Wanted to stop by after it changed from Good Fortune. The stock is quite limited, with many frozen foods already gone, but the produce I saw looked pretty fresh. Prices were decent, and it's an okay market if you're only grabbing a few items.

They even have fresh veggies, frozen items & a whole aisle of utensils, cookware, kitchen & dining items!

You could get a membership if you'd like but non-members are also welcome to shop! I plan on coming back here again this weekend. It's worth the drive from the Central Valley to So Cal! I found some awesome deals while shopping. They had three large Korean pears for $3!!! That's such a steal. I was so happy to find my favorite fruit at a great price. Among my groceries, I treated myself to the viral fruit shaped ice cream. I believe it was $7 for a pack of three. I feel like it's a lot more affordable here than places in my hometown that charge more than half of the price for just one. It was tasty and I can definitely see the hype.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Tokyo Central yet, though I've stopped by here…read moredozens of times - my go to is their sushi tray options! They have the BEST tasting salmon sushi/sashimi all around, at this price point, even better salmon quality compared to nearby sushi restaurants in my opinion. (Our Japanese native friend also agrees.) Best part is - 20% off after 7 pm!!!! But the trays get snatched up quickly. Too bad I'm not around the area at that time, otherwise I'd make Tokyo Central my weekly run for dinner. Their Kimchi Tako Poke is another regular we get, it's so good. However, recently, the only option I saw was the Shoyu Tako Poke - and I didn't like this version one bit - too hard and the flavor is not to my liking. Will never get it again. The hot food area has quite a decent selection, priced and weight by the pound, self-served. Often around 3-4pm, you may see 20% discounted packaged hot food placed out, whatever that's leftover from the lunch rush hour. Tried it a few times, but felt most of the food is heavily dosed in MSG, so I'd be selective on what I get. They also have sashimi party trays which require pre-order. Great pricing for the quality and convenience. Overall, love their sushi selection, and it's a regular stop for us. As for the market itself, there's not as much to buy, and pricing is on the higher end. However, they have a larger selection of some products that I can't find elsewhere, and sometimes their advertised specials are decently priced.

Also grocery and refrigerated items I hadn't seen before. This location is very clean, lots of fresh bento boxes for your choosing. They have a good frozen section and many pantry items. Prices are pretty much the same as other locations. My only experience that was blah was the cashier. She was an older lady with glasses and she seemed impatient and hurried me to move my items towards her on the belt. There was only one other person behind me, so I didn't understand the rush. But it did come off slightly unfriendly. Otherwise, it was an as expected store. Lots of parking also in their lot.

Having gone to mitsuwa and Tokyo central countless times, Tozai really hits the spot when it comes to affordable Japanese food that actually tastes good. My only complaint is that their rice seems a bit overcooked. It's too mushy for my liking. Teriyaki chicken - extremely generous with the rice. The teriyaki chicken actually has a char taste to it which adds so much flavor to the chicken. There isn't too much teriyaki sauce, which I like. Tempura bento - really loved the tempura in here. Everything was fried just right. The batter is crispy and light. It's not greasy at all. The side dishes were delicious. The fried wontons were good but the fried shumai had a bit of a porky taste to it. California rolls - probably the best I've had in a Japanese market. The rice actually has a slight vinegar taste to it, which is lacking at other places. Croquette - it's meatless but still so good. It's potato only but has an occasional cheesy fragrance to it. Definitely coming back again for the food

For those that are not familiar with Super King Market, this is a market that was founded by Peter…read moreand Mary Fermanian, with the first store in Anaheim (which has since remolded and is significantly bigger than the first one). The name "King" is a homage to honor their father, who was known to be the king of fruit. Super King Market is best known for their produce, excellent quality and very affordable prices. The market itself is very international in which you can find Middle Eastern items, Hispanic items and also Asian grocery items as well. I really love Super King and so does my husband. After my husband had discovered the location in Claremont (I actually had shopped there before he did, many years ago), he just has this desire to visit the other locations. We have already visited the one in Glendale, which is my least favorite of the 3 that we have gone to so far. This location is cleaner and does seem to be bigger (but I prefer the set up and layout of the location in Claremont. The parking is way better than the other 2 locations that we have visited). Anyways, we came by this store on a Saturday and it was definitely busy. But not so busy that it felt crowded (but can't say that will be the same for you if you come on a weekend). The first selection I love to visit is their produce section. There is such a vast variety of different, good quality, vegetables and fruits. And what makes this section even better is the fact that the produce is so cheaply priced. A market like this really encourages you to choose healthier choices of fruits and vegetables (and also whole grains. The dried grains, rice + beans section is also very cheap, as compared to the typical American market like Von's, Ralph's, etc). I also love all the different types of breads that you can find on the other side of the store. The prices for whole wheat pita bread is very cheap too (and also the regular pita bread for those who don't appreciate whole grain foods and don't get enough fiber in their diet). Be aware that a lot of their fresh breads have a short shelf life so make sure you finish your bread before they go bad and have mold :( Customer service at the register was just whatever, but I don't come to this market expecting it to be stellar, so that doesn't bother me. The prices are great here, the selection of food items (in many different departments, not just the produce) is excellent and would come back to this location more often if I lived in the area.

Well they have super long lines and no baggers. So the cashier has to bag and it can take so much…read moreextra time. Unless you the customer bags your own stuff. But the elderly can't do that so it's why the lines are so long. Now here is the kicker. At the end of the checking line is a manager ...sometimes 2. A man and a woman. They are observing the long lines...counting something...just observing. It would help if THEY just go to the end of a long line and start bagging! See, that would be cool! You see you guys have not scheduled any baggers and the lines are so long they are down the aisles .. and you are just standing there? Of course they may say, well that's not my job. But that's the mentality that keeps things moving slow. It would be so nice if people just did what it takes to keep things moving. Either hire enough people OR get in there and start bagging! I remember back in the days there was a bagger at the end of each checkout aisle. A bagger and a casher! Those days are gone ...and most stores now see if they can get away with overworking the checker! Next thing you know they install self check outs! Rather than hire people and keep a system of people working they just get rid of people and have 1 person observing (like these managers were doing). What a world we are moving towards. But anyways that's what you see. I wish they would just hire bag boys and go back to the good ol days.

The parking lot is huge but still seems inadequate for the number of cars/patrons in the area. The GW Supermarket is "open" so there's no walls separating market from other business stalls. The area has a bakery, trinket shops and a food court that well liked by customers. I see streams of people weekdays and weekends. What I liked was finding some special edition Yeo Chrysanthemum drinks linking to Chinese New Year (very cute) and sales on lucky red envelopes. The Great Wall is smaller than other Asian supermarkets in the area, which makes everything feel really cramped and crowded. The aisle is tight so movement with two - three carts can be challenging. The selection of variety of anything is limited so I can see the lower-than-normal rating. Overall, GW calls the basics and gives the community another market option rather than driving further into SGV.
