I shop at Trader Joe's every week. I love their specialty items. Today the cashier noticed one of my four thermal Trader Joe bags (the blue ones) was well used and had a broken zipper. I was asked how long I had the broken bag. It was purchased when the store first opened. The cashier gifted me a new thermal TJ bag for free, and thanked me for being one of their customers. More businesses can learn from this experience by looking for every opportunity to please their customers. read more

Best variety of natural and gourmet foods I have found in Shasta County. I moved here from the Bay Area in December and this is the only place I have found in county with such variety that I don't need to leave the county. Wonderful staff and food. I love the free coffee in the back and the free sample station. I have taken the ideas from the samples and used them at home for meals. They are easy and the family loves it! I bought some bread at Trader Joe's and it went moldy within a day or two. I understand that can happen with food that does not have a lot of preservatives but I was also a little upset at the wasted money so I called the store and they said don't worry about a thing just bring it in for a refund or exchange. I brought it back and the staff was overly friendly. I really love their old fashion values on regards to quality and customer service. read more

I've been a TJ's devotee since they opened their first store in Santa Rosa. When I moved to Hayfork 10 years ago, they had two stores in Santa Rosa. Over the years, friends often accuse me of secretly being on TJ's payroll, my enthusiasm is so unbridled. I was so thrilled when the Redding store opened! Friday, April 8, I was at the store early. I had gotten up at 5 a.m. in Hayfork to drive over two mountain passes, including a 45-minute wait at Buckhorn Summit, to get to Shasta Orthopedics in time for a 9 a.m. appointment. I was informed that my doctor had been out all week on a family emergency, and that staff had tried to contact me, but failed. I was so shocked, I just dropped my paperwork on the counter, turned around and left. Went to TJ's for some consumer therapy. An employee on duty, Sara Duncan, struck up a conversation with me, and in due course I unloaded my frustrating tale. She immediately gave me a huge hug, and gave me the number of the #1 customer service rep at Shasta Ortho. Then, when I was checking out, she came over and surprised me with one of their huge and beautiful flower bouquets -- compliment of Trader Joe's. By taking the time to honor a human being's sorrow and spread such good cheer around, they saved my day! read more

I have always enjoyed the food/beverage items purchased at Trader Joe's. What makes this store a plus, is the willingness most employee's have to help locate an item. The clerks all great! Also, and this is huge, the criminal transients don't seem to hang out at this store. read more

After moving here from the East Coast, and having been a loyal Whole Foods shopper for years, this place blew my mind, haha! The prices are great, and the selection is right. my only complaint would be the lack of organic fruit. Safeway has more organic fruit than Trader Joe's, what's up with that? Anyway, still a fan, we can shop here for a decent selection of organic goods, and grab a quick lunch too (we like the falafel wraps). read more

I live in Eureka and when in Redding stock up on wine and goodies! Love this store. Last trip picked up pumpkins and a real leaf fall wreath. Unfortunately, it drips bright orange liquid, I'm assuming something used to color the leaves. Love the wreath but can't hang it on the door. Any ideas on how to stop the bleeding? read more

I give them 2 stars based on having a higher quality of food than an average grocery store. However I think there must be a lot of shoppers out there who are not price conscious if they think this place is affordable. I am a shopper who always has an eye out for a good value, and I don't find the deals at Trader Joe's to be a good value. The trick is in the small quantities in the packages. Look at the amount you are getting by weight or volume rather than price and I think you will notice the "good deals" are really not so good after all. Another thing that irks me is the excessive packaging. If I want to buy some bell peppers for example, there is no reason in the world why I want them plastic wrapped and in a tray. Minimal packaging, I.e. a plastic bag, would suit my needs just fine and allow me the opportunity to select the individual items I want to purchase, all while saving a plastic tree. My final gripe with this store is it is just too crowded! I don't know if they put the isles too close together or if they just didn't design the store to handle the number of customers they have, but it makes for a unpleasant shopping experience in my opinion. If I am looking for a healthier option when grocery shopping, I prefer to go to Orchard Nutrition Center. Their prices aren't the greatest either, but they are at least a full fledged health food store. If you mostly shop Orchard Nutrition Center's bulk food section and produce and avoid processed foods it isn't so expensive. read more

Gotta love the Choc covered JoJos at Christmas, and the long list of other well priced and wholesomely made foods: Greens, nuts, curries, pasta sauces, tangerine juice, yogurts, hummus, and cheeses. Thank goodness for Trader Joe's! Their prices on cereal are better than WinCo and Walmart if you shop it right, and their milk and butter are typically priced better too. I've only ever purchased one item that was a dud, taste-wise. STAY AWAY from their "natural ramen" if you're looking for something that tastes like ramen. Instead, it tasted like watered down chicken broth with lots of "herbal" notes. Too potent and too bland, all at the same time. D: Yuck! I found out later that you can return anything you don't like to the store for an instant refund, but so far, I've liked everything else I've tried. The staff is super helpful and very friendly, and the samples are a great way to get some new dinner ideas. read more

This is my favorite store. It is upbeat, clean, well stocked and has very friendly employees. I like being around other shoppers who are enjoying themselves as much I am. Not people who are negative, shout obscenities at their children so everyone has to hear, are rude and pushy. I don't find this at Trader Joe's. Everyone seems to be enjoying their shopping experience as much as I am. On occasion I have gotten unacceptable produce but I just tell them about it and they are happy to give a refund or replace it. You don't have to bring back the item or even show a receipt. They just take your word for it. Not all stores will do that. Trader Joe's just wants to make their customers happy and coming back. They have certainly made me a loyal customer. there's so many things that makes trader joes great. mainly it makes getting groceries not a chore but a treat. don't go expecting it to be like Safeway where most everything is available. go expecting great items (some specialty) at awesome prices. highlights: atmosphere, customer service, frozen food selections!, wine variety and great cheeses. best place to grab a quick meal or a tasty lunch. the only things I wish they had was cold beer (it's only sold at room temp) and tahini would be appropriate. read more

TJs is the best! Been shopping there since the 70s in SoCal. I've never been disappointed in anything from them. Love their seeded rye bread. On my last trip I found frozen leeks!
