Food 3.5/5 Service 3.5/5…read moreAmbience 3.5/5 A busy and popular dessert and snack spot at the First Markham Place. I've been here a few times mostly earlier evenings and it's always busy but we always manage to get a table without waiting long to be seated. We ordered the deep fried peanut butter French toast bites, mango shaved ice, black sesame egg waffle. Our fallback and favourite is the mango shaved ice #1, deep fried peanut butter toast bites #2 and last is the egg waffle. The egg waffle is quite hard and it misses the mark of most egg waffles. I wonder if it becomes hard or has to be cooked harder because of the ice cream topping. I wouldn't order the egg waffle here again. I find that the desserts are reasonably priced compared to other Asian dessert stops in the area. The menu is extensive and has more cold desserts than warm desserts. Service was pretty good considering how busy it was on Friday evening and we were always able to get the attention of a server. Expect that seating is tight on popular evenings.

The marshmallow toast had a warm, crunchy crust and a soft, marshy filling that was really satisfying. The mango shaved ice was packed with lots of ingredients, creating a fruity yet creamy flavor. It was refreshing and felt like the perfect summer dessert. I really like this place and probably will go back soon!

My wife saw this place on Instagram and wanted to give it a shot since it is close to home…read more We came here to try a few things. Place is nicely decorated, but we did get a little confused off the get go. Menus on the table like some of the dessert places have check boxes it looks like to order your items, kinda looks like those dim sum places where you check things off. The paper quality is really good though and I was like maybe we shouldn't have wrote on it. We did and we are sorry about that :). Now too the food. Tried a few things here. Most items come in a dish about the size of a rice bowl. Tried the red bean dessert. Not bad, good size bowl. We went with the mochi bowl with pomelo pulp, mango and black jelly. This sago dish was quite nice and refreshing. I didn't get much cause. Kids ate a lot of it. Next was the pistachio dish. I loved the crushed pistachios to seperate the whipped pistachio paste and the white stuff (can see in the picture if confused). There was a dish with 4 toppings and an osmanthus jelly underneath that was interesting . Not a favourite with the kids but I found it interesting. Think it's cause it had those Chinese white steam rice cake taste from the fermented rice in the dish. The other 3 toppings were Hawthorne flakes, raisins and peanuts. Dish plated well and lots of textures. Wasn't a fan of the raisins sticking in my teeth but I liked the dish. Tried the hot food , but a warning it is snack size, and not too many items to choose from. We had the popcorn chicken and the Taiwanese sausage. The chicken was tasty and some fat pieces, but it is a small bowl for $8. The Taiwanese sausage was good, but for $9 , it is one or 2 sausages cut up and put in a bowl. There are a few more dishes I want to try, so would go back again. After tax and tip, this was about a $75 visit.

Service 3.5/5 Food 3.5/5…read moreAmbience 3.5/5 I had heard about long wait times at Sugar Maison given it is fairly new. So we went on a Tuesday evening. No wait. We ordered the Rose Lychee Glutinous Rice Balls milk pudding and Fresh Mango with Sage and Lychee Bobba and mango milk. As others have said the Rose Lychee bowl is the size of a medium individual rice bowl whereas the Fresh Mango bowl we ordered is substantially larger. The taste of the Rose Lychee bowl became one dimensional for me. If you want a less sweet dessert, this maybe for you. In combination with the Fresh Mango bowl we ordered, the two desserts complimented the other. Desserts here are at higher price point. Nice and bright decor inside. Service was very attentive and it was easy to get the attention of a server. I feel that the restaurant is still new in terms of readiness, in that we had to ask for a spoon, asked for a second napkin, but the staff are very helpful and kind. Payment is only by cash or debit card. Parking is available right outside the restaurant and in the shopping plaza, located at McCowan and Buroak.

You can pay with debit/credit cards, but there is a convenience fee each time. All the desserts looked really good, but we decided to get a couple off of their "Mango Favorites" list. MANGO PANCAKE 芒果班戟 - 8.99 This was so good, especially the thin and elastic skin that wrapped the contents (cake and whipped cream). The mango flavor was strong and the dessert itself had the texture of a fluffy and bouncy cake rather than a pancake (I'm used to flat pancakes). It's not too sweet, a light dessert and good option to share since each order comes with two separate pancakes. FULL HOUSE SAGO 楊枝甘露 - 7.99 Sago in mango pudding/sauce? It's smooth and good, and the sago made it better with its texture. Also not too sweet!

In the app, There was a coupon for a free mango full house with any purchase of a pancake. The pancake was good but I wish it was cold vs room temperature. We tried swapping the complimentary mango full house for the one with tofu (since it's the same price on the menu) but they couldn't. The mango full house was good, but definitely missing the tofu.

We did a "make your own bowl", where you can choose your base and toppings. I got coconut milk, mango, sago, and mochi balls. The dessert is simple but had just the right sweetness, however, I feel like portion sizes could be bigger. Service is what you'd typically expect at a Chinese restaurant. The prices are reasonable and there's plenty of seating available as well. Overall, I would come back if I'm in the area, however, there are better Chinese dessert places around.

The Pistachio paste is smooth and it really has a pistachio presence. At the first spoon, I tasted the saltiness of this nut but the next spoon it showed a very subtle sweetness while retaining a pistachio flavor. While eating it gives you a warm "blanket"feeling. There were also a few cake desserts in the display., The Super Bowl is comparatively smaller in size than a similar type dessert at another favourite Meet Fresh.

Takeout orders come in a small quart container. Mango pomelo sago was good but felt it was missing something. While a classic, I would skip this dish here. The grass jelly, taro balls and red bean combo was slamming. Loved it and the grass jelly was so good because of the generosity in its ingredients. Giant chunks of jelly. This was phenomenal. I'm sure it tastes better fresh in store. Even so, I would come back and try other dishes.

Compared to other staples like Meet Fresh (which closed down :( or we would've gone) This was a tiny bowl for 10$. It did taste good flavourwise but the mochi was overcooked and not chewy at all.

So we decided to come here. Midland is a well known location that not hard to find. There was 1 more hours to be closed, when we walked in. But the casher was not rush me. She just let us know we could scan the QR code for the menu on the table, and come up to the counter to order, when we are ready. We were debating which one to get, Golden Mango or Matcha Mango Bingsu. The cashier said Golden Mango is giving different texture, even though it's all mango flavor; the Matcha Mango is using matcha shaved ice as base, then top with Mango fresh fruit. So we final decision was the Golden Mango Bingsu. Once we ordered, we got a electric alert board. We won't wait long, the alert board was beeping when our order was ready. I went back to the counter to get my Bingsu. This desert is not big that costs $12.55+tax. Sago has no taste. Fresh mango is on the top, mango base is mango flavored shaded ice, which is like ice cream that smooth. Mango sauce as layer is in the middle of the base, which makes stronger taste. Overall, it's pretty tasty and fresh. That's another type of ice cream for me. The store was open until late night, and I was seeing couples coming in. That reminded me long time ago when we were young. Enjoy the desert and also enjoy the late night life.

The menu is extensive, with many drinks, sweets and even savory options. We got the mango bingsu, green tea red bean bingsu, the milk tea bingsu and the pomelo and mango coco drink. I liked the green tea bingsu the most as the ice was very fine and creamy. The milk tea was very choppy and I didn't like the texture as much. I think it's part of the aesthetic, but they serve the bingsu piled up super high in proportionally small bowls. They fully expect a mess so they provide trays for every bingsu to catch the mess as it melts, floods pass the bowl, syrups drip off the ice and toppings topple off. I wish they would just put it in a properly sized bowls instead of the mess. Also, the wooden trays are chipped and broken which doesn't feel hygienic. Service was super friendly even though it was busy, so extra star for the hardworking staff.
