They cost me an extra $2000 based on their misdiagnosis. They affirmed that my tipm was bad, so I paid a few hundred dollars to repair the tipm. They installed the repaired tipm, and when that didn't fix the problem, they told me I need to pick up my car pay them $1000 for trying and they refused to do any more work. Based on their advice, I ordered a brand new tipm for several hundred dollars and had the dealership install it, which had no effect on the issue. That puts me at around $2000 that I spent by taking my vehicle to toy tech. Rude owner, and incompetent mechanics. I am currently looking into whether I can file a small claim against this company. read more

This shop is not just careless--it's DANGEROUS. They put my life at risk, and I wouldn't trust them ever again. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I had high hopes based on reviews, but my experience was TERRIBLE! I came in to have my brakes checked for a leak, but after hearing their expensive quote, I decided to pick up my car instead. As I was leaving, the staff warned me my car wasn't safe to drive, which I appreciated, but things got WORSE! I almost drove off onto 2920 only to discover my BRAKES DIDN'T WORK AT ALL! Thankfully, I stopped the car in time, and a mechanic ran out , admitting the car wasn't ready to go, my BRAKE LINES HADN'T BEEN RECONNECTED! They nearly let me leave with an UNSAFE VEHICLE! I am in trouble, their solution? Charge me $220 to look under the hood, take off my radiator cap and connect a pressure tester, $35 a day storage fee (they did call the day before, missed it). I am sure they have every legal right; I am sure they have satisfied (non-mechanically inclined) customers, When I get an estimate to change a water pump, power steering pump and serpentine belt that has contaminates (coolant) on it ..? coolant on a belt, change the radiator hoses (because why not!) I am not dumb just old and can't myself anymore. 7 bolts (max), push the belt to the side add coolant loosen some fittings, $1700 to "start". They will never touch another of my vehicles. EDIT: I did find one, $1200, that includes the timing cover that was leaking you missed and would have charged more for, didn't get the, you need to change extra parts that didn't need to be changed/charged for and a 1-year warranty parts and labor on work done. I expected the normal, "$100 diagnostic charge that will go towards repairs should you choose to let us do the work." but no, they had no intentions of charging in the first place. I am happier now. By the way, loved the "change your yelp review or we will charge storage." ... and I said, "you already are". Rather glad my phone was on speaker; guys I work with never would have believed that one had they not heard it. read more

Stay Clear of Toy Tech Auto Care. I am stunned that this place has a high rating, more stunned that they are still in business. The owner Jack is off the chain. To say he is rude doesn't quite cover it, psycho is more accurate. He was rude with my wife when she had questions about the repair, later arguing that she should have done what he said without question. He was rude with me when I told him I didn't appreciate the way he talked to my wife. After paying nearly $500 (still need to take the vehicle elsewhere for repairs) he told me to get off his property and that he was not going to release the vehicle I just paid and signed for. His words to me, "You can go get more of your friends, your not taking this car now." I assume the friends he was referring to were cops, as I was in uniform. He had a quick change of heart while I was on the phone with "my friends" and had his mechanics push it out into the main parking lot so we could hook up to it. I can't really comment on the quality of the work, we never got past the psycho owner. I guess he can hold it together at least some of the time to lure customers in but underneath this guy is just pathetic. Check his negative reviews, you will see that it is best to STAY CLEAR OF JACK AND TOY TECH, or roll the dice and see what you get. read more

The toy tech name confused us at first, but now I understand-- they are techs. Very cutting edge. Had have car towed from 99. My issue is with one 'Emily' that answers the phone. I understand she answers the phone because she IS NOT a mechanic and DOES NOT understand the business. So please dont undercut, undermine, and insult customers when you dont understand. If you dont understand something it's okay. The attitude though is not. I didnt waste my time asking for a manager as hopefully he/she sees this. I cant speak on the mechanical work, honesty, cleanliness, etc. Wish I could, but we wont chance it now. We moved into the area last year and decided to give this place a try because of the convenience of the location. Emily and Jack have been very helpful in patiently explaining things to me, as I am not very knowledgeable about mechanical things. The work was completed quickly. They also fixed a problem that had resulted from some inferior parts being woefully welded by a competitor in Tomball just over one year ago. They installed the correct parts and gave us 36 months/36K mile warranty. They treated us right. I dropped the vehicle off, they took me home, then came back to pick me up when the work was finished that same day. I highly recommend this company. This is in response to your response on my husband's review. We did not tow our vehicle in to you. I drove it myself from 249 and Alice. It had overheated several days prior but not since. It was running rough and I stopped at the first place I saw. They ran a diagnostic and speculated that it could be a blown head gasket but didn't have anyone there qualified to dig deeper. For that reasons they charged us nothing and I drove the vehicle to your shop upon other's recommendations. The car was running rough but definitely running when you received it and not overheating. Ultimately we chose to not make the repairs because they were over $2000 on a vehicle with over 423,000 miles. It did not make sense to us to make a $2000+ investment on a vehicle with that many miles. We chose instead to sell the vehicle to a mechanic who would make their own repairs. As far as the storage, you supposedly gave us a four hour window to pick it up on Thursday. Friday (Good Friday) was a holiday as well as Sunday (Easter). We were charged for days you weren't even open for pick up and never told there would be a charge, except maybe in the fine print of the work order which admittedly we did not read. When I attempted to discuss these charges with you at pick up you were rude and refused. Then rude to my husband when you called to complain about his review here. read more

I can't say enough good things about Toy Tech. Our 2010 Titan was in desperate need of new brakes and struts. This place came highly recommended by a good friend of ours and Toy Tech did not disappoint. Do not let the name or the looks deter you from giving them a try. Yes their name is kind of deceiving but please keep going through the doors! We love the link they send via text for the customer to review the recommended work and other things that need attention in the near future. Being able to accept or decline the recommended work is awesome and being able to see via pictures posted what needs to be fixed and other concerns that they point out. At this point with the accept/decline of work will also give you a dollar amount that you will pay when you pick up your vehicle. Little did we know that we would be paying less than what was originally quoted when we went to pick up our truck. Cyndi at the front desk is extremely knowledgeable of ALL aspects of the trade. She went above and beyond at the front desk on pricing, without even being asked! Everyone we talked to were friendly and informative. The best customer service I have ever experienced at an auto repair shop!!!! Friendly, fast, efficient and reasonably priced is how I would describe them. My daughter's car stalled on the way home to Dallas from Prairie View. We found Toy Tech Auto Care on the Internet and, due to their prior reviews, had the vehicle towed there. It was 4:30pm, they closed at 6:30pm and my auto repair service was estimated to be about a 3 hour job. I gave it one star, because they don't have any lower. I will note that our contact throughout this process was the owner, Jack. We were given a $100 price for a diagnostic. The price for the repairs was considerably more than what we got from others, so we decided against getting the work done. As a part of their testing, they replaced our plugs and wires with some of theirs. When we decided against the repairs, they gave us an invoice for $140 for the diagnostic ($40 over what was agreed) and refused to replace parts which were originally on our vehicle. After we complained about the increase, they did lower it to the original $100, but still refused to reinstall our parts. We weren't able to get the vehicle removed that day or the next day (Good Friday). When we went to pick the vehicle up on Monday, they charged us 3 days storage, one of which was for Sunday (when they aren't even open), at a rate of $35 a day. They were reasonably nice up until we declined the repairs. After that it was very much an "I don't give a crap" attitude. I should also mention that we were going to have the vehicle towed to the next location, but Jeff wouldn't even allow us to remove our personal belongings until it was off Toy Tech property. STRONGLY recommend against doing business here. read more
