[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Amazing history and fantastic margaritas! We very much enjoyed the roast beef! No reservations. Plan accordingly.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great local decor with a lot of local, Native American and hunting items strewn about the interior with an old log cabin vibe and bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat in the bar so we could watch the Sunday games.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Waitress was great. Made suggestions when asked and was attentive. Artichoke app was just ok. The butter and dipping sauce were bland. Artichoke was cooked well and had enough meat. Chips and salsa on the table is complimentary. Kind of out of place but a nice touch for bar snacks. Cocktails were very acidic. Switched to simple mixed drinks instead. Filet was cooked perfectly and was good quality. Choice of steak sauces were all good and worth trying. Comes with rice pilaf and grilled asparagus which were very good. Prime rib was also good and the baked potato was huge (as it should be in Idaho) :-)

Since 1972 serving the best of Idaho. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Pioneer Saloon is just the coolest in our town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great bar to hang and enjoy a meal or in the dining room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] People are friendly. Good is delicious and tasty. The drinks are fabulous and well made... it's Ketchum!!!!

We were looking forward to eating here as it was recommended by a fellow cattleman. Unfortunately, we were woefully disappointed. The host staff was rude and unorganized. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tables were cramped and they oversat them on top of that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the biggest disappointment was the prime rib, it was cold and much more rare than ordered. The only highlight was the polite waiter and the bread

We came here on our 1st night visiting Sun Valley. This was a recommended place to visit and it was a place to go for our group celebrating my brother in law's Birthday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cute and it was sooo crowded, but we didn't wait too long before we got seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is delicious and great staff, would recommend when visiting Sun Valley.

    Top sirloin and baked potato

The blue cheese salad was by far the best thing that I had. Tiffany was an excellent server and really took care of us. The salad had so much yummy dressing and I loved the sliced carrots. I got the top sirloin and a baked potato. The baked potatoes is a little dry on the outside. The tops sirloin was cooked, medium rare and was really tasty. I'm not a huge Stake guy, but I love the portion size. Not too much. The inside is really fun with a lot of taxidermy animals and a large old, wild West posters, and memorabilia. I like the mission of this restaurant that it tries to reflect an old Idaho in the wild wild West. Our complaint is the scheduling and seating. We went early, got our names on the list and were told an hour 30. We came back after then we were told 20 to 25 minutes, and then we came back again and then we were told 15. Seems like there needs to be a better structure in place.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Pioneer Saloon is such a cool spot. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit -- packed with antiques everywhere, even pieces tied to Hemingway. It feels historic and cozy at the same time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went around 3, and just a heads up: dinner starts at 4 (even though they open at 3), so don't ask for the dinner menu too early like we did Between 3-4 they have appetizers, and we tried the salmon and bread -- totally new to me and I loved it. For dinner, the baked potato with steak pieces was excellent. So hearty and flavorful. They even offered us a free pork chop, which was such a nice surprise. We finished with the mud pie -- absolutely delicious, but honestly way too much after everything else. Come hungry! Great food, great vibe, and such a unique place. Definitely recommend.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Had an outstanding time at Pioneer Saloon with the family![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is super unique and fun, very fitting of its name.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We demolished our food and drinks so you can't go wrong with anything on the menu since it's all delicious Huge shout out to our server Kelson, who was truly our eye in the hurricane on a busy night. She took such good care of us and we can't thank her enough

Another great visit here as Pioneer Saloon! Perfectly cooked NY strip and sirloin. Did I mention their bread is amazing?! Our waiter was so nice and just a ball of energy! We love it here!

Ask the Community - Pioneer Saloon

What are there gluten free options?

I'm assuming that they don't take reservations?

Correct. No reservations. If you come at 5 or 5:30 you should be good. Try to sit upstairs. The downstairs is dungeon-like. Have the mud pie and Jim spud!

Is this restaurant kid friendly? Like one year old and three year old?

Kids are allowed but there's no kids menu. They can make a grilled cheese sandwich and have carrots with ranch dressing. My kids have been going there since they were that age. :)

We stayed during ski season and here are the things I was most happy with (in no particular order): * The said it was a continental breakfast so I wasn't expecting all they offered like fresh local bagels and pastries, fresh berries, cut up pineapple, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, a very high quality granola, oatmeal with all the fixings, a pancake machine, juices, coffees with syrups and milks, lots of high quality tea choices, scrabbled eggs allow and with some mix-ins sometimes cheese or veggie, hard boiled eggs, meat like bacon sausage patties or links, sometime or potato like hash brown patties or shedded hash browns, roasted veggies, and on the weekend days they offered salmon with capers and onions. Plus flavored yogurts in individual containers and whole fruit like apples, oranges, and bananas. * humidifiers in the room. The hotel is so dry. We live at elevation in Park City, UT but Ketchum is drier! We ran the humidifier on high constantly but it was so great they offered this in the room. * they have a parking garage. It is $30/day AND there are easy access free spots around the hotel, but I imagine during peak season the offered parking is best. And it's covered so your car will be snow-free! * the heated pool for year round enjoyment (and two hot tubs). The air was too cold for my liking (because you have to get out eventually). * pretty decent gym with peloton bikes. * oh and the restaurant happy hour seems to be a hit with hotel guests and locals. The one huge downside was because it's so dry and they don't have a humidifier installed for the hotel, we got static shocked every time we touched the elevator buttons or unlocking our room. And it hurt! And when you're in town, I recommend the city museum, the wolf museum, the library, and the cemetery. And if the pedestrian paths are snow-free then head down Sun Valley Road.

The small rooms were average hotel fare with dated carpeting and decor. And the cost was too much for the lack of quality including unprofessional help, no valet for parking or bags. They just seem like a cheap hotel chain that doesn't care. Did I mention that it was empty at the height of the summer season. Should have been a clue.

The food always comes out hot and prepared well. My personal favorite is fish and chips but occasionally branch out. Latest is calamari steak. Not your typical rubbery appetizer. Served with a simple crusty bread and lemon wedge. Killer! Will definitely do that again. Cocktails above average for the area and match typical price for area. There is almost always a large crowd gathered out front, which usually tells you everything you need to know--but we finally made a point to stop in for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The Brews Since it's a public house, the beer list is extensive. I opted for their Pilsner and Lager. Both were exactly what you want on a warm afternoon: light, crisp, and incredibly refreshing. The Food We decided to put their "best in town" claims to the test, and they did not disappoint: * Fish and Chips: They advertise these as some of the best around, and I'm happy to report they aren't exaggerating. The breading was perfectly light--not greasy or heavy--and the fish itself was delicate, flaky, and cooked to perfection. * BLT with Grilled Halloumi: My wife went with this, and the addition of the halloumi was a game-changer. Served on a pretzel bun, it was a unique and delicious twist on a classic. * The Fries: You can't have a pub lunch without good fries. These are those "just right" beer pub fries--crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Easily my favorite style. Verdict The atmosphere was great, the service handled the crowd well, and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back for lunch on our next trip. If you're in Ketchum, don't just drive by--give it a try.

Their food was "pub" but the elk burger was handmade and fresh, the pot pie wasn't out of a can thought the veg maybe been frozen not fresh, and some of the store bought stuff like their pretzel seemed better than a defrosted ballpark.
