You know what really grind my gear is as you see a register taking opening for someone special at 7/14/25 at 10:20pm. Because that person at the register know them. Want good customer service? Great people to help you in the store? This Winco isn't it! I'm disabled and asked for help twice. In waiting for someone to help me to my car I asked the clerk and it took over 15 minutes until I decided to use the scooter to take the basket out. A manager named BOJON was rude and humiliating. He didn't help and didn't care that there wasn't help available. We spent almost $300 after a drive from Willows. We will not do that again. Even the clerk didn't call for help when I originally asked for help. The prices are not worth the sarcasm, dirty looks and humiliating treatment. read more

I purchased a seedless watermelon this morning. Got home cut it up and this thing was totally bland. As is the case with most of the produce I purchased at Winco. They get their produce from Mexico and they pick them way before they're even ripe. I ended up throwing my watermelon in the garbage and wasting six dollars They offer to replace it but why would I want another watermelon just to find out that it's going to be just the same as before and I will not be purchasing watermelon or any other melons from Winco in the future. it's not just Winco either. It's most of the produce that you find in the grocery stores all picked way too early. They do this so that they can leave it on the shelves longer however, you won't get any decent produce when they don't let it ripen up before they pick it read more

I so love Winco! I have only been shopping at Winco for the past year and I wish I knew about it sooner. The ambiance is nice, open and well lit. It is typically pretty busy but that is something I am okay with, something to be aware of though. The pizza counter at the front is so good, you can order food for them to cook for you or take it home to cook yourself. read more

Went to Winco in Redding on Mother's day 2020. A woman was allowing her child to sit ON THE MEAT! I took a picture so I could show it to an employee but they instead bitched at ME for telling on her and made me delete the picture so I couldn't put it online. They don't want you to know. Also, the lady had one of her kids video tape me talking to the manager but she did NOT have to delete it. Wonder why? It's because mine had proof that Winco doesn't care about us. read more

It's winco! Lol what do you expect? I make a point to go either late during the week or early mornings and especially avoiding the first of the month!!! I'm talking by all means necessary!! Or you will see the most god awful people who probably make more than we do by sitting on their butts, Anyways, I don't shop here much, I prefer Costco or Safeway, but when it's late or I need bulk there good. Definitely never buy produce or meat but other things are super cheap and they are open 24/7 so I can dodge the welfare crowd that seems to frequent this establishment. This is our favorite store! The prices are amazing, the people are always happy to see you and are extremely helpful, and they have just about everything you would need to stock your shelves or pantry with! The only problem is that they don't carry any stuff you find in a pharmacy section except baby stuff (diapers and the like), but Walmart is very close by, so you can get those items easily with very little trouble! I have never had such rude and disrespectful treatment from a Winco employee. We were buying some instant breakfast of which I had some coupons for the product that I printed from Coupon.com. I have used coupons from that website for years at this store and other stores. (Winco even uses coupons.com to handle their digital coupons). The self-checkout clerk claimed she had never seen one before(typical millennial comment- take the blinders off girl). I asked to see the manager, while I was waiting she made rude comments behind my back. The manager refused to accept the coupons because they might be a fraud. There was no posting about not accepting printed coupons like their posting about not accepting credit cards. The lack of training of their employees and constantly dodging forklifts and pallets of food while trying to shop has made my decision to shop at other stores like Safeway. I may a little bit more for certain items I sure get better treatment! read more

This location only gets three stars for me. I hate when I have to give a location anything other than four stars or five stars. And this location is not absolutely terrible so it definitely does not deserve only one star or two stars. I feel three stars is very accurately depict this location. It is definitely not the worst store location I have ever been to, but please make no mistake, it is definitely not the best either. Not even top 100. First off, the floors at this location are extremely dirty. It is like they never mop them or something. I did see one of the crewmembers using a dust mop in the very back of the store. But a desk mop is actually more like a broom and less like a mop. It does not get any of the sticky Substances off of the floor. I really feel they need to get a traditional mop with a bucket and some soapy water and mop the floor because everything is super sticky as if someone spilled 1000 cans of soda all over the floor and let it sit and dry for multiple days. I mean it was completely unacceptable. My family even bought a big bottle of water, well let me be more specific, my family bought a big case of water from this location. But when we opened up the case of water one of the water bottles were half empty as if someone had already drink the water and put the bottle back in the case completely unacceptable! read more

Disappointing experience at this store. Thought I would try to save a few dollars and stock up on supplies. This store is very busy so I went in early to do my shopping. Saw a child elbow deep in the trail mix and two employees laughing about it. One of them was a manager and the other was a relatively new employee who was being taught. They did nothing to stop it and didn't throw out the batch of trail mix? Just continued to joke about the situation. I understand that we are all trying to change our ways during this pandemic, I witnessed none of that in this store. Very sad, will not shop at this Winco in the future. read more

With that in mind, I ran into Winco to do some quick shopping tonight, and as I'm passing the sausage section, what do I see?! Yup! Thee sausages that I thought I was only going to get at Safeway! New York Style Sausage Company hot Italian sausage! What's the kicker? You get almost double the sausage for only a dollar more! That equals sausage happiness for my meat eating man and happiness for me because I'm getting almost double the wieners for half the price! Oh, the restrooms are getting remodeled finally. I love Winco! I shop here faithfully. I really recommend this place for canned and boxed goods. They have the cheapest shelf items and to prove it they post signs on random, popular items with price comparisons to Safeway, Food Max, and Raleys. Winco has a deli department which sells hot items and they have a huge selection of spices, nuts, cereal, granola, candy, and more that you can buy in bulk. They also have a pizza place in there (Leonardi's, I think) that you can buy pizza hot, bake it at home, or buy it by the slice. And it's good! Especially their smokehouse pizza, Mmmm. There is also your typical bakery with baked goods. They sell really good fresh bagels and of course you can get special order cakes, but I haven't tried them yet. They have a huge selection of fresh coffee beans and a walk-in beer cooler. Best part is they're open 24 hours! The only downsides are that its always busy unless you go in the early morning or late at night, and that their produce isn't the best. They have a wide selection but it doesn't seem to last long. read more

Do not go here if you are looking for somewhere that's upholding COVID-19 policies. There's a large sign that states that masks are required. However, I should've known better when a family walked in, completely maskless, read the sign and proceeded to walk in. I first thought the family was an anomaly. Clearly, I was wrong because there were MORE people not wearing masks than people wearing masks. Also, there was zero social distancing. I also saw 2 employees wearing masks under their noses. I was in shock. Generally, it's already terrible when people wear their masks incorrectly under their noses, but these people didn't even have masks on them. They were grouped together in aisles NOT wearing masks! I walked out with my husband, called the manager from the parking lot to let him know that I did not feel safe, and went somewhere else. While the manager was apologetic, an apology is not an action plan. I sent a message to corporate as well and received a "nothing" response. Look, if you're not mandating masks and not following California's health guidance, you should just say that and save us all the trip. But don't pretend like you're in line with COVID-19 guidance. However, just know you're playing with people's lives. read more

Always the lowest prices to grocery shop. Not always the best at having enough registers open. They also seem to run out of products real fast like they don't stock enough. When asked if they have anymore of a product in the back they never go look for me. Just say all we have is out on the floor. Update- Went to Winco today to do our weekly shopping. The cashier was absolutely amazing. I have shopped there forever and she remembers that I have 3 kids and always ask me about them. But I was sad to see that while shopping there was a ton a leaky spots in the roof and water dripping down. Even at the register as I was checking out I got rain water dripping on me. WinCo produce may not be the cream of the crop, but if it were displayed better, I'm sure lots of people would change their mind. There's a lot to be said of the practice of spotlighting the produce: it creates dramatic shadows, etc. to make the produce "pop". That's why places like Safeway, Raley's and Fry's practice it. And, again, it's a lot cheaper here than at Safeway. If you're a good shopper (and I know you are), you'll take your time to pick out the best fruits and veggies and be happy with your selection. BTW - the best asparagus are the thin stalks JMHO. As for the meat selection - Hands down - WinCo. And I like their petite sirloin over Safeways. The flavor and the texture is better. The packaged sausages have more variety (including some 'gourmet' selections), Lot's of pork options (chops, ribs, shoulder,etc.). Same for chicken (bone-in, boneless, fryers, etc.) Oh yeah, their BULK FOODS section is huge! Everything from dog foods/bird food to gravy mixes to candy to pasta and granola and so much more. There is no one in the city who even comes close to the selection available here. They even have "grind your own" peanut butter - no additives, etc. Just peanuts - period. And they have fresh honey - I think three varieties. The one downfall is the crowds. Like stated in other posts: avoid the first of the month, and try to go during "off" hours. The deli closes at 8 or 9pm, so plan accordingly. If you're looking to save money and get a great selection - this is the best place in town. If you want to indulge in specialties not found at WinCo then please do hit up Sunset or Holiday or Raley's, but be prepared to say goodbye to your money. (I wouldn't even bother with Food Maxx - I've been in there maybe three times in my nine years of living in Redding.) read more

I refuse to shop here unless I absolutely have to. Usually its early morning or late night,to avoid the crazies. If you have it in you to go during peak daytime hours,you're likely to get run over by one of the thousands of people with carts throttling down any given aisle.I truly believe this place exceeds the maximum occupancy. Scary place. Scary parking lot. Be AFRAID! Wide selection, excellent pricing on dairy and frozen products, lots of fresh produce. TOO MANY PEOPLE. The first time I was there was on a weekday just before Thanksgiving. I almost died from cart attacks in the aisles. I went there with my daughter, who was all about WinCo..... she took off and left me at the entrance with a 2-year-old, trying to get a cart and stay out of everyone's way. I spent about 5 minutes in the entry aisle (which channels into the produce section), standing off to one side, watching people STREAMING past me with shopping carts in an agressive manner. I was petrified. It was beyond bizzare. And after she finally came back looking for me, she got me into the main section of the store, and then I found myself dodging forklifts and floor polishers. This was like at 11 AM. I've been there since then. It is better in the EARLY morning hours, and possibly after midnight....but since I'm coming from Hayfork, THAT ain't happening. Anyhow, in spite of their fresh bread rolls and decent yogurt prices (I'm from Hayfork -- I can't buy ice cream), I avoid this place. Too crowded, too weird. Meat prices aren't any better than Food Maxx, but it has a huge produce section, and (as previously mentioned) dairy and frozen and canned prices are good. I have shopped at the Redding, CA Winco since it opened. I am president of the homeowners association of a senior subdivision. We have residents in their upper 90's who have compromised immune systems. I am putting together a number of healthy people who will shop for elderly neighbors who should not go out. I asked the cashier what they needed to allow one person to exceed the limits for items restricted to one or two per customer. I was told this was not possible. I said possibly I could provide a letter from our board of directors to allow someone to buy essentials for our shut ins. The cashier called the manager who said there is no way a single shopper could exceed the imposed limits. Although this is normally a good store, I am very disappointed in the position they have taken. Shame on them! read more

What a great store! I was really happy to know Redding had a Winco when I moved, and even more excited to see how much bigger this store is than the one back home that I am used to. There is a nice little cafe area at the front, which is new to me. The bulk food section is huge, which I love. The aisles are long, the staff is friendly, the store is clean, the prices are low. We all have a right to chose. I get that. But I don't get a store who claims to care, not taking proper precautions, simple steps to protect its patrons. On Sunday, June 14, 2020. I entered Winco, in Redding, California to find they were not cleaning their carts, nor giving us the Supplies to do it ourselves. I watched as people looked around for cleaning supplies. I had hoped to see the person who brought the carts in off the street cleaning them before giving them back to the public. But i watched and nothing was done.. Workers were in the deli, and bakery doing there thing with poorly worn hair nets only. Few with gloves and not one with a mask. I usually spend close to 5k a year at this store. But I found i only left with 100.00 of prepackaged food. So I headed for Traider Joe's and as I walked up heard a clerk stop an elderly woman from grabbing a cart, saying, "let me get you a clean one." Excellent! I love winco! Let me start off saying that it is not nicely decorated- like Safeway or Raleys. It is just mostly concrete floor with really bright lights. That being said it is clean. So four stars for the reason that it is not glamorous. Now on to why I love it: they have an amazing bulk foods section. They even have freshly made honey with the bees still there in a little box. Cereals, granola, pasta, flour, candy are among the other things you can find. They also have really good deli ham straight from their deli. The prices are so much lower than Safeway (but comparable to foodmax ). The employees seem happy and maybe this is because it is an employee owned company.....whaaaat? I can shop somewhere that has really cheap prices -like competitively cheap- AND the employees are not getting screwed over. And I don't need a memership. And I can also choose to be more environmentally friendly by buying bulk foods. Great! I'll take it. I also like the pizza. Despite what other reviews have said I like the Gourmet veggie pizza. It sucks they charge you for extra sauce or ranch but the pizza is really cheap and you get a giant slice that could be made into two. It's 2 dollars for basically two slices. Shopping there does need some getting used to as the lay out is not like that of Safeway but other than that, I can't think of a reason someone would choose to shop elsewhere (well I can - foodmax for cheaper produce). Gonna start with Winco because that's my first place I went today. Based on my ratings I'd give Winco 4 stars because of the crazy cheap prices relative to other markets. I used to live in the Bay Area and even compared to the cheapest grocery stores there, window is still by far the cheapest. The store isn't too badly laid out either. I must say first of all that I have gone to Winco since they came to our town of Redding, CA. I will not be doing so from this time forward. While most of the grocery stores have made it much better for those of us that are in the mature part of our lives or people with compromised ammune systems the only thing Winco is done is to give an early time during the week for us to shop. Many of us would wish and have asked Winco about letting us order and pick up our groceries or maybe set up home delivery the answer is always no and sometimes not too nicely. I know they have a policy of cash, check, or debit card and that was fine. So think about if we pick up or there is delivery we could pay with debit card on line. In this time when so many other business' have made it easier WHY NOT Winco read more

Stumbled on this place on a trip to Lewiston! Loved that its Employee owned! And so pleasantly surprised abt the great produce inc organic produce, the sheer amount of bulk bins!!! (Bagged amounts due to covid etc), the whole wheat bread choices (got this one called Naked--so fluffy and delicious!), they have huge packs of cereal! So much fun to shop. Feels a bit like Costco in the bulk way but doesnt require membership! Store saves money by not accepting credit cards and they have this double belt thing on each register so that one person can pack their stuff (no bagger) while next person is getting rung up! Just love love love it. So smart. And ppl there seem to genuinely love the store (one person said the store allows them to live like a human being..) read more
