When we came in the, the only booth available was right next to the restroom. Not always a problem, but they had so much of that bathroom air freshener that it was completely overwhelming. You couldn't stand to sit there let alone try to eat a meal through it so we asked to be moved to a different table. Our waiter, cleared a table,... And seated someone else at it. He did this twice. So we went back to remind him that he was going to move us. He didn't seem too thrilled about it, but we finally did get a table away from the toilet. It took him 25 minutes to take our order. And then we never saw him again. We had to flag two other waiters down to get coffee refills. Now the food. We all ordered the two egg breakfast. One had scrambled eggs and three with eggs over medium. First, the orders came back with scramble so we had to send them back. They brought the eggs back, but they were not over medium, they were over hard. Not what anyone wanted, but we ate them. I will say that none of our food was hot , not even the plates. The plates were handed to us right to our hands so they didn't really even try to warm anything. Several of us ordered grits and that was a joke. There was literally 4 tablespoons of grits. I would barely call that a side dish. The best thing about our experience was that the coffee was blazing hot and that was great... If you could only get a refill without having to hunt down a waiter. Service was one. I'm giving the review of three because the food didn't taste bad but I would've preferred it Hot and cooked properly. Maybe next time...?

This place is your typical down home diner with more items on the walls, things hanging from the ceiling, and advertising on the table than you have time to look at. We found ourselves undecided on where to eat and landed on Around the Corner--a spot we've…read moretypically enjoyed for breakfast. This time, we switched it up and went for lunch... and honestly, it just didn't hit the same. The place still has that classic diner charm--walls packed with memorabilia, a laid-back vibe, and a friendly staff that makes you feel welcome right away. It's one of those local spots that feels like it's been part of the community forever. I ordered the Reuben, hoping it would redeem my recent disappointment with a French Dip in Denver. It wasn't bad... just not what I was hoping for. My preference is a traditional rye bread so I thought this would be a winner. The sandwich was decent, but nothing memorable. Fries were another miss for me, but that one's partly on me--I didn't ask for them well done like I usually do. Now, my wife's meal? That told a different story. She went with the cheeseburger and onion rings--and those onion rings absolutely stole the show. Crispy, golden, and according to our server, made with an in-house batter. If you come here for lunch, do yourself a favor and order those. One thing I still appreciate is the unique menu presentation--it's styled like a newspaper, complete with articles, with the actual menu tucked into the center. A fun touch that adds to the diner experience. Overall, lunch was just okay this time around. If this had been a breakfast visit, I suspect the rating might've been higher--that's where this place has really shined for us in the past. The Verdict: * Great diner atmosphere * Friendly service * Onion rings = must order * Lunch (this visit) = just average We'll be back... but next time, we're sticking with breakfast.

I had no idea when Joy and I were visiting the museum that this restaurant was even here. But, I'm glad we found it, becsuse it was amazing. The food was so fresh and well prepared. I had the Buffalo Cheeseburger with fries. Well seasoned. The fries were a little over salted, but had a winderful taste and crunch to the. I would have liked the burger to be medium to medium rare, but I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. Joy gad the Smoked Turkey Stuffed Acorn Squash which she said tasted really good. Not overly smoked and seasoned well. Our waitress was great. She had an easy job as we were the only ones there. But she was very informative about the ingredients and kept our glasses filled. The restaurant was very clean and quiet. Outside was an agricultural display showing plants of Native Americans. I would definitely go back and try dinner there. I also assume that the menu could change based on availability of ingredients. Might be fun to go back in the Winter and Spring to see what might change.

Patties Hamburgers & Roast Beef - Edmond, OK…read more In my ongoing hunt for solid comfort food around Edmond, I decided to give Patties Hamburgers & Roast Beef a try--and this one is definitely worth a visit. It's a relatively small spot on 2nd Street, but don't let the size fool you. This place delivers big where it matters: hot, made-to-order food and friendly service that makes you feel welcome right away. I walked in fully intending to go with a classic burger... but sometimes you've got to listen to the people. On their way out, a couple told us it was their first visit too and highly recommended the French Dip and the daily special. That was all I needed--I made the audible. What We Ordered: * French Dip with au jus and fries * Chili Cheeseburger with fries The Food: The French Dip was the star for me--tender beef, plenty of melted cheese, and that au jus brought it all together. Solid, no-frills comfort food done right. The chili cheeseburger was messy (in a good way) and packed with flavor. Fries were crispy and did their job. Everything came out hot, fresh, and exactly how you want it. The Vibe: Casual, laid-back, and exactly what you'd expect from a local comfort food joint. Nothing fancy--but that's not why you're here. Service: Very friendly across the board. You can tell they care about the experience, and that goes a long way. Final Thoughts: This is one of those places where you already know you'll be back before you leave. Next visit, I'm going all-in on the burger lineup--and after seeing that dessert case, I may need to save room. If you're in Edmond and craving comfort food, put this one on your list.

The staff at the counter was friendly and welcoming, which set a nice first impression. However, the wait time was longer than expected -- about 30 minutes for our order. I had a half West Coast turkey sandwich with a cup of tomato soup, while my fiancé ordered the chicken salad sandwich with a side of potato salad. The sandwiches were good and clearly made fresh. The tomato soup was flavorful but leaned a bit too tangy for my personal taste and had a lot of tomato chunks, which may be a plus for some. Overall, a decent spot with good food, though the long wait was a drawback.
