I had a very disappointing experience at TS Emporium. The service was rude, and the store itself had an unpleasant smell, which made it uncomfortable to stay and shop. When I asked the staff a simple question, they refused to help me because they do not speak English. There was no attempt to find someone who could assist or to communicate in any helpful way. As a customer, this was extremely frustrating. I tried a few times but again received a wave of 'don't disturb me' This is a customer-facing business in the United States, and basic English communication is a reasonable expectation. Professionalism, and customer service all need serious improvement. I would not recommend this place unless significant changes are made. read more

This TS emporium is bigger and has more selection than any others in SGV from what I noticed. You can find some limited time instant ramen here you can't find anywhere else but they get sold out fast. I tried to go back next week to find is gone indefinitely. So if you want to try things that aren't the usual stuff, go to this branch and keep an eye out. read more

Some of the workers are so rude! I ask for help to see if they could identify something I was looking for from this lady in the high price herb section. She basically said no with an attitude as soon as I asked her. Then she just looked away as if I wasn't there. Wow!! I quest if I wasn't interested in buying anything she is selling; she will not help you. I get the same vibe from most of the workers there. I came here for the first time today while waiting for my husband to get a haircut. There is a wide variety of herbal stuff and other Chinese supermarket that would carry. I end up buying a herbal cream that went on sale. There is also some pricy bird nest and ginseng stuff. Don't go to this location for your sanity's sake. The store is total pandemonium! Their staff are unfriendly, unwelcoming, unprofessional and rude! Not only you wouldn't get any help to look for things, but they would play wise cracks on seniors by making them wait in line on purpose by confusing them thinking they lined up incorrectly and ended up lining behind others who came after just for their sick amusement! I have never witnessed such ridiculous behavior in a retail store ever! Their security guard was abusive as well. They would tail you for no apparent reason as if you're trying to steal their precious dried veggies or something! Film you without a legitimate cause! Unfortunately the staff is only marginally pro in English and many of the items are labeled almost exclusively in Chinese so it can be a bit difficult figuring out what things are. I don't really purchase the herbs myself but my family loves coming here. I mainly come got the fresh produce that they have on a daily. They also have a large selection of Chinese cooking condiments. Some of the brand, you don't normally see at the regular Chinese supermarket. You know those are the tasty stuff for cooking. LOLLLL! I love they have a good selection of Chinese remedy, like the tiger balms, and white flower oil. Those work wonders for me! This was my first time to this market because my Chinese friend wanted to show me this place. I originally came here to find some chopstick rests, but didn't find anything that was appealing to me. However, I did find the ground mushrooms that I have been searching for at other markets but couldn't find. Also, I found some jelly drink snacks that my son loved. The store had a massive amount of Chinese medicinal herbs if that's what you are looking for. They had fresh vegetables but not as much as other markets. Stores are big with an abundance of oriental selections which I have visited a few and bought many things. Their online store is amazing too! I have ordered from them many times. What's up: Wanted to come check this place out and see how things have changed from when it used to be a Pep Boys. Plus, we were also on the search for ingredients that we needed to make some yummy tapioca pearl dessert! Parking: Parking was busy up front, but if you head towards the back, you'll eventually find some open spots. The lot is shared with the nearby businesses. Environment: Masks are required. Wow, this place is huge and clean. Things were bright and well lit with lots of Lunar New Year decor. Once you walk in, you'll see the check-out counters on the left and tons of aisles all around. They even have a fresh produce section towards the back. Restrooms are located near the produce section. There's multiple cashiers but only one line for check out. What was bought: - Sweet Potato - Tapioca Pearls - Rock Sugar Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. We found our ingredients and we also found the sweet vinegar we usually get when we make ginger eggs...and they have it in different sizes! I know where we're going there next time we need this. TSE has always been one of my grandparents' favorite places to get herbs and ingredients for soups and ethnic remedies. However, it's also an excellent spot - as I've discovered - for quality produce. This TSE location is super spacious, and I was surprised at how green the veggies were. Outside of traditional ingredients, they also have snacks, instant noodles, and other items that you'd expect at a traditional Chinese supermarket. They accept SNAP, EBT, CalFresh and some of those programs, so make sure to inquire if you have those! The staff were friendly, and checkout was very smooth and efficient. Despite my grandparent(s) needing extra time and attention, the staff were patient and very helpful throughout the checkout process. The traffic and parking aren't always the best, but I'll definitely be returning here when I'm local. read more

My sister and I visited the new location across the street from The Hat. Easy parking in front of the store. Once we walked inside, the space is huge from the former people boys. One side is herbs at the counter and other side is pharmacy stuff. The aisles are spacious and well stocked with household, condiments, ramen, and sell fresh vegetables in the back. All I hear the older ladies chatter so I followed the sound and see vegetables individually wrapped and they are affordable prices. Fun place to look around. read more

TS Emporium has just opened it newest branch in Rosemead occupying the former Pep Boys store. On its first day of grand opening, there are a lot of promotional gifts giving out to patrons. Depending on the purchase amount, gifts packages vary with different practical things such as utensils, seasoning sauces and lunar calendars. This is by far the biggest stores of the Chinese herb specialty store chain. They have all the usual Chinese herbs plus all the other Chinese grocery items as well as freshly delivered produces directly from the local farms. For me, I normally shop at TS Emporium for Chinese cooking sauce and spices. They have the most comprehensive stocks of Chinese cooking ingredients. I can cook up a storm of any Chinese dish with ingredients here. Lastly, if you're looking for an auto rice cooker, this place has all types and brands of rice cooker. We bought a 3 cup small rice cooker that's made in Japan as Christmas present for our mom. During grand opening week, parking maybe a bit challenging. But they do have a lot of parking spaces in the back. read more

TS Emporium has been around since I was in elementary school and my mom would always take me along with her to the store on right by Garvey and Garfield. I pretty much grew up with this store as the go-to place for herbs and spices. Never have I ever visited a store such as TS Emporium that has all the necessary ingredients Chinese people need for their traditional remedies, recipes, and medicine all in one place. Whether you're Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or Taiwanese, a lot of the products here are catered to most Asians in general and the stuff you find at supermarkets will most definitely be more expensive and poorer quality. I'm just happy that they finally opened one up north of the 10 freeway in the Temple City/San Gabriel area so that most individuals do not need to bother to drive out to Monterey Park or Rowland Heights for their other locations. Although I don't know how to make all those delicious traditional dishes with stuff like Lotus Seeds, Goji Berries, and all those roots/leaves with their scientific names, I know for sure I will visit any of the TS Emporium stores to find what I need. However, if you ever visit Hong Kong or Taiwan, getting the same quality products or better, will be at least half the price in the states but only if you can get some of the items through customs; good luck. Stuff like dried abalone, dried scallops, "birds nest", ginseng, and dried mushrooms are my top items to buy here. Pretty much any "dried" foods are always on my shopping list or my parents' shopping list. Also, the produce here is relatively cheaper than the major supermarket chains around the area. If you're nice enough to the people who pack it up in the back, you can ask for a smaller bag of whatever produce you need because I can never finish an entire bag that they've already prepackaged and I love the fact they give you an option. Just make sure you thank them for doing that for you and try not to ask them multiple times for different items. Most of their non-dried items are priced competitively so you'll have to shop around to find the cheapest at places like Good Fortune,168, 99 Ranch, or Great Wall Supermarket. read more

Good variety of fresh vegetables sold here. First time I saw purple you choy. Some might think it's slightly bitter but it's also more flavorful than the regular you choy. I personally like how the vegetables aren't over sprayed/drenched in water here. The ladies packing the vegetables are very helpful and will let you know what's good especially when there's a new item. This is the largest TSE I've seen. Here's my initial impression from only one visit so far: 1. Store is clean and there is a lot of merchandise. There are some items that I have not seen at other TSEs before. 2. There is a small produce section in the back. It's definitely not as big as a supermarket, but it's convenient and larger than regular TSEs. They had these green apples that I had never seen anywhere before, and they were delicious. 3. I bought 14 items and paid 7/24/24 about noon. Cashier ShaoLing selected an item Yam/sweet potato and told me in Chinese "corpse?" Immediately, I don't know about 65 years old ShaoLing unintentional or on purpose. I gave ShaoLing a short break and repeated her in Chinese. ShaoLing showed her bilingual skills by telling yam in English. Yam is 薯 in Chinese one word (at lease in the customer service in a city and not about her root village) ShaoLing used two words which is a curse "dead body". With the age and experience, ShaoLing is more insulting than a novice not know Chinese mishandling of language. It is unpleasant when a business cashier ShaoLing insulted customer. read more

The staffs are friendly and helpful, especially those who give free food samples. They are super friendly and willing to assist with any question. One of the cashiers was very arrogant and unfriendly!! (Traditionally T S Emporium including Monterey Park branch are also arrogant and do not like any return items.) We bought a bag of special discounted and wrapped chinese turnips from the Temple City store yesterday and one of the small piece (apprx 4" long x 1.5" dia.) fell out from the torn wrapped plastic bag. The lady in the Vegetable Section told us it would be okayed for us to put them a new plastic bag and go to pay. At the pay line, the cashier toke out the torn bag of the chinese turnips and charged the marked price. She toke out the fell out small piece from the same plastic bag and wanted to weight it and charged the regular price (worth around 20 cents). I told the lady that it was part of the special discounted item and why she did not ask or to confirm with us if it is part of the special priced turnips or if it is a regular priced chinese turnips and if we really want to buy a extra chinese turnips like that small. She replied that it was not her job to ask or to confirm, and she would not have the time. Is it the way T S Emporium want to treat its customers for extra 20 cents? read more

I went there on 3/5 and the cashier who is a 30 something women with pony tail doesn't know what customer service is. She is so lazy and rude! Basically we asked to get 2 plastic bags and every time the cashiers pack the stuff in bags for us when we bought the bags and the service was great the last few times. Today this woman asked me to pack the stuff myself. I should've told her I don't want to buy the bags then if I had to pack it myself. It's more expensive than other stores anyway and the manager should've provide more customer service training to people like this woman. read more

I went to this new location twice, both times they said my items cannot be checked out together so I have use my credit twice for two separate payments. I've never experienced this at other store locations. Also, item freshness is really questionable, I brought the frozen noodle and there are mold inside when I opened it... it was only a few bucks so I did not bother going back to return it. Let me tell to something. This store had the AUDACITY to say that it does happen each time. So my parents and I went to this store which we always go back in China and Hong Kong. After we finish shopping we went to line up which the line is very too long to be honest. But we still lined up like any other person there. After 30 mins it was almost our turn to pay. The line we were in was the only line available there in the store and some people went next to us acting like there were another line next to us. There were no other line besides ours. So we were like " excuse me, this is the only line" there acted like they didn't hear us. And the cashier had the freaking AUDACITY to call them to the cash register. A lot of people including us were like what the f. Like we stand here for more than 30 mins and you are going to call someone who isn't even on the right line. My dad went to talk with the people who was working in the cash register and told them that they were not in line. You know what they said. They said that it doesn't matter. Like what the heck. Yes it DOES. The line include many elders and children who were waiting to pay. Like how do you expect for the elders to feel standing there for more than 30 mins! So many people went to talk with the people working there and what did they do. NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! EVEN THE FREAKING SECURITY APOLOGIZE FOR THE MESS. LIKE IS THIS HOW THEY WORK. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! THE CASHIER KEPT CALLING PEOPLE WHO WERE IN THE OTHER LINE WHICH IS NOT EVEN IN LINE TO GO PAY. LIKE IS THIS HOW THEY WORK!
