My favorite is the tie guan yin milk tea with boba. During my last visit I noticed a huge improvement in the time it takes to get my drink. I used to wait 20-30 minutes, but last time I only waited around 5 minutes. I'm not sure what changed but I'm glad to see it! Pro tip: When Yelp reviews say one thing and the cashier says something different, always listen to the cashier (!!) On a related note: There is dairy in all the drinks that say milk in them. (no non-dairy creamer) The line here was pretty long on a Friday afternoon at 2pm. It seemed like the business was a little short staffed with only 4 or 5 staff members scrambling to serve a line that went out the door and around the corner (more were incoming). I am obsessed with this place. Legit had to come back twice in a row over the weekend, despite knowing the line that wraps around the building. First time I was here, I came in the afternoon when they had stopped online orders through their website. The line took around 20 minutes. I got the basic Tien Guan Yin MT and my partner got the grapefruit iced tea. Both were so good. This is definitely one of those places with fresh fruit in their tea and their tea actually tastes strongly of tea. One downside was that I was really excited for the pearls (small bobas) and they don't carry that in this branch. In fact, they replaced all the pearls to be boba, on the menu. The second time I came during opening time. I was one of the first 5 people in the door and I also managed to place an online order while in line. It came out pretty quickly but one thing to note: the pick up location for online orders is with the doordash/yamibuy side (next to the register), while in store orders are on the side close to the side door. Definitely some qualitea tea at TP Tea! This new boba place replaced Monster Boba, but the layout of the store is basically the same. I ordered the Pearl Milk Tea, one at 80% and 50% sweetness, which comes with mini boba. They offer large boba and other toppings for 50 cents, but mini boba was only an extra 20 cents. They give a generous amount of boba, and the texture was nice and chewy! I tried my friend's drink at 100% sweetness and thought it was wayyyy too sweet, so I would say 80% is a good starting point for "regular" sweetness. At 50%, I could start to taste a stronger tea flavor, so I think 50% and below would be my recommendation for the best overall taste. Like most people have said, be prepared for a wait. There's doesn't seem to be a best time to go during the day because it really varies. We arrived close to 1:30pm and waited 30-40 min total (from standing in line to getting our drinks). I'm not sure how to describe it, but the tea just had the classic Taiwan taste to it, and it's probably the most authentic Taiwanese boba shop that I've been to in the U.S. DRINK: 5/5. Best tea I've had in awhile. I'm a fan! I got the classic pearl milk tea (C2 on the menu), and it comes with mini boba, which I haven't seen at many places in the U.S. I personally like it better than regular boba, because it's smaller and easier to chew. They recommend getting 100% sugar, but I got 80% and found it still a tiny bit too sweet, so I'll probably try 50% next time. SERVICE: Yikes. So so so slow. I came here at around 3pm on a Wednesday, but the lines were out the door. I stayed around for about an hour, and the line never really died down. I spent around 15 minutes in line to order, and then it took 20-25 minutes for them to make my drink. Sad. On a Friday afternoon at around 1:15pm there were about 30 people in front of me and waited for about 20 mins before I could order. One of the staff was passing out drink samples, I believe it was some kind of oolong tea and it was really refreshing on a hot summer day. I observed how their staff worked in the kitchen - yeah, it was quite a mess. Some staff clearly wasn't very experienced, putting the wrong stuff into cups, then pouring them out, washing the cup, and repeated. The cups were also placed on the countertop in an unorganized manner, and the list went on.... well, I give them the benefit of doubt and the most important thing is the drinks quality right? * * * DRINKS * * * TieGuan Yin Milk Tea with Boba: A- I know they are famous for the latte but I didn't feel like latte on that day, and ultimately they have to compete with other boba tea shop so their tea drinks have to be able to compete right? I'm happy to say that I would place them in top 5 of the places I have tried in bay area so far - it has a really strong tea flavor which I enjoyed a lot, the milk was pretty silky, boba was average+ although it could add a little bit of flavor, it's pretty chewy though. One thing to mention is that when they say "Pearl" it means small size boba, and "Boba" means big size. Looking at those actual ball sizes, the Pearl size is kind of in between standard small and big boba, and the Boba size is definitely larger than standard boba from other tea places. TP Tea is quite amazing! This was my first time trying their teas and I am very glad that I did. We got D1(TieGuan Yin Lattee with grass jelly), C4(Taiwan Classic Milk tea, comes with boba, qq noodle boba, and grass jelly), and B4(Passion fruit green tea with aloe+jelly). For all of the drinks, we got half sweet and less ice. The TieGuan Yin Latte had a strong, yet smooth tea flavor and a rich milky taste. The Taiwan Classic Milk tea had a much richer milk tea flavor. And the Passion fruit green tea also had a very tasty flavor. The qq noodle jelly is someihng that I have never tried before and not seen at other boba shops. Finally a place for authentic Taiwanese milk tea. When my sister finally told me about this place after trying it with her friend, I wanted to come and try it out myself. So we came here on a Saturday morning, and there was already a long line. We waited for 20 minutes in line and then another 20 minutes to get 3 drinks. Absolutely all of the chairs and seats were taken so a lot of people had to wait standing up. This was during the summer, so it was much cooler inside. They did have water by the door to get in case you were thirsty. The second time we went it was on a Friday night. There wasn't such a long line, and the wait period was shorter. So if you want some boba to try, probably go toward the evening. There's also never any parking either so your going to have to fight for parking. The drinks were very good. There's no complaints about their drinks. I enjoyed their tie guan milk tea a lot. The green tea latte was not bad either. I'd probably go back to get that. Give this place a try. This place had a long line! And not sure how to properly word this without sounding racist or stupid, but the store was filled with mostly Asians who did not seem like they were born in America. That's a good thing though! From what's been suggested to me, TP Tea is the closest thing we have to the milk tea offered in Asia (haven't been to Asia recent unfortunately). We ordered passion fruit green tea, tieguanyin tea latte, and Taiwan class milk tea. Passion fruit options for sweetness are full or 0%, the cashier told us to get 0% since we were getting pineapple coconut jelly, but it was sour and not sweet, next time, will get 100%. For the other two drinks, we got 50% sweetness. This was a mistake. Their menu explicitly says they recommend 100% sweetness for their drinks but I was trying to be healthy. Their drinks are more on the tea-tasting side, so sugar may be needed to balance out that bitterness. I'd definitely be willing to come back and try their other options, at 100% sweetness, but it's a little out of the way. I still have heard from others that this place is amazing so I want to give them a few more chances. read more

I've tried almost all the popular boba places and TP tea is one of my favorites. I always get their classic milk tea or Tieguanyin latte, but this time I decided to try sth new so I ordered Winter Melon Lemon Tea with Aloe and it...tasted like pop corn chicken for the first sip I guess next time I should just get regular winter melon tea or milk tea... My boyfriend ordered the Fantasia fruit tea, which was pretty good, better than Yifang in our opinion.
