Cute place. The service was very fast. The saffron tea with the saffron honey was amazing. Falafel salad was very nice with a large portion. The prices were very good. The hummus was very gritty with no flavor, probably the worst hummus I've had. The kabob was decent but not worthy of a reorder. You can tell they are cutting corners with cheaper ingredients but that's probably how they can keep their prices so low. We will definitely come back but stick to the falafel and tea. read more

Adding another review because I wanted a reminder of how good their tea (I believe ai got an orange cinnamon version) with their honey. The western gyro with gyro meat was so good. I loved the added sautéed bell peppers and onions along with the melted Swiss cheese. The fries are okay. This was the quickest lunch break in be ever taken. We arrived at 11:30 and were packing to go boxes at 11:50. The food came out so fast. I loved that an employee was walking around checking on customers and offering additional tzatziki sauce at no charge. Great place to grab some lunch. I typically don't write five star reviews for places I haven't set foot in, but I had to go the extra star just because of the attention to detail that this restaurant supplied. I do however definitely know, that I will actually make an in-person visit when able. This was ordered from GrubHub. I can only really speak on my order, I don't know how the other food is, but I'll tell you I'm definitely going to find out. They packaged my meat separate from my salad, so I didn't have limp wilted lettuce. Another key to detail! I ordered a spicy gyro salad. I've had Mediterranean all over the country, and I've never had spicy gyro. I don't know what the sauce is they use but it is phenomenal. My salad itself was huge, and they gave me a ridiculous amount of gyro meat! I mean a TON. They also doubled up on the pita bread, even though I'm not a carb eater, I had to go ahead and knock all that out too hahaha. They paid attention to my request for utensils, which was nice. A lot of places don't. They gave me extra of that hot sauce, plenty of Tzatziki sauce, I just wish I would have been able to ask them for extra salad dressing. It's probably enough for the normal bloke, but I like my salad like soup hahaha. I wasn't in love with the salad dressing, but it was good. I wasn't even able to eat everything I ordered. So I have a nice little snack in a couple hours! I know GrubHub gouges you, so my order was a bit expensive, but dining in, you're definitely getting your money's worth, and then some. My wife and I really enjoy coming here whenever we get the chance. The Gyro Platter is our go-to, and we always ask for extra Tzatziki, it never disappoints. Everything was delicious and fresh!! The lentil soup has incredible flavor and a great balance of salt & fats. Gyro wasn't super spicy and the fries were perfectly cooked. Stopped in for lunch with my son and so glad we did. I had been before but this was his first visit. From the outside it looks like a repurposed fast food restaurant--but what a glow up! Inside is wam and welcoming, featuring colorful lanterns and decor. There was a line to order but it moved fairly quickly--and the turnaround to get food delivered to the table was super fast. We each got the gyro sandwich with a side salad and everything was great. The pita was soft and warm, stuffed with gyro meat and onions with plenty of tzatziki sauce, the salad fresh and crisp with tasty dressing. My first time visiting this place and it was absolutely beautiful! The decorations are so pretty and they even had some calming music in the back to set the tone. The workers were all so nice and helpful! They explained every dish I was interested in. The food was so good! I got the falafel and it is the best falafel I have ever had. It is not dry and very flavorful. My sandwich also came with fries too. I got their hummus as well and it was also delicious the hummus wasn't too spicy/seasoned where it overpowered the taste. EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. This place is so dang good. I'm surprised! The interior is very well decorated and is very cozy. The workers were very kind and patient as it was our first time there. I want to review their chocolate cake. From the first time I tried it I have never forgotten how deliciously decadent it is. I've had many chocolate cakes in my life, but this one has become my new favorite. It's so moist and chocolaty velvety, I cannot have enough! The flavor with the peppers they add into the western gyro make it to where I can't eat a gyro plain ever again. Food comes super quick. The dining area is clean. That was the only downside to eating here. I had to hold our 8 month old through the meal. With that being said, he also enjoyed the saffron rice, basil pesto hummus, Kalamata olives in the salad, feta, etc. The gyro wrap I got was very tasty and my wife said her chicken wrap was also good! While Basil may not be my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in OKC, I really love the look of the restaurant, outside and inside, in particular the decorations, from the wall pieces to the lights and window curtains. Everything just looks clean and great. I love the instrumental music being played as well, all classic songs. One other awesome feature of Basil is the price, very reasonable for Mediterranean food. The gyro platter is the most valued entree and this is the entree I always get. This is a VERY busy place for lunch, but parking was quick and easy. We would highly recommend reviewing the menu on line before going here for lunch, because once we walked in, we were very glad we had! When we walked in, there was a waiting line almost out the door and the menu was written on a board on the wall. The line was moving very rapidly as each patron hurriedly ordered their meal at the front of the line which ended at the cash register, at which point the order was paid for and everyone was handed their order number to place on their table. Once we got through the line, we did find a nice, comfortable table with seating benches covered in comfy pillows that were wide enough to sit crossed legged if you were flexible enough and daring enough to take off your shoes. Our food was brought out VERY quickly and was delicious! We shared the garlic hummus with pita bread for an appetizer which was creamy and delicious; the pita bread was warm and browned just right. For our main dishes, we both ordered gyro salada and they were both fantastic and full of the perfect blend of flavors. After getting through the mild rush of ordering, the food and atmosphere were both enjoyable. If you are by yourself, or with a group ( we had six people in our group and were all served within 10 minutes), this is a nice place to come to for an ample, filling, and enjoyable lunch. I really enjoy Basil Mediterranean Café - to eat in or take out, lately it's been takeout. My two favorites are the beef shish kebab and the beef eggplant stew. With the kebab is made with beef tenderloin marinated grilled very tasty and tender and I do love the saffron rice. Eggplant being one of my favorite vegetables I like ordering this beef eggplant stew that is cooked with chunks of beef, chopped Eggplant and chopped tomatoes the flavors blended are delicious. I love dipping my pita bread in the juice. Today I ordered the classic Gyro, The meat was sliced thick - I preferred the Gyro meat shave thin, it was good but not my favorite. I had to take a picture of the dessert case, just to remind me to order dessert next time. Friendly fast service. read more
