There is a young woman who my child is absolutely obsessed with, as well as a young man who is extremely happy and thankful to be working, and if you come at the right time he might even be singing. I have been shopping at Raley's near daily since relocating to this side of town, mainly out of convenience. I had an encounter in this store this morning that was completely unacceptable and I will not be returning. I was in the self checkout lane, scanned my groceries and selected the pay now option which I have done hundreds of times. I then tapped my card and was directed on the screen to "please wait" and then began that dreaded "circle of death". I waited several minutes and then thinking the "pay now" button didn't work I pressed it again, and again and again - at least three times. Look folks, this was an EASY fix. When I called for help the guy snapped at me while pressing the "pay now" option that all I had to do was "press the button". I tried to explain that I had already done that several times but it didn't work which is why I called him over for help. He snapped again arguing with me that I couldn't have pressed the button and that's all I needed to do. Why did this matter? Why are you ARGUING with a customer? Why are you trying to make me look and feel stupid when that is NOT necessary! He continued arguing with me and me repeatedly saying "I DID press the button it didn't work I called you for help not to get yelled at why are you arguing with me?" This was COMPLETELY unnecessary. I did speak with the manager who said he would address it, but this situation was completely avoidable and completely unnecessary. Be kind people, and when someone asks for help just help them don't make a big deal out of it. Customer lost now for good! read more

The service here has really gone down hill since Bill retired as manager. Except for the old school employees, the employees are distant, if engaging at all. Ordered a pickup order. No signs for where to park. Got a call with the rudest person who couldn't find my daughter's car and wanted her to come pick up the order inside so they wouldn't have to find her after she was already parked in the correct space after trying to find it for several minutes. She then came out and was rude to her as well. Called the manager to complain and she wasn't much better than the associate. If I'm in Redding and need groceries, this Raley's is the best place to come. I really like the meat department. They have sales on meat that aren't in the weekly flyer, so what I like to do is browse the meat counter to see if there are any good deals or cuts that you don't see normally. This time I found some thick cut rib eye bone in chops for get this ... $1.97 a pound! Hardly any pork is that price. My receipt says I saved almost 60% off regular price. Now THAT"S a deal! I just wish I found this deal earlier and bought more of them. It was the last day of the sale. Cooked them at home on the gas BBQ, just a little seasonings and on the grill ... simple. They tasted terrific, juicy and a nice pork flavor. If you're in Raleys, just check out the meat counter for some killer deals ... not every week but they do happen. read more

Most of the staff at the Raley's in Redding, CA are very nice, with the exception of one checker who is consistently rude. Store usually has stuff in stock, with the exception of half and half. Never in stock and if it is, the date is two days out. This store definitely needs a remodel, looks like it's from 1980. Works or me since it's close, but I would not recommend this store. read more

Today we stopped by Raley's for the very first time. The store had lots of fresh food with a great deli counter and a fabulous produce section. The prices were reasonable with the app that we were encouraged to download upon entering the store. Dave at the deli counter gave us great service and made sure that we had everything we needed. Although the store is older it is quite clean, well organized and very nicely stocked. There is a Peet's Coffee Bar inside, the meat counter had plenty of great options, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back! read more

Well shopped here well over 30 years. Always didn't mind paying higher k prices because loved the store and quality and mostly the service. However over the last 5 or so years it has continued to go downhill. No service at all! Went in the morning. Just back from a long trip. It was all downhill: Meat looked brown and was super high$$. Pack of Salami was a brown color. I pointed it out to a gal stocking the bologna and she just looked at me ? They were obviously old. And can see why because price was very high for that brand. . A small pack of hamburger was $ 8.99 a pound. Yes 8.99 per pound! For the 20/80 fat. That I buy elsewhere for $4.99 Then digital coupon were a nightmare. Use to just put your phone number in and got the member discount. Get ready to check out with a large basket of items and no checkers. Only one ( manager?) At front watching self checkers. And one opposite end playing with her cell phone. I asked her if they were opening a checkout and she replied " no, she wants the customers to do self checkout only. I simply replied no, I have to much to do a self checkout lots of veggies and fruit which are a pain in self checkout. So the manager finally opened a checkout ( didn't seem very happy) and checked me out. All done and the computer crashed it took 20 or more minutes to get it to work. ( crashes last two times in there ). When I finally got outside an older gentleman that was having trouble with the self checkout approached me. He was very upset. Said he has shopped at Raleys for years and not only the prices are outrageous but the service is horrible and the same cranky lady just stands there instead of putting workers on a checkout. He said he stood and waited 15 minutes to get something from the deli counter. Well I know for sure I will never go back. After years of being a loyal customer I'm done. The sweet man and his wife said same for them. Like me, they will drive across town from now on. What a shame to see this once bustling business deteriorate. Lack of good management and putting the $ before the customer. Prices on some items are almost double. That and probably the worst customer service of any grocery store. read more

I've been a faithful shopper of Raley's for many years. When I moved to this area I was shocked and disappointed at this particular store, but out of habit and love for the company I've continued to shop here. Each time I went I was left frustrated and feeling like I was a bother to the cashier. Once, I had a cashier complaining to me that she gets in trouble for not taking a break on time and she left me standing at the register. I had to walk around and get my bags from the counter and put them in my cart... she was gone. I swore that was it. Yet here I was today looking for punishment by once again running in here for a few items. I picked up some "manager specials" that were advertised with sale signs in front of the product. Imagine my surprise when I find out I have to have a digital coupon to receive that price. What!? So now not only do I have to have a number to receive Raley's everyday high prices.. now I have to take the extra effort to 'clip' digital coupons!? Nope. I will have to try and find another company and store. So I guess it's goodbye to my over 30 year relationship with Raley's and BelAir. read more

I had the most amazing experience shopping at this store during my Thanksgiving vacation. I went in the morning of and was dreading lines and grumpy people. When I walked into the store they were playing great music, and all the staff were singing and having a blast. The customer service here was impeccable. I have a HUGE shout out to the Produce Manager. He was so very kind and helpful and made my Thanksgiving that much better. This location definitely gets four stars for me! We are always super excited to walk into this location. Every time we go to this location all of the items that we are looking for are in the exact location where we need them. Plus the milk at this location is not always expired. I hate when I go to the location across town and the milk that they have is often expired. That drives me absolutely crazy. I pay all this money to come in to your grocery store and you cannot even provide me with milk that is not expired. Completely unacceptable! Luckily, this location does not have that issue at all. Also the eggs at this location or not cracked. They are absolutely delicious when me and my family get them home we love to eat all of them. The staff that works here is super friendly as well. They are always very helpful. My wife loves going to this location because the carts that they have are clean. I hate when I go to Walmart, target, or other big box department stores and their carts are dirty and you do not even feel comfortable putting your children inside the cart. This location definitely does not have that problem at all. All of the cards are super clean and my son who was only three years old can sit in the cards with no problem. He loves to get up on the cards and bounce around and be a kid and play on them and we try to prevent him from doing that because of Covid issues but we do feel safe allow him to do it at this location They have tons of great food as well and me and my family love to buy the juice that they have. I've been in other Raley's and they always are fine. This store however left a lot to be desired. The merchandise seemed uncared for to me, we were looking for dinner to take back to our hotel room so we went to the pre-made sandwiches, salads and soups the selection was not good. The sandwiches & pre-made salads looked like they had seen better days..seriously days not hours. we selected a Raley's soup instead and some store rolls. The soup was watery and the rolls were bland. We tried to locate spoons to use with the soup, nope we had to buy a package of spoons in order to eat the soup in our hotel room. This was the first grocery store I ever got lost in. I still remember the sense of panic setting in realizing I couldn't find my mom. I learned an important lesson about self reliance that day, and I also developed a terrible anxiety disorder I still live with to this day. But now when I can't find my mom, I can just text her. But today, I have one of the most unfortunate experiences. Halfway though my salad I found a DEAD LADYBUG in my salad. Make us wear masks...staff too but stood right next to a produce stocker who had his down on his chin then sneezed right into the produce - no attempt to cover his face. Then, at checkout, they won't provide free bags so if you want to use your own they want you to unload your cart for them to scan, then let them put the stuff BACK into your cart for you to get out of their way and bag it yourself. Sorry, ain't doing that. And, I should also note that the last few Saturday mornings (9:30 ish) they were restocking shelves and had many aisles piled with so many boxes you couldn't even get your cart through them. read more

That being said, just the other day I was shopping at the Raley's Supermarket on Lake Blvd. in Redding CA, when I encountered an employee in the deli who was genuinely happy, helpful, and polite. Clint took my phone call and listened to my problem, instead of saying "we don't have that" he sat on the phone and offered a solution that was absolutely perfect. So I'm just strolling though Raley's picking up dinner for the family when I get a text that I'm supposed to bring a meat and cheese tray for an event tomorrow. I asked an employee in the deli if they had any that were already made but since it was the end of the day they were sold out. Maria in the deli overheard the conversation and jumped in and offered to make one - even though she was scheduled to be off in just a minute, she stayed late to make this tray for me. It's not often that you encounter somebody so willing to go the extra mile and provide awesome customer service like that! Bonus - there were free vodka samples while I waited. T Hey are all so helpful if you are looking for something they tell you where to find it & then take you to it! Their displays are great! The young lady Maria in the deli is awesome! I love this store and the people that work there. But I can't for the life of me understand why people are allowed to bring their dogs (that are not actual certified service animals) in here! It is disgusting and unsanitary. Every few trips I make here, there is usually someone who has a little dog walking around, sniffing things. They are clearly NOT certified service animals. From what I understand, store employees are seriously unclear on what types of animals are allowed in their store. Do emotional support animals qualify? I don't know. But it is just sad that someone with a dog in a store is more important than someone (myself and others) who has been a loyal customer here for nearly twenty years. This is a potential health hazard. The last two times I came to this market I saw employees stocking shelves without wearing masks and about 25 percent of the customers were wandering around unprotected as well. We feel lucky that this is our neighborhood store. They have a good deli and bakery. We like the chicken strips, potato wedges and sandwiches. They have a good selection, and also carry local items. Their beer selection is very good as well! They offer fruit for the kids at the door for free. My daughter LOVES it and is so much happier now while shopping here. read more

Raley's offers a greater variety of goods than other grocery stores, but it is also more expensive than them as well. The employees are always really helpful and friendly though and the store is always organized and clean. However, this five-star rating is only for the reason I come to Raley's almost once every week--for their great bakery and, most importantly, for their monstrous cinnamon rolls! These babies are my favorite in Redding, and you can get three giant ones in a pack for only $3.50 ($2.99 when it's on sale). These cinnamon rolls are slathered with a large helping of their gooey, delicious cream cheese frosting--just the way cinna rolls should be and the reason why I love them! I've never eaten one without baking it a little in the toaster oven; that is the best way to get the frosting to spread into all the nooks and crannies and create a cinnamon gooeyness inside. The Raley's cinna rolls at Hartnell are much smaller and dinkier than the ones at the Lake Blvd. Raley's so go to the Lake Blvd. one if you dare to buy these dangerous goodies.
