This is my favorite trader joes because it has a large parking lot. It can get super busy on the weekends but they have a good selection of produce and groceries. TJ's is much cheaper than Vons and Whole Foods and the checkers are always friendly and efficient. Anytime I get a recipe from Food Network, this is the first place I go to for affordable ingredients. Today was a total nightmare. I had my wallet stolen at Trader Joe's Hastings Ranch store. When I went through the checkout line, I could not find my wallet. So I went out to my car thinking it fell out in the car, etc. - no such luck!! After retracing my steps, I thought it best to go to my bank which is Chase in Sierra Madre. I had the nicest most competent lady help me. We got all my cards cancelled. However, within a few minutes they tried to get $3,000.00 out of my Chase account, $1,000.00 out of my Target card. Fortunately, they had no luck. Still up in the air about my LL Bean Visa which it appears to have gotten $2,000.00. The lady at Chase told me that Trader Joe's Hastings Ranch and Pet Smart get hit a lot. Probably the reason being is Trader Joe's have no security cameras. I was told that corporate doesn't want them. They trust their customers and want the feel of a neighborhood store. Isn't that sweet. I got all choked up on that one. Did tell the girl that it's a different world today and may e TJ's should reconsider. The manager I talked to claimed he wasn't aware of any problems with theft/pick pocketing, etc. Oh puhleez!!! I LOVE Trader Joe's. I swear, I could live on only things bought here and be a happy, happy woman. I frequent TJ's at most five times a week, at least once a week, in various cities across L. A. Whether its the ingredients for a family meal you're shopping for, or just picking up a quick bite for lunch, you'll find something fresh, delicious, (relatively) healthy, amazing, and unique to satisfy your need. My staples from Trader Joe's are the fresh salad fixings (bagged organic baby spinach, organic baby lettuce, organic tomatoes, organic baby carrots, English cucumber, etc.), ready-to-eat meats to go on the salads, their pre-fixed salads (the Reduced Guilt Asian Chicken is my fav!), their multi-grain fiber bread, their natural peanut butter, their reduced-sugar strawberry jelly, their Fiberful fruit leather, their vast selection of nuts and dried fruit, their flat pretzels to dip in hummus, their garlic hummus, their Greek yogurt, their lime bubble water (AKA TJ's Sparkling Mineral Water), their sugar-free chocolate bars, the Reggiano Lambrusco sweet red wine, the rest of their organic produce... okay now I'm just going up and down the aisles in my head. You get the point - I love their products. The employees are always awesome and helpful no matter the location, and make the shopping experience that much better. The prices for produce can add up quickly, but you'll feel better because it's quality fruits & veggies. This review is brought to you by the letter 'C' I think I'm predisposed to dislike this place simply because so many people are SO passionate about this place. I wonder if I'd have a similar feeling about In-n-Out had I heard and seen how people flock to these places before I went there. I admit it, I'm a closet contrarian. I try not to be, and walking in to Trader Joe's, I wasn't. Strangely all the pertinent things about TJs start with the letter 'C' Cheap - damn, I saw some cheese that was half what I 'd seen it at Von's. Compactness - It's nice not to be overwhelmed and actually be able to find or not find what you want in less than an hour and without having some employee give a very blank stare when you ask for something (they actually smile here). On the hand, they have no room for a lot things too. Crowds - TJ's got 'em. Note to crowds - Shopping at TJ's (and Whole Foods for that matter) does not make you a better person. Growing all you own food in your backyard on the other hand . . . Creepy - This one goes out to the leering, slimy looking guy who insisted on molesting his girlfriend in front of the checkout The problem I guess isn't that TJ's is bad or low quality, its just not what I need. I cook - really cook, I'm not a gourmet chef, but I'm more likely to try and make a sauce than use one from a jar. So if you are looking for ingredients, TJ's will disappoint. I'll save my zealotry for elsewhere. That said, 8:30 on a Sunday night is a pretty mellow time to go to this one. read more

This is one of the few TJ's I've been to where the parking lot isn't dangerous. The store itself is your excellent reliable TJ's, with friendly and helpful staff and a great selection. This particular store seems bigger than some I've been to. Extra pluses are that on weekday nights, they still have plenty of salads and things I know often sell out at other stores, AND their samples seem to be bigger and/or better than ones at other stores: a whole piece of orange cranberry coffee cake AND a whole piece of another kind? Yes please! A chocolate out of some fancy box? Yes please! Pecan pie WITH vanilla ice cream?! Yes please! I tend to go around 7pm, so maybe they lean toward dessert-oriented samples at that hour, but I will be the last person to complain. Check that; I will never complain about dessert samples. Parking lot is awful here but better than the TJ on San Gabriel Blvd. Shoppers walk in the middle of the parking lot where cars back out. Unless someone is desperate to wait for your parking space, it's hard to get out. Better to park further away and walk. If you hear a car with lights on or hear engine on, walk away from it cuz its driver may not see you. They don't give you a complimentary bag to put your groceries. I don't buy a paper bag. I only buy what I can carry which is about 2 to 3 items. I really like the $0.19 banana. You can buy one or two bananas. The food sample station is the same as other TJ. The TJ bottle water tastes OK. Its probably filtered tap local water. The dried fruits like dried cranberries and dried mangos are reasonablied price in a re-sealable bag, which is a great design. Not much to say, as most if not all Trader Joe's that I've been to are pretty awesome. This location is bigger than the other TJs around it, though there can be a bit more traffic in the parking lot (TONS of people walking around...why???) This Trader Joe's is probably my favorite location, even though there are others closer to my house. It's bigger that most of the stores in the Pasadena area, and it has tons of parking. I'm talking about you, TJs in South Pasadena and Arroyo! The store is well-stocked and has really friendly employees. Once, Baby C dropped a container of tomatoes on the floor. I rushed to pick up all of the tomatoes and mentally committed myself to buying the container and washing the tomatoes when I got home. An employees practically took eveything out of my hands (in a nice way) and said, "That's OK, I'll take care of this," and asked me to get a new one. That was totally unexpected and super nice. I LOVE TRADER JOE'S. I wish they would hire me to work at their corporate office in Monrovia. Dammit! If you're out there reading this.. I WANT TO WORK AT TJ's! Anyway, why do I love Trader Joe's? They have a great selection of produce, meats, cheeses, and dry goods. They serve coffee and food samples. The Soy Milk Creamer is unbelievable.. I am hooked. And the staff is ALWAYS, and I mean.. ALWAYS smiling. The most important reason why I love TJ's is because they buy directly from the source (whether it's a local farm or farms local to the region of the product being produced). This allows for a variety of products at affordable costs for the everyday consumer. On the flip side, their products will range from time to time and they may stop carrying a certain product resulting in many tears from their consumers. However, I believe in Trader Joe's philosophy and will always support their market. My dream job is to one day be a buyer or "culinary ambassador" as they put it and travel the world visiting local farms. Trader Joe's will always be my go-to local market. read more

I remember driving along on Rosemead a few years back, wondering what was to become of the building that this Trader Joe's now occupies. The first time I saw the banner "Coming Soon Trader Joe's," I let out a squeal that nearly scared my kid to death - NEVER a good thing to do when you're teaching them how to drive! I pass at least two other Trader Joe's locations on my way home from work - Arroyo Parkway and Lake/Del Mar - and actually have to drive east past my neighborhood in order to get to this one, but the ample parking makes it worth it. From time to time I've had a problem with perishable items (mostly meats) that are out of date but still on the shelves; not sure why that continues to happen here, but it does, and that's why they get 4/5 stars. Still, for the few times that I've had to take an item back, they were more than happy to offer a full refund or replacement. Since the supers went on strike a few years back, I find I do the majority of my food shopping at this location, and only stop at the larger stores if there is something I absolutely need that Trader Joe's doesn't have. Trader Joe's seems to be expanding its offerings to include more fresh fare so that you can make your own dish from scratch, but with our hectic household schedule, I sometimes don't mind the prepared stuff. At the very least the quality is good. A household TJ's favorite? The Multi-Grain Baking/Pancake Mix and the $0.99 eggs! With the money you save on those, you can afford to buy a big ole bottle of their organic maple syrup for $10.99! read more

OMG I wish yelp would let you leave negative stars. I would leave minus 5 gazillion stars if yelp would let me. For starters they have this totally totally awesome proseco for $6.99. Chad introduced me to it last summer. It is my go to everyday proseco. No it ain't Vueve, but it ain't $45 either. A glass stands just fine on its own and stands up great when using as a mixer for a French 75 or something similar. Next, they have the best challa anywhere. Thanks to Pam I found these gems of challa New Years 2014. I pick up a fresh challa every Friday for dinner and sometimes 2 in case the kids want challa French toast on Sat morn. Challa is I think $3.69. Lastly their vanilla ice cream is to die for. Bernard turned me onto it years ago. The big container is less than $5 bucks. There is a houtie toutie ice cream place a couple of blocks from there. A scoop costs $5.25. So at TJ's you get about 24 scoops of a better product for the price of one up the street. This year Jan 1, 2016 they had the utter audacity to allow their staff to take a day off. Here I was at the dawn of a new year and grossly needing my proseco, challa and ice cream for a complete Friday night dinner. Went to the store and they were shut up tighter than a loan officers wallet. I was forced to buy a California sparkling wine for double the price at a big booze retailer. I had to simply forgo the vanilla ice cream. I could not subject my precious offspring to the run of the mill ice cream available for 1.5x's more mullah at a grocery with some dudes first name. The final insult, the challa, I had to drive clear across town in traffic with all the mourning Iowans after they lost the Rose Bowl to obtain my manna. Again a slightly larger, much harder and drier challa for twice the price as I'm accustomed to paying. So all in all I must say they have awesome products, the fairest prices in town. A kick ask staff. The best return policy that empowers me to return crappy products any place else. (If I get something I don't like anyplace, I return it, if they give any flack, I state "You know Trader Joes Lets me try stuff and return it if I think it sucks, what's your problem?") ( Hmmm, maybe this is why I don't have any friends). I just can't believe they are not open all days at all times so i can get whatever I want whenever I get a bee in my bonnet and decide I want it now. I mean it's not my fault I did not get my challa, bubbles and ice cream the day before was it? I mean they could at least have called me and said "Mr. Robert, we are closed on the first so please get what you need by 6:00 on the 31st." We stopped by Trader Joe's today after having lunch at Robin's Wood Fire BBQ and Grill because it's sort of in the same parking lot. We needed a few items and were there, so we stopped in. Parking at this Trader Joe's is excellent. There is a lot of parking in the back of the store. Inside of the store, the decorating is exactly the same as any other Trader Joe's. The employees are wearing hawaiian shirts and there are chalkboard looking signs announcing the sales. However, one big difference with this Trader Joe's compared to others that I have visited is that the aisles are lot more wider. So, when the store is crowded (and it does get crowded) you can still get through an aisle without having to wait for the slow lady that has her kids running around. You'll be able to zoom by with more than enough space. There is a great selection of food at Trader Joe's. You can find almost everything that you need at the store, and the great thing is that most of the food comes directly from the source. Us "green" people love that =D One downside of Trader Joe's is that many of the products are a little more expensive than other grocery stores such as Ralphs and Albertsons. But, the quality is great and is sometimes worth a few more cents. I mentioned above that there are many products that are more expensive at Trader Joe's. Well, there is one thing that is cheaper... "2 Buck Chuck." What is "2 Buck Chuck" if you've never heard of it? Well, you can buy Charles Shaw Wine for only $1.99. My favorite is the White Zinfandel and we always have to get a bottle because it tastes great and is so cheap! Check out is usually very fast, even when the store is crowded. Every time I go to this location every check stand is open and wait time to checkout is very fast! The staff is always friendly and courteous. I love this Trader Joe's location. Great parking, wide aisle, great food, and there is always a large stock of 2 buck Chuck. The location gets four stars - I would give it 4.5, but that's not an option. The only reason it is not 5 stars is because of the more expensive prices for many products. read more

I love Trader Joes!! I love looking at all the cheeses... Oh yummy brie... The Greek yogurts here are so delicious. During the summer I would scoop some into a little container to eat while I waited for my astronomy class to start. I would buy the plain Greek yogurt and eat it with the honey my friend's dad 'processes'. 'Homemade/processed' honey with Greek yogurt---to die for! The beautiful flowers at this and the one on Lake [?]... If you're the creative type, you could totally make your own bouquet for whatever event. Birthday? Creative guys? Make one for you 'honey/baby/girlfriend/girl you're trying to impress/girl whose pants you are trying to get into/mother/boss lady/boyfriend/wife/husband/ect' or maybe girls for your 'honey/baby/boyfriend/boy you're trying to impress/boy whose pants you are trying to get into/mother/boss lady/boyfriend/wife/husband/ect' ... The chocolates. Recent one I've tried [recent as in November 2007] is the Trader Joes Dark Chocolate Caramels with Sea Salt. Mmm, perfectly thick dark chocolate walls encase a sweet, smooth with a hint or grain flowing caramel with pieces of sea salt. The sea salt really cuts through the sweetness of the caramel. My mom and I loved it, my boyfriend... not so much. He thought it was weird but then again, he doesn't like caramel. Of course, a perrenial favorite would be the Truffles. When I went to Hong Kong, we brought a bunch of the truffles as gifts and man, oh man... The little boy, whose parents' place we stayed at, LOVED it! He was so cute with chocolate all over his lips.... Think of Chicken Little in a human form and Asian. He looked sooo much like chicken little!! Pouty lips, round eyes, glasses, even hair that was reminiscent of that red thing on Chicken Little... So cute... Oh sorry, I sidetracked... This is a review on TJs, not little kids Anyways, the wine selection, according to my mother, isn't bad either. The chips are interesting. The staff at all TJs I've gone to are all pretty friendly. The pasta section, my love! I recently tried the chive and spinach pasta... Was it those two ingrediants? Actually, can't remember right now and too darn lazy to check the last bag... Well, it's green fettucini size pasta. My favorite sauce is the Organic Marinara sauce. Love it!!! Oh please... I really hope they open up a TJ in Monterey Park. I drive all the way from the "west side" of Pasadena...despite having 2 TJ's that are closer to me! This is the one TJ's I can count on to never be out of anything I need! This is where is where I shop. This is my Trader Joes ... my grocery store... I love Trader Joes because the products and value. Like someone mentioned, my only problem is that they don't have everything one might need... I love to cook and bake from scratchl, and I find myself having to go to another store to get everything I need. Also, I find myself needing to go to a produce market as well because Trader Joes doesn't have a super wide selection of produce..and you can't just buy one tomato or one onion, you have to buy them in packages. WOah! They sell Hendrick's gin for a lot cheaper than other places. I went in here for a quick stop while waiting for our food at Stone Wood Fire and Grill next door. I love that this place is clean, well stocked and organized. Cashiers as well as other workers there are friendly and helpful. I did have to deduct a star because the two buck chug wine went up. I know its not their fault, but it did make me a little sad. That won't stop me from going here though. There is plenty of parking and lots of wonderful stuff inside. I also bought 100% pineapple juice not from concentrate, which can be a bit rare to find at other markets. Pretty excited to drink that stuff soon. Angel at Trader Joe's. Hi all. Just wanted to commend a thoughtful and kind young man named Thomas at Trader Joe's on Rosemead in Pasadena. I loss my car keys today while shopping. I didn't realize this until I was at my car. I returned to the store and received little help and concern. So I called my husband to bring his key and proceeded to wait by my car in 96 degree weather. I was so frustrated. Thomas came out to gather baskets and saw me standing next to my car. He came over and asked if I was okay and did I need help. I told him what happened and he asked if anyone was looking for my keys. I replied no. This considerate young man said that he just couldn't leave me out here in the heat as he was only out for three minutes and was fried. He insisted I wait in the store, put my grocery in the refrigerator so my perishables wouldn't spoil, took my name and number to call if they were turned in and said when my husband arrived have the front desk page him and he would bring my food. He then proceeded to look through the store in case I dropped them!! Really! He turned a frustrating and 'I'm at the end of my rope' moment around. If you're in Trader Joe's and see Thomas please give him a 'way to go' for going out of his way to be kind and considerate. We just don't have enough of that these days. read more

Love going to Trader Joe's for fresh organic produce and fruit snacks. Even though the prices are a bit higher than most grocery stores, you are paying for the "Organic" part. My favorite fruit of all time is Mango. I can eat mango in any state or form whether it be unripe mangos, ripen mangos, dried Mangos, frozen mangos, mango puree, mango green tea, mango smoothies, mango ice cream. mango mousse, or mango cake. So when I'm craving for some dried mango fruit snack, you will find me rampaging the dried fruit aisle at Trader Joe's. I always get their "Just Mango slices" which is unsulfured & unsweetened for $2.99 and the "Chile Spiced Mango" which is unsulfured & sweetened for $1.99. read more

You are bringing the fun and joy back, in this modern era of soulless shopping*. Employees are very cool and smiling! I live in Los Angeles. Smiling at people, strangers, is not the norm! Some staples: I love the convenience of the fresh-ish chopped veggie mixes, since I have a busy lifestyle. The dark chocolate bar with coconut creme and black sea salt is my all-time favorite chocolate. I love that their shampoos have cleaner ingredients. I appreciate that they carry well-priced tea tree oil, jojoba oil, and sunscreen. *Note: Disclaimer--I'm not a fan of visiting the crowded Santa Monica location, on Pico Blvd, because of the crowds. I find that the customers at ALL other locations easier to be around...less uptight/high-strung/obnoxious. Trader Joe's is my favorite natural / health food store. Ever. For one thing, it's got the best prices around. Why people shell out at Whole Foods is beyond me (or was until I moved to Tampa, where your health food choices are Whole Foods or Sweetbay, which are about the same price). But in LA, choices abound, & TJ's is the best! I love their granola. I don't know what it is about it, & I couldn't even tell you which variety is my favorite, but those bags of crunchy delicious morsels just steal my heart. Whole Foods' self-serve stuff doesn't cut it, & the crap they sell in regular grocery stores that's almost more sugary than Lucky effing Charms makes me want to cry. Generally nice staff, store doesn't feel nearly as cramped as most other TJs. You'd think with a bigger parking lot too, that your car would be safe, however an employee walking through the parking lot, with a big leash-type tool and big hook on the end, was carelessly spinning his "leash" and happened to hit my car with it as he walked past. I love this place the only thing is that sometimes the parking lot gets very full fast because of all the shoppers going to shop at TJ's. Small store and slightly hidden location but like all Trader Joe's, it's got a great selection of their own products and fresh produce at an affordable price. There is ample parking at this location although the direction of the entrance is not facing the lot. Great TJ's. They have everything here, and the staff is great. Ample parking in a large lot. It's busy, but you don't feel the constant LA Trader Joe's craziness. Some TJ's are just insane with the amount of people and horrible parking. Not this one. This is our go-to store for a majority of our food items, with Whole Foods supplementing for some specific organic meats and/or cheeses (or specific non-GMO products). read more

Another Trader Joe's, so you've heard it all, or most of it. What I like about this one: -Ample parking -Even at its most crowded, it's bearable. I'm a "personal space" weirdo, and I can deal here. Not so much at other TJ's -Never had an unfriendly cashier -Fast moving lines -Well-stocked shelves -They card me, even though I am ooold. Okay, not that oooold, but old enough. =P read more
