My visit on Aug 12th was not good. I was double charged on my groceries and had proof of charges, yet the store manager would not fix the problem. They seem to have added adult supervision after losing the manager months ago. That is a good sign, but they still need to fix their store management network. I was originally charged full price for all my items even after I entered my phone number on the keypad. The checker entered my phone number, and I got discounted to 'member pricing', but NOT the forU pricing, even though I had scanned the forU barcodes on the shelf and clipped those items. I was hoping that help with the bagging of groceries had changed, and that I wasn't going to have to do all the heavy lifting myself. It looks like that was a one-time thing where the employees actually offered any help. I'm elderly, and have to lift heavy things into the cart, onto the counter, back into the cart, into my car, and then into my house. I thought a grocery store would be able to at least lift them into my cart from the counter. They don't have enough employees to do this, I guess. I'm going to have to start buying my groceries with the weight in mind. Otherwise, it's just too much for me to lift anymore. And what happened to offering help to your car. A thing of the past, I guess. Obviously, none of the employees are old enough to have any empathy for seniors. read more

I went to every store in town and nobody had the peppermint candy canes so last minute I called Safeway to see if they had any left and I was greeted by a woman named Nicole in customer service and she definitely gets an A+! I mean, how random is it for somebody to call and ask if they have candy canes, but in my situation I was sending somebody to pick them up for me. I apologized for calling and she was so sweet. Her response was no it's totally OK 'tis the season! Some might not think that was doing very much, but to me it was and I just want her to know how much I appreciate her and I hope that her manager sees this review because she definitely belongs in customer service! Such a sweetheart! Thank you Nicole you made our Christmas so much better having the traditional candy canes and putting a couple boxes away for me to come and pick up! Went here when there were still COVID restrictions, seen most people still walking around without mask. No issues and no one ever walked to another person stating they needed to wear mask. This is a smaller Safeway, didn't have most of the usual stuff I find at Safeway and not the same inventory too. read more

This Safeway is a bit smaller than most, but it carries the essentials and it's workers all seemed friendly and helpful. They also have a restroom in the back. Overall they keep everything clean and well stocked. read more

I've commented in the recent past that there weren't enough employees to bag the groceries since I'm elderly, and have trouble doing this. The past two times I've been in the store, the checker has been great about making sure my needs are met. He asks if my groceries need to be separated, and how heavy I want the bags, and if I need help to my car. I haven't had to lift anything heavy while in the store. Very friendly and considerate. I hope this great service continues. read more

Went here while on a camping trip. If you're Asian or with a group of Asians, I'd watch your back! Employees and locals aren't the friendliest towards Asians. Overheard a local resident telling an employee she felt like she was in an Asian market (employee agreed with her), plus a "This is America where we speak English and eat steak" bumper sticker on a car, and some weird stares. read more

Due to embarrassingly inaccurate assumptions on my part, I was surprised at how similar the stocked shelves in the Burney Safeway looked to my home store in Santa Rosa. And their prices seemed to be pretty close too! I spoke with a very helpful head clerk, Linda Sue. Not only did she take the time to help me with my store questions, I ventured into questions about restaurants. Not being from the area, I wanted to know restaurants that might accommodate a gluten allergy. She had some helpful suggestions. Thank you! read more

I'm not sure why people posted that this was an unfriendly store. I found it extremely friendly. Stacy in produce helped me When someone accidentally took my cart instead of their own. We were camping in Hat Creek and I needed a special firefighter cake for my son. I called and was told they no longer did decorated cakes. The assistant store manager Eric offered to drive a cake up from the Redding store and Jeannie in bakery decorated it for us. It was a beautiful cake and delicious!! They went above and beyond for us and we didn't even ask them to. Awesome job!!! read more

Safeway offers grocery variety for the small village Burney & jobs for locals. The products are very expensive & not always high quality. Dairy products are expensive with short expiration dates such as milk, egg, & yogurt. Last time I bought Greek yogurt & I found it was expired while eating it. Fruits & vegetables are extremely expensive without having something special in their quality. Cashiers are very slow & at least 10 minutes to check you out. Some are rude & lack good customer service. Last time they didn't bag my grocery. I asked them to bag the grocery for me, they refused. The new guy has no common sense but scary fast. He walks very fast & can run you over. Grasp Safeway card from you, like taking a gun from your hands. He needs to take a deep breath. If there are other choices in that small village , I would not go there at all. read more

everything seems to be a bit more spendy in burney due to it's location. as is the case with this Safeway. Besides the price, the produce is always good here and the deli makes great sandwiches. much better sammys than subway. read more
