They offer some interesting combinations and probably have more syrup flavors than other places but other than that, the lines arent justified. They are more affordable than other tea spots and maybe that's why there is a line. But for "well acclimated Boba Tea drinkers", like myself...this one will not deliver. 3 stars because it's not bad. When Tpumps first opened up in Pasadena, there was a big commotion with people waiting in line for long periods of time just for a taste of that NorCal boba goodness. It wasn't until recently that I had the chance to try it out myself, and honestly - it's just okay. It's definitely not a place where I'd wait in line for more than 5 to 10 minutes. I guess what is special about Tpumps is that they have a lot of variety in their drinks and customizable options. You basically can return every day and get a different drink each time for who knows how long. It can get a little complicated if you want to customize your own drink rather than order from their pre-fixed customer favorite drink list. First you order your size ($3.50 for 24 oz and $4.50 for 32 oz iced), then you choose from flavors of syrup. Add in your choice of tea (premium teas cost an extra $1 more) before you add milk. If you want to adjust sweetness or ice, you're free to do so. And of course, the toppings. Price of the drinks includes 1 topping (besides the popping boba), so you have your choice of boba bran, honey boba, taro, or red bean. You can also make any milk tea a smoothie or make any flavored tea a slushie. Unsweetened tea is cheaper and seems like it's healthier as well. There's also a fridge section that has pre-made tea if you want to drop by and grab some to-go. When I visited on a weekday night, the line was not too long - maybe about 5 or so people in front of us. My friend was super excited about getting a tea since she had visited a few weeks prior. I wasn't sure what to order, so I went with a favorite of mango strawberry green tea. I was debating between that one and peach rose green tea, but the worker told me that the latter was really floral-y, which I wasn't in the mood for. I added honey boba (of course) and was pretty surprised that the 24 oz. was a fairly large cup when I got my order. So the 32 oz. is pretty gigantic! I wouldn't recommend Tpumps to tea aficionados who are passionate about that rich tea flavor because Tpumps uses a lot of syrups in which the teas don't come out tasting super quality-like. I liked my drink, but it definitely didn't have that rich, pure green tea flavor that I enjoy when I get my milk cream green teas. This was more of a fun drink to enjoy - especially on hot summer days. Tea was more muted, but I liked the mango strawberry combination. It wasn't too sweet, and the honey boba added a little extra sweetness to the drink. The boba was pretty chewy and they gave a good amount, which I was thankful for. My friend ordered her unsweetened tea and wanted to add boba bran. There was some confusion at the register and her tea became priced as a premium tea. Not sure what happened, but she didn't want to argue and just paid the price. Tea was made quickly and we were quickly out the door. There aren't any seats inside the store (that I remember) and parking is quite difficult to find, so hopefully you're up for a walk. Workers were helpful and friendly. tl;dr - Affordable teas in a pretty large cup. Apparently you can get a free upgrade on Tuesdays. Tpumps. One of the most popular, if not thee most popular, boba spot in Pasadena. It is located in a great location. The boba is good. The boba is cheap. The ambiance of the area is great. So what is holding this place back? Don't get me wrong, it is a good place. Portion sizes are great etc. To me, it's two things... 1. The boba itself The boba is very inconsistent in size and texture. Sometimes it's big and hard and sometimes it's small and squishy. This doesn't make a huge difference in the drink and some people prefer this. 2. The flavors The boba is made with sweeteners anyone can buy from Ralph's. I'm 99% sure they use Torani. The drink tastes like milk + tea + shot of whatever sweetener you want + boba + ice. This is probably ever shop but i don't know why it's more apparent here. That being said. I'm more of a tea person than a milk tea so this place was perfect for a refreshing drink on a nice hot summer day. When arriving, I noticed how small the shop was. There was a pretty long line. What I ordered: Large size Peach,Guava, Lychee green tea! ($4.50) First all, their large size is freaking ridiculous. For only $4.50, I wish every boba shop carried this size lol. For my drink, I picked the flavor so it wasn't already a set drink on their menu. The mix of the 3 flavor was perfect! They also have a refrigerator with already made drinks to purchase for $2. I got the chocolate strawberry vanilla milk tea and it was delicious! Tpumps is equivalent to Utah's "dirty" soda shops like Swig with all the syrups/mix in's you can add to your drink. It's fun and cool to see all the options you have! I came on a weekday night and there was a short line. As I've gotten older, I find that the drinks here are really sweet, so I usually get Light Light Sweetness or Light Sweetness, depending on the tartness of the fruity flavors I order. I love this boba place in Pasadena! I never heard of Tpumps until a coworker of mine brought me here. I love the variety of flavors you can mix in your drink! Went on a Friday night and there was a line out the door, which my boyfriend says is usually the case. If you're all about customizing your drinks, this place is for you. They have a pretty foolproof system. Signs on the wall show you exactly how to order. You pick the size, up to 3 flavors from their long list of flavors, the tea you want, how sweet, and any toppings. If you're indecisive like me, don't you worry! They have a list of customer favorites, as well. It basically takes away the stress that comes along with decision-making! They list different drink combinations that can help start you off. If that still isn't enough help, they have descriptions to tell you what each drink combination would taste similar to. I'm telling you -- they couldn't make it any easier! Although there was a line outside, an employee would go down the line starting to take orders so you can just hand your cup over when you get to the register. You can still order at the front if you have a hard time choosing the perfect concoction, though. Line moves pretty fast. And the drinks are delish! I was really hoping to like this place given the reviews, but unfortunately the entire drink was just such a bad experience... I ordered the Rose Vanilla Lavender green milk tea with honey boba. A bit of a preface, I am a little bit of a boba snob who usually gets 50% sweetness... SO SWEET, IT'S SUGAR WATER. I ordered with light sweetness (only options were light, regular, and very sweet, presumably because they get all their flavors from sugar syrups), and I still couldn't taste anything other than sugar for an hour after my final sip. This "light" sweetness is probably 125% for most normal boba shops. After only 1/4 of the cup, even after all the ice had melted, I couldn't handle the sugar content anymore and had to stop. This is the first time I've had to put down a boba drink due to sugar content. On top of that, the only flavor I could taste in the tea (aside from sugar) was rose. Vanilla and lavender were completely hidden; it was as if they weren't even added! I don't know what the point of all these customizations is if one flavor is made to way overpower others. As the final nail in the coffin, the boba itself was pretty bad. The balls were slippery and gummy, instead of soft and chewy. They split apart after one or two chews instead of giving that pleasant bounce I look for in my boba. I suppose there are worse tasting bobas than the one I had today, but this problem wasn't one about under- or over-cooking the boba, which is a sign to me that this is just how their normal boba is. Don't settle for this boba when there are plenty of other spots in the area. read more

Got here 1:00 PM on Monday and there was no line. My friend and I both got Rose Vanilla GMT normal sweetness, light ice, with honey boba. I had high expectations after reading reviews and hearing about this place from other friends, but it was just okay. We asked for sweetness recommendations and they said that this drink was on the less sweet side, but the normal sweetness is quite sweet IMO. In my drink, I couldn't really taste the tea. It honestly reminds me of getting shaved ice in Hawaii, where you have a huge selection of flavors and you can pick a maximum of three. Then you choose a base of either black tea, green tea, or non caffeinated. The number of combinations is endless. Don't worry, they have a menu with their customer's favorites, which can help if you don't know what flavors to combine/choose. Drinks: I have tried a bunch of flavor combinations, but recently I ordered the passion fruit, tangerine, and guava green ice. This drink is under the "customer favorites." They were right, it does taste like POG, for those familiar with that flavor. Also, the honey boba is very soft and tasty. Boba has always been consistent here. I always order the drink with light sweetness, which is perfect for me. Service: The service is always good here. Every time I've gone, they have samples for you to taste the different flavor combinations. A couple of times, I ordered the drink that was given out as a sample. They are professionals, so I tend to order flavor combinations that Tpumps recommends. Jessica was also very friendly and she does a great job at what she does. Also, there are no public restrooms. Parking: There is parking on Lake on the store front. It is $1/hour, but the streets can be very busy doing rush hour. Overall, If you're a boba fanatic, check out Tpumps. Make sure to get one of the recommended flavors instead of trying to mix everything you like together and end up having a disgusting drink. I previously gave T-pumps a 5 star review, but I'm taking away a star in this update. This update is mostly for criticisms that have disillusioned me from what this location used to be. Y'all can read my other review as well to hear all the good I have to say about this place, but just know that THIS review will be mostly critique. T-pumps is a great boba place. Their boba pearls are among the best I've had. They're soft and chewy, but the staff barely gives you any. It's gonna take some self control to make sure you have boba throughout your entire drink. I also still appreciate the variety of customization that they offer and take advantage of free upsizes on T-pumps Tuesday. I will say that in the past few times I've visited Tpumps, they've messed up my order every time. I usually wouldn't say anything about something like this, but it's just happened so often. Sometimes I would ask for a milk tea and they'd give me fruit tea instead, which I feel is a pretty big mistake. "Premium" ingredients such as matcha and taro are a dollar extra, so your drink can get pretty expensive especially if you order a matcha, red bean, taro, or honeydew drink (which is usually the same price as other drinks at other boba places) Don't get me wrong though - Tpumps is still a really good boba place. We ended up getting: 24 oz Almond Roca Raspberry Vanilla Black Tea, $3.50 tax included- Ordering drinks here is a little complicated and has too many choices. So I decided to pick one of the drink suggestions on the "Our Customers' Favorites" sign. I requested for this drink to be made as a light +, which its sweetness level is between light and medium. I thought it was still on the sweet side and would consider just ordering my sweetness level as light in the future. Aside from the drink being a little too sweet for me, I thought the drink itself tasted great. Had great flavors of raspberry, vanilla and almond. I recently found out about Tpumps through a friend who told me that she drove all the way here from the valley just to get their drinks so I had to try it. On my first visit I ordered their Thai tea with boba and it was super good. The only thing was that it was a bit too sweet so if you aren't a fan of sweeter things I would adjust the sweetness. Personally I enjoy sweet things so it was okay with me. Their boba is super good and soft and the workers are really nice. review: 4.5 stars I come here often, especially on Tuesdays when you can order a larger size for the price of a small. One thing to note about their larger size is that its MASSIVE. The real name of this size is pumbo, and some of my friends have taken to calling me pumbo (a.k.a FATTY), so beware if you have tpumps too many times you too will become pumbo. I tend to get the mango peach passion fruit green tea. Its so refreshing! Their boba is perfect, great flavor, perfectly chewy, usually fresh! One thing to note is that it can get very busy, and the line can go all the way down the block without any shade! once, the man behind me in line fainted. The employees ran to his side, and also brought him free boba. So theres a life hack if you ever want free boba i guess. its also a testament to how kind the staff is. I would recommend this place for people who love fruity teas, not to those who like milk tea. When I arrived, it's a relatively short line but it's out the door by a few people. It doesn't take too long to get in the door where there is a container in most places would be water. Here, they filled it with mango green tea or something as a sample for everyone. One of the girls came by with another sample in a shaker. She asked if I wanted to try the watermelon Pineapple tea. Yes please, I sort of know what I wanted to get. This totally changed my mind. Now I'm getting the Coconut Watermelon Pineapple with honey boba, costs me $3.50.
