Margarita on the patio.

Incredible service. Loved the clam chowder, the crab Louie salad and the margarita. We had the perfect table outside in the sun.

Looking at previous reviews, I'm shocked to see such a low rating because this has become our favorite place for lunch in the wood river valley. The view is fantastic thanks to large full length windows with a rustic wood burning fireplace in the center. You can easily see Dollar Mountain from most seats, which is as pretty to look at in summer as in winter. The sandwiches and salads are top notch, my favorite being the Southwest Chicken Salad, made up of a perfect blend of lettuce, avocado, grilled chicken topped with corn, tortilla strips and a mango salsa with house made southwest ranch. Our favorite waiter, Jack, has been with the resort for years, and now splits his time between marketing and entertaining guests at the club. He's friendly, fast and knows more about the area than I could think of questions to ask. To top it off, the meal is followed with a complimentary warm chocolate chip cookie that always seems like it came straight from the oven to your table. Perhaps things were different in the past, clearly they learned from their mistakes and pulled a perfect 180. Five stars.

The spacious, bright, comfortable restaurant very possibly serves THE best Rueben sandwich on the planet...

The windows are dirty, the baseboard heaters don't wok and have cracked paint and the rugs are dirty and tired too. We had a nice time but the building and room felt they were in a time warp and in need of some TLC. Service by Terry was professional and fun at the same time. We still don't know what the meal cost. There were no prices on the menu and our friends paid so we are not sure. Probably very pricey! The manhattan was perfect, not too sweet and quite large! The antipasto board was decent but not spectacular. A few pieces of cheese, some jam, cornichons and hot smoked Idaho trout. It was served with lackluster crispy flatbread crackers. The butternut squash soup was really tasty. A really hearty portion, it was a bit coarse in texture and could have been blended a tad longer to make it smoother and more luxurious. the flavor was great with the pepita topping. The pork chop I chose was a mistake. Really overcooked, a tad dry and drenched in a sickeningly sweet apple compote that was more like dried apples rehydrated in sugar water with some spices. The best thing on the plate was the parsnip puree and there was not much of that. Wish I had ordered the braised lamb shank, however Terry did not mention that in his top three... Dessert was way better than it sounded. It was called a banana cheesecake however it was really a light banana flavored mousse between two layers of sponge cake with cooked banana puree on top. The chocolate dessert was fine. No one could finish it given the large portions of everything. It's a solid 3.5 stars, can't give it four.

When in Rome... er, I mean Sun Valley…read more This was our first visit to the Sun Valley area, so we figured we had to try the famous Ram Restaurant. Historically, I'm not one to seek out French-inspired dining. I have a hard time getting excited about paying a lot of money for a tiny portion of food artistically placed in the middle of a very large plate. But hey, when in Sun Valley... And I have to give credit where credit is due -- we had a great dinner. We had the lamb and the Hungarian goulash, and both were very good. But surprisingly, one of the stars of the night was the Caesar salad. It was exceptional -- possibly the best Caesar I've had, or at least the best in a very long time. We split it, by the way, which is why the portion in the photo looks so small. For once, the tiny portion wasn't the restaurant's fault. Then came the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was ridiculously good. So good, in fact, that my wife -- who specifically announced that she "wasn't hungry for dessert" -- proceeded to eat practically the entire thing while I sat there starving, watching my dessert disappear one bite at a time. Marriage is about sacrifice, apparently. Evan was our waiter and was awesome -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The entire Sun Valley resort is beautiful. Between the architecture, mountains and village atmosphere, you could almost forget you're in Idaho and think you've somehow wandered into Deutschland. Overall, a great first experience at The Ram and definitely something you should try at least once. Next time, though, we may skip everything else and just order Caesar salad and TWO Sticky Toffee Puddings!

Back for second time in two days. Love, love The Ram. Enjoyed scallops, salmon and more scallops…read more Shout out to the staff for taking good care of us. Always a great time!!
