Being the only African American and used to city life of Oakland, moving here was different. I quickly adapted to the warm friendly love around here. People actually wave to each other when your passing by. What just took the cake was going to that country store. Never have I been to a store that made me feel like family. They even remember my name the 3rd time I came. Mike and Eunice are amazing people. I feel like family because when I pull up to the gas pump they turn it on for me to get gas, then I walk in the store and pay. Nobody does that!! Oak Run Country Store is the back bone of this beautiful community. P.S if you haven't tried a bacon cheese burger & fries yet you are soooooo missing out. Get a strawberry banana milkshake too. What I delightful stop this turned out to be. I was trying to get a feel for a town of my ancestors; this store appears to be the only business in the whole area. I pulled into the parking lot and the two women sitting under a refreshing water sprayer asked me if I was lost. When I told them why I was there they were very interested in my research and they knew one of the names on my Oak Run list and told be where the old school house, now a private residence was and gave me the number of the local historian The store itself was clean, a nice dog was the greeter, and everyone was very friendly. I suspect that I was a bit of an oddity. Although there is very old cemetery I doubt anyone comes to Oak Run to sightsee or conjure up their ancestors read more

Dedicated owners and seriously...the best burgers! Onion rings, jalapeno poppers fried zucchini and mozzarella cheese sticks...yummmm! Store is very well stocked and the owners are the best...helpful, friendly, staff is awesome. It's a local meeting place for many. I moved to Redding from Oak Run in July and so miss the burgers and all the special people I met there. It's a wonderful hidden local place that is a must. The grill is open Fri-Sun. read more

I live less than a mile from the Oak Run Store and I love having it so close. The gas prices are indeed very close to the prices in town. This makes it so much easier on us. Also, it is exciting to go in and visit with Mike or Eunice. They are always friendly and have so many things you could think of to purchase there. I am always running out of eggs and needing them. The cheeseburgers and fries are just as delicious as In N Out and there are many other tasty selections to be found. read more

This review is about, well, everything that makes this little country store a gem. I think Michael M's review says it all. Mike and Eunice are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They keep the store stocked with what the area needs when you don't want to take the long run to Redding. But what is a real treat, is the little burger shop inside side that puts out a perfect burger and fries every Friday thru Sunday, that is a real treat for us hillbillies. So, even if you're from somewhere else, you should take the beautiful drive up to the oak run country store and order a burger and sit at the picnic table in the shade and watch our little world go by. read more

I am giving this store three stars because the clerk was very friendly and the store seemed pretty clean and well stocked. We stopped there so I could get us a snack and use a restroom. To be fair, there was a sign stating no public bathroom. However, most businesses still have customer bathrooms. Well, I was a customer so I went inside. When I asked, I was told that due to COVID, they had no restroom I could use. Unfortunately I had consumed quite a bit of liquid and really needed to use the restroom. I was frustrated, but still purchased my snacks. Usually, I refuse to make a purchase at a store that refuses to allow such simple services for their customers. But the guy was friendly, I know stores are hurting for customers, so I made the simple purchase and left. I mean, they can't help this COVID thing. Then I researched. Where did the CDC or State of California say, businesses can't allow the public to use their bathrooms. It doesn't. It does say they must be cleaned or sanitized. But my goodness a quick sweep of a paper towel and some Lysol would do the trick. Heck I was desperate, and would have sanitized it myself. Businesses that keep using the COVID excuse for denying customers basic services like using a restroom seem lazy and they are going to lose more business. While I am definitely not a regular, I would not recommend this store either. read more

I live in the nearby town of Whitmore and am completely jealous that we do not have anything remotely close to the Oak Run Country Store,. To start with they sell gas at prices nearing those of stores in bigger towns that are not so remote. Next...On Fridays and Saturdays, they offer a truly wonderful burger that has all the fixin's and a half a pound of beef (if you are feeling adventurous you can get a double with 1 pound of beef). The owners, a husband and wife combo, are simply delightful and are as friendly as the day is long. Not the robotic " have a nice day" that you get from other stores, but truly sincere conversation. This experience is what I expect from small town stores that cannot compete with price based on volume. I have been going to this store for over five years and have never had a bad experience there. As a matter of fact, one time I forgot my wallet after I had driven the ten miles to get there in order to get some emergency plumbing parts (yes they keep a wide variety of those too!) and the owner told me not to worry about it and to bring the money the next time I came by. Try to get that kind of service at the Home Depot. In this economy small businesses are struggling to stay afloat. I certainly hope this review will encourage others to support this business that truly is the epitome of what a small business should look like read more

I live in Central Point, oregon and my parents live in Oak Run. I stop by once in awhile and when I do I always stop by the Oak Run Store. They are wonderful and makes me feel like I matter. Prices are good, gas prices are good, But the service is the best you will ever find! I will stop by to say hi everytime I am in town! read more
