I wish I could give a 0 star to their bakery, I placed an order for a gender reveal cake 4/5 days in advance and when I showed up the day of ( at 1pm when my cake was supposed to be ready) they said they didnt do it because they forgot and were "backed up" so decided to make my cake within 30 minutes. They didnt freeze my cake they didnt take their time they rushed it because they messed up and cant prioritize. When I got to my gender reveal and opened the box my cake had fallen completely apart in the box and ruined my gender reveal because it was warm. I was treated like I was stealing from Safeway the security guard followed me through the store and asked me if I was gonna pay for the items in my cart then the security guard said I looked suspicious to him .I spend anywhere from $40 to $60 daily there on food lunch for work . The short , small older woman in the deli is terrible Customer Service with a bad attitude. Just nasty foul. the Asian woman working in the deli is great. Ruth in the meat department is wonderful. But overall, we just don't shop there anymore except for special deals that are very hit and miss with their digital coupon set up. read more

The cake and filling were excellent. It was not decorated the way I had ordered. I had uploaded an image to be placed on the cake. My order confirmation showed the image on a decorated cake, however the cake was left blank in the area for the image. I called and talked to the decorator the next day who was going to investigate. She never gave me a call back. Make sure you check your cake before leaving the store. read more

The store has what I want and the staff are friendly.the problem, no one is enforcing the covid-19 safety precautions. Almost 100% of the customers are without masks. The meat department manager was without a mask while handling and serving raw meat. read more

If I could put zero stars I would. Today before noon I walked into Safeway while the employees were smoking by the entrance of the store as I see people walking in with there children. Then as went to the hot food area because I wanted to order something fresh the gentleman was working on the sushi told us hello then told an older lady who looked at us as we were standing there then proceeded to continue to clean (the lady who is in charge of the food ) she told the gentleman and us that she is busy cleaning at the moment and unable to help us and so we waited a bit longer and she continued to ignore us and clean so we got Starbucks instead ( the Starbucks young lady ) was very kind and super friendly. But crazy that someone who works in the food area as her job tell us she can't help us due to she is cleaning! Also it was not even the area of the sandwich area it was like she was pretending so she didn't have to help us. We wanted to report this to management but we were in a hurry. read more

If you like to stand in the checkout line and twiddle your thumbs for 15 minutes, this is your place to shop. Rarely do they have enough check stands open. Rarely do they have enough clerks to bag up your groceries. Management doesn't care about customer service at all. I'll have to start shopping at Holiday Market more often. The waits are short and you never have to bag your groceries. Thank goodness that there are a few businesses in Redding that make it a priority to make sure their customers have pleasant shopping experiences. One star is an "F" in my book. I ordered a cake from here, talked to an older lady and she ensured me that my cake would be ready by my pickup day and time. I go at pick up day and time and no one is there besides a guy collecting garbage. He checks all over for my cake but says there is no cake. It was very disappointing. He did offer a free small cake, but it was not the size I expected. I know it wasn't his fault, but I will not be returning to order a cake from here again. read more

This review is for the west side Safeway market and cypress. My bought a Strawberry Boston today and we were celebrating and when we tried the dessert we had white berries that weren't ripe and they had the strawberry glaze over top so they didn't look white. Had anybody known the strawberries were white I think we'd have passed. this seems a bit shady to me but nonetheless it isn't good customer service. if a customer buys a dessert it should be made with proper fruit. read more

Cypress, I called them and told the guy in the meat department that I would be driving from Anderson, I asked if they had filet, he quickly said "YES" I also asked if they had enough to feed 6, "YES" also do you have the little green propane canister, "YES" I drove ALL THE WAY UP THERE! no filet, ran out this morning! I've been to Safeway's in Anderson, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Rancho Cordova, Sacramento, Lake Forrest, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, San Clemente, the list goes on. Out of every store I have ever visited, this one here on Cypress is my favorite. The reason resides with the employees. They care about their guests, they care about their product. Today was Thanksgiving and I need to swing by the store to pick up a few things. A gentlemen (manager I presume) had been helping me with a coupon when a lady came up to him, cut me off, and screamed at him "where is the velveta cheese?!?" He calmly responded by directing her to where it was. Again she snapped "VELLL-VEEEE-TUUUUH!" (I was shocked, was this a reality show or something?) he again, kept his composure and made every effort to show her where she could find the cheese. She walked away and found her cheese. The guy shrugged it off and said he gets all sorts of customers. But still made no effort to talk badly about the woman. I respected that. Drug users, thieves, and mentally challenged people frequent these Safeways every single day and I think the very least thing we can do as customers is put our carts away. These employees are being paid too little to be doing a job that can be very hectic. When I see 10 shopping carts scattered across the lot, it bums me out. How hard is it to put it back? Delivery service in Redding is through Door Dash. Two days ago we ordered through Safeway website with a delivery window of 5-7 PM. Delivery was 1 hour late and only a potion of our order was dropped off. We called and after much time waiting on the phone, numerous repetitions of the problem, got Safeway to arrange to have the rest of our order delivered this morning from 8-10 AM. We still do not have the rest of our order. Contrast this to the delivery when we lived in San Jose and delivery was through Instacart - we never had any problems. Beware: the homeless dictate policy here. My husband was at Lowe's, so I went shopping. As I was going back to our vehicle with a full cart of groceries in 90° heat, I passed the "yellow line", where my carts front wheel was locked down by a "boot". Making it impossible to move. Seriously?!? Ridiculous that 100+ homeless people in a town of 100K citizens dictate policy. Why not have the police do their job and arrest those who steal the carts, and not punish the law-abiding customers? Stupid, stupid, stupid. read more

I was recently looking for a black forest cake as it is a friends favorite, and her birthday is coming up. I tried Raleys first and after about 30 rings someone answered. She did not know when they would get one in, and besides would not take an order over the phone. I called Safeway, yes they could bake one on site, and took my order over the phone. Safeway answered in about 4 rings, and was helpful and friendly. Raleys good advertisement to search elsewhere. Not friendly or helpful. read more

Wow the worst customer service. Three workers at the cash register but no one at the customer service. After asking one of the people at the cash register if we could get some help, one of the lady responded very rudely with, "no, they are on lunch you will just have to wait". We then ask them if she could help us she responded rudely again, "no, you will just have to wait, they deserve to take a lunch". Not sure who is the manager is but customers is what brings profit to the store and having employees that simply is disrespectful towards customers dont deserve our business. If I could give less the 1 star I would. The cashier Roxann at this Safeway was TERRIBLE to me on Friday 03-27-20. I was told if I was wanting something that was in a locked cabinet to go to a register, tell them what you want and they will have someone get it for you. I told her what I wanted, she rolled her eyes and said is that really essential right now??! And started yelling throughout the store that "I need someone to unlock the booze cabinet for this girl!" multiple times with the store being packed with people. Finally someone with keys came over and she also gave me guff for wanting the alcohol cabinet unlocked. I understand alcohol isn't essential, a lot of things that are being bought aren't essential right now. It made me feel very small and I was very very uncomfortable. And while I had to stand there and wait with the cashier Roxann while she went to go get the item, she was huffing and puffing with annoyance and kept tapping something on the counter over and over again. The worst Safeway I have ever shopped in. The store is dirty, the checkout lines are are long, but few cashiers on duty. The lack of cashiers is an ongoing problem, when I talk to locals. No one in Redding has a good thing to say about this store. There is a good reason why many here refer to this store as, the unsafe Safeway........serious problems with homeless & drunks. read more

This is the greatest store. We had a death and I needed a last minute deli tray to help feed everyone who was coming to the house. Raley's wouldn't even consider my request. Nicole at the Deli Department said give me 1.5 hours and we will get one together and then even acknowledged her sentiments. They were so awesome to do this at the last minute. read more

Bringing in Boars Head is a game changer in a great way. As a new resident and long time fan of BH, I was disappointed with the deli departments of every store here (even Holiday that did carry some BH). This puts Safeway straight to the top. read more
