    Awful nails

Awful, every time I go in to set my set redone, they are always crooked. The nails are never straight even after asking multiple times of what she's doing will make them straight. I ask to get my nails straight and ask for a new set of needed and the same lady never does the new set, feels like she's being lazy.

    Crooked eyelashes

Do NOT come here for eyelashes. I went to see Tracy twice for eyelash extensions. The first time looked nice, great price and she finished quickly. It was my first time getting eyelashes and I thought how awesome! However, in less than two weeks, the lashes were coming out in clumps and ripping off my natural lashes. I had literal bald spots. I thought maybe I did something wrong, this being my first time. So I went back to get a new set. I noticed right away that my eyelashes were crooked and uneven, with an obvious bump in the lashes. This was so embarrassing, I went to a professional lash place to get it fixed. They actually gasped in horror when they saw my lashes. I learned from professionals that there are some fake "professionals" (like Tracy) who buy fake and cheap lashes from a drug store and will use something like superglue or permanent glue that is NOT safe for your skin or lashes. Tracy does this and it ruined my natural lashes. Even if none of that matters to you, she can't even do a decent job. It looked terrible. She actually smiles at you as you walk out the door. What a huge scam and huge disappointment.

Great salon. Friendly people. I'm always happy with the service I receive. And I love the way my nails look.

I had called this location yesterday with the number listed on Yelp! I was calling to find out if…read morethey were open or not and the number continued to ring. A few minutes later a received a missed call from them. They continued to call back and when another number called, I answered, they said they were this nail salon. I explained that I was calling to see if they were open. They must not have understood. I then recieved a text message asking, "Are you Dan girl ?" I didn't reply. I then continued to receive six phone calls from this place. I answered the last one where I was cursed at and given some explicit instructions as to what I could do to 'Dan.' And then They hung up. I recieved another text message stating, "F**k him hard I don't care about his d*ck.. I want his friend number" I ignored both messages. I went in this morning to talk to the manager or owner and when I explained whathad happened she responded, "I sent those. So?" She then went on to try to question me about why I had called. I tried to explain and I was met with hostility and rudeness. This woman did not seem to care or mind that she had spoken to a potential customer this way and obviously saw nothing wrong with how childish and immature she was behaving. If for no other reasons other then the hostility and rudeness that was faced when trying to figure out why I had recieved those calls and text messages you should avoid this location at all costs.

Prices are around the same as other salons - kinda expensive. The decor inside is really nice tho, and they did a good job the times I've gotten my nails done there so I would come back.

Would have given 0 if possible, had it not been for the negative experience being saved by nailtech…read moreKevin yesterday. The first technician that my spouse was paired with was awful and he was reusing the disposable files that they're suppose to throw out after every client. His station was sticky, dirty and he wasnt listening when my wife very clearly told him what she did and did not want. She was super clear when she walked in and registered for the appointment that she just wanted a fill and new color, but to keep the length. She reiterated to the technician not to cut, just fill and new color with a simple design that she pulled out her phone to show him the shape which could be filed and the color and design. He was too rough and began cutting when she specifically told him not to. She stopped him and corrected him, and he lied and said she wanted them cut. She did not and she had stated that TWICE before they began. He was too rough while drilling down too hard and thinned the nail out too much and she was trying to tell him that but he SHUSHED her with his finger to his mouth like she was a child, pointing to his ear & he said he was ON AN APPOINTMENT PHONE CALL and she was disrupting him (WHILE HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE DOING HER NAILS-- COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND IT'S HIS FAULT HE MESSED UP BECAUSE HE WASNT PAYING ATTENTION TO HER, HE WAS FOCUSED ON A PERSONAL CALL IN HIS EAR INSTEAD OF THE PAYING CUSTOMER IN FRONT OF HIM. So, then when he applied the gel it BURNED and she had never experienced that with the previous technicians that she had gotten her nails done by at this same location this year. She told him it burned and he tried to tell her "That's Normal"-- NO IT'S NOT! She's gotten her nails done for years and has only had this problem when she has had an unlicensed technician who doesnt give AF. He also was about to cut her with his dirty ass drill because he was going too hard around the edges and his work was uneven and sloppy. She pulled her hand away, got up and distanced herself from him because he was just unprofessional and rude, and did not care that he was hurting her. She asked the manager if there's someone with way more experience who does really good nails who can help her since she now has naked nails. He did thankfully put her with Kevin i believe who was so much better. His station was very clean and he had a gold metal file that he sterilized before use. He also had a professional apron unlike most others so I could tell he takes his craft more seriously. He fixed the issue and finished her nails much to her satisfaction except one nail is shorter than the other (I think one of the thumbs) because that other tech cut it against her wishes. We were not offered any discount or anything, and we wont be back again because this is just not consistent quality work here nor sanitary. Manager didnt even say they were sorry, just nodded their head and said they'd talk to the guy after he was done with his next customer. I doubt they give a s***, but even if they had offered a discount or gift card, I would not come back after this last experience. We only started coming to this location because the other nail salon we use to always go to in Arlington has been very busy and not as big with only a couple of technicians so we have to make an appointment and sometimes wait still for a bit-- but honestly, they're way better and worth waiting a bit compared to Modern Nails. Go to First Lady nails in Arlington Poughkeepsie area if you want to be treated like an important customer and the owner will remember you if you become a repeat client, she is usually quite nice and personable, and professional IMO. However, at this point, I'm just going to find an independent tech with their own space or who is mobile who can come by my office to do my wife's nails. I'd rather pay someone who is licensed and who will be 100% dedicated to delivering high quality nails and a safe, sanitary experience than keep bouncing chop shop to chop shop risking my wife's health and causing her frustration during something that is suppose to be a relaxing, luxury experience. I do not recommend Modern Nail Bar in PK-- it looks nice from the outside but cleanliness levels vary per tech. If you do go here, check the station and tools before you let them touch you. Make sure they're using sanitized professional METAL tools-- if they're using the single-use files, they are not able to be sterilized and are only meant to be thrown away after each customer! It's basic hygiene and professional standard. They do not have their license posted visibly so I doubt they're licensed. I wish I had seen more of the recent reviews before we had gone there again. We went 4 times since October 2025 and this was the last time. Looks like several other people have had similarly bad experiences with the techs sharing tools and not sanitizing them & not listening.
