I was really impressed by the selection. It felt like I was in a new food world with items to discover I had never new existed before. Being new to Columbus, I had never been to a Trader Joe's, but had seen them while out of town out West before. I thought the prices were really good considering what they have to offer. I came in for a specific product that Hungry Girl said I could get here. I decided to start at one side of the store just to see what it was like. It is so nice and clean and very organized. When you first walked in, there were fresh cut flowers and they were priced nice. A small but good selection of fruit and vegetables. A wonderful array of breads. I found it interesting that, at least at this one, the freezer section is open as a refrigerated section would be. They didn't happen to have what I came in for but I didn't go out empty-handed. They have a very nice selection of organic, naturally free from chemical products. Everyone that works there was very friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant place to shop. read more

My favorite trader joes in Columbus because it actually has a parking lot to fit all the cars!! (Sorry Easton). If you come mid day on the weekend it is an absolute mad house inside the store so I suggest going early right after they open for the best selection. This location in particular does an amazing job of combining products for their sample table! I also love the set up, the aisles seem a bit wider since the remodel. I would give the store five stars but today I had an employee literally growl at me when I accidentally walked in front of her. Wow! But otherwise the employees are typically very friendly and helpful. I do love this location, keep up the good work! read more

If you go to Trader Joe's, you're not just going shopping, you end up finding something that you would have never thought that you would find. I always end up buying a few items that I didn't go into the store to get. I love the cheese section and of course the wine section. Trader Joes is a great little market. If you wanted to pull off your entire weekly grocery list....you could probably do it. I love TJ's in general, so I'll talk more about the location. This one has always been just 'slightly' more confusing than others. I don't mind it terribly, but when you have to pass the spaghetti stuff to get to the produce, and then you have to sort of double back to get to the first aisle, the traffic gets all clogged and i end up rushing through that area. I've just seen better set ups at other TJ's. Otherwise, love this place and will always go back! read more

I love Trader Joe's soooooo much, but hate where the two locations are in Columbus. 161 & Sawmill and Easton...my two least favorite places to drive! I only live about 5 miles from both, but for some reason it takes at least 30 minutes to get to either. Anyway, I work closer to this one, so the Dublin location is the one I frequent most. My absolute favorite item is the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels. Unfortunately, these are seasonal, so I end up buying about 10 packages around Christmastime. Love their Mandarin Orange Chicken. I prefer eating out when it comes to Asian food, as I don't have all the right equipment to get it perfect. This stuff is great! It has a great flavor and stays nice and crispy. Cookie Butter is also great. I used to buy Biscoff Spread from Kroger, but since it's over $5 for a slightly smaller jar, I now just buy TJ's Cookie Butter. Other good things: macarons, potstickers, frozen spinach artichoke dip, chocolate covered pretzel thins, Joe-Joes, great prices on cheese and salami, honey sesame almonds, peanut sauce...I could go on. Would give the 5 stars except for the congested traffic, although you can always find a parking spot at this TJ's. The other downside of TJ's is that since it's a small store, sometimes it's hard to get through aisles. I like that it's small since it's easier to find things, but it's a pain in the butt to get around when crowded (usually the frozen food section gets backed up). read more

In college, my boyfriend's housemate was gaga over this place called Trader Joe's. I had no idea what it was, but we were totally into stealing his groceries - mainly just the spices for cooking and sometimes his eggs and milk and anything that looked cool that we hadn't tried before. When I asked him about the store, he explained it to me in elaborate detail, gushing over every aspect. When I moved to Columbus, I sought out Trader Joe's. I was surprised. It was so much smaller than I expected. But it was full of things that I love: fresh produce, organic products, faux veggie meats, oddball items that I'm just curious enough to try. They also sell lots of gluten free and kosher stuff. And everything is consistently labeled so you know what's vegan, what's kosher, what's organic, etc. They have all the foods I consider staples in organic form ie Poptarts. There's a great cheese section and an even better candy section. I expected the prices to be high, but they were surprisingly on par with stores like Giant Eagle. I wanted to spend much more money than I did. The lines are short because the laidback workers somehow move at lightning pace without appearing to have moved at all. Maybe I missed it because I was busy ogling from afar the stuff I had missed when I initially walked in. Beware, the small store size coupled with great products means that things get a little tight in the aisles. Just be friendly, and don't let your baby cry - that annoys that shit out of everyone. If I lived closer, I would be a frequent shopper. For now, I'll stick with the occasional strip to stock up on non-perishables. read more

I love Trader Joe's. It took me awhile to understand it's appeal honestly. For the longest time I just thought it was another health food store. Expensive and unreasonable. But boy was I wrong. This place is like a discount whole foods. The aldi of whole foods. The quality of the products sold here is outstanding. Their frozen veggies and dishes are out of this world. There's so many unique and interesting things to try. I also love the free coffee for when you're shopping. I wish the store was bigger. And it's usually pretty busy. But for your money this is absolutely the best place to shop for healthy affordable food. The associates are all friendly and helpful. The store is well stocked and clean. I love this place and wish more of them would open around Columbus. It is absolutely worth checking out! read more

Trader Joe's is my jam and this one is better than the Easton location in terms of space and parking (and also proximity to my house), though getting in and out is a bigger pain than at Easton. If I could have one fantasy come true, it would be that I could go to Trader Joe's one day and purchase everything I could possibly want (and many of each of my favorites) without having to worry about how much money I was spending. This does not imply that Trader Joe's is expensive, that s far from the truth. It just suggests the state of my own finances. Here is an example of great prices: One day I was in there when they were sampling Boursin cheese. This typically comes in a small package. Trader Joe's was asking $3.00 and some change for it. The same day I saw the exact same cheese at Giant Eagle for $7.00 and some change. I have never found an item there that was not quality and that I did not like. I love this store. The help is always friendly and courteous. I love that it is a small store, but make a point to avoid it on weekends because it can get crowded. I never have trouble with over crowding on week days. Whole Foods is for yuppies. Trader Joe's is for real people. read more

Always a great experience here. Employees are so well trained, helpful and cheerful, and they offer a great variety of unique products that I cannot get anywhere else. The lower-sugar blueberry preserves are tasty, and pancakes are never the same without their multi-grain pancake mix. I just can't get past 3-STARS for Trader Joe's. I feel A-OK for some pop-in shopping. My most consistent take-away is Turkey Jerky which they carry in several brands. Trader Joe's does have a tasty pre-sealed oatmeal (frozen) which is very handy. I'm not a wine consumer and that's where my friend's recommendations come in - they seem to find better than average wine for very solid, low prices. Trader Joe's offers quality produce and a selection of snacks, frozen goods and other things that are unique. My view from 10,000 feet is my shopping must be of the boring nature because I just don't get amp'd up to visit Trader Joe's unless I'm heading home from work (which it is on the way home if I decide to take 161 out of Dublin); the turkey jerky can call to me. read more

For years I passed this store and always figured it would be so downsize because of the type of food they carry, healthy, organic, etc. and then I was pulled in by a friend, and realized this place is the best. Everything is so cheap and so quality. I love love their fresh flowers section too. A dozen roses for 4 or 5 bucks! Trader Joes has been a favorite since moving to Cbus from Phoenix. They have some of the best deals on organic fruits/veggies, cheeses & meats, fair-trade coffee and other specialty grocery items. A few of my favs: "Smashed 'Nanas" - dehydrated full bananas. None of the sugared, hard-as-rock banana chips you find elsewhere. For less than $2, they are like fruit roll-ups for grown-ups. Charles Shaw Shiraz - They only started carrying this in the "Two-Buck Chuck (now really $3-4)" category last year and it's not a bad Aussie Shiraz. Good for just having around the house. Frozen and packaged meals- It's hard to find frozen or easy-to-make prepackaged meals that aren't full of preservatives and sodium. They have a nice selection for what you'd pay for any of your Lean Cuisine-type of dishes. Costa Rica Terrazu coffee - Cute cardboard package, good coffee. And I lived 11 km from that plantation in college. Close to my heart. :) read more

I really wish this store was bigger. My wallet is extremely thankful that it is not. There is so much great stuff crammed into a tiny space that it can be hard to fathom at points. And, It's almost always jam packed with other shoppers which can make for a fun trip. The staff is top notch; not only do they know the products they sell very well but they are extremely friendly. While I generally go to the Easton location, being the day before Christmas Eve, I decided to give Dublin a shot.... As I scoured the aisles for Christmas appetizers, I was pleased that almost everything I wanted was in stock! While the store was super congested, the employees were so helpful and friendly to find everything I needed. They even recommended a few new items which i was really happy I tried!! Some of the things were not in stock and they gave me the reasoning behind the production shortage or the seasonal availability...every time I stop in Trader Joe's I feel as if the next experience could not be better, but then they surprise me and they top themselves!! I have heard that Trader Joe's was the "healthy" grocery alternative to Whole Foods. The main reason being that the prices were generally cheaper. I will have to agree that for the most part, this is true. This can probably be attributed to the size of the store. One can take this Trader Joe's location and nest it comfortably in the Whole Foods down the street. Now on with the review. This particular location is located on the business sprawl that it Sawmill Road in Northwest Columbus. Mind you, this Trader Joe's has its fair share of lumbersexuals prowling the aisles for the latest kale product. In comparison to other Trader Joe's, it is no different. Layout is the same, product is the same, weird parking lot with no way to easily get to it from Sawmill Northbound is typical. So I can really wow you with any mind-blowing review cliches. Five stars because I love Trader Joe's. Especially their gummy penguins with the marshmallow tummies. read more

Traders Joe's is my favorite store. The staff are always fun, friendly, and go above and beyond to help me. The produce is always fresh and cheaper than bigger grocery stores. We buy a lot of Gluten Free foods and they offer a very large variety that doesn't break the bank. I always buy myself some flowers that last well over a week and then there is the wine!! I LOVE Trader Joes. When I go to Whole Foods I thoroughly enjoy my experience but walk out with $100 in groceries that fit into 1 or 2 bags and then end up only eating half of the food before it goes bad. This does not happen at TJ. They have an amazing frozen food selection for those times when you want something that tastes good or something that is good for you. I love their Lamb Vindaloo, the chicken strips, and almost any pizza they have. Wine selection is fantastic and so many of them are in my still paying student loans budget. I wish all the traditional grocery stores were magically replaced w/ TJ's! What's not to love about my imaginary culinary hubby named Joe!?!? Fresh assortment of bountiful flowers for FOUR BUCKS!?!? Hell yeah! Guys, do yourself a favor and pick your girl up flowers from here instead of Kroger of Giant Eagle. TRUST ME. I could write a mile long list of my favorite things at TJ's but the problem is I am constantly discovering new favorites. Here are a few of my recommendations: 1. Green Plant Juice (in the juice aisle, not in the refrigerated section). This stuff looks like satan's piss but I swear it's actually delicious. Great alternative to OJ in the morning if you want something different or can't handle OJ's acidity. Also, green juices are super trendy in Hollywood so I always feel super chic drinking it. Bonus. 2. Mache (aka Lamb's Lettuce). This stuff makes salads more visually interesting and spruces up boring spinach and romaine lettuces. 3. Shredded cabbage - I love a good crunch to my salad 4. Sweet Potato Chips - chips w/ 3 grams of fiber per serving AND super low sodium - best chips ever. You can pretty much eat the entire bag in one sitting without feeling guilty. 5. Brownies w/ Sea Salt - heat these suckers up in the microwave for a few seconds, top w/ TJ's vanilla ice cream and a variety of your favorite berries. ON ANOTHER PLANET. 6. Pretty much EVERYTHING in the frozen food aisle. Always discovering new yummy things here. Even though TJ's is generally preservatives free, you still need to read your food labels. I find myself putting things back down because of all the fat and/or salt per serving :( I rarely eat whatever item is packaged that I purchase by itself - you can incorporate a lot of these pre-prepared meals/dishes into your own made up recipes (typically w/ other TJ's products, duh). 7. AND LASTLY you MUST try the low sodium, gluten free butternut squash soup. It's right below the regular butternut squash soup but is healthier and costs like 30 cents more (ummm shouldn't it cost less if there's less salt in it??) I love all the wonderful things Joe comes up with. Not to mention, the employees here are some of the nicest you'll ever encounter. The Easton location has a raffle program for when you bring in your own bag you fill out a ticket w/ your name and # and they do a weekly drawing for a gift card. Imagine if TJ's had a card and gas program like Kroger/Giant Eagle - these are the things I day dream about. read more

I love shopping at Trader Joe's and only reason I gave 3 star rating, is so maybe this will be viewed by management. As a constructive input, I would like to say that it's absolutely driving me crazy, when shelves are being stocked at the opening of the store on weekends. This is very small store and navigating with the cart when there is a few people is challenging . In addition to this the floors are being scrubbed with the scrubber, which is adding more to the traffic. Could you do those tasks before you open the doors, which would definitely improve the shopping experience? read more

I like Trader Joe's, don't get me wrong. It is a place where you can buy fresh products and not the over-processed food you get anywhere else. My point is, it was hard for me to find based on my food intolerances the food I need. The signs for gluten-free could be a little big bigger e.g. at the bread shelf it took me a while to find the gluten-free bread. In other stores they usually offer a complete gluten-free section. Here at Trader Joe's you will find the stuff at the same section as the regular stuff is, so keep your eyes open and you will find what you need. read more

I usually shop at the Trader Joe's at Easton but decided to shake things up a bit and give the Dublin location a try. Big mistake! Even though this one looked equally big (or bigger) than the one at Easton, there were a lot of products that they didn't carry or that were out of stock. For example, they didn't have freeze-dried strawberries (only blueberries), vanilla soy creamer, or the big tubs of strawberry yogurt. The produce also looked a lot worse than what is carried at Easton. If you have a choice, go to the one at Easton, because it is ten times better. read more

I would spend a ton of money here if I had it. The groceries seem to be of reasonable quality and priced appropriately -- sort of a compromise between the cheapy range of Meijer groceries and the certified stamped labeled expense of Whole Foods. The frozen food section alone can provide meals for a month, between the veggies, fruit, fish and meat as well as the prepared items like burritos, dumplings, and pasta. This is great for me since sometimes I like to go all out in cooking, and other times I just want to throw something in the microwave and veg. The store brand soy and rice milks are inexpensive and available in multiple flavors. The soy yogurt is not something I'm a fan of, though. As noted by David W., the tea selection is excellent -- I'm partial to the red rooibos chai. I've also tried the spicy chai mix, which is tasty in small quantities. The snacks are dangerous! You will end up buying and eating whole tubs of cookies if you're not careful. The store is pretty small, the parking lot is awkward (though not as bad as the Easton lot), and it's way out in the suburbs, so it's a bit of a hike coming from anywhere that's not Dublin, really. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely make a stop, but I'm not making a trip especially to come here. I really wish they would plop one down in one of these empty lots in the Short North (though at the rate of construction in the area, we may run out of empty lots soon). read more

My only gripe is that some things are hard to find and I feel like the store gets switched around a lot. As a pseudo health nut on a budget, I can always find my weekly lunch and dinner staples- plus a few extras including great wine at even better prices and beautiful florals. Trader Joe's is owned by the same German company that owns Aldi's. So it has the same high efficiency layout and feel but much more upscale. Good store brand items at a great cost. Nice alternative to Whole Paycheck but has far fewer items and is a much smaller store. That said you can do your weekly grocery shopping there and not break the bank. read more

As a vegetarian I would struggle to survive w/o a trader joes in Columbus. I'm here like clockwork but it's a healthy dependency, always well stocked, seasonal items, and those samples... The staff is great from start to finish and the place just feels good. If you've never been it's an escape from the over-hyped high priced health food-stores that prey on the transitioning shopper. My advice? Pace yourself, experiment, & try what appeals to you. There are plenty of other reviews listing the best stuff on the shelves so I'll give you just one, the beef-less ground beef!
