The food always comes out hot and prepared well. My personal favorite is fish and chips but occasionally branch out. Latest is calamari steak. Not your typical rubbery appetizer. This is an actual steak cut into thick strips, lightly breaded and salted to perfection. Then tossed in a subtle, but flavorful, tomato', onion, garlic, cilantro salad. Served with a simple crusty bread and lemon wedge. Killer! Will definitely do that again. Cocktails above average for the area and match typical price for area. We had a really great experience at The Cellar. We came in late on a weekday and they are open late so we thought it would work out. All 6 of us needed a seat in an absolutely packed restaurant and bar. While we waited to get seated a server took the order of our two youngest kids so the food would be out sooner- what a huge relief as they were getting HANGRY. I would not Reccomend this place anymore unfortunately, the food is amazing but the service is freaking terrible. First of all i went there last year after a long time. The blonde who worked there was extremely unfriendly i was just trying to make basic conversation and she interrupted that as flirting and decided to be rude and i just sat there by myself and had an absolutely miserable time! So I did not tip her. So then I went there again and sat at the bar and the blonde bartender again was very rude and ostracized me for being there because she was mad that I did not tip her! They do not even say hello when you enter. They are clearly prejudiced! I am an Elkhorn owner and I have owned my place for about 6 years now! I will never eat at this establishment again. This was a solid place to come for dinner! The food was good, and I loved the vibe. I ordered a beef slider and a side of mashed potatoes. The slider was a good way to get a little taste of burger without getting the whole thing. The mashed potatoes were a little bland, but the gravy was good and had enough flavor to offset it. We took a big crew to the cellar pub after a nice long day of skiing. The location was fun, and the server was super nice and accommodating. We had a few kids with us and he was patient with the kiddos. Anyways, the food was good, but not like OH MY GOSH good. Shrimp tacos were good, soup was YUM; and the hummus was also good. With a week in Sun Valley I was looking for a place to eat some fish or seafood and the Cellar Pub seemed to have one of the better variety of items on the menu at reasonable prices and I was glad I tried it. Located in the middle of town across from the Visitor Center the Cellar can be easy to miss since it is downstairs, but trudge down the stairs and you will find a cozy, dark and welcoming dive bar. Decorated in ski town eclectic that feels well worn this is a great place to relax and unwind. The Cellar offers drink specials and happy hour pricing, but I ended up ordering the 3 piece Fish and Chips. The plate came out with 3 nice sized hunks of cod with a crunchy batter, a pile of fries, coleslaw and home made tarter sauce. The fish was very good, perfectly cooked and just slightly sweet with the fried outside hanging on to the fish. The tarter sauce was tasty and the fries and slaw were also nicely done. For the price this was a very good meal, tasty and filling. I actually think that I missed out on the evening special which was a Penne Pasta with pesto and shrimp; it looked and smelled excellent. I also talked to some other people on my trip who went to the Cellar a couple of days later and they had a great meal as well. The Cellar is well worth a visit, great dive bar, cool decor, solid service and excellent food; unless you have a issue with being underground this is the place. read more

The place has, like all of Ketchum, changed. Absolutely packed. But mainly gross negligence by their staff. My brother-in-law and I (plus a number of cousins) were all in town for the weekend because of a separate celebration. Afterwards, we thought: hey, let's go out and check out our old haunts. I did not have pockets, so my brother-in-law was carrying my ID and CCs. After he went through, I realized this and asked him to hand me mine. He handed me his own, on mistake of course. The bouncer - doing his job - said "wait a minute, I've seen this" and took it as a fake or as borrowing an ID (a misdemeanor). Understandable up to now. But then it got out-of-control. They pulled my brother-in-law out (no refund for the drink he bought nor explanation to him). I explained the mistake and had my brother-in-law take out my ID in order to remedy the situation. Clearly we'd just mixed up IDs. We were both well over 21 and there was no question of authenticity. Fine, fine, bouncers & establishments can be cautious and refuse us entry despite our obviously real IDs, that is a business's right. BUT THEN they refused to give back our IDs. We just want to go elsewhere at this point, but they will not return our IDs. We have flights the next day, so needless to say we need them that night. I ask the bouncer if I may speak with the manager. "No." I see Karl, someone I knew in high school, is working there and ask if he can get clarification for us. He agrees and then mysteriously never returns. Now I'm getting upset, so I tell the bouncer to call the police if he thinks a crime has been committed and report me, or give me the IDs back. "No." All the time, the bouncer is getting more belligerent. Eventually I have to resort to calling the police myself and two sheriff's office deputies show up and kindly retrieve our IDs and validate them in about two seconds. The deputies tell us the establishment doesn't want us in there (a mutual feeling now) and that they were told we are there doing this stuff every weekend (literally a complete & shocking lie; this is my first time back to town since COVID). As a final insult, the staff had marked up my brother-in-law's ID with some kind of imprint stamp or something of that nature, which the deputies assured us is (a) not legal, but (b) did not permanently damage the ID. Luckily TSA agreed, so we had no airport troubles, otherwise I might just have taken up the deputies suggestion to contact the Idaho Liquor Board to report them (and I'm still of half a mind to do so). Welcome home, I guess. Next time you confiscate someone's identification, you call the police if the person insists it is real and will not leave without it. You are not the law. Detaining people or their property is not part of your job description, you are supposed to bring the LAW into these situations. And vandalizing an ID before it has been authenticated by LEGAL authorities is absolutely atrocious. read more

This place was literally heaven on Earth. The indoor/outdoor option was a nice option. I ordered a shrimp/pesto kind of pasta and chicken. It was the best pasta I have ever had! Most pasta penne I get is greasy and doesn't have a really flavorful bite. This pasta made for the best leftovers too! I live in Boise and would gladly made the almost 3 hour drive for dinner at the Cellar Pub for the pasta. The atmosphere outside on the New York-style in-ground patio was warm and inviting.
