A beautiful ambience for sure. However, our service was slow and unresponsive. I wouldn't expect that with this type of restaurant. The food was delicious, I recommend the tamale appetizer. The only dissatisfaction was that it took over an hour to have our dinner prepared and served. And our server barely came to check on us during this time. I believe they may be short on staff. Just went back last week with the same group and had an even more incredible experience. I've become one of those odd ducks who only eats whole foods that are plant-based so basically vegan but more so. The wine here was amazing. (Given it's name, you'd expect it to be! Didn't disappoint on that score.) For food.... given the prices I expected EXCELLENCE. That is not what we got. The special avocado gazpacho was indeed excellent - one of the best dishes I have had in the past year. However the special watermelon salad was lacking... and then for our main course we split the house special of roasted duck.... it was - horrors!! - over cooked! And we were charged $7 to split it. Whatever to the charge but overcooked to boot? No thank you. Dessert of flourless chocolate cake (how can you go wrong?) was excellent (but teeny). Giving four stars instead of three because the service was excellent, the location with the outdoor patio is romantic and most appealing, and I'm thinking I will err on the side of the kitchen having had a bad night on a Tuesday. But seriously hoping they read this and never ever over-cook the duck again. It's a travesty. read more

Terrible service. First of all, when the hostess led us to our table, my husband's seat was wet. The hostess said,"oh it's just water." In other words, feel free to sit in a puddle of water at dinner. Had to ask for bread three times while the people arrived after us had been served them. Server said it was the kitchen's fault we did not get our bread. (Hm.) Wanted to order wine with dinner, but no one came by to ask if we would like to order wine with dinner. (A revenue opportunity lost.) Complained to the manager, which he said he was too busy for us. No apologies or anything. We have had many meals at high end restaurants. This was by far the worst service. The chef/manager yelled at us and in the end said, "go ahead, don't pay for it." So we didn't. (Complete revenue opportunity loss for the restaurant.) Here is the question: if you want to serve people meals as a for-profit business, why make customers angry and end up serving them for free? What is the business sense in this? read more

I don't want to hurt their star rating as they look lovely, but i have to post a warning for people before booking. When we made a reservation for some girlfriends at Vintage, they acted like they just needed to charge a hold. When some important things came up and we needed to cancel about 7 hours after we made the reservation, and still 4 hours before the reservation- they said they would charge us $300! I've never heard of anything like that for a place that isn't more like hundreds minimum/person (eg michelin). Then, they said they would charge even if some of us came to fulfill the reservation but not the same total number of people. I respect their right to do that, of course, but i wish for my friend's sake that it was more obvious they would do that since it's no small amount of money. By the way, i love "stags leap", but having it (either stag's leap or stags' leap and yes they are different things) on the menu is no amazing feat like the other reviewer implies (unless they have certain years) and it makes me think that other aspects are over hyped. We are on our honeymoon and stumbled on this gem. Best food we've had so far on this trip. Everything was outstanding. We spent the day mountain biking so we were starving! We had the shrimp tamale, fig and burrata salad, corn soup with vanilla bean (sounds weird but honestly was amazing), petrale sole and a ribeye steak. Everything was delicious!! My husband had the bread pudding for dessert and said it was outstanding. I had the pannacotta. Mine was good, but have had better. I have had few occasions to write a 5-star review, but Vintage has earned it. I came here once on New Years Eve, and again on a quiet snowy Tuesday in April. On both visits, the food was exemplary: from the menu, to the presentation, to the close-your-eyes-and-moan-it's-so-good first bites. The restaurant seats 18, and is housed in a cozy pioneer era cabin. The wine list is decadent, featuring names like Chateau n'Yquem and Stags Leap. My most recent meal included Boston clam chowder, with clams so big and fresh they must harvest them in Wood River. The lamb rack was perfectly cooked, the potatoes given life with fennel and cream. Our dessert was the best flourless chocolate cake I have ever eaten, with a pecan crust and homemade coffee ice cream. My experience on NYE was similar-despite a fully booked house, no detail was spared. I could go on, but will instead insist that you make a reservation and try for yourself. Immediately. Then I ordered the corn tamale, but they never mentioned it was spicy, but said don't eat it until you get the bread. I asked for the bread twice. It only came after I finished the tamale, but we had no knife for the butter. We had to ask for knives. No one ever checked to make sure all was ok. We came for the halibut in the previous yelp reviews and no halibut! Very disappointed. Main meal was good, but not why we came. When we move here, we will not be back. read more

This place has so much ambience! And the food is absolutely top of the line! We had the butternut (with coconut milk and peanut butter) soup, the pecan chicken, the oysters, and the pistachio grouper. All were fabulous! We ordered panacotta for dessert and they brought us the chocolate torte. Both were wonderful but the torte was just plain amazing! So good. On a pleasant summer evening the abiance of Vintage's outdoor garden seating is perhaps the nicest in the Sun Valley area. The menu has a somewhat limited range of offerings, a feature I generally find encouraging as it generally means these are the strongest offerings from this kitchen. The evening we dined the menu was augmented with quite a few specialties of the day. One of these we tried was 'smoked tomato with burrata'. The tomatoes were excellent, some of the sweetest and tastiest I've had in quite a while. The 'smoke' was a nice touch but was only really apparent on the red tomato. The yellow tomatoes were still very fine. And the burrata was a lucious creamy topping. The 'shouldn't-miss' items were reported to us by our server as the tamale starter, the duck and the chicken. We ordered all three. The tamale was presented as this huge corn husk package with shrimp 'exploding' from the top. The shrimp are seasoned with a tangy sauce and the whole tamale sits in a similar broth. The duck was nicely prepared, the meat being tender and flavorful. The shortcoming was the paucity of sauce. It was very nice, sweet but still savory fruit sauce. There was just not enough to pair with the amount of duck meat served. As for the chicken, it is nicely crusted (pecan I believe). My chicken was slightly overcooked, making it a tad dry. But the accompanying potatoes were outstanding. The wine list offers a nice selection of half bottles which I often find ideal for a dining couple. Our service was congenial and efficient. The grilled peach dessert would have been very fine had the white peach itself been sweet. But when serving fresh fruit, it can be a roll of the dice. read more
