So we were here for a yelp event at Winston's and get there early and decided to walk around and I'm so glad we did! Now as this was our first time here and we was so taken back by the throw back feel of the place! It gave me small town vibes! I instantly missed home walking into this grocery store! EVERYTHING WAS CLEAN AND NEAT! nothing was picked over and smelled so fresh! Until u got to the meat section then the seafood section was over whelming! But there is a spirits section and a local pop section and then local bakery! We seen the deli section and tried EVERYTHING! we took home so potato salad and the broccoli salad stuff can't remember what it was but it's good! lol They had a lot of prepared foods to but a bit over priced but available! Cute store! Only 5 lanes and 2 lanes open! They did take apple and Samsung pay! The cashiers don't really talk and the workers in the back were really nice and answered all of outlet questions! Updated review - again no Tuna - per a worker - they ONLY get TUNA on Thursday's and don't even think about stocking it except for Thursday because otherwise it rots,,,? But - It's Tuesday so... Maybe lower your super-high prices (Like $35+ per pound) for Tuna. Maybe you will sell more and actually have some in-stock in case one of your customers want some. I think a "Gourmet Super Market" should stock some gourmet fish - Like TUNA :-) I can buy Salmon anywhere less expensively. I don't know why I keep going back - I guess it's the thrill of the chase now. Edit: I just saw Dan's response. This is a small local market with a liquor store attached to it. If you want a decent butcher shop you come here. Beyond that the variety of different food items falls short. The service is good. But the prices here are astronomical. I come from a small rural town, and even our prices aren't that expensive. For me in desperation I would come here, otherwise it's a hard pass. read more

Weiland's for the Thanksgiving win! Usually my family goes out for Thanksgiving dinner but this year we decided to give Weiland's prepared turkey dinner a shot and it was well worth it! We picked up our 4 meal pre-portioned box on Wednesday afternoon and I was honestly dreading the process and how busy it would be the day before Thanksgiving. Weiland's made it a seamless pickup with a designated area for pre-orders. We were in and out with wine (recommended by their sommelier!) in 15 minutes. We got both dark and white meat turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls and butter for 4 adults for under $100 and even had leftovers for Black Friday breakfast! And it was so delicious and "home cooked!" It all came in reheatable containers with detailed instructions to warm up your feast. Weiland's is a community gem and I'm so glad we tried their Thanksgiving dinner this year. Sign us up for next year! read more

Locally owned and operated since 1961. This is one of the places where I get fresh Georgia peaches when the trucks come up from the south in the Summer. If I lived in Columbus, this would be a regular stop for me. This reminds me of what a grocery store used to be like before they became football field size repositories for tens of thousands of unique items. I came here a few years ago in search of some harder to find bottles of alcohol, and the liquor section in the back of the store surely delivers on some of the more rare spirits. Prices are competitive with the industry and are sometimes way lower for the super rare items. The staff is helpful and engaging if you have any questions on things. I walked around the grocery section as well and other than the diagonal aisles being annoying, they have a lot of items packed into this seemingly small store. I'll surely be back and make sure I have checked luggage so I can bring a bottle or two home on the plane. read more

Decided while I was out yesterday to pick up some pepperoni for pizza making this weekend. The is only one place to go in Columbus for pepperoni. That's Weiland's!!! Why you say. Because they are the only one that sells Ezzo's cup and char pepperoni unless you want to order from Penn Mac or travel to their store in Pennsylvania. Ezzo's pepperoni is the top of the line. You won't get anything better. I typically come here once a week for it or some of their deli meats which a lot are sourced from the Amish area of Ohio. Another reason to come here is the employees, all are super friendly and there to help you. So if you want that old fashioned feeling of grocery shopping, check them out. read more

It seems like everywhere I go these days has someone campaigning for something. I'm not against social justice, but when I can't even go to my favorite festivals, restaurants, or grocery stores without getting a clipboard shoved in my face, I see a problem. Weilands has always had a wide variety of foods that make dinner for me and my family easy, but if I have to deal with aggressive clipboarders doing a food drive or asking me to volunteer, that convenience is lost. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner. Glad I finally made it over. It's a cool little specialty market with a liquor store, deli, seafood counter and meat counter. They also have tons of wines and snacks. I was not in love with either the prepared deviled eggs or the smoked trout dip, but I would return just for the selection of unique cheeses. They also have a huge selection of baked goods and carry Der Dutchman pies of all varieties. Prices are higher than grocery store shopping, but that is to be expected. read more

I'd say Weiland's is is a hidden gem of Clintonville, but I think everyone knows about it - so let's just call it a gem. They have it all - a phenomenal selection of fresh meats, prepared meals (fresh and frozen), hard-to-find specialty items (I was excited to find some fancy imported pasta sauce I hadn't seen before), cheeses, desserts from local bakers... I could go on. My husband is a huge fan of the beer selection (now in its own room - an expansion I believe took place in the last decade), and their wine selection is quite renowned. (Non-drinker over here, so not many specifics to share.) There are things I wouldn't go to Weiland's for - fresh produce (what they have is good, they just don't have much) and anything budget-conscious (...they're expensive). I did make it back after Christmas, when things were a bit more normal. Good protocols, two lines for checkout that keep people apart. I got some little things for a trip, and headed to the liquor store (not for the trip...) I was looking for something unusual, and they have a great selection but did not have it. They pointed me to several other possible stores, and to ohlq.com, where you can search products. Super helpful. Weiland's has been a wonderful near by locally owned gem during the pandemic. Most of the trips I have taken there have been to get bourbon, whiskey, vodka, or a bottle of cava but, each trip I have snagged some great food items that I haven't been able to get through my other grocery shopping. Throughout the pandemic, their premade food case has been filled with delicious ready to eat meals. Honestly, Weiland's has been one of the only shopping establishments that I have felt comfortable frequenting since the start of the pandemic. As a company they have been exceedingly responsible with mask required (staff & customers), store capacity kept in check, dividers placed at the registers, cleaning, and so forth. read more

It's a nice little market that's convenient if you live in the neighborhood, but you wouldn't want to shop here weekly for a family as it's quite over priced. I know it's going up everywhere but none as steep as Weilands. It's like a mini Whole Foods. Visiting my daughter who lives within walking distance, I've been here several times in the last few months. It's got 4 or 5 short aisles with the basics but with imported or "artisan"selections. It gives you the impression that there products are of better quality, though I thinks that's debatable. There's some produce and they looked fresh, a nice butcher and a decent seafood counter. On our last visit we decided to grill some steaks and got a angus ribeye and NY strip. They had some hangar steak that was marinated in their proprietary marinade. Just a note to butchers, the best way to ruin a steak is to marinate it. I guess it's okay if it's poor quality meat. Anyway simply seasoned, the steak was just okay. I don't know if angus offers select grade cuts, but by the taste that's what I assume it was. If it was choice it wasn't labeled as such. The highlight of Weilands are the prepared meals which are good and it's little liquor store which has a nice selection of wines, spirits and craft beers. Weilands a nice little market with quality products but a bit too pricey. Its more a 4 star market but their prices brings it down a notch. read more

I've never had better tuna salad than the $14/lb "BEST" tuna salad (with Bacon, Egg, Scallion, and Tomato). Everything here is expensive but they car a wide selection of eccentric or otherwise exotic or imported food items you can't find at Kroger, Meijer, or Giant Eagle. If you need something unusual or extra gourmet without the prevention or ungodly marking up of stupid items like asparagus water a la Whole Foods, you can feel good spending your dollars here. They're always well staffed and friendly. This is a very sincere neighborhood grocery! PS they have black (blood sausage) and white pudding here in the frozen area- woo! read more

I thought this place was cool but after a run in with a woman that seemed to be the owner, I haven't been back since. She rudely rushed me out of the store. Mishandled my groceries. I was doing a grocery order for one of my clients... I work off of tips. She threw the groceries into the cart carelessly in her mad rush and smashed my clients bread. One of a personal shoppers worst nightmare is smashed bread. I went and got a new bag but will never forget the way I was treated. read more

I'm giving Weiland's Market 5 stars for their specialty cheese area that has a great selection of Ohio made cheeses. They even have a bin for cheese babies. A good way to try different cheeses without spending lots of money on a cheese you may not like. They also offer great accoutrements such as jams, nuts, olives, and crackers. I would say Weiland's is the perfect place to go to get all the makings for an incredible charcuterie board. They even have a phenomenal selection of cured meats. Weiland's is a great locally owned market that also offers tons of local products. If you have not been in yet just to walk around I suggest you make time to do that. Quality, variety, excellent service. I was looking for a few very specific items. Not only did they stock them - but expertise in finding them and the joy of browsing the store for my next visit was a delight. Produce was impeccable quality. The specialty food items a delight. I can only explain thinking for a moment they stocked only wine and beer to thinking I found a single, small aisle with liquor and liqueurs to rounding the corner and finding an entire room was like entering a factory run by Willy Wonka; but for adults. This market is right next to the gym I go to, and I do like it, but I hate the high prices. You'd think this would be in a richer neighborhood with the high prices. $1.80 per orange? $3 for one iceberg lettuce? It's a nice little market, but too expensive for my blood. There's a Kroger less than half a mile away. The two stars are for their great beer and wine selection. Also, they have a variety of salsa dip. Expensive too, but it's nice. They do also have a variety of meals on the go. And they aren't too outrageous in price. Would I do my regular grocery shopping here? No. Would I buy beer here? Yes. read more

I have been coming to the store for years and years and never had bad experience until recently. The last few times I came, I experience very rude Customer Service. They rush and are short with you even when they are not busy. My main issues is with the cashiers. Today was the last straw when the cashier was extremely rude to me when I just asked for an extra bag because she ripped open the bag with my vegetables in it. She just snapped at me and said she had to get the price. I didn't ask what she were doing. I just asked for a second bag and I was nice about it. So they wouldn't be loose and exposed. Then I got my bags and said thank you. I wasn't told have a good day and she proceeded to talk trash about me to the customer who was after me. As I was putting my cart away, he looked up at me and gave me a I'm sorry look. You would think with their prices raising even more and how expensive it is to shop there they would give better customer service. read more

Weiland's is a foodie's grocery fantasy. If you don't do a lot of cooking, you probably won't appreciate the majesty. The back of the store is lined with deli counters featuring pre-made salads, meats, xl dill pickles (my in-store snack pre-covid), and more. It's all fresh and delicious. If I was short on time and wanted to pass off a side dish as my own at a potluck where I wanted to impress, Weiland's would be my tasty little secret. But I'd never do such a thing! The shelves are full of organic, local, and artisan options. Great cheeses, Snowville milk, and a state liquor store to boot! But my favorite part of Weiland's has to be the seafood counter for one specific reason. They house smoke their own salmon and it is hands down the most satisfying smoked salmon I have ever had in my life, and consistently so. It's not thin raw slabs like you'd have on a lox bagel, but flaky, oily, and melts in your mouth. It's one of the most decadent snacks ever. They also do a house smoked trout that is great, and I'll absolutely get some if they're out of salmon, but really nothing compares! Don't expect a cheap grocery run at Weiland's, expect an artisan food experience. read more

If you've read my other reviews, you know how I hate to pay for overpriced stuff. I prefer to stick to cheaper places, but it makes a difference when the items are worth extra cost. This is the case at Weiland's. It's a specialty store containing a lot of hard to find items. The service is superior to the chain stores. I am usually buying something I hadn't planned on when I visit Weiland's. It has a tremendous beer and wine selection; the best I've seen around. They have a good selection of craft beers. It has a whole other section of the store with only alcohol. There are some good prices on wines and there's several organic selections. It depends on what you buy. There's some crafts for $5 to $6 a bottle. It also has a good amount of OYO. There's many other local brands. It's an overall well kept store. They are also independent and locally owned. I hate chains so I want to see this place do well. They don't have a lot of cheap items but everything in the produce section looks fresh. I recommend Weiland's to anyone who likes independent and locally owned stores. It has okay prices and friendly service makes it worth it. I enjoy this market and the staff. Definitely known locally and Clintonvillains love it. Pretty good prepared foods section and the state-registered liquor agency needs to be known by more people. Prices are not bad on most things. Some things I can get for free and see they charge for, so glad I have connections in high-costing foods. Let's start with the cheese department...I am in awe of every cheese they sell but the 2 of my favorite Ohio Cheesemakers are Osage Lane Creamery and Black Radish Creamery! Black radish has many home made preserves but the "Billionaire" is the BEST! Description says it all... "Ohio Grown Strawberries And Rhubarb Preserved With A Beaujolais Wine Reduction & Organic Vanilla Bean" Billionaire and some goat cheese with your favorite crackers makes a perfect start to your dinner party! All of the preserves are spectacular, as well.. Another department I pay a lot of attention to is the deli.. I adore the buffalo chicken, black forest ham, and roast beef... Most brands they carry are healthier options; including Boars head which is filler and gluten free...something for everyone! The fresh produce is very alluring because it is up front and very convenient to eat healthy on the go.. which I always am... on the go.. The homemade dips are very tasty and perfect for a quick appetizer or heading to a party and you haven't had time to make a dish...I also love the ready made meals which change daily; tuna noodle casserole, chicken and noodles, meatloaf and gravy.. just to name a few.. And obviously the winner here is the WINE department! If you ever have a chance to go to one of their wine tastings.. please do.. I have found wines here that I literally can not find anywhere else.. and they are priced just right.. regardless if you are a fan of white or red wine.. they have something just perfect for you! read more

This market is so cute! They have a nice variety of products. They carry a lot of items you wouldn't see in typical, large grocery stores. The prices are affordable. The people are very nice as well. My favorite thing to get here is Adesso wine (not many stores in Columbus have it). They have a wonderful selection of wine from all over the world! read more

We don't shop here much, but it is a decent place to find specialty items and different things than the chain stores offer. If you're after routine items like milk, produce, pet food, and box dinners, go to the chain stores; they'll be much cheaper. If you're after local-grown produce or odd items or smaller brands, Weilands might have them. (Seriously, they sell major-brand cheap pet food at a higher cost than their competitors. Even the nearby IGA on Oakland is better-priced. You'd think with billing themselves as a specialty grocery, they'd offer specialty pet food brands. But I digress.) With that said, buyer beware. We've caught them twice now in substituting cheaper cheese for a more-expensive brand -- unfortunately, we didn't catch the sub until the cheese had been grated or sliced, which was too late to return it. Specifically, what they label as "parmesan reggiano" IS NOT PARMESAN REGGIANO. It tastes NOTHING like real PR, and I'm guessing it's either asiago or a mild romano -- maybe a domestic parmesan from Wisconsin -- but it's not the real Parmesan Reggiano. The real PR has a very distinctive flavor & a hard, dark-yellow rind with "parmesan reggiano" engraved into it. Some stores cut the rinds off & sell them separately, as most folks will throw them away anyway (tip: simmer the rinds in spag sauce), and that's ok, BUT that rind is the ONLY way to be sure that's the real deal, without opening the package and tasting before you buy. Weilands, of course, didn't have the rind in the package. That didn't set off any red flags with us at first, for reasons stated above. BUT the cheese in question was the wrong texture/consistency (real PR is a semi-hard cheese that grates easily; what we got was distinctly softer), wrong smell, and wrong taste. In other words, WEILANDS WRAPPED A CHEAPER CHEESE AND SOLD IT AT THE HIGHER REAL-PR PRICE. TWICE. TWICE. The first time might have been a labeling mistake. We didn't want to accuse a store we liked of fraud, either. But the second time, a month later? No. That's deliberate. By International Law, only one type of cheese can be sold as Parmesan Reggiano, and that's the stuff straight from Italy, which is NOT what Weiland's is labeling and selling. Shame on you, Weilands. We're not regular customers, but you've still lost our business. read more
