A bit disappointed to leave this review considering everyone there is extremely nice, the store is spacious, they have a great variety compared to most others, and I am a normal shopper here. The reason I make this review is to warn consumers not to get the breakfast burritos unless you are willing to take risk. Twice now I have bought a sausage, potato, egg, burrito. They are really good. However, both times one of them was delicious (the day I got it) the second one was rancid even though it was before the best by date. Why? COOKED EGGS HAVE A SHELF LIFE OF 3 TO 4 DAYS. I wouldn't want anything to happen to this Trader Joe's because it is the best location. Someone needs to fix this before a consumer gets seriously ill from Salmonella and this location gets shut down. People will sue over bad perfume, selling expired burritos is a sitting duck. I hope the owner sees this and gets it fixed before anything happens. read more

One of the best parts about the this location is that parking is huge!!!!! Yesss! When you walk into the market you are immediately told what the sample for the day is. Kind of cool. I've never seen that any other locations. Once you get inside the store, again, spacious. No need to try and avoid bumping into people. I got rotten food from this location so many times, butternut squash, steak, chicken,packed asparagus, they have problems with their refrigerator,the worse thing is their employees never apologized for the inconvenience for me.It's so frustrating when u get ready to cook and find out the ingredient smell like poop,then you gotta to decide either to drive all the way back to get your money back or totally just waste your money throwing food in the trush.I don't want to go through that the fifth time. read more

Probably one of the better Trader Joe's in the area, this is right next to my gym, and so easy to get the things I need, such as brown rice, and desserts (I know, what a combination...). The hard thing is to only buy what I intended, as there is so much good stuff to be found. I usually like their coffee nibs, and pizza, but there are plenty of desserts too! You know that John Denver song, "Back Home Again"? Of course you don't, Yelpers... Your median age is what-- 24? Well, trust me, it's a good song, and it evokes some of the same feelings and synaptic firings that walking into a Trader Joe's store does... The east Pasadena location, though maybe one of the more quaint of her sisters spread out across the area, is no exception. Despite the smaller layout, there is a variety of fresh produce, complete with seasonals and organics. The cold prepared salad case near the flowers and orchids is great. Fresh breads, mixed nuts, cheeses, frozen Margherita pizzas for five bucks, the plastic tubs of chocolate cat cookies and ginger snaps... Seriously, haven't you been here? Beer and wine selection at this store isn't quite as broad as at, say, the Monrovia location, but there's some goodies here. My favorite is the Boont IPA from Boonville, CA (in cans!). It's "Bahl Hornin'" to use the lingo. What this store lacks in square footage it makes up with its cashiers. Back when the other supermarkets were striking, Trader Joes leveraged its courteous, conversational, and infectiously positive cashiers to turn disgruntled Vons customers into happy TJs afficianados. It keeps us the same way-- I'm sure there's store training on this, but I like it. The cashiers ask you how your day is going, they're nice to my kids (who have been playing the store game of finding the pirate or looking for the stuffed animals hidden for them), they make a food recommendation for next time-- but it's never pushy or condescending. They smile! ... Such a different experience than going to Albertsons and being ignored while the wannabe cougar cashier flirts with the mouth-breathing bagger boy who should be Sherpa-ing carts from the parking lot anyway. I had a very pleasant experience at this Trader Joe's! I didn't quite find everything that I was looking for but I was assured by a smiley and friendly employee that it was due to production delays at the warehouse. No biggie! My pleasurable experience was really enhanced by a young man with glasses (Carter, I think his name was?). He saw that I bought some IPAs and we had a really fun and insightful conversation about beer. By the end of our conversation, he put on a dance which filled me with such delight! He wished me well on my way out! It is because of Carter (?) that I will continue to come to this Trader Joe's. There are a few that are in my vicinity but I go out of my way to come to this one. I love all Trader Joe's. What is not to love .... 1. friendly service: there service is pretty good in general and all of the employees seems rather happy 2. unique products: they have seasonal items and when it comes out I am just in love with them! Ex. Christmas they make an advent calendar, in the summer they make peony smelling lotions, sometimes they have cotton candy grape. The list can go on and on, if you happen to see a seasonal item that you love make sure to stock up because it sure does fly off the shelf 3. great prices: I love how everything is super affordable and fresher than name brands grocery stores like Vons or Ralph Now where this location differs: -parking lot is a little crazy and although the lane is wide it still hard to get in and out -the entrance is kind of hard to get into because it essentially 1 lane for coming in and out traffic -cash register set up more like mobile cash registers which can get crowded at times read more

A very crowded Trader Joe's with rude managers! I've had to return a couple of things to this Trader Joe's --one time they tell me to go to the manager area --today they told me to get in line. I had two managers tell me this today, honestly two people need to tell me this. I was not pleased. Just take the product and take it to the line for me! I've had another experience returning something in line at this Trader Joe's with a manager who seemed annoyed at having to do so. Apparently the managers at this Trader Joe's are not happy working there, something I have never experienced in the decades of shopping at any other Trader Joe's. You will also find a nice sample station, which has yet to disappoint me and free coffee for days. If you have never been to TJ's, you've probably been living under a rock. Came in for wine early in the morning, yes I'm a secret wino person wanting a new glass of wino for tonight jus BC. This store is a bit awkward tucked behind some stores, parking ugh. Ok. Not the greatest. But anywho, I got 2 bottles Kono (haven't tried) New Zealand Sauvignon blanc (white wine) and Peachbilini which is bomb $5 bottle and twist cap, bam. So checking out & had my reusable's and wine in my bag & drove off. Once I got to Where I needed to be something led me to look @ receipt & I did to my surprise the Kono wine was charged $8.99 and the peach Bellini wasn't. With that being said I called TJ's & told them what happened & that I wanted to pay for the bottle but not until the next day, management (won't say his name) took care of it for my honestly. I am so upset right now. I was shopping at my favorite TJs (Hastings Ranch in Pasadena). The couple NOT SOCIAL DISTANCING behind me had no masks. I asked a TJ employee and he said yes, it's the rule but we are not enforcing it. WHAT???????? It's an LA County mandate as well as Pasadena Health department (both of which will be getting notified by me). I work in health care. I have vulnerable people in my family. I cannot believe the management's attitude is "we aren't enforcing it". Early on, I was so impressed with how seriously your company took the guidelines. I guess you don't anymore. I won't step foot in another TJs until this changes. If you care more about the business you get from jerks who don't follow the rules then I guess you don't need my business. I frequent many because I have 2 growing girls and I want them to eat healthy as well as experience a variety and Trader Joe's allows me to do that at a very affordable cost I used to go to the Los Felis, Monrovia, Pasadena, When I was a child my dad would take me to the Traders on Palms in Mar Vista Now it's probably something else. Anyway, you can get fresh salads, veggies/fruits, nuts, coffee, breads, etc and from all over My favorite is that no matter what time of year, they're always so festive! There's staples but also a ton of fun variables like pumpkin flavored items like raviolis, soup and pasta to Christmas wreaths, mistletoe, cinnamon pine cones, goat cheese log covered in cranberry or cinnamon apples and paired with the Fig and Olive Crisps fantastic starter!! I love this TJs located pretty much in Hastings Ranch at the top of Rosemead because the easy parking and I like how before you even get inside you get a full ramp up to the door of all the beautiful floral items Lots of fun seasonal plants and flowers as well Great gifts and so inexpensive! Best parking lot situation for any of the SGV Trader Joe's locations, which is big because no one wants to get run over while toting their bags of kale and $2 avocados back to their car!! This location also boast consistently friendly and fast service. I've tried most of the fresh fruit and let's be honest, it's pretty bad and overpriced (this keeps me from a 5-star review). Also meats are a bit pricey compared to Sprouts and Ralph's. I know I'm sounding like a housemom here but I do like getting good prices for groceries. Veggies, cheeses, frozen food aisle and breads are all super well priced and yes.. we all have our favorites. TJ's remains a staple of my grocery and snack budget and packs a lot of crowd pleasers when I'm having guests over. Catch me here at least once a week to stock up on the basics. read more

For years this store felt off limits unless I had a gift card or we were in better times financially, but luckily I know the truth now and go rather consistently. And have discovered quite a few treasures! My favorite may be their Hash Brown Patties. They are only $1.99 for 10, and more importantly are the only ones I can find that are gluten free!! Aside from at Smart and Final, whose price for 20 is still pretty good but not as low as 20 from Trader Joe's. Another awesome find has been the gluten Free Macaroni and Cheese!! Again just $1.99. It is very delicious and brings back pleasant memories of when I was eating the glutenous kind while younger. These are just two examples but despite being a small sized store, there are a rather large number for gluten free options, which I am so grateful for. They actually have a list of all of them, available at the Customer Service counter, which I often forget as I head straight for my favorite items. Another positive is that the employees have always been very friendly, whether in person or on the phone. The only bummers are that sometimes the store can get very crowded and uncomfortable. Plus I wish they could be open a little longer each day as most stores are. I could write more, but all this writing about them has made me hungry, so I am off to enjoy my $1.99 Gluten Free waffles! Not my usual TJ's but when I'm on the Eastside of Pasadena I always stop by! I love that they have plenty of parking. The store is always neatly stocked and organized. They have plenty of space in the store to move around freely and shop without playing bumper shopping carts! The amount of space overall is used wisely in this store which is one thing that sets this store apart from my usual Lake Ave location! They also sample very good coffee! I am a big fan of Trader Joes and this location in particular rocks! They have such an awesome open parking area....no matter what time of the day/evening you go, you never have to get frustrated looking for parking...its plentiful! Service is pretty phenomenal and friendly. I have never waited for more than 5 minutes in line (damn, I hope I don't jinx it now!). They have a nice selection of organic produce unlike some other locations that never carry organic tomatoes or organic red grapes. The only thing I would not buy here are fruits like papayas and pomegranates which are grossly overpriced...head to any ethnic food store and save yourself a bundle for these! Apart from that, this is one of the nicest TJs locations....highly recommend it! read more

My favorite grocery store! Been coming to this location more because the other one that moved to San Gabriel/Huntington has terrible parking! I'm here almost every weekend! The price is right, love all their snacks, and friendly service. I can never go back to Ralphs or Vons where you have to deal with those savings or rewards cards. My favorite veggie pack is cruciferous crunch for only $1.99! Although they discontinued my favorite snack the cranberry coconut crackers, there's now the Honey Butter chips! How have I not reviewed my favorite Trader Joe's yet? This is my favorite store in the area. It's neat, clean, organized, & the staff is beyond friendly. I generally never have a problem finding something I'm looking for & if I do, the guys are so nice & will help me find it or look in the back for me to see if it came in. The best part about this place is that the parking lot is huge so you never have to fight for a parking spot. I hate the other 2 TJ's in Pasadena so I'll always go to this one, even if it's out of my way. The one on Arroyo is tiny with about 6 parking spaces & the one on Lake is lame because you have to go up 3 floors of the parking garage just to get to the store..such a production. read more

Super piss poor customer service. I had to return rancid chicken and it was two days before its expiration date. Mind you, it was Sunday which meant insane lines. I went to customer service and asked DALE to assist with a refund. He kept REFUSING to help me skip the lines. I was already livid because I had to come back for a 2nd time with bad meat and I wasted already 40 minutes of my life. He kept repeating that he couldn't help me and I needed to go back in line. WTF? He couldn't think to help me and talk to a cashier to help me process a return immediately. He simply couldn't be bothered. I was so livid that I wrote TJ corporate but they didn't respond either nor do I expect TJ to care about this review about their shitty customer service. What have they done to you? One of the joys of shopping at my Trader Joe's is the sample counter, a little oasis featuring a cheerful Trader Joe's crew member handing out free morsels of whatever they're hocking at the moment; as well as the little cups of free, self-service Trader Joe's brew of the day. Well, the samples were there, as was the hot pot; but where were the stacks of little cups?? As it turns out, the coffee is no longer self service. "Portion control," they said. Apparently, there were shoppers taking advantage, coming in with their own mugs and filling up. What the hell? How ghetto is that? I don't know about you, but I'd feel a tinge of shame as I walked up with my commuter mug, filled that bad-boy to the brim right in front of the store employee, and nonchalantly added cream and sugar to taste. It's a small thing, but it's the principle of the matter. How sad. Java moochers, the coffee-colored blotch on your soul has stained my sample counter experience. Thanks. There, there... Great location. Plenty of parking. Nice & friendly staff... It's such a convenience coming in to this TJ location in the Hastings Ranch area before I head into work. It's not crowded, the aisles are spotless, the employees are all quite cheerful, there are plenty of spaces to park in and the music is playing. What's not to like? Just keep this between us, ok? Traders is great. I just wish they would allow us to grab the samples and go. Lol I'd estimate about 70% of would-be samplers never actually sample TJ's samples, due to the process/ scheme of making customers ask for them rather than happily passing them out. This time (I'm here) they have a guy back here giving scoops of ice cream out to his fellow co workers! Of course they are comfortable with him sitting there chatting and asking for more ice cream,-while all the customers are walking by with looks on their faces like, gee that ice cream sure looks good, I wish you was scoop some in the cups & sit them out there for us to grab. Traders has awesome customer service though. Head and shoulders about any other establishment. That's just a cheeky/silly personal gripe I have with how they don't have the samples sitting out ready to grab-and-go. Lol read more

Parking lot and store itself are spacious, however I'm not too sure about the employees. I think management needs to talk to some of their employees about greeting / acknowledging their customer. I came in on a Sat night,around 8:30pm , and could count on one hand the number of times I was greeted. One young girl with long darker blond hair in a single braid needs a serious attitude adjustment , as the way she was acting/ignoring me ..you'd think I'd insulted her family or something. I've been to enough Trader Joes to know most employees don't act this way. As if that wasn't enough, I was short one item (only $1 , but still), but I didn't feel like dealing with ****ty attitudes. Everyone is always so friendly and upbeat here which I love, but I come here for quality food and baked goods and most of the time that's not what I'm getting. I haven't been coming as much cause I notice dates in the bread and veggies are soon to be expired! I have brought bread home only to realize it's stale and my muffins go bad fast! Also my cucumbers are not crunchy and tomatoes are nasty. I love tangerine juice and don't purchase here anymore cause I literally have 1 day maybe 2 to drink it! It goes bad fast!! I spoke with someone about this and he said the date on my cucumbers etc is the "package date" my food says otherwise. They really need to step it up and get some fresher food! I am so impressed with the safety and efficiency of this location in spite of the pandemic regulations. I felt so safe knowing all customers were asked to sanitize before entering. The regulate number of customers and everything runs very smoothly. All the staff are always so kind and helpful.
