I deducted star because an employee at customer service gave my husband a huge attitude, he asked politely if she knew when the Amazon machine may be working again as it was down and she said "I don't know and I don't care". I decided to cater Thanksgiving this year, since I recently had surgery. After looking around, I went with the Market District/Giant Eagle store in Solon. I got a13 lb turkey, stuffing, gravy, cornbread, sweet potatoes and mashed. It was bad! I was so embarrassed. First of all, the turkey (which was still somewhat frozen) had to be put in the oven for 2 1/2 hours, even though it's fully cooked! It only takes 3-3 1/2 hours to cook it from raw! The breast was less full than usual. The turkey browned okay, but the crisped skin tasted terrible. Apparently, they just shoved the turkey into the oven, no seasoning, no herbs, even salt or pepper! I wish they had said this upfront, I would've stopped right there. I added some salt and pepper, but it was too late then. Ok, at least I ordered gravy. Except the gravy was even worse. It was salty, but no other evidence of drippings, turkey broth or spices, onions, etc. It tasted like salty library paste, way too thick, and even hen I heated it up, it just stayed in its lumps. I had to get out the mixer and add milk in to get it anywhere near the right consistency. The gravy made everything it was used on worse. It was pretty much inedible. Again, if I had known what they meant by "gravy", I would have run the other way. The stuffing, also mostly unseasoned, had no flavor at all. at all, plus it was dripping wet. So disappointing. Moving on to the sides, I didn't try the mashed potatoes, maybe they were ok (except for no gravy!). The sweet potatoes were ok, also bland, no spice. They were "topped" by a scant handful of marshmallows and a scattering of pecans. I gathered them up and used them to top one serving! The green bean casserole was plain green beans with the crunchy onions on top. No mushroom sauce was included, that I could see. Definitely NOT a casserole. The two positives in the whole meal were the corn spoon bread and the citrus cranberry sauce. Market District did not provide much description on their items. But they did assure customers that they could put their feet up and let Market District do the cooking! They didn't mention that the cooks wouldn't have any idea how to cook a Thanksgiving meal. I want some of my money back. The only things worth their cost flavor-wise were the spoon bread, the cranberry sauce, and maybe the sweet potatoes. Only some of the turkey was palatable. The rest went in the garbage. Honestly, I won't waste my money here again. read more

I regularly do my grocery shopping at Giant Eagle Market District. It is always very clean and organized. They recently reorganized the store and provided customers with an updated list of where everything was and they had workers around the stores to help assist customers. They have a wide selection of options. I have a friend who is gluten free and she said their gluten-free section is one of the best in the area. The wine/liquor/beer section always has a wide variety of options as well. This Giant Eagle actually has their own bar and their carts have cupholders which allows customers to have a drink while they shop. Their fresh food options (sushi, homestyle cooking station, pizza and sub, and wok stations) are fantastic. The only drawback is the parking lot. Since this GE has such central location, it is busy pretty much all the time which makes the parking lot kind of a mess but there is nothing they can do about that. Their pharmacy is always fast and efficient as well. read more

I come here all the time during my lunch break from work. Today happened to be their grand opening of the Market District. Now the store is very neatly organized. Today they had the Cake Boss there, photo booths, samplings from most of the food departments with some live shows too. It's too bad I couldn't stay for all the excitement and to try all the different samples there. I was excited to have Starbucks samples!! Also they had a happy hour on all different drinks with the grand opening. I'm thinking this location is trying to be very similar to Giant Eagle's Kingsdale location with this new look. I hope it works for them because the layout of the store looks a lot better now. read more

This review is the for the PHo and the taste of the General Tso's chicken. Which were both AWESOME. I really really like the Pho here. 5.99 a bowl and tastes good. The price of the General Tso's chicken which goes by the pound is a very heavy thing is not so much. 3.50 for 2 heavy pieces that tasted awesome. I think this may be a new lunch spot. I keep finding these place I go to all the time and am sure I've reviewed, but it turns out I haven't. Hmm... Anyway, this is a nice, large Giant Eagle. The lot is a little wonky, so be careful entering, leaving, and driving through. The entry to the building is nice, the inside is bright and well-organized, there is a little lunch area by the bakery, and all in all it is an "experience" to come here. Service has always been great. Selection is good. Prices are slightly high, but not crazy. It is handy for me on the way to and from work, and I almost always end up here rather than at Kroger across the way. read more

So, this year we decided to skip the cooking and order a catered meal for Thanksgiving. What a great choice it was! We ordered the turkey breast bundle which came with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and rolls plus two additional sides. We arrived at our scheduled time to pick up and everything was ready to go for the big day. Everything was packaged to go from the fridge, to the oven to the table. Everything was precooked and needed only a warm up. The meal was advertised to serve 8, and the serving sizes were spot on. There were 4 of us, and the meal could easily have served 8. Giant Eagle Market District is a well stocked grocery store with plenty of selections. The produce has the staples and some more. The meat and seafood department is adequate with plenty of selections. Bakery is average with the selection available. The overall selection is above average, but nothing unique. In addition, the Giant Eagle Market District does have a few extras. There is Starbucks, Huntington Bank, Sushi, Wok and an hot food selection available. There is also an area where people may eat inside or outside. There were some people working as well in this area. Also, there was a 'Eagles Nest' for the kids while the parents shopped. The parking is a bit tight and chaotic at popular times, but is manageable. read more

Wow there pho beef out of there sizzle grill was amazing fresh awesome broth I tasted many flavors cinnamon the bean sprouts the cilantro the beef was tender the rice noodles tasted like it was at least A ten dollar meal but it was only 6.99 a huge heaping bowl I was really full but finished it the gentleman that we're making it took there time to make it and did a wonderful job a place I'd never expect to get pho from but I'll be coming there more often to get some hearty dinner/lunch great dish! read more

I really like that they made this a GE Marketplace as well, however it is lacking a bit in variety of choices. It's definitely not as good as the Kingsdale Marketplace, but it is definitely better than a lot of grocery stores. The layout of the store is much better than what it used to be. The area with the Starbucks is really nice and there's enough seating to make it feel like a real cafe, or a place you can eat a meal if you are on a break from work. The store is always clean and the staff is always really friendly. I do wish they had a bit more choice, though reading the other reviews it looks like I need to try the pizza and stir fry stations for a meal. However the salad bar and hot bar are not as impressive as I wish they would be. They remind more more of a regular GE and not a Marketplace. Good location, good layout, good grocery store. read more

This is by far the best/nicest Giant Eagle I've been in. Very clean and modern and located in the convenience location. The staff is nice and friendly. I used to like their Wednesday $5 sushi roll; however, their sushi quality (especially rice) has gone worse, and I stopped buying it. Other than that, my experience is good. read more

Wow! Customer service in the bakery department made me feel like I should drive to the nearest lake and drown myself. Most unfriendly service ever. And my request wasn't even difficult! Wanted the almond sheet cake on the bottom shelf (already made) and requested that "We will miss you!" Be written on it. Still should not have been difficult. It is ok as they have switched it to the Market District. It was not as nice as the Kingsdale area which is what I am comparing it to. The seating area by the Starbucks area is pretty nice which allows for a nice work area. They have a nice pizza making station but the salad and hot bar seemed to be a little minimal to me. Although, I am be comparing it to Whole Foods and Kingsdale. The place is nice and clean but the Mens restroom was missing a trash can. I found that to be very odd. I hope the attendant had just taken it out and was returning it soon. read more

I love this Giant Eagle, it has everything! The store is very clean and well organized. There is a lot of variety to their stock and it's always fresh. There's even a Starbucks inside and many great hot food choices if you decide to sit down for a meal. It may seem a little pricey, but if you check out their weekly sales (eg buy one streak get one free), plus their $0.20 off fuel perks for every $50 spent or for every $50 gift card you buy, it's really not that expensive. Only reason why I deducted a star is because every time I use the self checkout machine, at least one item will return with an error and I'd have to stand around waiting for someone to fix it. read more

The wine department is stocked very well. Found what I wanted the first time. Some wine tastings (4 for $6) are rather expensive. The food at the wine tastings is provided by a cheese lady, not by the wine department, and it is TOTALLY inappropriate for the wines. It is far too sweet to use to taste the dry wines served with them. What ever happened to soda crackers to cleanse the pallet? We used Market District Catering for a graduation party. We had a lovely brunch thanks to the food provided by Giant Eagle Market District Catering. The ordering process was wonderful as it also was consultative. We had fruit, croissant sandwiches, danishes, donuts and mini cupcakes. They even delivered the ice. All the food was excellent and a great value. Danishes and sandwiches were especially delicious, but it was all outstanding. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Will use them again! Wow! I was in the area and needed to pick-up some items before heading home. This is not my usual store, but I have come to appreciate the Giant Eagle stores more. This is a premier store! Great variety. Clean. Good layout. It reminded me of a Whole Foods, but then some. Prices are competitive and even more so when you use the Get Go rewards. I was able to find the items I needed without much difficulty. Staff were helpful particularly when I had trouble finding an item in the pharmacy area. Plenty of parking spaces available and easy to access. read more

Giant Eagle Market District stores are the creme del a creme to me. They offer up as many if not more choices up and down every aisle as Whole Foods Market (which I enjoy - yes) while giving buyers and shoppers their GET-GO discounts on gas. Yeah, some say Krogers and Turkey Hill are a better combo.... but if you're not getting cheaper gas somewhere by giving your money to a store like Giant Eagle... shamefu. Anyway,... I really like Giant Eagle's salad bar, hot plate foods and their sit-down areas for eating. EXAMPLE: On a Monday I had a large salad with a piece of grilled tuna with a side at a local restaurant. STICKER SHOCK! $27 (oh, that darn diet-coke charge). Tuesday I had salisbury steak, egg noodles, sauteed broccoli and cauliflower along with a small salad. $10.65 total. Hey kids! Wake the heck up. With tip my restaurant bill was $33. I can do Giant Eagle for 1/3 the cost and get hot food and a nice place to sit. The Perimeter Loop store is clean and huge; efficient layout too with the exception of the drugs/personal care area. But that doesn't sway me from 5-stars of good good good for Giant Eagle. read more
