Use up your gas perks. Announcement July 1 2026 that Krogers has bought ALL THE EAGLES and because of overlap here in Ohio, they expect to close stores. Expect this to happen in 2027. This Gahanna Store was the first in Central Ohio. As a Pittsburgh native,I would happily drive here until they opened other stores. Krogers for me is at best 3 stars with 0 stars for it's bakery. read more

Came here to check this location out as my stores manager got transferred here. Its too big for me. Sore was clean. Prices at Giant Eagle are a tad high due t their gas program. People who think they get free gas just pay for it inside the store with the higher prices, imo. As far as quality of food and groceries... kind of like my Market District a few miles north more than this one. read more

I really like this location. I can find items that other grocery stores don't have. They stock regularly and eliminated expired goods timely. Their bakery also has the best cakes. I get my birthday cakes from here ONLY as they are so tasty. The only downside is lack of staff at the registers. Sometimes i don't talk to check myself out and bag myself. It's a lot of work for this old man when I have a larger order. But for small in and out orders, I love this place. NOTE: They require a membership card to purchase which is odd (since it's not a membership type of store), but not a deal breaker. read more

If I could rate the bakery 0 stars I am highly upset!!!! I came in last night and bought a cake for my birthday party today! when I went to the bakery and asked for a marble black and yellow 8 sheet cake. One of the team members helped me out and got the cake out the glass & tagged my cake as marble. Today I have the party and cut into the cake & it's a white almond cake !!!!! HIGHLY UPSETTING ! And completely ruined my party... nobody wanted a piece of cake. This experience made me not never want to purchase another giant eagle cake or recommend purchasing for anyone else !! COMPLETE WASTE OF MY MONEY! read more

OMG. All I can is WHAT IDIOTS! The one thing I really (generally) like about Giant Eagle is their reduced bag of bananas. Anyone familiar with the concept knows that the paper bag filled with overly ripe/bruised bananas has the intention of easily selling unwanted bananas and recouping some value - the bag is sold for $.99. I was here mid-afternoon I think on a weekday which I had taken off work. I had grabbed 6 bags of reduced bananas. I freeze them individually (unpeeled) then toss in gallon zip lock bags to snack on and use in smoothies. The riper the better. I have NEVER had a problem having them rung up on properly at the self-checkout registers. UNTIL THIS DAY. GE has new reduced banana bags that did not have the bar code printed or otherwise affixed to it. So I didn't even try to self-checkout. I went to the one register open. I explained the situation and let the cashier know the bananas were 99 cents a bag. She had never heard of the notion and called over back up (another clueless clerk). They tried to figure this out and called over a manager. I - again - explained how GE sells reduced bananas and that they were 99 cents a bag. The manager explains how to ring them up to the clerk and I figure we're good to go. Meanwhile, a line is forming behind me (it's still the only register open). The 6 bags are rung up (she weighed each one and entered numbers) - and a grand total of almost $36 shows on the register. The clerk looks to be to pay. I ask - are you charging me almost $36?! She says yes. She had rung them up as 99 cents A POUND. I nicely explain - AGAIN - they are 99 cents a BAG. She says they are 99 cents a pound. I tell her GOOD bananas are 59 cents a pound. I tell her these are borderline rotten bananas they are trying to offload. She call the manager back over. They talk some more - the line gets longer. By this point I've been standing there about 20 minutes as they try and determine how to ring up the 99 cent a bag bananas. The clerk starts all over again and begins to weigh the bags. I stop her and say - before you go any further, how do you plan to charge me this time. She says 40 CENTS A POUND. I said never mind and turned and headed out the door. Meanwhile, a LONG line of people had to deal with the clerk trying to figure out how to clear the register. Going forward, I have saved a bar code from another Giant Eagle where I recently bought bags of reduced bananas for 99 CENTS A BAG to use at this store in case they do not have accurately priced banana bags with bar codes when I return - IF I RETURN. As I began - idiots. How can 3 employees (ALL VERY YOUNG) - including a manager - not know the price of reduced bananas or a way to accurately find it! I pity the people that have to work for and rely on the 3 stooges - clearly not something I could do= ever again. read more

My 5 star rating for Giant Eagle is long over due. The grocery store is a notch above their competitors in quality, staffing and convenience. I come to this location OFTEN. The employees even know who I am along with my family. It makes me feel good to have them acknowledge me by name and take personal interest in me and my well being. Obviously its reciprocated and I take interest in all. The pandemic has changed my regular appearances and I have ordered pick up this evening. The best experience ever! I downloaded the app, made my order and picked a time slot for pick up. My personal shopper texted me when they were picking my order to keep me informed on any substitute or out of stock orders. I appreciated the communication along the way and the ease of order to find the things I needed. The experience will never replace picking out your own items but sure does make it easy. I alerted them prior to my arrival so they could be prepared when I got there. I pulled up to the designated parking in front of the store, popped my trunk and they loaded the groceries in the trunk. Touch less contact! I do miss seeing everyone's smiling faces, however, this is an option that I will use from time to time based on my busy schedule. I am a forever fan of Giant Eagle. read more

I use the Giant Eagle pharmacy on a regular basis and here's why. It's conveniently located in my neighborhood. They have a drive-thru that allows me to pick up my prescriptions without requiring me to go into the store. I can go into the store if I need to pick up other items but I try not to. They send me a text asking me if I want to refill a prescription and I can choose yes or no and can normally pick up my order in less than 24 hours. It's on an automatic refill so I don't have to remember to reorder it myself. I get points for all of my prescriptions which go towards free gas! I even earn points on some of my prescriptions that are free! Now THAT is pretty cool! So yeah, that's why I like to use the Giant Eagle Pharmacy! read more

This is not the location we usually go to because of the traffic/construction on Hamilton Road. We usually go to the New Albany location but we were in the area so decided to stop. This a slightly bigger store. Produce was fresh. Great meat selection and good prices. Employees all very nice and helpful. Our main complaint was that they were completely out of the breakfast sandwiches we came for but that was easily taken care of with a rain check read more

When Giant Eagle first came to Columbus and replace many of the empty Big Bears, I have to admit that I was somewhat intimidated. Giant Eagle was such a stark difference from Big Bear or even most of the old Kroger. It was so new, so clean, so nice. I wasn't used to such a highly decorated, aesthetically appealing grocery store. I'm used to the old, overly lit, bland colored grocery stores of yesteryear. Giant Eagle has definitely set the trend for upscale groceries. The other factor that bothered me a bit were the higher prices and the fact that I had to register for a bar code membership card. I'm not into Orwellian strategies in the private sector. I'm used to it from our government, but I still don't agree with it. I don't like "Big Brother" monitoring my every move including my shopping habits. Also, I don't like being forced to use a bar coded card to receive the discounts I would have received anyway without it. Well, all that's history now. Everybody has jumped on board (except Meijer's) and require bar coded cards to receive discounts on their food products. I'm not as apprehensive about the whole thing anymore, but it still stinks. I don't prefer Giant Eagle over Kroger or Meijer's, but it is a great alternative and I'm happy to have them around, especially since Big Bear went under. Giant Eagle has a tremendous product selection and value-added amenities like babysitting that really add to its competitive credibility. Plus, it's close to my home. That always helps. Go "Big Brother" Go! read more

I am basing this only on the pharmacy. I removed one star because the pharmacy entrance was closed for public entry. We primarily use this location for it's drive thru pharmacy window. Rarely to we go inside for groceries, unless in a pinch. The pharmacy professionals are always helpful and friendly. We find them helpful in sending the automated "prescription is ready for pick up" messages. Of course we use the rewards card for fuel discounts. I find that they almost always follow up on their promises(contact the Dr., Insurance, etc). On those rare occasions where they have asked us to come inside, is where I became miffed. The entrance has been locked, and you must use the front entrance. Apparently the story is theft deterrent. I don't see this neighborhood as a crime theft zone, but perhaps looks are deceiving. Problems-- If there is a problem that was their fault, it is not uncommon to find a gift card with an apology. If there is a problem that is your fault, expect kindness and understanding. We have received courtesy prescriptions to hold us until the problems are resolved. It would be difficult to be lured away, even if by prices. read more

I wanted something to eat quick so decided to visit my favorite grocery giant eagle to get ready made food, well didn't have any thing I wanted. I thought I found a good deal with a big box of chicken tenders on sale, got home warmed them up they were awful had to throw them out. The whole store was sad read more

This grocery store is great for all your needs! Super clean and always fresh foods right when you walk in I like how the gas station is right near it and not too crowded either. Shop here on a biweekly basis!! read more

Giant Eagle is one of the better grocery shopping experiences you can have around the Gahanna area. The produce is above average and the deli case has a few gourmet type hamburgers which go over great any time we grill out. They also have a kiddie playground and a large selection of kosher and international products. The store itself is well-lit and clean, and the staff is helpful. There are a few of my staples that they don't have (pepperoni Chef Boyardee pizza, anyone?) but for the most part you won't find a better selection around. read more

This Giant Eagle has some of the best selection of foods and products I've seen--Definitely preferred over the Kroger across the street! This is my go-to place for 85% of my grocery and generic housing needs. It's a standard Giant Eagle, but seems to have a larger selection of foods than most. Looking for a harder-to-find item? There's a good chance it will be here! My mom, who grew up in a small Appalachian town, went grocery shopping with me once and commented that she had never seen nor heard of some of things at this Giant Eagle! It has my mom's stamp of approval, so what more could you ask? Of all my grocery experiences, the staff at this particular location is especially helpful, friendly, courteous, and patient. It _feels_ good to shop here. read more

I've been shopping at this Giant Eagle for about 6 months. The store is clean and laid out well, but I'm getting frustrated with the curbside service. Over the past few weeks I've had to throw out two avocados, a pound of ground turkey, and two separately packaged pounds of ground chicken. Before that, I received a package of tartar sauce that was already expired. Another frustration is there is always a shortage of products available. Substitutions are usually available, but it would be nice if I was able to always get the products I'm looking for. The staff is friendly and I'm currently checking with the store management to see if they are willing to correct these recent issues. If this continues though, I'm considering switching the Kroger grocery that's across the street. UPDATE: The management never got back to me about these issues. The problems continued to be consistent and it didn't appear to be of concern to the managers. I've stopped participating in the curbside service and now do the grocery shopping myself. I've found this Giant Eagle to be unreliable in the products it offered and have since switched to the New Albany location. read more

It's a grocery store so you pretty much know what you're in for. There is another Giant Eagle about the same distance from my house as this one on Hamilton. However, I vastly prefer this location. Not only are the staff nicer but the store is laid out better and is much cleaner than the location on McCutcheon. Most grocery stores in the area have reasonably decent beer and wine departments. This one is a cute above the rest; whoever does the buying for this location has very good taste (IMO). Also, the pharmacy staff are beyond helpful and knowledgeable. I had issues with a particular generic prescription medicine and they bent over backwards to make sure that I don't accidentally end up with that one. Overall, it's a solid store. read more

Love the store!! One of the nicest grocery stores (chain) I've been in!! (Far better than we had in OKC). I know some reviewers are whining about the renovation, but hey folks, that even makes it better!!! I can deal with the temporary "mess" for the long term benefits!! read more

The produce here is horrible. I thought Kroger was bad but man I'd have better luck picking last years apples off the ground at an orchard! Every single time I try to get apples here, I'm reminded why I regretted it the last time. Always rock hard and rotten inside. So fuel perks or not, I might pick up a few odds and ends here if I absolutely have to but the produce section will be bypassed for sure. read more

It was my little ones birthday this weekend and we got a cake from Giant Eagle. We got the biggest one. $48 dollars later we got it to the birthday party and when slicing it came to find out the marble cake we we requested did not make it in the cake. It was not a huge deal but to us it meant we did not get what we asked for and of course it cannot be corrected. Not too sweet which makes it possible for a second peace if not watching your weight. read more

I usually love this place but had a cashier this morning on station # 1 that was very rude. I think her name was Martha. But , like I said, I have been shopping at this place for 10 years and really never had a bad experience read more

The store is the most cluttered grocery I've been in. Impossible to navigate with a cart. They have tons of stuff but you can't find things because of all of the pop up cardboard displays in every aisle. Go to the Kroger across the street and save yourself the hassle. read more

I really want to shop at this store for reasons mentioned in the other reviews, but I have hit my limit of empty shelves and offers of rainchecks. They order only enough stock to fill the shelf; when it's gone, you're out of luck for the day. They have no back stock nor do they restock their shelves during the day. I don't have time to hit the store three times in one week on the off chance that one of their daily seven boxes of Cascade is still left on the shelf. I've spoken to the managers more than once, and they've offered rainchecks. I literally cannot remember ever shopping there and finding everything I wanted on the shelves. The frustration has now exceeded anything positive about this store. Go to Krogers right across the street and enjoy the stocked shelves and better produce. read more
