Better quality and specialty produce and grocery foods at this location. If you're looking for niche foods for gourmet cooking, Weiland's is a great place to check. Locally owned and operated since 1961. This is one of the places where I get fresh Georgia peaches when the trucks come up from the south in the Summer. OHLQ liquor store on site, which occasionally has good and diverse offerings for the beer, wine and spirits connoisseurs.

If I lived in Columbus, this would be a regular stop for me. This reminds me of what a grocery store used to be like before they became football field size repositories for tens of thousands of unique items. I came here a few years ago in search of some harder to find bottles of alcohol, and the liquor section in the back of the store surely delivers on some of the more rare spirits. Prices are competitive with the industry and are sometimes way lower for the super rare items. The staff is helpful and engaging if you have any questions on things. I walked around the grocery section as well and other than the diagonal aisles being annoying, they have a lot of items packed into this seemingly small store. I'll surely be back and make sure I have checked luggage so I can bring a bottle or two home on the plane.

What a great Market. Everything is a high-quality sortiment and a big selection. Driving 14 miles to shop here is well worth it...

Decided while I was out yesterday to pick up some pepperoni for pizza making this weekend. The is only one place to go in Columbus for pepperoni. That's Weiland's!!! Why you say. Because they are the only one that sells Ezzo's cup and char pepperoni unless you want to order from Penn Mac or travel to their store in Pennsylvania. Ezzo's pepperoni is the top of the line. You won't get anything better. I typically come here once a week for it or some of their deli meats which a lot are sourced from the Amish area of Ohio. Another reason to come here is the employees, all are super friendly and there to help you. So if you want that old fashioned feeling of grocery shopping, check them out.

I can't believe I haven't been here sooner. Glad I finally made it over. It's a cool little specialty market with a liquor store, deli, seafood counter and meat counter. They also have tons of wines and snacks. I was not in love with either the prepared deviled eggs or the smoked trout dip, but I would return just for the selection of unique cheeses. They also have a huge selection of baked goods and carry Der Dutchman pies of all varieties. Prices are higher than grocery store shopping, but that is to be expected.

    Cheese selection.

I took a tour of Swainway as part of an extracurricular club at my work a few years back. I learned…read morea lot about composting, urban gardening, growing your own food, how natural farming is by nature designed to be self sufficient and is better than our nation's single-crop farm approach, along with lots of other tidbits. Mr. Swain grows all kinds of vegetables and herbs, but his number one product, the thing for which he is known, is mushrooms. While I've seen plenty of urban gardens with leafy and vine plants, I'd never seen a mushroom farm, and it was really cool! They are grown in little dirt plots that are actually not in the ground at all. He grows them on shelves and they sprout out of the dirt in 360 degrees. Another trick I learned was to keep two compost piles. Most gardeners will tell you to keep weeds and other unsavory, yet still compostable, items out of your compost heap. Mr. Swain has two - one tumbler style composter to speed things up, and then a giant compost pile at the back of his property where he just tosses whatever else he doesn't want to put in the composter. I've followed suit and done the same thing. I have a compost bin from Eartha outside my back door where I put stuff from the house, both brown and green items, as well as grass clippings. But at the back of my property, probably to my neighbors' dismay, I have a big pile where I just toss weeds, branches and other stuff I wouldn't want in the bin. although it's mostly just weeds and branches. He doesn't use any pesticides. Doesn't need them. By rotating his crops and growing something different in each plot after every harvest, pests never take root. This is how it was meant to be...literally. It's things like our government subsidies and companies marketing their products that have led to a one-crop structure that requires pesticides. Folks, I tell ya, that's JUST THE BEGINNING. But I'll hit the word limit if I keep it up. So moral of the story is, buy this guy's shit down at the Clintonville Farmers Market. He's rad.
