I'm not going to ding 'em on service - they recently opened and I always feel like it takes time to work out the kinks until smooth sailing. I'm grading based on atmosphere and food. The food was not impressive. Tuna carpaccio was way too saucy. The fish was fresh but there was just too much going on. The shrimp cocktail was fine/average. I didn't try the steak but didn't hear any complaints. The atmosphere was a let down. Interior design is one thing that should be heavily invested in if your goal is to come across more upscale. Here, it looked aged and the bar area + dining area clashes a bit too much in terms of color and overall seating arrangement. It makes the place look small and awkward. I live in about a 3 min driving distance and was looking forward to putting an American food restaurant in rotation - hopefully it improves over time when it comes to food at least.

We really enjoy supporting new local restaurants and we're excited to try Town in McLean. Granted the place has only been open a few weeks so expectations were adjusted. Busy Friday night, had reservations, was able to find parking in their lot and seated on time. The restaurant has a cement pad, front and center, where two high end cars were on display in front of the entrance. Our waitress seemed extremely frazzled and was very distracted. I ordered a smoked old fashion, which is on the menu, and waited over 15 mins before ever seeing the drink. The old fashion was very good; however, was missing the black cherry as listed. The appetizers were the highlight as the quality went down from here. Fried mozzarella was presented in an iron type skillet and was quite tasty. The pupusas were cheesy as well and very good. I overheard the owner tell a customer that the pasta dishes had recently been added to the menu. I ordered one of them Cacio e Pepe. So disappointed in this dish, barely warm, severely undercooked and lacked the peppery punch you want in this entree. The burger was decent but not memorable as the lower bun was soggy. To close the night, the bill was presented slid inside a book: Short Stories to Spark Diversity Dialogue. Regardless of which way you lean, this was strange. The book still had the discounted price sticker on the backside. As if they went out and found a box of throw aways at a bookstore. The night was very odd, felt rushed at times, and unprepared. It's unfortunate because it's a great location and has a fantastic local vibe. If Town plans on making it, more time will need to be spent on the restaurant and in the kitchen, rather than at the discount book store.

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Great place for food & drinks especially the espresso martini! *Walk ins welcomed *Reservations on OpenTable *Great space and ambiance *Parking lot available, and street parking *Bar area with two big screen TVs +Newly opened so we stopped in without a reservation and was seated promptly. This is what we ate/drank: +6671 Manhattan -Rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, bitters, dark cherry *Stirred and served on the rocks with a single block of ice. +Espresso Martini -Tito's vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, simple syrup *A well made espresso martini with the right proportions. Garnished with three coffee beans floating on the foam (representing health, wealth, and happiness in Italian tradition) and served immediately to enjoy the foam. Great presentation with a dome of dry ice. Divine! +GRILLED WINGS -(8) grilled wings with shaved carrot, celery, house blue cheese, and house ranch and a choice of sauce: Virginia Peanut, Sorghum BBQ, or Tangy Buffalo *Great to have grilled wings, nice char on them and the sauces were tasty especially the tangy buffalo. +CALAMARI -Squid tentacles and rings, crispy fried with artichokes and peppers, served with lemon aioli and sweet chili sauce. *Love the calamari. Perfectly fried and not oily. Seasoned well and the sauces were flavorful m. +CARPACCIO -Thin-sliced ahi tuna topped with jalapeño, red onion, cucumber, avocado aioli, crispy shallots, ginger, micro cilantro, and a drizzle of 5-spice caramel. *Fresh and rich high grade ahi tuna. The toppings work well to add good flavor profiles. +Friendly and great customer service from Brian. We had a good experience dining here and will return. +Highly recommend

Love this place, the staff are amazing. Great service, including life saving by Sam the Bartender. If you're chocking on something, he can and will save you! Bartenders Michael, Kevin, Delmy and others are awesome as well! The owners Reza and Eve are hands on! 5 Stars!

Almost ordered pickup but the person who answered the phone convinced me to eat there instead…read more Thank you for doing so. So glad that I did! It was easily one of the best meal experiences I have had in quite awhile. Went with the surf and turf option with the amazing lobster and crab cake (5oz) and filet (5 oz). Both, along with the asparagus, were all cooked to amazingly delicious perfection. Would go back and n a minute to eat there again. Tried their calamari and it was one of a kind. Olives, pesto and sliced artichoke hearts? I didn't get too far into the calamari, since I was getting pretty full and it was a late add, but it was tender and very flavorful. Was hoping they had an affogato for dessert but went with the basque baked cheesecake with blueberry compote. Super fabulous. Creamy yet light and the blueberries were a perfect combo for it. Ryan as the server added to the experience. He was so knowledgeable about the restaurant since he started back when they opened. Information on the art/painter, as well as his general information of the mostly gluten sensitive menu where they note which dishes have gluten versus the other way around. What a great idea! Thanks Randy (and Patsy) and their kiddos for managing and having such a great place to enjoy such a fine dining experience. Amazing food. Fabulous service. Relaxing and peaceful (well sort of, minus the bar crowd). Great end to a very fun day.

The service was astounding and impressively quick. We loved the calamari so much that we ordered two orders--yes, it was THAT delicious! The bread basket with assorted rolls and buttered breads was also so filling and a great start to the meal. I ordered the ribeye paired with mashed potatoes, and the steak was a generous portion and cooked perfectly to my liking. But those mashed potatoes... out of this world! Seasoned just right and full of flavor. I'm definitely looking forward to going back to try more from the appetizer menu and, of course, explore their drink menu. If you're looking for the perfect date-night spot with an intimate, romantic setting, definitely hit up Randy's Steakhouse and enjoy!

I thought my salmon wrap and the chickpea side was ok. Interesting flavors for sure. As for the service, there was always someone filling up our waters and our waiter was very nice checking in every now and then. The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. So that was kind of a disappointment for us. I think if we go again, we would request to box our food ourselves since I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of all of his lamb.

At the bar, we got delicious drinks (try the sesame old fashioned) and appetizers (tamale). The bar tender was very careful to ask if it was gluten free for me. We were moved to a nice table for two next to the window. Luis was dressed as a pirate (it was Halloween) and other staff members joined in the fun too. The menus said happy anniversary on them, which was a nice touch. Luis helped me order from the menu, since they don't identify gluten-free options (my only complaint). I had the braised bison shoulder. It was fantastic! Although we waived off on dessert (so full), they brought a complementary ice cream sundae. It was tasty. We enjoyed our experience and plan to return for our next special occasion.

Evelyn Rose: A Restaurant Worth Celebrating A few years ago,…read morefriends introduced us to Evelyn Rose in Vienna, and we've been grateful ever since. We've made the trek from Arlington several times, and the restaurant has accomplished something increasingly rare: it has never given us a reason to regret the drive. For years, Clarity occupied a special place on our restaurant list: excellent food, impeccable service, and prices that didn't require a second mortgage. Evelyn Rose has gradually assumed that role. It's become a restaurant where we arrive with high expectations and leave feeling they've been justified. Our latest visit was another celebration. October is particularly busy in our household, with my wife's birthday and two of our three wedding anniversaries. Yes, three. To each other. Long story, best discussed over cocktails. We'd already celebrated with a European tour accompanied by 30 friends. This time, we wanted something more relaxed. No grand production, just an excellent dinner together. We arrived early, and the hostess found us two seats at the bar for drinks and appetizers. It was a thoughtful beginning, the sort of hospitality that makes guests feel genuinely welcome rather than merely accommodated. Sarah ordered a Toasted Sesame Old Fashioned featuring yuzu, which she loves, and the Squash Tamale. She's equally fond of squash, although under other circumstances she'd probably prefer tennis. I chose a Godfather, partly because I enjoy them and partly because I'm old enough to order one without irony. My appetizer was one of the best Caesar salads I've had in years. This wasn't one of those timid salads where the kitchen seems vaguely embarrassed by anchovies. It had a kale base, plenty of cheese, flavorful croutons, and, best of all, a generous supply of whole salt-cured anchovies. I realize anchovies are divisive. For some diners, they're a reason to send a salad back. For me, their absence is often a reason not to order one. Evelyn Rose understands that a Caesar salad should have personality. This one certainly did. Just as we finished, the hostess appeared to escort us to our table, precisely at our reservation time. No waiting, no interruption, no wondering whether we'd been forgotten. The transition was seamless, another example of excellent service being most noticeable when you don't have to think about it. For dinner, Sarah ordered the Bison Shoulder, I chose the burger, and we shared Beef-Fat Fries. Not every celebratory dinner requires an elaborate tasting menu. Sometimes you simply want something delicious. The bison was flavorful and, thanks to its sauce, exceptionally rich. Sarah thoroughly enjoyed it, although its richness eventually got the better of her appetite. My burger was, as always, very good. Evelyn Rose understands balance, particularly in its choice of cheddar, which complements rather than overwhelms the beef. Some restaurants pile on so many ingredients that the burger becomes almost incidental. Thankfully, Evelyn Rose resists that temptation. My only complaint? There could have been more burger in the burger. Then again, that's probably my general philosophy on hamburgers. Despite my desire for more beef, neither of us could finish our meals. We packed up roughly half of each entrée, happily anticipating a second excellent meal at home. For Sarah's birthday, the restaurant treated us to a complimentary ice cream sundae. A lovely gesture, although by then our enthusiasm had substantially exceeded our remaining capacity. Remarkably, we took half the sundae home, too. It survived the trip to Arlington and now resides in our freezer, awaiting an opportunity when Sarah isn't looking. But the evening offered one more memorable moment. At the neighboring table sat a group of older diners, some perhaps even as old as we are. We noticed the extraordinary attention they received from staff and management. Clearly, something was going on. After they departed, a waiter explained that one of them had been Evelyn herself. The Evelyn. Grandmother of one of the owners. Well, that explained a few things. There's something reassuring about discovering that the person whose name adorns a restaurant actually eats there. Being the owner's grandmother undoubtedly guarantees attentive service, but it doesn't guarantee food worth eating. Evelyn's presence struck me as a charming endorsement and a reminder that there's a real family behind the restaurant's name. (Actually two, Rose is the chef's grandmother... I wonder where she was eating?) Evelyn Rose has earned a place among our Official Celebratory Restaurants, reserved for occasions when we want something special without going Full Michelin. And considering how many anniversaries we celebrate, it's fortunate we've found somewhere we can count on. Evelyn Rose isn't simply a restaurant we enjoy visiting anymore. It's become part of how we celebrate.

The food is a big part of why I've returned over the years, and we enjoyed our meal this time as well. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which always helps when you're out celebrating a special occasion. My one criticism of the special menu is the bacon-wrapped filet. As someone who doesn't eat pork products, it's disappointing to have that preparation limit my choices. We had a family event of approximately 36-40, and 4 waiters to attend to our party. I think it would be better if they split the waiters by section- I felt it was disorganized - I had to ask for the drink menu 3x and waited 20 minutes. They also took our dessert order but then my mom and I never got ours- but the waiter said he brought everything out (there was nothing served to us), and he did eventually bring it out about 25-30 min later when we were leaving. It seems like they bring around the meat selections speedily for about 30-45 min (it's like one immediately after the other) and then it's finished- so make sure you get the selections within those first 30-45 min. But they did bring some meats back when people asked- so that was nice. The ribeye and filet were the best, I'd skip the chicken- super dry. Desserts were average to subpar. Cosmo was watered down but the espresso martini was good! I think I'll try again as just a smaller party/regular dining guest and see how that goes. Overall, felt like it was ok but room for improvement. Service was the biggest thing that overshadowed the experience.
