It was alright. My ceviche was bugger than most places lately. They told me the fish was red snapper so that was a slight pleasant surprise. My daughter got a kids pasta which was just some small ate of spaghetti. But overall it was good food. Service on the other hand wasn't that it was bad but I felt the server acted as if we were being a nuisance. I wousl talk spa jsh and she'd answer in soanish but always come back in English. We got like 1 min to look at menu before she was ready to take order. Asked for 2 more minutes and seemed irked at my request. The one of our cups was dirty as well. Stopped at Jhony's on our drive to Ketchum and so glad we did! I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was fantastic -- the beef was tender and the savory brown sauce was especially tasty, packed with flavor. My wife ordered the Pollo a la Brasa (¼ Rotisserie Chicken), which came with fries and their Arroz Chaufa (Peruvian fried rice). At first it looked simple, but it had way more depth and flavor than your typical rotisserie chicken -- she really enjoyed it. We also tried the Suspiro Limeño for dessert. It was a bit sweet for me, but definitely unique in flavor and a fun way to end the meal. The service was attentive and courteous, and the restaurant itself was clean and inviting. The whole experience was a nice change of pace from the typical mountain-town restaurants we usually go to. The service was good. The food was horrible. I ordered chaufa rice with beef and an order of chicken wings. The rice was bland no taste they forgot the beef and added some chicken . Then she apologized and brought a side of beef but the meat was hard and had no taste. Peruvian food is delicious but this was low quality food without any taste. I regret eating here. Rice has no salt no oil only a spec of an egg . My husbands ceviche was ok not tasty either. read more

Came in on a Wednesday for dinner, so I was able to get sat right away. The staff were very friendly when greeting me, and came back to take my order in the perfect amount of time. The restaurant is small but upbeat, and they have a full service bar in addition to the traditional dishes on the menu... and Inca cola as an added bonus. I had the loma saltado, which was good, but as someone who's had the homemade version it fell short for me. The beef tasted like it was flash cooked versus slow cooked as it is traditionally done. But still very enjoyable and I would definitely return to try out some more dishes. read more

We had a wonderful time here, Jhony waited on this and was a joy to talk to you very kind. This is the best Peruvian food we have ever outside of Peru! On this visit we had the ceviche, causa, aji de gallina, parihuela, and the crema volteada for desert. And of course we had to have the classic Peruvian soda to round out our meal, the Inca Kola (tastes close to bubblegum for the uninitiated.) For those new to Peruvian food it is unique, combining Asian influences with coastal, rainforest, and high elevation Andean ingredients. Some negative comments seem to steam from expecting Mexican flavors, but while Peruvian has some overlap, it is very different. I would go with an open palete if it is your first time, as Peruvian food has amazing fusion flavors authentic to it's country and heritage. Jhony's is a great representation of some classic dishes you will find in Peru, and are presented in a lovely manner. We hope to return soon to try some more dishes! read more

Never having had Peruvian cuisine before I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great, and the food amazing! The mussels were so flavorful and carried a spicy kick, and the grilled artichoke was the most tender and flavorful I've ever had. My daughter had the dark 1/4 roasted chicken and she devoured it, and I had the stir fry skirt steak with home made fries and this unbelievably spicy and tasty dipping sauce. Give this place a try. Food was tasty. Service a little sparse. All went well until the end when server presented check and price on three items did not match menu. He said he hadn't changed menu to match new prices. That just doesn't sit well with me. One item was 20% more than the menu price. The other was 30% more than the menu price. We came in tired from a 9 hour drive from Yellowstone and we were craving comfort food. We enjoyed every dish, ceviche, tamale, beet salad, and El Bistec a lo Pobre. Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. Very slow service but friendly. The ladies cooking in back seemed to be having fun. It's nice to feel like your food is prepare by people who feel good about what they are putting in to their product. Good wine list for a small place like this. Ask for the wine club punch card. 10th glass free. Ceviche was excellent. Red fish with leche de tigre, aji limon (which is red), red onion, sea weed, corn kernels, sweet potato slices. Probably have to drive 500 miles to the next place that serves ceviche in SLC. I haven't found a place in Boise yet that comes close. Skip the chicken sandwiches. They are made with dry cuts. Will go back to try the full on pollo la brasa, cause, pappas huancaina, etc. Really hope that Peruvian and Nikkei restaurants are on the rise in the US as the food press is saying. read more

It was Peruvian food but their dishes seemed to feature soy sauce, peppers, onions/scallions, and chile/pepper sauces in such a way that it actually tasted like Chinese food to me. I was put off by that and left feeling disappointed. However, after doing a little research I discovered that Peru has a huge Chinese community which explains why a lot of Peruvian dishes might have an Asian flair. I wasn't a fan of Jhony's because I'm not really into those kinds of flavors but I think the service was okay, the food is cooked well, and it's such a cute spot that I think it's worth checking out at least once. read more

Seeking a different cuisine in Ketchum, we decided to give Peruvian cuisine a try. We arrived at about 6:30 without a reservation and were found a seat in the center of the restaurant. Probably due to the fact that it was Memorial Day, there was only one person to serve what turned out to be ten tables. But our server did a pretty good job keeping up with the patrons. We ordered a bottle of red Cabernet from the fairly priced wine list and started our dinner with a couple of appetizers. The fried yucca root was light but had a little oil flavor which distracted from its taste. We also ordered the ceviche which was fresh, but it tasted more like tilapia than red snapper as it had been listed. For a main course I ordered the seafood stew which was quite good, with muscles, clams, squid, shrimp and a fillet that once again had the muddy flavor of tilapia. It would have been nice to have had a spoon or some soft bread to scoop up the broth that remained in the bowl. My wife ordered the Aji de Gallina and was thoroughly unimpressed. Her description was that it tasted "like chicken covered with cream of chicken soup". I tried a bite and found it to be pretty bland and flavorless too. I must say that I would have been willing to return here but she would not. So, in retrospect, I have mixed feelings about Jhony's. I may give it another shot next winter when I return to ski, or then again, maybe not. read more
