon -- great food, great ambiance, great service, great people. All in all, this meal and dining experience was PERFECT. After dining at several highly recommended Ketchum sit down restaurants, Rommina's was by far my favorite. It's not just the best Italian food I've had in Ketchum, but the best Italian food I've had ever. read more

I liked the Diablo pasta but thought it could have used just a bit more flavor. Our waitress was very kind and didn't rush us at all as we took our time to enjoy the meal on our anniversary.
