Raley's used to be a clean and good store to go in. Now you have homeless when it rains all along the store front and also making camp out in the parking lot. The store is filthy inside and outside the store. The store is in Redding on Lake Blvd. read more

I shop here frequently because it is convient. Their prices are higher, but they have great sales, the best deli and good produce. I can get special items here that I can't get other places. The customer service has a lot to be desired though. I have had a deli person be snarky with me, I have had to wait in line a long time because an employee was chit chatting with another customer. (uh, call for help perhaps????) and tonights experience was the last straw. I purchased something and was double charged. The store was quite busy, unusually so so I had to wait in line for quite a while. In order to get the error rectified I had to wait in another line. OK, I get that people make mistakes, we all do and I really wasn't upset about it. Mildly annoyed, and I mentioned that it seemed silly for me to have to wait in line twice, but I was not upset. It was at that time that I discovered not only was I charged twice, but overcharged for the original item. The employee kept arguing with me about the original price. She kept it up and then said "I don't mean to make you mad..." Well, the best way to not make a customer mad is to not argue with them. She either could have gone to check on the item I was talking about, or taken my word for it at $1.25! It seems that their customer service has declined greatly in the last six months. This is sad because their prices are higher than most stores, so now where is the payoff? Looks like I will be heading across town. I know the customer service at the other store is equally good/bad but I won't be paying more for the same type of service. read more

Raley's, just lost one of their valuable customer. I refuse to spend almost $250/week for a family of four and to be humiliated by one of their RUDE staff. I was looking for grated parmesan cheese. I asked an older Caucasian gentleman (who was stocking cheeses at the time around 4-5(ish) pm) if he know where the grated parmesan cheese is. He let out a laugh, and say to me, " I didn't know that Farmer John made cheese." He repeats that a few times and was laughing until I say to him, "it was ok, no need to make fun of my pronunciation." As I walked away and look for the parmesan, I can still hear him laughing. He was rude, and make me feel unwelcome there as an Asian American. I wont be returning to shop at Raley's. read more

This location is absolute garbage. The shelves are always half stocked, they're always understaffed and the stuff in the deli looks like it's been sitting out for the last week. Supposedly it's because the GM is about to retire and just doesn't care anymore. All of the products are in places that make no sense they recently moved everything around in the attempt to make it make more sense but there is absolutely no excuse for it take me 45 minutes to find seven items. I live 2 minutes from this store and 10 minutes from any other grocery store but I would rather drive the extra 10 minutes because it's going to be faster to drive the extra 10 minutes each way and shop at store that makes sense then it would be to go to Raley's. read more

I've always enjoyed shopping at Raley's for their breads and wine. When in Redding, we found everything we needed for meals and today was some awesome tasting fried chicken from the deli. The service was helpful and friendly. I didn't think the take-a-number system was needed or easy to find though. The food is always good quality and the store was clean and neat. read more

I like the store and most employees are pretty friendly but this is for the deli counter. No one but no one will pick up their pace if there is any sort of line. I have completely sto pped going in there to grab a quick precooked meal around the 5 o'clock hour. Multiple times they are short staffed and completely oblivious to the multiple people waiting and waiting...There is one older gentleman who is usually there at that time and he literally shuffles around acting busy but is just really good at ignoring customers. They truly move at a snails pace and at the end of a long day I just don't have the time or patience for it. If they run out of an item in the hot counter someone disappears in the back for no less than 5 minutes. There may be only 3 employees working and everyone will make sandwiches (someone should be free for rest of the deli) and I'm not kidding when I say I've never seen anyone move like a pack of sloths. They do. When you have long lines, employees should stop stocking and help customers first. Period. read more

I was just reviewing the below reviews and am astonished to see a bad review on Kim. She has been gone for a few weeks and I know that my family and I miss her terribly. She goes out of her way to be kind, courteous and helpful every time we're in the store! Even if she's in the middle of helping us and gets interrupted she always helps whoever is in need with a smile! I have been shopping at this store for 20 years and I thing she is one of the best employees Raley's has. I can't believe due to someone not liking an individual they would attack them personally and try to diminish their livelihood! (Especially on social media.). Hang tough Kim! Really people, 5 stars? You cannot go to this store without being hit up by one of the many tweaking-panhandlers in the area. I do not feel safe heading to this store alone, day or night. Groceries are far overpriced for everyday items. The only pros in my opinion are the expensive yet well selected produce department and the health food section. read more

I come here quite often, but almost only for perishable foods. Yes, there are a lot of bums and Shasta Countiers loitering around the parking lot - especially after dark. This Raleys gets pretty crowded during the late morning to late afternoons - usually with senior citizens - but there are few shoppers between 8:00 to 10:00 PM. That said, Raleys has great prices for USDA choice beef. The pork and poultry is also of good quality and frequently at great sale prices. The produce department is priced above average for the most part, but the selection is very good for a market this size. I recommend buying seasonal and during sales. The produce quality is above the echelons of Safeway or Winco, though I have bought some less-than fresh produce that appeared good at quick glance. You should take your time to pick out the best. The cheeses and other dairy selection is good, but prices far exceed equal or better dairy groceries from Trader Joes. I've never bought from the deli, but it doesn't strike me as being an improvement on Safeway's deli. Regular, non-perishable groceries are too expensive for the most part. I recommend buying non-perishable goods here when they are on sale - if you don't already get them somewhere else. The organic section is great for a supermarket, but Orchard Nutrition on Locust St has more natural-food options at equal or better prices. The bulk-food aisle at Raley's is disappointing compared to Winco, but there are some good buys in there during sales. Overall, Raleys is a good option for meats and produce and usually too expensive for dairy and non-perishable groceries. read more

This is by far the BEST grocery store in Redding! They have a huge selection, nice people, the store is very clean, the deli is aweseome, and they have a dedicated section of organic and healthy foods that is second to none except for maybe Trader Joe's. I highly recommend Raleys, it is my go-to grocery store since I moved down the hill from Shingletown to Redding. read more

Two complaints, last night around 6pm you know when people are headed home from work. 3 lanes open, not including self check out. Tons of people in line, except for in self check out where there was no one, except for the manager Kathy standing there doing absolutely nothing as usual, except looking like she was weened on a rotten dill pickle. Why can all the male managers jump in and open a register yet she stands there and glares and holds up the counter? She is the most unapproachable person ever. And if I wanted to ring up my own groceries, I'd work in a grocery store. Second, again people get off work between 5 and 6pm sometimes they'd like to have deli chicken and not have to wait the 20 to 30 minutes for it and potatoes to be cooked. Seriously plan ahead for the busy times. This is getting ridiculous. read more

I live local to this Raley's and it is by far one of the best grocery stores I have ever been to. It is always clean, the checkers are always nice, it is not uncommon to be approached in the aisles by an employee eager to help you find something, the bathroom is always clean. This Raley's is an exceptionally well run store. As a bonus, they also have some decent microbrews. The deli area is a nice area to sit and have a bit to eat, and their Latte's are better than many. read more

My fiance and I came in from out of state, and the store looked a bit questionable on outward appearance alone. I'm so glad we went in because we had been driving all day and needed a personable pick-me-up, which is exactly what we got from Stephen in the deli. This probably sounds like it was written by his grandmother, but that kid was so incredibly kind and uplifting! His work ethic and effort were great to see from such a young man, but the main take-away was his genuine niceness. We hope Stephen gets a promotion soon because he's got his head in the right place. Everyone else seemed very kind and engaging as well, and we were pleasantly surprised by the large selection of items overall, but the amount of quality, organic, and healthy items were a pleasant surprise as well. We wish we could've filled out a comment card in person to give major props to Stephen and the gang, but those weren't available sadly. This supermarket makes essential shopping while heavily pregnant in the furnace that is downtown Redding in August more pleasant than it should possibly be. The instant you walk in it's like a relaxing refuge. The music is wonderful. The food choices are healthy and affordable, organic clearly labeled. The staff are HAPPY to be working there and it shows, they make genuine conversation, smile sincerely, and have great eyes for tidying the store such as restoring items to their proper location that customers misshelved. The flower section is to die for. I did not need flowers but left inspired to gift everyone I knew lol. I left with a great selection of the healthiest feel good food and feeling uplifted, like I was truly seen by those young cashiers and that because of the care in helping me bag and load my groceries I had strength to tackle the rest of the day's duties. The only reason I wouldn't give them five stars is because the prices are somewhat high, but they do match the prices in certain areas. This store consistently skips putting items I've paid for into my bags. It happens often enough that I've stopped shopping here as often as I used to. Today I was lured in by an email showing their St Patrick's Day sales. I am preparing a St Pats Day meal for my family, so I drove way across town for the sale. The checker was kind of rude. I asked how I could use my rewards cash and he told me I had to do it online. I'm not sure how that could be true, but didn't feel like making an issue of it. So I get home with my bags of groceries, start cooking for my family and want to enjoy a simple pleasure - a Guinness beer on St. Patrick's day. Then I realize that after unpacking my groceries there was no Guinness. I go out to see if it was left in the car. No. It's nowhere to be found. Well, sadly it was found on my receipt. It was paid for, but not put in my cart. Thanks for nothing Raleys. When I called the store they would not bring me the item I paid for but was not given. They wanted me to use my time, gas, car etc. to retrieve the item their negligence did not deliver. Again, this has happened often enough that I am sure it must be a corporate method of increasing profits. After haggling, the manager said he would send payment for the item. I frequent this store for our family, and sometimes use my Women Infant & Children (WIC) checks for my foster children. If you're a foster parent in CA for children ages 0-5, you are provided with monthly WIC food checks. This is very different than food stamps, for those of you who aren't aware. Today, like many other days, I used the WIC checks. When I pulled my basket up, the female checker looked down at my WIC vouchers in the cart, got an annoyed look on her face and then decided she was not going to acknowledge me. At all. So, I have a master's degree and am an intelligent person. I have made many purchases at this store for regular-pay items and am always warmly greeted, or at the very least acknowledged. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have been treated like this at this particular store. It's discrimination at its finest. Shame on you for treating your foster parents as "less than", or anyone for that matter. read more

Watch out for their "new" check policy. I have been a customer for many years. Normally I would use a debit/credit card but I decided to write a check for a measly 138 dollars ( normally i spend closer to 200 dollars there). However because I had not written a lot of checks there they declined taking my check a all- with a valid ID,no extra money in the check- just to pay my bill. The cashier had to whisper to me- after the manager had left- that they had this new policy. After all she had seen me forever buying groceries there. Next step- call customer service who said it was too bad but since I had not written very many checks there that I should just start writing smaller checks and that eventually the system would recognize me. Emailing their customer service was no better who said the policy said up to 500 dollars valid ID, a small amount for extra cash- all were permitted which clearly did not jibe with both what their computer told the cashier nor the customer service person on the phone. This is a lousy way for Raleys to treat their customers- especially loyal, long-time customers. It will be easier to shop elsewhere than be embarrassed by a ridiculous policy that isn't even consistently narrated or used. read more
